  • I installed DirectX Runtime for the end user, but I have DirectX 11, there will be a problem?

I have Windows 7 and so I always got DirectX 11, but someone on this forum recommended update DirectX and I didn’t know how to so I just downloaded this thing official Web sites, called for the final user DirectX Runtime Web install which is apparently for version 9.29.1974. I want to know if this will become a problem for my computer.

    Hi WiccanxHulkling,

No it will not become a problem you already have Direct X 11 on the computer.

Some games or software may require an earlier version of DirectX so you can install the earlier version and it wouldn’t effect the version of DirectX that is installed on the computer.

However, in accordance with the following article x 11 Direct include Direct X 10 and 10.1

  • Do I need to install the DirectX end-user Runtime?

Today on the Microsoft.com home page, is a banner of Silverlight full-width, and a section is a link to ‘Get the update of DirectX’.  By clicking on the link takes you here.

This download says download page is for Windows 7 (and practically all other OS made in the last decade)… but do I need?  I do not understand why I would install DirectX 9. something when I’m on Windows 7, which already uses a newer version of DirectX.

I’m a tech person.  I live and I dream of MSDN and TechNet, I know best practices and read the KB for fun. .. so if I’m confused about this, I can’t imagine how to confuse any normal user is when they see a banner telling them to install DirectX 9.

  • Internal error during the installation of DirectX for the user final web runtime install

    Hi all

I was browsing the forums and reading the discussions that relate to my question.  Unfortunately, each of the solutions that I found do not seem to solve my specific problem.

I recently got a new laptop (Dell E6540) and thought I’d try world of combat aircraft.  My old laptop did not have a graphics card that has been up to the task, but I think this one does.

I am running Windows 7, which integrates the latest version of DirectX (11).  I downloaded and installed the game, and when I click on ‘Play’, I get the message informing me that I’m missing the d3dx9_43.dll.  I then visit the Microsoft Download Center and try to download the installer of web runtime DirectX end-user.  Following the installation of the components in the stage of finalisation of the web installer, I get the following message:

«An internal system error has occurred.  Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine the problem. »

I then click OK in the error message, the web installer shows failed to install, so I click «Finish.»  At this point, the popsup Program Compatibility Assistant, saying: the program may not be installed properly and gives me the opportunity to ‘Reinstall using recommended settings’, what I’m doing.  Then run the web installer a second time, giving me the same error internal system presented above.

I wonder if someone might have suggestions as to how I can resolve this issue (or to find the above mentioned .log files).

    Thanks for your help.

While Win7 installed DX 9, 10 and 11 it does not install with all files.
d3dx9_43.dll is the latest DX 9 files.
The best method when you have not already updated DX is to use the DX Web Installer,.
then you can try using them.
Download DirectX end-user Runtime Web Installer from the official Microsoft Download Center

If you have the same problem with the DX Web Installer trying to boot into Safe Mode with networking
and try to run the installation program from there Web DX.

-L’ Web Installer does not overwrite the DX files, it only installs the DX ‘missing’ files, so when it
is a DX of corrupted files and you do not receive an error with the name that you will need to use the full
DirectX Redist (2010), which I assume is what you are trying to use, as this will overwrite all the
    DX files.
-Similarly, you can use Safe Mode (networking not required that you have all files) may
be used when there is a problem installing DX with the complete installation program.

-When there is a corrupted file of DX and you get the name of this file, an error, as with
your d3dx9_43.dll, you can delete this file in System32 (sysWOW64 when using 64-bit
Windows) and when you run the Web Installer will replace the now «missing» with a new file
    copy.

Absence of the foregoing, it may be your problem is more to do not have the necessary permissions to
    install the DX.
This could be due to UAC settings too high, does not not as administrator or another
restrictive framework, maybe even your anti-virus (disable temporarily when trying to install DX).
Try — R / click the DXSETUP.exe. Then go to Properties-compatibility and check the box
next to the race… as an administrator.

Without apparent reason, Direct X has suddenly stopped working. I can’t play Solitaire or the Sims 2. There are two DirectX install ‘things’.

It looks like you were using the Installer Web of DirectX, which is an update of DirectX.

The update only installs the DirectX ‘missing’ files and does not overwrite the existing DirectX files.

which is what is needed if a DirectX file or files is damaged.

-It may be that your error is the result of corrupted files. It happens from time to time. Sometimes because

a game or other software borks DX format when it insists on the installation of DX again for you.

The DirectX Redist (June 2010) below to replace all DirectX files.

When you run the installer it will ask you where you want to save the downloaded installation program then

«unpacks» the installation of DirectX in the selected folder.

