I built my PC on an i7 8700K, wouldn’t it be better with Ryzen?

At present, Intel still offers the best gaming performance. However, there is no longer a huge performance gap. Especially if you take into account several aspects. I built my PC on i7 8700K — but my friends chose AMD stones and say that it’s better this way . .. Let’s see.
What is the difference between Intel core i7 and core i9?
- Intel K series chips unlocked, all Ryzen too.
- All Intel consumer chips have 6 cores or less. Ryzen offers 6 or 8 cores in this range.
- Intel doesn’t have the best motherboard compatibility. With a free BIOS update, each AM4 MB socket will support a range of Ryzen series processors.
- There are no coolers in the Intel K series. Risen in the current composition has a cooler with each model. Pretty decent coolers by the way.
- 8700k is currently more expensive. Then add the Hyper 212 Evo cooler with its price. Opposition 2700x with cooler included will be a third cheaper.
- Intel overclocks better, but needs to compensate for multithreading losses in some workloads.
Yes, Ryzen processors tend to be cheaper than Intel processors, but those savings are fading fast. Due to the need for improved RAM in Ryzen. The Intel processor doesn’t care if you put in 1 stick or 4.
The Intel processor doesn’t care if you use 2133 or 3000 MHz. BUT your Ryzen… can’t use high MHz or dual speed and you know what happens with Ryzen… It sucks.
Ryzen, with its huge core count, is unique in how it’s designed. Ryzen cores work in pairs, not alone. This does not mean that Ryzen is bad, on the contrary, 4 paired messages are sent per paired main cycle.
That’s why Ryzen needs superior RAM…it eats data. If you can’t provide Ryzen with data, you’d better choose Core 2 Duo. In short, the money savings… are not really as big as everyone would like them to be. **
So who is ahead then?
AMD’s last 2 years have not been perfect. However, next year, when Ryzen 2 comes out on 7nm technology, Intel should be very worried. The smart instructions from Intel should now be gone.
With this, any AM4 motherboard owner will be able to upgrade to the new processor easily. Only with CPU replacement and free BIOS update.
Intel has been the leader for 10 years. Their methods are quite anti-competitive and they had no competition. This is all changing and like many other things in today’s society. The support of industrial giants is unpopular.
First, let’s get one thing out of the way: CPU performance is the least impactful aspect of gaming performance.
For a well-made Premium game, you will always see 95-100% GPU usage and around 20-30% CPU usage. If we are talking about a decent 8th gen or Ryzen.
All this talk of fighting between Intel and AMD is essentially meaningless (or makes very little sense) for gaming. Unless you’re a few generations behind (but then that’s a different kind of chatter).
What’s true is that no matter what application is currently running on your desktop (including the browsers your single-threaded web applications are running). They are becoming more and more parallelized. And rely more and more on sharing more and more data (which is where IO and storage come in). play).
We’ve actually upgraded most of our lineup and made it multi-threaded wherever we could share our data. You need cores, you need threads, you need the processor’s ability to process them consistently quickly.
And with today’s technology, you need PCIe lanes to quickly connect peripherals.
Intel doesn’t understand this
I put it on a separate line for emphasis. They consider the Hyper Threading as a bonus, they actually released the 9th gen i7 in 2018. Yes, in 2018, without him. Lol.
All I’m going to say about this case is Lol. They also consider having more than 16 PCIe lanes to be «high-end». No, it’s not. It wasn’t 3 years ago, but it’s certainly not the case now.
At some point a couple of years ago they figured it out. I have an i7-5930K at work, which at the time cost less than an i9-9900K but had 40 lanes and 6 HT cores. Since my peripherals are directly connected to the CPU, I use about 28. And I don’t have to rely on PCH because it’s all about x4 equivalent bandwidth.
Imagine M.2 NVMe storage sitting directly on CPU lanes rather than chipset lanes, sharing bandwidth and latency with all other interruptible hardware.
When I think about upgrading to 9900K, I actually think I’m downgrading everything for improved single core performance. And this is not the feeling that your potential customers might feel :).
