Our team of experts are here to help answer that question, as we review all of the latest graphics cards, while also assembling this list with those that received the highest scores.

During the review process, we make sure to test each graphics card using both synthetic benchmarks and modern games – we will even conduct the tests at different resolutions, just in case you’ve got a Full HD, Quad HD or 4K monitor.

We also understand that each graphics card also supports a number of important software features, so we make sure to test the likes of ray tracing, DLSS and FSR performance, too.

And don’t worry, we also take the price into consideration, as we know most people can’t afford a $1000 graphics card. In fact, we’ve made sure to cater to a variety of budgets and performance targets so there’s a graphics card here for everyone.

However, it’s worth noting that Nvidia is expected to unveil its new Nvidia RTX 4000 graphics cards in the coming days, where we could see the likes of the Nvidia RTX 4090, RTX 4080 and RTX 4070. The AMD RDNA 3 cards are also expected to arrive shortly.

As a result, it may well be worth holding back on a graphics card purchase. Not only could the newer models offer a better performance, but existing options may well see a price cut. Keep this page bookmarked, as we’ll be updating this list with new high-scoring cards in the near future.

Every graphics card we review goes through a series of uniform checks designed to gauge key things including performance, features, thermals, power consumption and overclockability.

These include formal synthetic benchmarks with third-party software, plus a series of in-games tests from some of the most recent AAA PC titles, with optimised picks for both AMD and Nvidia.

We also make sure to use the GPU for everyday tasks and gaming to make sure there are no real-time performance issues.

The Nvidia RTX 3080 is our top recommended graphics card for gaming in 4K. While we found the RTX 3080 isn’t the fastest card available – with the RTX 3080 Ti, RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti flaunting more power – it’s still more than powerful enough to play most games in 4K with ray tracing activated.  

The Nvidia RTX 3080 managed to play both Control and Battlefield V in 4K, during our latest checks, with a performance over 60fps with their graphics maxed. On top of that, the RTX 3080 Ti typically only renders games around 5-10 frames faster than the base RTX 3080 in 4K with ray tracing and DLSS on. While these gains aren’t to be ignored, we still recommend most buyers opt for the much more reasonably priced RTX 3080 since it represents superior value. 

However, our tests did show that the card can run a little hot and, based on our experience, doesn’t have much room for overclocking. Smaller builds will also want to avoid it due to the card’s high thermals, which exceeded 90 degrees regularly when playing demanding titles in our test rig’s open case. This, plus its large dual-fan design, make it an awkward fit for smaller builds.

Bear in mind that the RTX 3080 could soon be usurped by the incoming Nvidia RTX 4080 graphics card, providing an even better performance at a potentially similar price. So maybe you should wait a little longer before upgrading your GPU.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070

Best graphics card for 1440p gaming

If you’re not that bothered about 4K or have a 1440p monitor instead, then the Nvidia RTX 3070 is the best graphics card we’d recommend to gamers. The card shares the same Ampere architecture and high-end features as its more expensive sibling, but isn’t quite as powerful. 

During testing, we could not reliably get demanding games (like CyberPunk 2077) running in 4K with ray tracing on and the graphics settings maxed. But with ray tracing off, the card generally performed excellently and proved fantastic value for money. Elden Ring ran smoothly in 1080p, 1440p and 4K with zero issue, as did Cyberpunk 2077 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderland.

However, we found the RTX 3070 generally played games around 15-20 fps slower than the RTX 3080. This meant games, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Control, failed to consistently hit 60fps when ray tracing was activated, averaging between 40-50fps during our tests. These frame rates are still comfortably playable, but they don’t offer the smooth experience you get on the more expensive RTX 3080. 

The compromise is forgivable as the 3070 also manages to outperform its AMD rival’s performance. Putting the RTX 3070 head to head with the slightly cheaper AMD RX 6700XT, the Nvidia card was constantly 10fps ahead in our in-game benchmark tests. This adds up to make it our recommended card for a 1440p resolution, and anyone who doesn’t care about ray tracing in 4K.

But before you hit checkout, it may be worth waiting for the next-gen Nvidia RTX 4070, with reports indicating it could offer an even more efficient performance.

Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti

Best graphics card for 1080p gaming

If you still use an 1080p gaming monitor, then both the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 are overkill options based on our experience. Instead, we recommend opting for the cheaper RTX 3060 Ti. This isn’t the cheapest Nvidia card we’ve tested, with the RTX 3050 costing considerably less. But the RTX 3060 Ti is the cheapest we’ve benchmarked to offer reliable post-60fps performance with ray tracing on in 1080p.