After unpacking, open that folder and locate the DXSETUP.exe. This will reinstall DirectX, and

should at least eliminate corrupt files DX as the source of the error.

    Shalini,

Games DirectX 9 requires DirectX 9 dll. This is a common problem… see games like NeverWinter Nights 2, which cannot be run on Windows 7 unless DirectX9 is installed (even if, Yes, Windows 7 comes with DirectX 11). Mass Effect is one of those games that requires DX9 DLL files, and it does not run.

It seems that the problem had to do with the missing system files… SFC/scannow revealed several missing files that could not be replaced. Most of them appeared related to .net Framework… I think it’s maybe because I installed .net 4.0 Beta 2 to try to get the Zune software running. However, I was forced to do a reinstall of Windows 7 to install DirectX 9 (which worked immediately after the new facility). No idea why this could cause problems with the installation of DirectX 9, but that’s the best explanation I have right now.

Still, your point is not not possible to install DirectX 9 on Windows 7 is not correct. It is possible and necessary to run some games.

How To Reinstall DirectX on Windows 11/10

Thanks to the graphical capabilities of the DirectX API, Microsoft Windows has established itself as the best operating system for gaming. But what should you do when this crucial component is not functioning properly on your computer?

DirectX had to be installed separately in earlier versions of Windows since it was often packaged along with games. These days, however, the process is supposed to be automatic, which makes finding a way to do it manually a bit tricky. To help you out, here are all the methods to reinstall DirectX on your Windows PC.

    Table of Contents

When Do You Need To Reinstall DirectX on Your Computer?

By default, Windows 11/10 already includes the latest version of DirectX 12. Usually, this means that your PC remains up to date on any new drivers, giving you the best graphical performance on your hardware.

But it is sometimes possible to run into glitches. Maybe your Windows updates are paused. Perhaps the DirectX installation has gotten corrupted. Whatever the reason, if there are any graphical issues on your computer (such as in running video games), then the first thing to try is to reinstall DirectX.

Method #1: Download the DirectX Installer

While DirectX is installed and updated automatically, a standalone installer still exists. It can be used to manually add outdated DirectX modules on your computer without removing your existing DirectX installation.

      1. To get the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer, head to Microsoft’s official website. The installer is tiny, as the files required during installation are downloaded.
      1. Run this setup and accept the license agreement. Make sure you are still connected to the internet, as any modules that need to be installed will be retrieved now.
      1. Depending on the version of DirectX already installed, it can take anything between a few seconds to an hour. If your PC is not missing any DirectX components, the setup will exit without making any changes.

Using the official Windows installer is the recommended method for reinstalling DirectX on your system. You shouldn’t face any DirectX-related issues once the Runtime Installer has done its thing.

Method #2: Check for Windows Updates

As DirectX is included in Windows 11/10 by default, you don’t need to look for a standalone installer. Just staying updated is enough to ensure that your system is running the latest version of DirectX 12, as Windows updates include DirectX packages.

      1. To check for Windows Updates, head to the Start menu and open Settings.
      1. In the window that appears, select Update & Security.
      1. The very first tab in this category of settings is the Windows Update. Use the Check for updates button to refresh Windows. If any updates are pending, Windows will now detect and install them.

Once you are up-to-date with your Windows Updates, you don’t need to worry about reinstalling DirectX anymore. The operating system will automatically configure the DirectX modules to give you the latest possible version that your hardware can support.

Method #3: Disable Third-Party Apps and Services

In case the first two methods don’t work, it’s likely the problem lies elsewhere. Very rarely, a third-party application or service interferes with DirectX. This interference can cause DirectX issues even with the correct version installed on your computer.

      1. To disable Startup Services, open the Task Manager. You can either use the Ctrl + Alt + Del keyboard shortcut or right-click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager from the menu.
      1. If this is your first time opening Task Manager, you will only be able to see running applications rather than any services or processes. To get the full view, select More details.
      1. Task Manager will now display every running task on your PC, including system processes or background tasks. Switch to the Startup tab.
      1. In the Startup tab is the list of all services run by default upon booting up your PC. Not only do these apps slow down your computer, but they can often cause conflicts with other more critical applications. Select all unnecessary services and select the Disable button.
      1. Startup services aren’t the only resource-hogging applications running on your computer. There are plenty of services that do not show up in that list but keep running in the background anyway. To disable such tasks, open System Configuration by searching for it from the Start menu.
      1. The MSConfig system utility lets you configure the startup option on your computer and is much more detailed than the Task Manager. Note the Normal startup option on this screen; once you are done with diagnostics, you need to enable this to return things to normal. For now, select the Services tab to continue.
      1. All the background services running on your PC are listed here. This includes system processes as well, so enable the Hide all Microsoft services checkbox to remove them. Now you can use the Disable all button to shut down all these extra processes.

