Bose Companion 2 Series III Design
Bose Companion 2 Series III was designed seven years ago. It has a more modern design in comparison to several other speakers that have been produced in 2013.

However, the speaker is not wireless and can only be connected through wires just like Logitech Z323 and Z313 that can only support wired connection. Thus, which may not give your personal computer the less messy look you desire.
The speaker has all its ports located on the back of the right hand speaker. The left speaker is connected to the right speaker, which is in turn connected to the computer. It is expedient to mention that the speaker is lightweight and very portable in design.
Features of the Bose Companion 2 Series III
Sound Quality
Determining the sound quality is the main priority of this Bose Companion 2 Series III review.
The Bose Companion 2 Series III is a really loud speaker with an average sound quality. Because it doesn’t have a separate subwoofer unlike Harmon Kardon Onyx Studio 3 and 4 with two 75mm woofers and two 20mm tweeters, it does not have a tight bass response. However, it is strong enough to deliver a wide space of sound.
Connections
The Bose Companion 2 Series III connection is basic and involves a lot of wiring unlike other high-rated computer soundbars or speakers available today. You have to connect the left speaker to the right speaker, which in turn, you will connect to your computer.
Also, you have to connect the right speaker to a power source. If you want to use a headset or earpiece, the right speaker has an AUX jack, allowing you to connect your headphones without disconnecting your speaker. You can choose to convert your speaker into wireless if you want a clutter free setup.
Compatibility with Operating Systems
The Bose Companion 2 Series III is compatible with all computer software. It works perfectly on Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows XP as well. It works perfectly on Apple PCs [1] as well.
In a nutshell, the Bose Companion 2 Series III speaker is compatible with any computer with an audio jack irrespective of the operating system the computer is using. You can easily connect these computer speakers to TV, as well.
Bose Companion 2 Series III Setup
Setting up the Bose Companion 2 Series III is as easy as it can get. Unlike portable Bluetooth speakers like JBL Flip 4 and Flip 5, you need to connect the left speaker to the power source. After that, you’ll connect the right speaker to it using an aux cord, and then connect to your computer from the right speaker.
Price of the Bose Companion 2 Series III
The Bose Companion 2 Series iii is cheap compared to other speakers of the same function.
How do I connect my Bose Companion 2 speakers to my computer?
You can connect your Bose Companion 2 speakers to your computer by connecting the right speaker using an AUX cord to your computer through its audio port.
How many watts is Bose Companion 2?
The Bose Companion 2 is approximately 42 watts, and this is a considerable watt amount for a wired speaker.
Can you add a subwoofer to Bose Companion 2?
You can add a subwoofer to Bose Companion 2 by using the audio port situated in front of the right speaker.
Bose Companion 2 Series III Review Conclusion
The Bose Companion 2 Series III review has highlighted the key things to note about the Bose Companion 2 Series III. The Bose Companion speaker is an excellent speaker to give you great quality sound and features without having to spend too much of your money. With a token, you can have speakers with strong sound quality and loudness, as well as, a stressless headphone connection.

Enjoy premium stereo sound from your computer with the Bose Companion® 3 Series II multimedia speaker system. This 3-piece speaker system produces clean, spacious audio with deep, rich bass that draws you into your music and game soundtracks. The included stands angle the compact left and right speakers slightly upward for optimal listening, and the separate Acoustimass® module slips neatly under your desk.
Expansive sound from a discreet system
The key to the Companion® 3 system’s wide-open sound is Bose’s TrueSpace signal processing circuitry — it creates a broad soundstage from slim speakers spaced no further apart than the width of your computer monitor. The small satellites handle the upper frequencies, while the Acoustimass® module adds impressive lows. Together they give you warm, lifelike sound that most conventional computer speakers simply can’t match.
Control at your fingertips
The Companion® 3 system also includes an easy-to-use control pod. It houses the volume control as well as a headphone jack and an auxiliary input for an iPod® or other MP3 player. The separate control pod means you can place the speakers out of the way and still have easy access to the system’s volume control and connections for additional gear.

Audition speakers before you buy
SpeakerCompare simulates the sound of home and car speakers through your headphones. It lets you compare sonic characteristics between speakers so that you can make a more informed shopping decision.
Why selecting your headphones is important
SpeakerCompare tailors your listening experience to the exact headphones you have, so that what you hear is comparable to auditioning speakers side-by-side in person. Knowing which model headphones you’re using lets us remove any sonic coloring from your experience.
Two different listening modes
In an actual listening room, you’d find that some speakers play louder than others when fed the same amount of power. In equal power mode, you’ll hear these differences in loudness as they naturally occur between speakers.