The card shares the same perks and architecture as the RTX 3070, with the main changes being reductions to its clock speeds and general specifications. Specifically, it has less tensor cores and RT cores (the parts of the card that run ray tracing and DLSS). 

But we didn’t notice any serious issues running games in 1080p. The graphic card ran every game in our tests, even with ray tracing activated and their graphics settings maxed out. Control zoomed along at 84fps and Borderlands 3 never dipped below 60fps. As a result, we’d say this is the card to get if you care about ray tracing and other cutting-edge features, but are still gaming at a 1080p resolution.

The only downside is that the Founders Edition model we tested is still fairly large, making it a poor fit for ITX builds. If that’s what you’re after, you’re better off checking a single-fan card, like the Nvidia RTX 3050, despite occasionally struggling to hit 60fps, even in 1080p, during our checks.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT

Best budget graphics card

The AMD RX 6600 XT is our current top recommended card for those on a strict budget. It’s the cheapest option in AMD’s current generation lineup and is built on the same RDNA 2 architecture as its more expensive siblings.

During our tests, we found the card can’t match the performance of Nvidia’s more expensive RTX 3060 Ti, especially when it comes to ray tracing. But for the price, it’s still a very capable card for 1080p gaming.

Modern games, including Doom Eternal, Destiny 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 all ran over 60fps in our 1080p benchmarks, while FSR compatible titles (like Godfall) can see the performance boosted even further due to some upscaling smarts. 

If you don’t care about sky-high frame rates or ray tracing when playing games in 1080p, the budget-friendly price makes the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT a solid choice. However, AMD RDNA 3 graphics cards are right around the corner, so it may be worth waiting for their launch before settling for one of AMD’s existing options.

With brand new graphics cards on the horizon, what are the best GPUs you can get in 2022? We break it down, graphical style.

Graphics cards are a key point in any PC build and a constant talking point in tech. Are you going to go all in with workhorses like 3090 Ti or will you be seeking a budget card like the RX 6600? It ultimately all depends on your budget.

GPUs are a major point of any PC build, changing the entire tide of how that PC operates in one fell swoop. Do you need a workhorse like the 3090 Ti? Or are you building a PC to play PC games on a budget? Whatever your decision, we’ve found the best graphics cards you can get hold of right now.

No matter where you are looking, software is also an important factor, with features like DLSS and FSR aiding cheaper cards. With the ever-increasing required specs of games, if you were to buy a graphics card today, it’d be expected to last far longer than before.

We’ve also found that GPU prices are set to drop massively over the next few weeks, up to the launch of the 40-series from Nvidia and the next line of RDNA3 GPUs from AMD.

We’ve yet to get hold of any of the new GPUs from Intel, Nvidia and AMD. Once we’ve managed to test and determine what’s best, we’ll make a proper update to this page. Our recommendation right now is to perhaps hold off, or clue yourself in as to what GPU range is right for you.

The best budget graphics card: Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti


Ideal for pretty much everything – if you don’t want to game higher than 1080p.

As of right now, the Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti is the best budget graphics card on the market. It provides for solid, 1080p performance and even eke out 1440p in certain games, too. The package, including all the software additions that come with the card; DLSS, Nvidia Broadcast, and GeForce Experience are all great – which gives it incredible value, especially if you are a budding streamer.

At 1080p for your traditional, AAA titles, you can expect an average of 60FPS in most games. If you have a high refresh rate monitor, you can fully expect to hit 144Hz or more on the GPU on esports titles.

The 3060 Ti also now comes in smaller sizes that make it ideal for an ITX or small-form-factor build.

In the content creation space: Don’t expect the best performance outside of 1080p video editing. DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro are hungry beasts that aren’t particularly well optimized on PC.

Alternate pick: AMD RX 6600 XT

If you’re after some other options, you should consider AMD’s RX 6600 XT, a cheaper alternative to the RTX 3060 Ti. It’ll get you solid 1080p performance and while it won’t do as well as the 3060 Ti, it’s far cheaper.

The best graphics card under $600: Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti


Hopefully the prices goes down for this.

Nvidia’s 3070 Ti MSRPs for $599. It is incredible. It’s a powerhouse at 1080p and 1440p, with some tweaks needed to get similar performance at 4K, you’ll be hanging onto this powerful card for a long, long time.