Note that this step is not permanent. Many of the services on this list, while not essential, are still somewhat useful and need to be working for the best performance of your computer. This only allows us to check if any third-party application might be interfering with your DirectX installation.

All you now need to do is to restart your PC and see if DirectX is functioning. If it is, then one of the services from the previous list is the culprit. We recommend enabling them one by one to find the offending application, after which you can uninstall or disable it.

Once done, remember to go back to the System Configuration app and select Normal startup to set things back to the default.

Method #4: Run System File Checker in Command Prompt

If you’ve installed DirectX correctly, updated your computer, and even checked for any conflicting services, the only possibility remaining is data corruption. Corrupted drivers and system files can often throw weird errors and can be hard to diagnose.

      1. To find and fix any corrupted system files on your computer, open Command Prompt as an administrator. Just type cmd in the Search box to find the application.
      1. We will be using a command prompt utility called System File Checker. As the name suggests, it checks all system files for any data corruption, fixing the affected files. Enter the command sfc /scannow to run the tool.
      1. System File Checker will now scan your Windows installation and verify the integrity of each file. Once the scan is complete, all your system files have been checked and repaired.

What Is the Best Way To Reinstall DirectX on Windows 11/10?

Since DirectX is an integral component of Windows 11/10, you usually don’t have to worry about installing it yourself. Instead, windows updates will patch DirectX issues automatically, leaving you free to play games and run other graphical applications.

But in case your computer shows issues with the DirectX, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to reinstall it manually. You can use Microsoft’s standalone installer for this purpose or just ensure that your Windows Updates are not being stalled.

When installing DirectX is not the issue, you should check for conflicting applications and system corruption. Fixing these things ensures that DirectX will run smoothly on your Windows computer.

a standard set of programs for creating spreadsheets, presentations, drawing and typing, and today you will learn why this is so.

However, even if you were not interested in this application before, it is likely that it is already installed on your PC, because it is one of the basic ones, and if you did not install the system yourself, then most likely, according to the standard, you installed it , or it even came with Windows bundled.

Overview of the DirectX program and its functions

Almost all more or less complex operations carried out through Windows are performed through DirectX, more precisely through the API. The largest application of the program is seen in the field of computer games, both in their development and in reproduction. Directix does not have a separate website, but it is freely available on the Microsoft website, you can also get it as an addition to any game, but be careful: if you are offered an earlier version, and you have a new Directix ”, then it would be better to skip reinstalling it. The DirectX API consists of COM-compatible objects that are responsible for the interface for displaying bitmap graphics on the screen, outputting three-dimensional primitives, data transmitted by a signal from the mouse, joystick and keyboard. And also the above files affect network communication, sound, playback of audio files and video recordings in the appropriate format, support for streaming objects, and so on. 94 4.5

There are no paid versions of this development, if they convince you otherwise, they try to deceive you, so don’t waste your time on pirated resources, they can harm you. Sometimes, when Directix is already built into the system, a situation may arise with a pop-up error that will say that some components are missing, which means that your Directix does not have enough files in the library and it’s time to think about visiting the Microsoft website » to download the version with the full set of fragments.

      Versions of the program

Old versions Various versions of the program have been released since 1995, which says a lot — not every software can boast of such longevity. The first full-fledged version was released on September 30 — 4.02.0095, running on Windows 95a, although it should not be ruled out that there was a beta testing mode before that. Then there were releases supported by Windows 95 OSR and Windows NT, they came out until 1998, before the new Windows update. Then, along with the modifications to Windows, DirectX also changed, DirectX 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 came out under Windows SE and ME. Windows 2000 came out at 1999th and Directix 7.0, 7.0a, 8.0, 8.0a went to it.
Still valid outdated version Then came a lot of releases for XP, especially for a long time Directix was an integral part of this operating system 9 different types For Vista, a dozen came out, and for Windows 7 and 8 Directix 11. New Versions As a rule, users select Directix for their own OS, this is how they ensure the most correct operation, because the fact that, for example, XP is no longer supported does not mean that everyone has abandoned it. Although it is more common for gamers to install the latest versions so that their software meets at least the minimum system requirements of the games being installed, when launching which Directix does not need to be launched manually, it starts itself at the request of the system. So far, the release of the next versions is not planned, although if new platforms appear, this is not excluded, because then the developers will have to expand the library, adapting to the new environment. Do not try to put Directix on Linux or Mac OS — this development exists solely to support Windows, and, as you may have read, the latest version is great for Xbox, however, you can see this reading reviews on the forums.

