Masterpieces of domestic modding / Sudo Null IT News

Since it’s gone

such a booze

the trend of reviewing and discussing modding cases, I’ll highlight the masterpieces of domestic modding. Perhaps, not the most beautiful cases will be described here, but some of the most famous ones, which were not just gathering dust under the table.

In Russia, modding appeared at the beginning of the last decade. But active development began in 2005. It was then that good works began to appear, including custom cases.

One of the first successful Russian projects is Mecanique.

The mod is based on the Chieftec AH-01SL-U case.

First of all, the “head” for the body was made:

It does not carry a functional load. Only decorative.

Well, of course, then a beautiful wall was made, which served as the main highlight of the case:

The result is one of the first domestic works worth something.

At the same time, «Snake» appears on the arena of Russian modding, creating more than one corps and becoming one of the most famous modders. The project was (I think) called BombPC.

Unfortunately, there is no worklog for this work, so we can only enjoy the photos of the already assembled case.

In 2005, not the most successful Ferrari project was made, but after repainting in 2006, the body changed and began to look much better.

The engraving on the side glass is fascinating.

The author even took care of the carrying handles.

The case turned out really «Ferrari».

Modder xooler pleased us with interesting work.

The name of the work is MAXX Project.

The case is an enlarged copy of the GeForce 7950GX2 video card.

And again the building from the Serpent — AkasaBuild.

The name of the corps was a competition for which modding was done.

The case is very thin.

We can say that this is the first nettop.

In 2007 Zmey will please us with two more buildings.
The first one is LowSphere.

The case is assembled from 5 pentagons and 5 hexagons, just like a soccer ball.

Even when the light is on, the case never ceases to please the eye.

And the second project is SLI-CUBE.

The hull was made for the SLI Fast and the Furious competition.

Made of acrylic and pvc.

And one more case — Nebuchadnezzar from Tirex.

Work on it started back in 2006, and a year later we saw the result.

Modder tarator has also worked on a slim case called Razor Light.

Case height 41cm, depth 24cm, thickness 6.5cm.

In addition to small corps, huge monsters began to appear:

The corps did not receive any name.

Not only metal attracted Russian modders. Tsvik Ivan made a wooden box.

Inside lies the most precious thing — the motherboard, video card . ..

A window cut at the top gives the «box» a certain charm.

In 2008, Strannik’s Dark Side case is definitely worth mentioning.

Despite the simplicity of the design — two combined tubes, it looks very stylish.

Carbon fiber decals and orange backlighting make it look like a UFO.

Pipes are like turbines.

In addition to futuristic cases, you can also find beautiful cases of an older theme.

Package name — Double pentode. The body was made by Alexander Timoshkin aka TANk.

But once computers consisted of a huge number of such «bulbs».

Modder tarator made a second version of the Razor Light

This time the dimensions of the case were 95x190x350 mm.

Another SLI case made by modder DIMA.

Case name: nVidia Mechano SLI project.

With two gears, the modder tried to depict the work of two video cards in a bundle.

Finally, from the beginning of the decade, we gradually approached its end. The Sharp Edges case from modder Mr_Pet is in a hurry to please your eye.

Soft white glow in a black body makes a lasting impression in the dark.

The project has been made since 2007.

Modder IIIaMaH made a very nice custom using acrylic.

The project, unfortunately, remained without a name.

Evgeniy (gameover) made the most interesting work «The Fabric Case».

The case looks very unusual.

Although the case is small in size, it can fit an ATX motherboard.

It’s not always necessary to build a case from scratch in order to impress. A good example of this is Tony’s InWin S500 case mod.

Painting, windows and good lighting — what else is needed for happiness?

The pipes from the water cooling system and the iron pipes that wrap the wires from the power supply unit leave a sense of futurism.

I would like to finish on this beautiful case. Modding in Russia is developing at a good pace. Looking forward to more masterpieces from the current decade =).

UPD: Thanks for the karma, I moved the iron to the blog.

Best cases with Case Mod World Series 2020!

CoolerMaster selected all the participants who will compete for the main prize of $4,000 at the annual Case Mod World Series 2020 case modding contest. You can vote for the best case on the site, leave the link below.
We have selected for you the most interesting cases of the competition. Some of the work is really impressive.

Website with a competition.

One of our favorites: the chic mecha body RX-0 Destroy by Inony inspired by anime Gundam . The detail is amazing, so many small details. Despite the size and detail, the author claims that the hull is extremely easy to maintain, and serviceability is one of the things that was emphasized when creating the hull. The work was done during quarantine.

The stages of creation can be viewed here.

And here is the case inspired by last year’s main game Cyberpunk 2077 , namely the grouping Maelstrom . A distinctive feature of the case is the face of a group member mounted in the front, interesting lighting and collectible RTX 2080TI Cyberpunk 2077 Edition . Created by the Italian Extreme Modders team.

The stages of creation can be viewed here.

Another mind-blowing body in the universe Cyberpunk 2077 from Mayhem Modz , based on the motorcycle Yaiba Kusanagi . Not only the case itself is impressive, but also the process of its creation, each plate is a separate element, which was then assembled into this case. The filling and the screen are also impressive, the feeling that this body is not inferior to a real bike in terms of assembly complexity.

At first glance, a simple but rather nice case Overwatch Lootbox by Soul-i-Doll . The main feature is the opening of the case when turned on. Accurate assembly, pleasant colors, we were hooked, although there is nothing super outstanding in it.

Creation process here.

The second coolest case +1 Hacking-Skill by modLab , maybe even the best. The simplest idea is to take a computer from Fallout ‘s universe and recreate it in the real world. And no, this is not just a case with decorative elements, this is a working computer with a real keyboard, touchpad and a full screen Sunfounder 10.1» IPS . Yes, the filling here is not the most powerful, the 8th generation Intel Core i5 and GTX 1650 , but it’s quite real to play Fallout !

Inside the case is made no worse than outside, in general, one of the contenders for victory. The creation process can be viewed here.

This case reminds us of something from the universe Portal , but the author himself says that he was inspired by fish Betta . One of the most unusual buildings of the competition, an interesting idea, excellent implementation. The development process is here.

Extremely stylish case, interesting enough to be included in the selection, but outwardly restrained compared to competitors. Chic colors and detailing, as well as an interesting approach to the case back, cable management — 10/10.

Creation process here.

Anime people here? On the spot! Bright and juicy ship assembly based on the One Piece anime universe. Of the pluses, bright colors, good detailing at the level of premium figurines, but there are also minuses — there are few interesting chips with backlighting, it is completely unclear how the computer will look in the dark.