The 3070 Ti is also a great option not only for gaming, but content creation as well. Video editors and photographers will love the accelerated boost that comes with Nvidia’s CUDA cores and those in the 3D modelling space will also get their money’s worth.

On average, you’re looking at Ultra settings for 1080p, high refresh rate, with similar performance in 1440p titles. 4K performance is aided by DLSSS to help some framerates along, too.

The best premium graphics card: Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti


The 3080 Ti, a godlike card.

Why the 3080 Ti over the 3090 Ti for premium graphics cards? The 3090 and Ti variants just cost too much. The power consumption alone is enough for us to not recommend it, when the 3080 Ti reaches a similar level of performance in gaming and content creation.

Unless you really needed that extra drop of power from the 3090 Ti, the 3080 Ti is perfect. They’re expensive, MSRP is $1199, with the shortage causing prices sit above that.

For gaming, you’ll never need to fret. 4K is handled. In fact, if you have the monitor for it, it’ll be your defacto stance. In other cases, like content creation, again, nothing needs to be said. It’s going to stomp over everything you throw at it and then come back for more.

This is the card you go for when you want performance over everything.

The best graphics card for 1080p gaming: RTX 3060 Ti / RX 6600 XT


Whichever you choose, you’re going to get what you need.

We’ve already discussed the 3060 Ti in lengthy detail and it is the best option for 1080p gaming.

AMD’s lineup might pale in comparison in regards to overall features, but they have the 1080p gaming market on lockdown. Yes, Nvidia do things better and have better software, as well as overall support, but AMD’s massive lineup of cards can help you cut costs and not have to sacrifice all that much.

The RX 6600 XT is a great alternative to the 3060 Ti and can be found for a couple of hundred dollars less than the highly sought-after 3060 Ti.

The best graphics card for 1440p gaming: RTX 3070 Ti / RX 6700 XT


Going up a power level doesn’t need to be such a hard choice.

There’s a tonne of cards that we could suggest for this, but going with the 3070 Ti, or an equivalent will ensure that you have enough headroom for changing your settings where it counts.

The 3070 Ti just offers so much performance at this price point, it’s unreal. It hits the 1440p sweet spot, with the best of both worlds – the high refresh rates and gorgeous quality – being on offer here. It’s literally a “have the cake and eat it” scenario.

If you’re after AMD though, we’d probably say to look into the equivalent. You won’t get nearly as good performance out of it if you want any modicum of ray tracing, but AMD’s RX 6700 XT will do the job if you want to cut the costs on your power bill. They’re similarly priced to the 3070 family of GPUs, but their power consumption is far lower, lending itself to lesser PSUs.

The best graphics card for 4K gaming: RTX 3080 / RTX 3080 Ti


The 3080 Ti is just so, so good. So good, we recommended it twice… kinda.

As of right now? The Nvidia RTX 3080 and 3080 Ti are the best options for 4K gaming. On PC, we can easily produce a real-time, 4K image in games, but most GPUs won’t muster up enough frames.

The 30-series cards solidified ray tracing and ensured that 4K gaming became an attainable reality, with features like DLSS significantly improving performance across the board. No other cards do it better than Nvidia in this regard, which is why you don’t see an AMD alternative here.

For 4K gaming, you really need to go look at the cards mentioned above. You’ll have a better time with the upgraded “Ti” variant, but for the most part, going with the cheaper original card will still suffice.

The best GPU for esports: RTX 3050


The 3050, a solid option for those just into esports.

You will easily be able to manage esports gaming on the RTX 3050. The neat thing about esports gaming, so things along the lines of Counter-Strike or Valorant, is that there’s no real need to go overboard when choosing a graphics card. A lot of these games are designed to hit as many PCs as possible, meaning that some players could swing by on an APU alone.

For those that take things seriously though, it’s recommended you seek out a high refresh rate monitor, too. If you have no real intentions of playing above 1080p at 144Hz or above, and keep your games limited to esports or whatever is trending on Steam right now (V Rising, Escape From Tarkov), you should do just fine with an RTX 3050.

This should keep costs down, while still providing you with a good performance to play almost anything out there – if you ever decide to ditch de_dust2.

Best graphics card for content creators: RTX 3070 Ti and above


3070 Ti, a great GPU for almost everything.

If you’re intending to game, make some content, and possibly stream, we’d recommend going for the 3070 Ti or above. This gives you enough headroom for multiple tasks at once, without having to give up on your gaming needs.