How to install and work with Direct X

By opening the file downloaded from the official Microsoft website, you will start the installation, which will take you very little time. A warning window will pop up when starting, just click «Run», it will not harm the PC in any way.

When installing, agree to the terms of use by checking the boxes where appropriate.

When done, click Finish. Attention! Immediately after installation, as is the case with any other new software, the PC needs to be restarted. Further, no other measures need to be taken, you will not even notice that you are using Directix, although if you are a developer, when testing a combination of elements of your work, you will need the support of this program and, possibly, a number of others. Other useful software can be downloaded in the same place as Directix, you just need to visit other sections of this resource, the choice in the catalog is very large, and all these programs are developed by a reliable company known all over the world — Microsoft.

DirectX download and installation video guide

Choose to download the official source — this is the best advice, and this is what this video says. Other resources may be less reliable, and you are all the more at risk, because the software is placed in the Windows folder, and if it was downloaded from unofficial sources, you cannot know what it might turn out to be, take care of your PC.

      FAQ

How to find out the installed version of DirectX

The easiest way to find out the version of DirectX is to use the two-key combination — R + Windows logo button. The second way is to run the dxdiag.exe file manually, you can find it through a search in Start or on your hard drive, where you have Windows installed, namely in the System32 folder. In the process of checking the version, the opportunity offered to you to check the digital signatures of the drivers will also not be superfluous, then follow the path “System”, “System Information”, and ultimately you will find out the current version of DirectX, which, in fact, was achieved. You can also compare Directix with your Windows and thus get the estimated version data, but this method is very inaccurate.

      DirectX update

To update the program, just reinstall it, and thus you will get the latest version, although many products are supported with earlier versions of DirectX installed. During reinstallation, a system window may pop up, agree to replace the current version, especially if your OS allows it. Earlier and therefore less demanding versions of hardware are recommended to be installed on weak computers, laptops, netbooks and laptops. Also, you should not refuse to reinstall Directix while you are installing any game. As a rule, you will be offered a newer version that most stably supports the functioning of this video game, without jamming, crashes, texture changes and other troubles that a gamer may encounter.

      How to uninstall DirectX

from your computer and uninstall programs”, and already there find DirectX, on which you need to right-click, and then click on uninstall. As you can see, this procedure does not take much time, but the question immediately arises — why remove a program that weighs very little, ensures the performance of many processes and has no disadvantages at all. If you have become a victim of software counterfeiting and the program does not just uninstall, install an additional powerful removal application or try to do it with an antivirus program, after scanning the folder containing the program. Please note that when reinstalling Windows, disks are usually formatted, and, accordingly, Directix will also be deleted during this process.

      Reviews and user comments

On the forum, a certain Mikl conducts a detailed analysis and concludes that updates do not bring anything good to users.

There are more positive comments on the same resource, the fact is that the forum presents its own version of Directix, which suits far from everyone, so Vollsh encourages everyone to download a 100% working version from the official site.

Andron encountered an error on the site, which, in fact, he described.

AMID, in turn, under one gaming article on the site, expressed a positive opinion about Directix 10, almost everything works at the highest level for it.

After reading all of this information, some of which you probably were new to and some of which you might not have known before, you should now understand how important DirectX is and why you absolutely need to install it if, of course it hasn’t been installed yet. Reviews only confirm the debugging and accuracy of the work of Directix. By the way, write if there was something useful in the article for you, was it interesting, and in general, express your positive or negative opinion about the program at the bottom of this site in the comments.

      Overview of DirectX

DirectX is a programming interface that brings together various tools to implement different tasks. The set of libraries can be conditionally divided into «subinterfaces» — components for running software audio synthesizers, graphics and sound processing, tools for collecting data from input devices, tools for supporting stream objects, and other elements. The newer the version of the libraries is installed, the more likely it is that during the playback of modern games and applications, all the functions intended by the developer will work stably in them. The package will reveal the performance of «top» video cards and sound adapters.

It is recommended to download DirectX for free for Russian and other OS versions — a set of necessary libraries will complement the drivers for the video card and other devices (downloaded from the official site) with the necessary components for the correct operation of application programs.

How to find out the installed version of DirectX

Why DirectX 12 cannot be downloaded on Windows 7 recently released games. So, the new

      DirectX .

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to install the latest version of this component on your computer. This is because is the only system that supports DirectX 12 — Windows 10 . Naturally, theoretically, older versions of the OS are also capable of «pulling» the latest developments in computer graphics.

Only Microsoft decided otherwise. After all, you need to promote the new operating system to the masses, increase sales. Accordingly, in order for end users to still pay attention to the newly released product, it is necessary to introduce certain chips (even if you have to exclude them from old designs).
It’s so common that potential buyers see no reason to pay for updates or simply be afraid of surveillance systems built into new versions of the OS. You can dispel all the myths and learn about the advantages of Windows 10 in the next chapter.

