Lastly, looking at the FPS of the RTX 2070 Super and RTX 3060, we see a 13-frame difference. Obviously, the RTX 2070 Super has those 13 extra frames.
However, even with a ~9.6% performance uplift, the RTX 3060 is still a better card in terms of efficiency. To conclude, if you want a graphics card with good performance and low costs, the 3060 is your ideal pick.
Borderlands 3

In conclusion, the RTX 2070 Super has a greater FPS but a worse TDP and performance per dollar ratio. To elaborate, the RTX 2070 Super has ~14.86% more FPS but is ~59% more expensive than the RTX 3060.
Overall, the RTX 3060 might be a better GPU than the RTX 2070 Super. Obviously, the same wouldn’t be true if the 2070 Super was still in production.
Far Cry New Dawn

Next up, we have one of Ubisoft’s most famous games. Not only is Far Cry New Dawn an amazing shooter game, but it also has a compelling storyline.
Furthermore, Far Cry New Dawn is famous for its graphics that can bring even a high-end PC to its knees. Therefore, the game is perfect for including GPU comparison benchmark tests. It is important to note that the Far Cry series performs better with AMD GPUs.
Now, looking at the fan curve, the RTX 2070 Super has a 20% more aggressive fan curve than the RTX 3060. But, even with this kind of cooling, the RTX 3060 is cooler.
As shown above, a heavier fan curve equates to higher wattage consumption and bad TDP ratings. Also, keeping a GPU cooler will keep it at boost clocks for longer, improving performance.
Lastly, there is a small FPS difference between the RTX 3060 and the RTX 2070 Super. With only an 8 FPS gap, the RTX 2070 Super is 8% faster than the 3060. So, the RTX 2070 Super isn’t improving its performance per dollar ratio.
Rainbow Six Siege

Although, you don’t require high-end hardware to run the game. But for competitive matches, it’s important to get as much FPS as possible, which high-end GPUs can do.
Now, looking at the GPU fan curve, the RTX 2070 Super has a 20% harsher fan curve once again. However, even with such a harsh fan curve, it’s still 2C hotter than the RTX 3060.
These temperature differentials are most likely a cause of Turing’s older technology. While Ampere is infamous for its loose temperatures, in this benchmark test, we see the opposite.
Lastly, comparing FPS, the RTX 2070 Super has greater FPS again. With a ~7.53% FPS increase, the RTX 2070 Super doesn’t have an amazing FPS difference. Overall, if you’re looking for a GPU with good FPS and TDP, the RTX 3060 is your budget king.
Hitman 3

The next game on the list is Hitman 3 by IO Interactive. Provided that, Hitman 3 is probably one of the more unique titles on here. Due to its compelling graphics and unique storyline, Hitman 3 is as famous as ever. Likewise, due to its realistic graphics, the game requires strong hardware. Thus, Hitman 3 is an amazing option for benchmarking high-end GPUs such as the RTX 2070 Super and RTX 3060.
On the contrary, looking at the GPU temps, the RTX 3060 and 2070 Super have the same temperature. However, the only difference is that the RTX 2070 Super’s GPU fans are running 17% faster. In short, this means that the RTX 2070 Super is utilizing more wattage, making it less efficient.
Lastly, surveying the average FPS between the RTX 2070 Super Vs. 3060, the RTX 2070 Super has more FPS. Moreover, there is a significant ~18.8% FPS difference.
But, the uplift is useless if the performance does not match the pricing. As a result, we still do not recommend buying an RTX 2070 Super unless you don’t care about the prices.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Until now, we have listed two games by Ubisoft. Despite that, our third Ubisoft game is Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Although a bit outdated, this Assassin’s Creed game is widely known for its amazing gameplay and graphics. Above all, out of all the Assassin’s Creed games, Odyssey might be the most famous, right after Valhalla. Conversely, it’s one of the most difficult to run too.
Looking at the GPU temperatures and GPU fans, at last, the RTX 2070 Super is cooler than the RTX 3060. But, there’s a 16% difference in the fan speed curve for both GPUs.
While the GPU temperatures of the RTX 2070 Super have gone below the RTX 3060, the GPU is still inefficient. For a 1C difference, the RTX 3060’s fans are running at 42%, and the 2070 Super’s fans are at 58%.
To conclude, there isn’t much of an FPS difference in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. With a mere 3 FPS uplift, the RTX 2070 Super is ~4.69% faster than the RTX 3060 in the game. However, it’s still 59% more expensive than the RTX 3060, which makes the 2070 Super less viable.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Next, we have another Assassin’s Creed game by Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Firstly, with a release date of 2020, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one of the latest games in this benchmark test. Secondly, the game is famous for its graphics and storyline that surpass many open-world games. Likewise, to run a heavy game, you need hardware that can support it from the back. Therefore, the RTX 2070 Super and RTX 3060 are perfect for running the latest Assassin’s Creed games.
Unlike Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, where the RTX 2070 Super was cooler, the temperatures have increased in Valhalla. Furthermore, the RTX 2070 Super is 2C hotter, even with a 19% more aggressive fan curve. Subsequently, this proves that the RTX 3060 is more efficient regarding wattage consumption and relative TDP.
Lastly, talking about FPS, there is a greater FPS difference in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla than in Odyssey. Although not by a lot, the RTX 2070 Super is ~8.19% faster than the RTX 3060 in this game. However, the RTX 2070 Super fails to improve its performance per dollar ratio, making the RTX 3060 worth it.
World of Tanks