In equal volume mode, we’ve made the loudness of each speaker about the same. This gives you a more direct comparison of subtle voicing differences between speakers.
Nothing beats listening to speakers in your space
SpeakerCompare gives you a sense of the sonic differences. But performance in the real world is affected by the acoustics of your car or home, your choice of amplification, and your source material. We still believe that the gold standard for auditioning speakers is hearing them in your own environment — that’s why we offer a 60-day money-back guarantee.
Our Listening Kit
To help you choose the right speakers, we recommend using Crutchfield’s SpeakerCompare Listening Kit. It includes a pair of studio-quality headphones, and a guide to getting the most out of your session, and a few other necessary items. We’ve carefully chosen the components of this kit to ensure a crystal-clear listening experience. It’s available for a nominal rental fee, and includes a $25 Crutchfield merchandise credit.

Pros:
Before that I had a Defender Volcano 2 (two speakers with an amplifier) and I thought it was just the coolest speakers with a very decent sound for the money (within 200 bucks). But a month ago I bought a Bose Companion II (the last version in the picture) and I’m not overjoyed. I understood how music can sound. When I turned it on for the first time, my smile did not leave for about 5 minutes from such a juicy sound, regardless of the volume, you get the entire sound range from the very bottom (actually 35 dB can play) to the very top. Well, at maximum volume they play very powerfully and there is no sound distortion in principle. On other computer speakers, always when playing at the maximum, hoarseness appears, or a large spread in sound does not finish playing. All this is not here. Here, the music simply plays louder without audible loss of sound (frequency spread). They don’t officially say how many watts the system puts out, but she put my defender (120 watts) on both blades. About the placement of the columns, the full truth. From the arrangement, the perception of sound really changes. Well, they look very dignified, there is also a volume control: very comfortable and pleasant to the touch.
The speakers and the remote have rubber things at the bottom and stand in place like a glove.
Faults:
Ears are very easy to plant. You listen a lot, then it rings in your ears for half a day, you need to be careful of course =)
Comment:
And finally, I will add that you will like much more songs on these speakers, since not all speakers can convey the real sound of songs.
Kolbaskin Stas, 12/13/2014
Advantages:
Bose does not need advertising, actually… Goblin on his website said that he replaced the acoustics in his private car and eventually threw out most of the music CDs. I wrote to him, was not too lazy, what brand of acoustics he bought for himself. The answer was short — Bose! I bought acoustics for my Bose Companion 3 computer. By the way, the picture of this model is wrong on Yandex — you can check it on the Bose Russia website. What can I say — Bose is a masterpiece! The purest, transparent high frequencies, which give a stunning stereo effect, however, you have to tinker with the placement of the satellites — their location is quite significant. I’ll keep quiet about the woofer too — well, there are no more such basses in computer triples! And!!! The volume control placed in a separate control has (read on the Bose home site, very vaguely said) excellent loudness: when the volume is turned down, the middle is reduced most of all, high and low frequencies are reduced less, in proportion to the sensitivity curves of the ear.
In addition, the pad on the volume control serves as a touch mute. As a result, I began to clearly distinguish between the quality of mp3 and flac recordings — some have deep, elastic and «roaring» basses, while others simply do not have them … Sitting on the couch 2.5 meters from the computer, I feel the soft bass of the toy, in which the wife plays. The volume control is barely turned on, just to indicate the sound … After 21 hours I don’t turn it on — the bass even at the minimum volume bothers the neighbors.
Disadvantages:
Inconvenient power switch — on the back of the bass unit, however, this is a well-thought-out solution — well, not to put it on the remote volume control . ..
Comment:
From the Internet: «BOSE products were chosen by some of the world leaders in production vehicles such as MERCEDES, JAGUAR, General Motors, to provide their products with high quality sound.BOSE systems are equipped with: portable speaker set of the Pope, the US President’s yacht «SEQUELA», the Olympic Games in Calgary, Albertville and Barcelona, special acoustics of the armed forces USA, House of the Government of the Russian Federation, the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Museum of the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Gora, the zoo of Moscow, etc.” I think it’s a good enough feature. Yes, they forgot the spacecraft of the Shuttle / series.
parabellum06-94, 04/03/2014
Advantages:
the purest sound, powerful bass, very loud, almost complete absence of distortion in sound, very compact, convenient remote control.
Disadvantages:
is hard to buy, it’s expensive =)
Comment:
the sound is simply gorgeous like at a concert, I can’t even believe that such a «big» sound can come from such small satellites. It wins back its money one hundred percent.