Updating DirectX to the latest version on Windows 7 (8, 8.1, 10)

Uninstalling and reinstalling DirectX on Windows 7 (XP, 8, 8.1, 10)

Some highly specialized programs or 3D games sometimes experience errors. This may be due to both the appearance of problems in the application itself, and with the installed DirectX component.

Before uninstalling or reinstalling DirectX, you must make sure that it is malfunctioning and only then take the necessary measures. Pay attention!
If the program or game previously worked correctly, and there were no changes in important system files or drivers, it is recommended to reinstall the application and reset its settings.

It is not possible to remove DirectX from Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10

If you are sure that DirectX is causing the problem, first reinstall it using the full offline version from the official Microsoft website.

In most cases, the problem will be resolved and you will be able to use any program that needs the DirectX libraries installed.

Uninstalling DirectX 9 on Windows XP using regular OS tools

Solving problems with installation and operation of DirectX

Before reading this chapter, it is recommended to read the chapter « Uninstalling and reinstalling DirectX on Windows 7 (XP, 8, 8.1, 10)» to immediately weed out cases related to faulty user software.
If the actions from the above chapter did not bring the desired result, proceed to familiarize yourself with examples of errors.

The following are typical problems, one way or another related to the operation of DirectX, which are not fixed by a simple component update .

      Error starting the application (0xc000007b)

An error window with this code can occur when running a number of applications or a single game or program.
In this case, the true «culprit» of the problem is very often incorrectly indicated, because the cause 0xc000007b can become, among other things, a computer infection with a virus.

In the window that appears, run the command without quotes: « sfc /scannow » → wait for the recovery procedure to complete → restart the computer.

      «The Direct3D 11.1 API component is not available. A Windows 7 update is required.»

If you are using the original image of Windows 7 (whether licensed or pirated), you just need to update the system and install Internet Explorer 11 from Microsoft official website to fix this issue.

You can download IE 11 from the official site by clicking on this link. Pay attention!
Internet Explorer cannot be installed on builds of Windows 7 that have the Update feature or other critical system services cut.
The only way to solve the problem with component «Direct3D 11.1 API» is to install the original image of Windows 7 with the necessary updates.

If important OS features are not cut by the author of your assembly, you need to download update «KB2731771» , which can be downloaded from our website.

Your problem will be solved and IE 11 will install normally when you try again.

After the above steps, you must restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Failures to install or run DirectX in certain applications

Problems installing DirectX (DXEerror.log, fatal or internal error)

DirectX does not start or «Failed to initialize.

      ..»

Error «Failed to initialize DirectX» mostly occurs when the application itself crashes. To fix this problem, you should update your game / program by installing all the necessary « patches » from the developer for it.

To do this, you need to visit the forum or website of the desired application and find the section that describes the solution to the problem. If the above steps do not help, use the recommendations from the chapter: «Error starting the application (0xc000007b)». This will help resolve the issue.

Why it is worth switching to Windows 10 and DirectX12

      Advantages of Windows 10 over Windows 7, 8, 8.1

DirectX 12: is it worth updating the system for this. Games and graphics capabilities of the future

DirectX 12 is the latest version of the graphics libraries from Microsoft, presented to the public at the «Annual Game Developers Conference». Developer companies (in particular, their programmers) have finally opened up a completely new tool to simplify the interaction of the computer software with the hardware.

DirectX 12 allows game creators not only to use PC components more efficiently, but also to bring to the graphics process previously unavailable hardware advantages of CPUs and video cards. Representatives of the company AMD (a popular manufacturer of graphics solutions for gamers around the world) officially noted that the new technologies will make it possible to compete with Nvidia in the leading price categories. Figure 5. Comparison of mid-range graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia.
While DirectX 12 is only gaining popularity, while DirectX 11 is used almost everywhere.

However, very soon the new version will be implemented in all outgoing projects. Luckily, you can now upgrade to Windows 10 and be fully prepared for the potential game development breakthrough that DirectX 12 is shaping up to bring. The biggest video game and component manufacturers are already creating mini-masterpieces that showcase great graphics and optimization wonders.
Microsoft Corporation together with software engineers Nvidia made it possible to develop games for the new DirectX right now by creating a special driver. Moreover, Nvidia has promised to release support for 12th version of DirectX on all released video cards compatible with version number 11 .

Therefore, the majority of end users will be able to get a completely new pleasure from video games, and developers will be able to take computer graphics to a fundamentally different level. Even graphics cards 2009received DX 12 support. More on that in the next chapter.