What if you want to go AMD? Well, Nvidia and AMD use similar tech in their GPUs, with Nvidia calling it ‘CUDA cores’ and AMD going with ‘Streaming cores’. They work the same for the use case, but CUDA has more software support, with the NVENC encoder being an essential part of decoding real-time video for Team Green, giving them a natural advantage over any AMD card.

Though, if you are serious about content creation, and do not game at all, you should look at Nvidia’s line of Quadro workstation GPUs, but they do get extremely expensive.

Do you need a GPU?

The short answer if you’re reading this page: yes.

The longer answer? It entirely depends on what you’re aiming to do. A dedicated graphics card will almost always improve everything you intend to do. From content creation to gaming, GPUs just take the stress off of your PC’s CPU to allow it to continue with its needed tasks.

However, some branches of the AMD and Intel CPU lines now actually perform great on their own, with the integrated GPU intended for things like office work and maybe light Photoshop.

Chips like the Ryzen 5600G and 5700G from AMD are recommended for those interested in building a budget build, as well as ideal for emulation and retro gaming.

While they won’t pull in impressive framerates, they should be able to see you through some very light 1080p gaming or some hardcore emulation.

AMD vs Nvidia

… and Intel

The AMD vs Nvidia conversation is always going to land on the point of ‘Nvidia is better’ and it’s true. There’s no doubt with everything that Nvidia brings to the table by using one of their GPUs in your laptop or rig, that you’re going to suffer or have to make sacrifices.

Things like Nvidia Broadcast, Omniverse, and the GeForce Experience with its built-in recording function and optimization for your games, as well as the ever-impressive DLSS, mean that Nvidia just outright offers a better deal on the graphics card front.

However, AMD’s cards offer something in that you’re going to wind up spending a lot less than initially expected in some aspects. Lower power consumption means less money spent on a power supply, and AMD is generally a touch cheaper, too.

Some of the recent AMD cards have even been outperforming the Nvidia equivalents, but again, it depends on what you really want from your PC.

What is supersampling?: DLSS vs FSR

Supersampling is the process of shrinking an image down to a lower resolution and then blowing it back up using algorithms from AI or machine learning. You’ll get silky smooth frames on even the toughest game to run on things like a 3050 Ti.

So, supersampling is a relatively new bullet point to discuss in terms of graphics cards. It’s really designed to stop the superseding nature of GPUs, where once the next couple of iterations are out, some graphics cards become, well, worthless.

To counteract this, Nvidia has DLSSDeep Learning Super Sampling – and AMD has FSR – FidelityFX Super Resolution – both of which accomplish the same task but in different fashions.

The neat thing about FSR is that AMD has made it open source so any game can begin to integrate it. However, Nvidia has closed off DLSS by limiting it to their hardware, and even then, only for RTX cards.

FSR works on all GPUs that it supports, bringing new life into even older GTX cards that have become forgotten. DLSS works on RTX cards, from the 20-series onwards.

However, as mentioned, DLSS and FSR have to be integrated into the game by the developers. Though, as it has gone open source, it appears as though some developers are making programs to ensure it runs everywhere.

What are Founders Edition Nvidia graphics cards?

Founders Edition cards are the graphics cards that are manufactured by Nvidia themselves. They rarely come back in stock and often go for much more on the secondary market due to their complete ‘stock’ design.

These are the complete basis of every card that follows onwards, with all kinds of manufacturers developing their own version of each branch of the card.

Intel Arc – is it going to be worth it?

As of right now, it appears Intel’s first crack at graphics cards isn’t going to live up to their own hype machine. Announced in 2021, Intel positioned itself as the third pillar in the graphic card industry and they kind of fluffed it.

The leaked specs coming out of China have already dashed any hopes of a decent alternative to team green or team red.

However, Intel Arc shouldn’t be taken entirely as dead on arrival, as presumably, the next iteration will improve things. However, seeing as how much catching up it took AMD to have a remote inning at Nvidia’s prowess after losing all control in the late 2000s and early 2010s, don’t get your hopes up.

What is Ray Tracing?

Ray Tracing is a technology that’s been around for quite some time. It’s a method of calculating light in a 3D environment in a semi-natural way, that doesn’t require programmers and developers to ‘bake’ it in. This includes warping in things like glass, or even changing the color or size as it passes through things.

Whereas it has been used frequently in movies since around 2005, with Monsters University being the first to use it for everything, it wasn’t until the launch of RTX cards that ray tracing even began to function properly in real-time applications like video games.