Guest, 03/16/2014
Advantages:
With such a small size of satellites, the sound is clear, rich, juicy, which is surprising. Bass can be turned down or up depending on the situation, which is very handy.
Faults:
Slight buzzing of the power supply in the subwoofer, heard at night. Of course it depends on where it is installed. Particular care must be taken when unpacking the wires. After vigorously stretching the cord by the seller in the company store in order to find out its length, the satellite in my house refused to make even the slightest sound! I had to take it back and change it to a working one from the window. Wires from satellites with tulips at the end, and as it turned out, not very reliable. Require a shop check or prevent the salesperson from unrolling the cord at all, as this is often done in a rush and inaccurately.
Migunov Grigory, 06. 11.2013
Pros:
— Sound quality
— Build quality
— Volume
— Size
— Appearance
Cons:
— Price
— In complete silence, we can distinguish a small noise (most likely this is interference, since the system is located next to the computer and the heating battery)
Comment:
I hesitated for a long time before buying, the main reason was the price. 14 thousand for a computer speaker system is still a little expensive, but after the purchase I never regretted and did not remember the money spent, the system fully met its expectations. Clean and transparent high frequencies; soft, tight bass. You can give many colorful epithets, however, when you listen to music, you don’t think that it comes from the speakers, it just flows by itself. For the sake of objectivity, it is worth noting that this is still computer acoustics, this is not a product for audiophiles, and, of course, you should not compare it with a full set of an expensive receiver and acoustics. It’s not worth talking about the quality of performance, the brand speaks for itself, Bose, everything is at the highest level, you don’t have to worry that in a year, two, three, something will start ringing or falling off. With careful use, the system is ready to last up to 10 years or more. When I made a choice between this model and the Bose Companion 5, I doubted the volume, are such small satellites capable of delivering enough power? Yes, they are capable, in a room of 12 square meters they never turned on more than half. The so-called «washer» (volume control with Mute button) is very pleasant to the touch, the volume changes smoothly, and the large touch-sensitive Mute button responds to the lightest touch of a finger. It also has 2 headphone jacks and a line-in jack, respectively.
In conclusion, I would like to say about lossless music formats. The difference between 128kbps mp3 and 1000+kbps lossless becomes much more noticeable.
Conclusion: The Bose Companion 3 speaker system fully met my expectations and satisfied all my needs for high-quality sound. Take it, you won’t regret it! =)
Guest, 03.11.2012
Advantages:
I think this is the best computer acoustics 2.1 for a music lover. With such a small size of the satellites, they sound very pleasant, clear, the output volume is simply amazing. Unfortunately, the output power is not indicated in the instructions, I can only focus on my previous Logitech z 2300 acoustics, which produced 200 watts, I got the impression that the power was in the range of 160-180 watts. Loud enough, even the neighbors came, living two floors below)))
The sound is clear, especially if you pick up a good sound card. When the volume is increased, the sound remains the same clear, saturated.
Disadvantages:
Not found.
Comment:
Wonderful acoustics, compact, stylish, people pay attention, especially when they hear what these kids are capable of)))
Ab Max, 09/03/2012
Advantages:
Undoubtedly, the sound quality. Clear, deep bass which is enough even if you set the subwoofer control to a minimum. Very impressed.
The highs don’t lift up and sound clear and natural. If you place the speakers correctly (as in the figure while maintaining the recommended distance), then there will be a clear stereo effect.
Do not wheeze even at maximum volume. Lots of power, IMHO. (take care of your neighbors!)
The small dimensions of the speakers in general — it was important for me.
P.S. If it is possible to listen to the speakers before buying, be sure to do it, because. it is very difficult to describe the sound in words, besides, see for yourself everything.
Personally, I have never seen 2.1 systems with such sound quality and such small dimensions, but at the same time, don’t expect anything supernatural from a 2.1 system.
Disadvantages:
Perhaps the price. So far I haven’t found any other flaws.
Comment:
I bought the system in the USA, they work from a voltage of 120v 50-60Hz, so I had to buy a step-down transformer to work from our network voltage. , and the speakers work stably).
It may also be useful for someone to know the length of the cords (approximately in cm): From the satellites — 170; the length of the «washer» cord — volume control — 230.
In general, the system is chic, fully satisfies my «music taste»!!!!
Have a good choice everyone!!!
Bogdanov Alexey, 05/25/2012
Advantages:
thought for a long time which system to take, chose between, Logitech Z623 and Microlab H-220, both models seem to be quite powerful, but then I saw a BOSE system at a friend’s house, though he has Companion 5, I was so delighted, so I still haven’t heard a clear bass from anyone at home, all the instruments are clearly audible, and I decided to also buy BOSE, finances didn’t allow me to buy Companion 5, and I thought 3, I listened to everything in the store exactly the same, only at 3,230 watts, and in 5,300, but believe me, 230 is enough for you, in general, I advise everyone, I am very happy with the purchase and have never regretted the money spent.