Nvidia has added support for DirectX 12 for GeForce 400 and GeForce 500 series video cards

The ability to use new graphics processing technologies has been added, including video cards that have long been out of sale, since there are still many devices from older series on the computer market. Thanks to this, the once gaming versions of video adapters of the GeForce GTX 570/580 level will be able to get a small bonus to the picture quality. However, one should not hope for an increase in performance. DirectX 12 for these graphics cards is needed primarily so that users can get good compatibility with the new Windows 10 OS.0009 The results of testing graphics capabilities from a popular foreign site only confirm the above (translated for esate.ru): Figure 6. FPS in Battlefield 1 on DirectX versions 12 and 11, respectively.
Still, the GT 500 series came out a long time ago and cannot boast of good performance when working with new technologies.

But modern gaming video cards are already being optimized for DirectX 12. Therefore, a complete transition to a new stage of progress is only a matter of time!

How to reinstall DirectX on Windows 10?

For the normal operation of games and a number of other applications on a computer, special frameworks are needed — these are sets of instructions and useful functions that developers use. Instead of constantly writing the same code, creators use plug-ins, without which their applications will not work. One of the most popular libraries among developers is DirectX. It is a mandatory software (software) for any PC, regardless of the bit depth x32, x64, x86. If characteristic errors appear, you should immediately update DirectX. We’ll tell how to reinstall DirectX on Windows 10 and answer other questions regarding this library.

Where is DirectX in Windows 10?

Often, when trying to enter a newly installed game, an error occurs with files like d3dx9.dll. It may seem to an inexperienced user that he needs to find the problematic DirectX 9 file, download it to a laptop and move it to its original directory. In fact, this is the wrong tactic, it is better to update DirectX on Windows 10 completely. This will eliminate most of the errors.

If you still want to know the location of the DirectX files, they are located in the Windows\System32 folder on the system logical drive and begin with d3dx.

Which DirectX is best for Windows 10?

How can I find out the installed version of a library?

If DirectX is not installed on Windows 10 with a message that the current version is already installed, but the game still writes about an outdated library, you need to determine its real version. A special tool of the system is responsible for working with the software environment.

      Reinstalling DirectX on Windows 10

The easiest way to install DirectX 11 on Windows 10 is to run the automatic installation wizard. It does a good job of detecting obsolete versions of the library without user intervention and, if necessary, adds updated DirectX.

Most likely, the procedure ended successfully and the current DirectX appeared in the system. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes it is displayed that everything ended favorably, but in fact the old corrupted files are still in the system and they interfere with normal operation. In this case, you must first completely remove the library and install it again.

      Why won’t DirectX install?

If an up-to-date version of the library is already present in Windows, the online installer, having detected it, does not undertake to install the new DirectX into the system. Another problem can be caused by compatibility issues or incorrect antivirus operation. Most of the problems can be solved by the following instruction.

      How to uninstall DirectX?

Since uninstalling DirectX 12 on Windows 10 is sometimes a necessary procedure to restore the library’s functionality, we decided to separate the procedure into a separate item. The peculiarity of the action is that the goal cannot be achieved by standard means of the system; additional applications must be used. For the program to work, you still need to disable the built-in protection.

Installing and uninstalling DirectX for Windows 10

With the development of technologies for creating animation for computer games and graphic editors, there is a need for improved rendering of objects and visual effects. DirectX software is used to solve this problem. This is a kind of bridge between the video adapter, sound card and the software part of the graphics of games and editors, which allows you to improve the quality of the images displayed on the monitor screen. Every version of Windows includes a set of DirectX files that optimize the graphics experience. DirectX version updates may be shipped with game applications. To use DirectX, you need to have some understanding of installing, updating, removing and reinstalling the program in Windows 10.

Do I need to install DirectX on Windows 10

DirectX 12 for Windows 10 is a set of files with the *.dll extension, consisting of software libraries necessary for improved display of visual effects and sound. DirectX 12 is built into Windows 10 by default. This version does not require a manual update. All files are downloaded automatically when updates are received from the official Microsoft website on the Internet.

You can determine the version of DirectX on your computer using the dxdiag command:

Even though DirectX 12 is preinstalled on Windows 10, the dxdiag dialog box may in some cases show an earlier version.

Problems can usually arise in two cases:

You can see which version the video adapter supports using the Device Manager console in the computer properties and the adapter manufacturer’s website. To do this, in the «Device Manager» console, find the line «Video adapters», open it and write down the name of your adapter. Then go to the manufacturer’s website and see the version of DirectX for which the adapter is configured in the pivot table. If version 11.2 is specified, then, accordingly, it will work with version 12, but it will only be able to use the libraries of version 11.2.