Prior to things like Doom 3 and advancements in the Unreal Engine, games would have to ‘bake’ their lights. Games like Call of Duty, for instance, would simply have the lighting already built into the world with nothing that could change it.

Games with Ray Tracing now, such as Minecraft’s RTX version, can take a light source and bounce it around mathematically as close to realism as possible. So if you build a house with one block open for a window, the light will pour in and produce a natural light leak.

Do I need an RTX graphics card for Ray Tracing?

No, technically any graphics card supports Ray Tracing.

AMD has its own version of ‘RTX’, which is merely just branding. They just poorly advertise it and do a worse job, but the point is, no, you don’t need an RTX branded card from Nvidia to do raytracing.

AMD graphics cards do a worse job in part because they utilize the same hardware cores that perform different tasks at the same time. Nvidia changed the name of their GPUs from GTX to RTX because of the switch in focus for the development of the 20-series onwards.

Is it a good time to buy a graphics card?

Right now is a good time to buy a graphics card if you’re looking for a bargain. Prices are plumetting and you can readily purchase most cards without any fuss. However, you should still bear in mind that the RTX 4070 is going to beat out the current power king, the RTX 3090 Ti for a fraction of the price, no matter how discoutned it might be right now.

So, for those looking to get the best performance, you might want to wait a little while. If you want to buy a graphics card now, pick up an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT, because you’ll get the best value out of them, as the next-generation cards for that bracket are not due to hit for a little while.

Be careful when shopping for a used card, you might not know how hot the card was kept, or if it was used for cryptocurrency mining. This can shorten the life of the card, though it’s proven to not affect performance. When you are looking for a new graphics card, the task can be daunting. There are dozens of cards and every major brand has to get their hands on at least one, so you have a whole lot of noise you need deafen just to find the one that works for you. Not to mention that the prices are in constant fluctuation. A year or two ago (maybe even just a few months) and the idea of a graphics card deal was a fantasy as most cards were going for way above MSRP and often only being sold by scalpers on eBay if they were in stock at all. That’s not quite the case anymore, although prices and demand still change regularly and things can escalate quickly.

Our goal is to provide you with a list of the best graphics card deals from all around the internet. We’re not interested in cards that are «on sale» just because they aren’t bloated at hundreds above retail anymore. We’re looking for genuine deals on GPUs, many of which are selling as close to their MSRP as they have in years or maybe even selling below MSRP. Sometimes graphics cards come packaged in bundles that include things like other PC parts or even codes for video games, and while those are hard to track we will list them as well if we find them. Always check what manufacturers are bundling with the card you’re interested in because you could save in ways you didn’t know about.

Should you buy a graphics card right now?

I.e. Is it worth it? The truth is, if you’re looking for a graphics card then it is probably a  need for you. You’re here because you’re in the market for a new computer or looking to upgrade an aging beast. Either way, the original question is really moot because whether or not you should… you ARE.

Now is as good a time as any, anyway, because prices have been falling for most of 2022. It’s hard to tell whether they’re going to keep falling or if demand will rise again, but for now we’re seeing more and more discounts every day. That’s a great thing, and it’s a pattern that currently only benefits you, the buyer. Finding cards below MSRP is still not very common, but if the trend continues the way it is then drops that good might be right around the corner.

Best Nvidia GPU deals:

PNY GeForce GTX 1660 Super $300 $209. 99 at Amazon

The 1660 Super is a couple generations behind, but it’s still a great card and has plenty of juice to keep you gaming at a high level. The price is also the lowest it has been on Amazon considering it was going for as much as $350 in June.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 SC Ultra $267 $209.99 at Amazon

There was a time in its life when this card actually hit $220 more than once, but that was a while ago. It spent all of 2021 above $260, and this is its first major discount on Amazon in more than a year. 

Gigabyte Eagle OC GeForce RTX 3060 + Monitor $595 $400 at Newegg

A cool bundle that includes a fantastic graphics card and the Gigabyte G24F 24-inch gaming monitor with a 180Hz refresh rate, IPS display, and 1080p resolution. 

MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 $450 $409. 99 at Amazon

This card was only introduced on Amazon earlier this year, but it has sold for around $450 or more since its release. Today’s price is an all-new low that we have not seen before. 

MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 3070 8GB $640 $529.99 at Newegg

Take another $10 off with code VGAEXCMSET274. Will save an extra $20 after a mail-in rebate. This card is still going for as much as $760 at some retailers and even $660 at Amazon. The price has actually gone as low as $530 before, but this is still a pretty nice deal.

MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 3080 $1,210 $719.99 at Newegg

Get the price down using code VGAEXCMSJZ293 with a $30 mail-in rebate form. This is $10 better than the next best price we’ve seen this year. This deal also comes with four free games, which in this case includes Ghostwire Tokyo, Doom Eternal, and the two parts of The Ancient Gods, a Doom Eternal DLC.

MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ti $1,410 $839.99 at Newegg

You will need to fill out and send in the $30 off mail-in rebate to get the full benefit of this deal, but even if you don’t this is still a great price on a powerful card. We did see it drop to $850, but this is still a better price than it has been selling for.

MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti $1,450 $1,029.99 at Newegg

You’ll need the mail-in rebate form to save another $50, but this is an amazing price for a GPU that once peaked as high as $2,200. With a new generation of GPUs on the horizon, we might even see this card drop a bit more soon. 

EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 GPU $2,000 $1,099.99 at Newegg

This is by far the best price we’ve seen on this card in quite some time, but unfortunately right now it is out of stock. That’s not surprising, but if you are interested then keep an eye on it here. Other retailers have it for $400 to $600 more.

MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 $1,800 $1,000 at Amazon

The 3090 is the top of the current generation, so you know GPU prices are really dropping when even this one is going on sale. During the recent past when GPU prices were skyrocketing, this card was going for as much as $2,400. It has been selling closer to $1,800 recently, but this deal is a nice new low price.

EVGA B Stock graphics cards

EVGA has an entire section of its online store dedicated to what it calls «B Stock,» or more commonly «refurbished» units. You can find graphics cards here that are used or suffer from some basic cosmetic damage. They come in at a reduced price, and EVGA often features B Stock Sales that drop the price even more.

Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 $500 $249.99 at Amazon

This card was selling for as much as $500 in January and has been on a steady decline ever since. Today’s price is an all-new low we haven’t seen before.

You will need to use the mail-in rebate form to get an extra $20 off, but even at $270 it is a nice discount from what this card was going for in June. You’ll also get a digital code for three free games, which is just icing on the cake.

XFX Speedster SWFT210 Radeon RX 6650 XT $380 $339.99 at Amazon

Includes a Core Clock of 2055 MHz and boost clock of 2635 MHz. Connectivity includes an HDMI 2.1 port and three DisplayPort 1.4. Uses the PCI Express 4.0 standard. Not quite as low as recent deals where it dropped to $330 but still a decent price.

XFX Speedster QICK308 Radeon RX 6650XT $400 $341.33 at Amazon

Looks like XFX Speedster is offering deals on cards regardless of retailer. This price matches the lowest we’ve seen on the QICK308 model. The 6650 XT is sort of a refreshed 6600 XT that’s slightly faster, and it is a new release this year.

This card was selling for as high as $600 just a few months ago. Not only is this a great discount from that price, but this is also the lowest price we’ve ever seen it hit on Amazon. 

Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 6700 XT $400 $389.99 at Newegg

Use code VGAEXCAA286 to save $10 during checkout, bringing this card down to a nice low price. The card has a max boost clock of 2581 MHz, and it has three DisplayPort inputs plus an HDMI port. 

PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 6650 XT $440 $399.99 at Amazon

This AMD graphics card has only been available on Amazon since May, but it has sold at or near its MSRP of $450 since then. The drop here is its best price ever. 

XFX Speedster QICK319 Radeon RX 6700 XT $575 $440.82 at Amazon

Last year, this GPU peaked as high as $1,020 on Amazon. That’s an insane price. The GPU market was nuts. Now it is down to the lowest we have ever seen. 

PowerColor Hellhound Radeon RX 6650 XT $440 $419.99 at Amazon

You don’t see a lot of pure Spectral White graphics cards like this. It’s a beautiful aesthetic if you’re making a white PC. This is a relatively new card that just released in May, too, so it’s great to see the price going down and not up.

XFX Speedster QICK319 Radeon RX 6750XT $530 $469.99 at Newegg

AMD’s RX 6750 XT card was only introduced in May, but it was introduced at just the right time as GPU prices keep dropping so it’s one where the price never got a chance to get overly bloated. This is a great deal, although it has been $30 cheaper recently. 

