Overview of the Intel Xeon L5520 processor
The Xeon L5520 processor, developed on the basis of the Nehalem-EP architecture, is designed for organizing servers. Started appearing in hardware stores in March 2009.
The processor works with DDR3-1066, DDR3-800 memory types in 3-channel mode, with a bandwidth of 25.6 Gb/s. The amount of memory that can be installed is 144 GB.
In addition, the new Turbo Boost mode can provide extremely high processor power by significantly increasing the frequency from 2267 to 2533 MHz.
This processor will need efficient cooling since the thermal power is 60W. The manufacturer claims that the system bus bandwidth will be 5.86 GT/s QPI (2933 MHz). The operating temperature when loaded will be 70°C. Process technology 45 nanometers — the total number of transistors is 731 million. This processor is intended for boards on LGA1366 connectors.