To install (update) the version of DirectX, you need to go to the official Microsoft page and go to the required version of the operating system. 1 Version 2 does not have a separate update package, and all updates are received automatically through the Update Center.

So, to check for an update for system components, you need:

Sometimes when starting the game, a warning appears about the impossibility of starting it due to the absence of any library. The library can be added from the required earlier DirectX set.

In the web installer window, check the system requirements and read the installation instructions. Then we download the executable library to the computer, run the dxsetup.exe executable file and then follow the installation instructions. H do not forget about unchecking those additional components offered during installation that you do not need. Also, do not install the Bing search engine offered as an application to libraries.

      Where DirectX

      is installed

After downloading and running the dxsetup.exe executable file, the library archive folder can be installed to any user-specified location. By default, the directory will be unpacked to C:\Windows\System32. Before downloading the archive, it is recommended to create a folder under any name in the root of the disk. Download the archive there, unpack it, install DirectX to the selected location, and then delete the created folder.

What to do if DirectX is not installed

The application may not be installed if its version does not match the version of Windows OS. It is not possible to install version 12 on Windows 7, as well as version 11 on Windows XP.

Do I need to install DirectX on Windows 10

DirectX is a mandatory program, without which most programs and games will not start and work, therefore it is installed in all versions of the operating system by default. That is, you do not need to install it yourself, only if it was not manually removed by you earlier. But it is necessary to update the library, as new versions of the program improve the indicators of how it copes with its tasks.

How to find out the version of the library

At the time of this writing, the current version of the library is DirectX 12. To find out if you need to upgrade to it, or if it is already installed on your computer, follow these steps:

      Open the Run program

We look at the version of DirectX

How to update DirectX on Windows 10

update it. You do not need to uninstall the previous version of the program, the new version will be installed over it. All files associated with the library can be found in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\DirectX folder.

Also, reinstalling the application will help if, when starting games, you encounter the fact that they do not start, giving the error «Missing file with the dll extension.» If you start installing the same version of DirectX that is installed on your PC, the installer will automatically detect which files are missing from your library and download them.

      We refuse additional programs0003

We are waiting for the download to finish

We are waiting for the installation of components

Why the installed version is not displayed in the system properties If you are sure that the library installation process was not interrupted, then the reason is that your video card does not support the version being installed. You can find out if your video card supports DirectX 12 or not in the instructions that come with it or on the official website of the manufacturer. If you find out that the video card supports the library, but the new version is still not installed, then you need to manually update the drivers for your video card.

      Problems during installation

If an error occurs during the installation of the program that prevents the process from completing, you can try the following troubleshooting methods: In order to install an older version or reinstall DirectX, you must first uninstall the version installed on your PC. This cannot be done using standard methods, since Windows does not have the ability to erase the library, so you will have to use third-party programs. But before that, you need to prepare your computer by doing the following:

      Open the section “System protection”

      Open the “System Protection” tab

      Press the “Reference”

CHOOK OPTION OPTION OPTION “TEPPORT STATE”

      9000

Press the “Apply” buttons “Apply” buttons and «OK»

      Press the button «Download»

      Press the button Start Backup

      Press the button Unistall

Do not delete it from your computer for good, you can only do this if you are going to restore it right there. Do not forget to update the library, but keep in mind that not every video card will pull the latest version of the program.

DirectX: 9.0c, 10, 11. How can I determine which version is installed? How to uninstall DirectX?

      Hello everyone.

Probably many, especially gamers, have heard of such a mysterious program as DirectX. By the way, it often comes bundled with games, and after installing the game itself, it offers to update the version of DirectX.

In this article I would like to dwell in more detail on the most common questions regarding DirectX.

      1. DirectX — what is it and why?

DirectX is a large set of features that are used when developing in the Microsoft Windows environment. Most often, these functions are used in the development of various games.

Accordingly, if the game was developed for a certain version of DirectX, then the same version (or newer) must be installed on the computer on which it will run. Usually, game developers always include the right version of DirectX with the game. Sometimes, however, there are overlays, and users have to “manually” look for the necessary versions and install them.

As a rule, a newer version of DirectX provides a better and better picture* (provided that this version is supported by the game and video card). Those. if the game was developed for version 9 of DirectX, and you update the 9th version of DirectX to the 10th version on your computer, you will not see the difference!

      2. What version of DirectX is installed on the system?

Windows already has a certain version of Directx built in by default. For example:

      — Windows XP SP2 — DirectX 9.0c;
      Windows 7 DirectX 10
Windows 8 DirectX 11 Then, in the «Run» window, enter the command «dxdiag» (without quotes).

In the window that opens, pay attention to the very bottom line. In my case, this is DirectX 11.