XFX Radeon RX 6750 XT $550 $499.99 at B&H

Once as low as $470, this price is still much better than it’s going for at other retailers. Chances are the price will expire, and it’s at least $20 more at other retailers if not hundreds more. 

XFX Speedster SWFT 319 Radeon RX 6800 $700 $569.99 at Newegg

This is a great low price for a powerful card, and it’s just one of several cards on sale at the XFX store. You might even be able to find some discount codes to add onto the savings, although the codes seems to change often. 

MSI AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT $740 $579.99 at Newegg

Get a direct discount and take an extra $20 off using the mail-in rebate to really secure this card at an affordable price. Hard to tell how long this price will last considering any one of these discounts could disappear at any time.

ASRock Radeon RX 6900 XT $800 $699.99 at Newegg

This is a huge discount on this card. There is an unlisted mail-in rebate form that might get you another $50 off, but I’m unsure why the mail-in rebate is no longer listed. An RX 6900 for $650 is amazing value. This is a very powerful card near the top of what AMD has to offer, and this deal is extremely affordable compared to where it has been in the past. You also get three free games.

If you’re looking for the best budget graphics card under $200, then this GTX 1660 Super from PNY is not what you’re looking for. That’s because it comes in at just slightly over $200. However, it is close enough and if you can stretch your budget just a bit, you’ll get a much more powerful GPU when compared to the true sub-$200 graphics cards on this list.

This GTX 1660 Super comes with a 1530MHz core clock and a 1785MHz boost clock. It sports 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM and requires a minimum of a 450-watt power supply. It also measures in at just under 9.5-inches, making it a great option for smaller builds.

For performance, you can expect this GPU to max out any game on a 1080P monitor. And, it should achieve a high-enough average framete in most games to where you’d benefit by pairing it with a 144Hz monitor that has G-Sync technology.

2. XFX Radeon RX 6500 XT

If you don’t quite have $200 to spend, your next best bet is probably this Radeon RX 6500 XT from XFX. The RX 6500 XT isn’t the GPU in the world and it even loses in benchmarks to older generation cards (like the RX 5500 XT).

That’s mainly due to the fact that it comes with a lower VRAM capacity (only 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM). However, the RX 5500 XT is difficult to find and the RX 6500 XT is readily available. So, while 4GB of VRAM may not be ideal, at this price point, it’s still the best offering.

Furthermore, the RX 6500 XT is still powerful enough to allow you to play any games on a 1080P display (ideally, with AMD’s FreeSync technology) on at least medium settings. And, for non-demanding esports titles like Rocket League of League of Legends, or games like Minecraft, it is more than powerful enough to get the job done.

So, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly GPU option, the RX 6500 XT is a decent option worth considering.

3. XFX Radeon RX 6400

If you have a tighter budget and you can’t spend more than $150, this XFX Radeon RX 6400 graphics card is a good option. The RX 6400 lags a bit behind both the GTX 1660 Super and the RX 6500 XT, but it will still run most games on a 1080P monitor on at least medium settings.

This card is also one of the shortest options on this list, sporting a low-profile design, and measuring in at 6.3-inches long. So, that would make it an excellent option for a smaller form-factor system.

It also comes with a 2321 MHz base clock rate and 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM.

Overall, if you don’t have the budget to get a GTX 1660 Super, an RX 6400 is probably your next best option. And, of the RX 6400s currently on the market, this XFX card offers the best price to performance as of the time of writing this article.

4. PowerColor Radeon RX 550

If you don’t have more than $100 to spend on a graphics card, you have a few options. As of right now, the best sub-$100 GPU is an RX 550. And, as of the time of updating this guide, the top sub-$100 RX 550 currently available is this low-profile option from XFX.

This card comes with a 1071 MHz base clock rate, 2GB of VRAM, and a single fan cooling configuration. Due to the single fan configuration and low-profile design, this RX 550 measures in at just 6.0-inches long. So, it’s a great option for a budget-friendly mini gaming PC build.

For performance, you can expect to run most games on a 1080P monitor on at least lower settings. For non-demanding games like League of Legends, this card will work just fine and for more demanding games, you can play on lower settings until you have enough money to upgrade to something more powerful.

5. EVGA GeForce GTX 1650 Super

While it might seem that I have something against NVIDIA cards based on this article, the reality is that, at the current price points, AMD cards seem to make more sense in the sub-$200 price range.

The GTX 1650 Super does provide a slight performance boost over the RX 6500 XT in most games, however it also comes in at—or just above—$200. And, at that point, the GTX 1660 Super listed above would be a better option.