Ultimately, we have World of Tanks by Wargaming for our last benchmarking test. Being a multiplayer online game, World of Tanks is a one-of-a-kind game featuring 20th-century-era tanks. Also, the game isn’t particularly heavy, but you need more FPS in competitive games. Therefore, high-end GPUs are a godsend for competitive first-person games, which can help change the outcome due to single-frame differences.
To that end, by analyzing GPU temperatures, we see that the RTX 2070 Super is cooler than the RTX 3060. But, it’s only by 1C and with a 14% sharper fan curve. So, through this, we understand that the RTX 3060 has an efficient TDP, unlike what the rumors state. Although there is quite an FPS difference between both GPUs, the 2070 Super has an inefficient TDP.
Lastly, comparing FPS, the RTX 2070 Super has a higher average FPS of 224 against the 3060’s 194. Overall, that’s a 15.46% uplift for the RTX 2070 Super. However, due to its base price, the uplift is almost not worth it. Only consumers who don’t care about prices might buy an RTX 2070 Super at this point.
RTX 2070 Super Vs. 3060 Performance Verdict
After looking at the 1080P benchmark tests for the RTX 2070 Super Vs. 3060, we can make a moral standpoint. After all, the point of this article is to show which graphics card to pick. While many might think the RTX 2070 Super is better, they miss other essential criteria.
For example, fan control, temperatures, and performance per dollar ratio are important to check before buying a graphics card. Furthermore, looking at the RTX 2070 Super, the card only has better raw performance.
Overall, in terms of temperatures, fan curves, and price-performance ratio, the RTX 3060 is superior. However, many consumers don’t care about prices and only want the best product of the two. If that’s the case for you, you should go with the RTX 2070 Super.
Although, it’s important to note that you won’t be able to find a firsthand RTX 2070 Super anymore. Therefore, that’s another positive point for the RTX 3060.
Talking about the total FPS, the RTX 3060 has 1,294 FPS in 11 games while the 2070 Super has 1,444. In summary, the RTX 2070 Super is ~11.59% faster than the RTX 3060 throughout 11 games. But, it’s still ~59% more expensive, costing $619 compared to the RTX 3060’s $389.
If you’re looking to buy a great GPU at a not-so-premium cost, then the RTX 3060 is perfect. Despite that, if you’re looking to buy a GPU with maximum performance, you should look at the RTX 3090.
RTX 2070 Super Vs. 3060 Laptops
When talking about graphics cards, many users want to utilize the technology in the form of a laptop. However, not all graphics cards are available in a laptop variant, making it difficult for laptop users. On the contrary, many laptops utilize an RTX 2070 or 3060 variant. So, to know which laptop to go for, we have given our thoughts on the ones we think are best.
RTX 2070 Super Laptop
Consequently, one of the best laptops in the market now comes with an RTX 2070 Super. The ASUS ROG Strix G17 (2020) features a full-blown RTX 2070 Super. Also, along with an Intel i7-10750H processor, you can get most of your productivity work done too.

We will look at another difference between generations and compare Nvidia’s RTX 3060 and 2070 Super. Seeing the difference a generation can make and whether a lower SKU card can take the lead.
RTX 2070 Super was released in July 2019. The outgoing Turing architecture will last a little longer. While the RTX 3060 joined the 30 series lineup in February 2021. Offering a lower level option a little further down the line.
Specifically, the RTX 2070 Super is built with the TU104-410 GPU. Manufactured in TSMC’s 12nm process, making it a 545mm2 die with 13. 6 billion transistors. Whereas the RTX 3060 is a GA106-300 die. Which switched to Samsung’s 8nm process, creating a 276mm2 die containing 12 billion transistors.

In new generations, the architecture changes the layout of the GPU. So they are also likely to contain different specifications. We’ll take a look at how they differ and what it means to them.
GPU cores
Specialized parts of the matrix work with certain equations for different parts of the graphics. In particular, we are looking at shaders, RT and TMU cores. They work with shading and shadows, real-time ray tracing, and creating 3D objects from bitmaps.
Between the 3060 and 2070 Super we see a situation similar to other comparisons between Ampere and Turing. The 30 series card has more shaders, actually 40% more. While the 20 series leads in terms of RT and TMU cores. Approximately 43% more, which should give him an advantage in these works.
Video memory

3060 and 2060 Super price comparison
We compare the starting prices of the two cards to see what they were priced at. So the 2070 Super cost $499/£395 when it launched in 2019. Whereas the 3060 was set at $329/£299 two years later.
Although in the current GPU scarcity market, graphics cards are expensive. This means they are overpriced. Although prices have dropped and you can actually find the 3060 much cheaper than the 2070 Super. It can be found for $470 compared to $800 for the 2070. In the UK, the 3060 can be found for £400, while the 2070 Super is nowhere to be found. Trying to find it can be harder and more expensive.