Drawbacks:
no
Guest, 09.02.2012
Advantages:
Good power and sound quality of a subwoofer with very modest dimensions and weight.
Disadvantages:
Controversial sound of satellites, absolutely idiotic location of the switch and bass tone control knobs, the only adjustment on the remote control.
Comment:
The set was purchased to replace the Edifier S530 and, to be honest, it did not show any special advantages over it, except for the weight and dimensions. The sub here is really better, reproduces lower frequencies and is more pure. But the satellites, in my opinion, somehow blur the high frequencies in a strange way; they do not ring, but rustle, and at medium and high volumes, the middle ones begin to bulge out, so much so that you can’t hear either bass or highs, you have to seriously tinker with equalizers. The control panel, which everyone admires so much, would really be a «masterpiece» (as it is written in the review), if it could do elementary things — turn the entire system on and off and adjust the tone at least in bass. The Logitech Z2300 remote control can do all this, and the design is no worse, but no one calls it a masterpiece. The cheaper Edifier generally has two remotes (one remote). that govern everything. The black and gray design looks good in photographs against a white background, but on dark brown (namely, color 95% of computer desks) it is simply lost. And, although, in general, the sound is quite pleasant and balanced, I would not pray for this device. For, alas, even the sun has spots. P.S. When the volume is turned up to maximum, be careful with the mute sensor, because both amplifiers and speakers really don’t like sudden changes in power: I’m telling you like a doctor, ugh, as a radio engineer. Good luck to all.
Lazarev Vitaly, 09/08/2011
Pros:
Deep bass. Great power.
Faults:
Muffled highs. I’m a little disappointed.
Guest, 07/09/2011

Guest, 06.10.2010
Advantages:
Excellent, clear sound.
Disadvantages:
The bass is not deep enough for my taste and the sound is not as clear as Companion 5.
Comment:
Companion 3 is a great system, but if you are in this price category, take Companion 5. There is a difference and it’s worth it.
Malofeev Ivan, 04. 02.2010
Advantages:
With such a small size of satellites, the sound quality is very high. Yesterday I carried it from the store, and I will tell you that this is not an easy burden. The magnets on the speakers are weighty hence the sound quality + proprietary confusion over the sound. It sounds no worse, rather even better than the KW-th Panasonic cinema. I start listening to hard rock. Previously, I did not understand how to listen to this nonsense, because it was more like not music, but the noise of a federal highway. Stereo clear. Frequency separation is excellent. My next purchase will be noise canceling headphones from this manufacturer.
Disadvantages:
Apart from the price, there is nothing to reproach for, after listening, you understand what you are paying for. Although there is another drawback, but rather to the manufacturer rather than products. No product characteristics: frequency range, power and so on. Because of this, many, when searching by characteristics, will not see this product in Yandex Market, Mail. ru Products and similar search engines.
Comment:
I consider my review to be rather damp in terms of product reliability.
cyberpismo 09.12.2009
Advantages:
Compactness, power, sound quality
Disadvantages:
price, barely noticeable hiss when the sound is off. Shhh .. if you bring it to your ear. Not annoying! just eat.
Comment:
I agree with the comments indicating 5 stars, there is no point in repeating. I liked that with such dimensions, a decent margin of power. For those who doubt the volume is such that it is impossible to sit near them at the maximum. And at the maximum quality is not lost at all. The sound quality is excellent, the detail is on top, the bass is audible even at the minimum volume, the sensitivity is beyond praise. Speakers ONLY for the computer for which they are made. It makes no sense to use them for television, and no! they won’t cover the living room with sound. BUT for a computer, nothing better can be found. They can play very quietly with a balance of bass (which is impressive) and very loud (which is again impressive) for their size.

Advantages:
Sound! Yes, the design of the unexpectedly heavy metal satellites and the volume control’s touch washer play a role, but the sound comes first! Of all the things I’ve heard before, it’s most similar to the sound in IMAX cinemas. The same deep «natural» bass, more like the sound and sensations of a passing Belaz or a working press in the next room — at the same time a powerful vibration and a formidable, sometimes ear-bursting bass! The subwoofer has two seemingly identical speakers — one is directed at you, the other is directed to the floor, and the second speaker creates vibrations in time with the main one. The speakers analyze the sound coming to them and automatically adjust it to their capabilities, so that movies and music tracks always have clear and clearly distinguishable voices, without whistling and poking.