However, if you’re able to find a GTX 1650 Super for the same price (or cheaper) than the RX 6500 XT, then you’d probably be better off choosing it instead. And, if they do, this EVGA card would be one of the better options. It comes with a 1755 MHz base clock, 4GB of VRAM, and a dual fan configuration. It also measures in at 8.0-inches long.

Overall, though, you can either spend a little more to get a better performing card (the GTX 1660 Super), or you can spend less and get virtually the same performance (RX 6500 XT. ) So, for now, the GTX 1650 Super is an Honorable Mention.

Another NVIDIA card that doesn’t make it into our top picks due to the price it comes in at is the non-Super GTX 1650. The standard GTX 1650 costs close to the same amount as the RX 6500 XT. However, the RX 6500 XT provides quite a bit more performance than the GTX 1650.

So, as of right now, the RX 6500 XT has a better price-to-performance ratio.

Of course, with graphics card prices changing on a daily basis, it is worth taking a look at 1650 prices before you make your final decision. And, of the GTX 1650 options out there, this PNY card is a decent option.

Another sub-$100 graphics card option is this Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030. At just under $85, it is the most affordable option on this list. And, if you’re working with a tight budget to build a new gaming PC or upgrade an older computer, a GT 1030 is an excellent option.

It won’t give you great in-game performance—especially in demanding titles—but it can hold you over until you can afford an upgrade.

Ultimately, the GT 1030 is an entry-level card that won’t work for most individuals. If you are strapped for cash, though, and need a cheap GPU to get you by, it should do the trick.

Which Budget GPU is Right for You?

While it is true that the better the graphics card you have, the higher the framerate you can get in your games, it is also true that even today’s top games can be run fairly well by a budget graphics card at 1920 x 1080 resolution. For instance, the three options in the $150-$200 price range (the GTX 1660 Super, RX 6500 Xt, and GTX 1650 Super) should be able to handle today’s most demanding games on medium settings on a 1080P monitor. And, even the options in the $100-$150 price range will serve you well for 1080P gaming as well.

If you’re playing non-demanding games, like Rocket League, League of Legends, or Dota 2, etc., you can save even more money by going with something like an RX 550 or GT 1030 without sacrificing much in terms of your in-game experience.

So, the bottom line is that, whether you’re looking for a decent upgrade for your older desktop, or you’re looking to build an affordable gaming PC, there are graphics card options for under $200 that will deliver you a pretty solid in-game experience.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 is the most powerful GPU on this list, and indeed currently available, however, it’s a hugely expensive card that’s only really worth it if you’re a content creator that requires a great deal of visual rendering power, for whom quicker rendering equals more work and more money.

This graphics card has the most impressive VRAM capacity, speed, and bandwidth you will find, and AMD doesn’t really have an answer to it. Ultimately though, for gaming, it’s not that much better than the much much cheaper RTX 3080 Ti.

Looking for the performance of the RTX 3090 but without the full cost, then the RTX 3080 Ti is a good alternative.

A few hundred dollars cheaper it still has the performance but lacks the VRAM capacity. But for gaming, it doesn’t have much impact keeping it on top.

What is graphics card stock like right now?

The biggest news plaguing GPU releases has been the GPU shortage. It has meant that it’s been impossible to buy graphics cards firsthand directly from retailers. It has also led to graphics cards becoming very expensive, mainly from the shortage and those who take advantage of that.

  • GDDR6X – The latest VRAM available, it has more capacity and increased bandwidth making it the most powerful VRAM on the market.
  • GDDR6 – The most common modern VRAM standard. Decently fast, shouldn’t bottleneck in most situations.
  • Memory Bus – In massively-simplified terms, the wider the memory bus, the faster the core and VRAM are able to communicate with one another. Higher-end cards utilize these with higher VRAM for a better advantage.
  • Cores – these make up the GPU die itself and each manufacturer has different architectures to get these to work. Different cores have specializations to work on particular processes, like ray tracing or shading.
    • RT Cores – for specific cores, we take a look at ray tracing cores. This specialized hardware allows for accelerating ray-traced graphics in real-time.
    • Tensor Cores – another set of specific hardware is tensor cores. Also a recent addition, they work on upscaling featured in Nvidia’s DLSS.
  • TDP – this is the thermal design power of the GPU. It is a measure of how much energy it can output as heat and how much power it takes. Consideration for the cooling solution to handle and how power-hungry your machine will be.