To find out more accurate information, you can use special utilities to determine the characteristics of the computer (how to determine the characteristics of the computer). For example, I usually use Everest or Aida 64. In the article, at the link above, you can find other utilities.

DirectX 11.0 is installed on the system.

      3. Versions of DirectX to download and update

Usually it is enough to install the latest version of DirectX in order for a game to work. Therefore, according to the idea, you need to provide only one link to the 11th DirectX. However, it also happens that the game refuses to start and requires the installation of a specific version … In this case, you need to remove DirectX from the system, and then install the version that comes with the game* (see the next chapter of this article).

Here are the most popular versions of DirectX:

      1) DirectX 9.0c — support Windows XP, Server 2003. (Link to Microsoft website: download)

      2) DirectX 10.1 — includes DirectX 9.0c components. This version is supported by OS: Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. (download).

      3) DirectX 11 — Includes DirectX 9.0c and DirectX 10.1. This version is supported by a fairly large number of operating systems: Windows 7/Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2/R2 with x32 and x64 systems. (download).

The best download web installer from the Microsoft website — http://www.microsoft. com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35. It will automatically check Windows and update DirectX to the correct version.

      4. How to uninstall DirectX (uninstaller)

To be honest, I have never come across that you need to remove something to update DirectX or a game designed for an older one would refuse to work with a newer version of DirectX. Usually everything is updated automatically, the user is only required to run the web installer (link).

According to Microsoft itself, it is impossible to completely remove DirectX from the system. To be honest, I did not try to remove it myself, but there are several utilities on the network.

The DirectX Eradicator utility is used to safely remove the DirectX kernel from Windows. The program has the following features:

This program is designed to remove the DirectX tool from your computer. DirectX Killer works on operating systems:
      — Windows 2003;
      — Windows XP;
      — Windows 2000;

      DirectX Happy Uninstall

Supported OS versions: Windows XP/Vista/Win7/Win8/Win8. 1, including x64 bit systems.

Method for replacing DirectX 10 with DirectX 9

      1) Go to the Start menu and open the Run window (Win+R buttons). Next, type regedit in the window and press Enter.
      2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectX branch, click on Version and change 10 to 8.
      3) Then install DirectX 9.0c.

      Runtime Error!

This error occurs on the computer when there are problems with applications or games. One of the most common causes of the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libray error. Runtime Error is the installation of new versions of software and games without deleting old versions. The error also occurs due to damage to Visual C++ components.

Subsequently, this error also leads to crashes and errors in the registry. The error itself can occur for many other reasons, ranging from viruses to malfunctions of the operating system. Eliminated it is not always easy and fast.

Basic troubleshooting for Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libray error. Runtime Error!

Before installing, see the system requirements. Don’t forget about the bitness of Windows. On a 32-bit system, you need to install the package (x86), and on a 64-bit system (x64).

3 . Installing, updating a game or application.

If you installed a new application over the old one, then go to the control panel and select «Add or Remove Programs» or «Programs and Features». Delete the old version of the application. Check and reinstall the required app that crashed when launching. This step will save you from the headaches associated with the integrity of exe files and DLLs.

      5. Run a full computer scan for viruses.

Very often, users, users and gamers install dubious, and most importantly free anti-virus programs on their computers and mistakenly believe that they will save the computer from viruses. In short, I have an antivirus, which means I don’t have viruses. At the moment, even the most modern antivirus cannot with a 100% guarantee save you from viruses and adware. Adware is often not considered a virus, but if an application is installed on the computer AnyWhereAccess Setup Wizard, then it will give you and your computer a lot of problems and a lot of errors.

Therefore, I advise you to check your personal computer with several antiviruses.

The optimal set would be: Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2015 or Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10. Dr.Web LiveDemo . Also using the Dr.Web CureIt!® utility. It is advisable to run programs in the check mode at boot time.

Perform an additional check with the free utilities AVZ and AdwCleaner .

      6. Installation, update of the software platform .NET Framework

.NET Framework is a software platform released by Microsoft in 2002. It is based on the Common Language Runtime, which is suitable for different programming languages.

I advise you to remove the completely old version of the drivers, because it is not known what could happen to them during use. After uninstalling, install new drivers.

      8. Use the Windows error fix utility — Microsoft easy fix.

Microsoft easy fix. is a set of programs from Microsoft for automatically repairing and troubleshooting the Windows operating system.

Fix 2: Roll Back Graphics Driver

Roll Back Driver is a built-in Windows feature that helps you uninstall the current device driver and automatically install the previous driver for that device.

Therefore, you can roll back the driver to fix the DirectX device creation failed error.

      4. In the graphics card properties panel, click the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver.

Please note that if the Roll Back Driver button is greyed out and unclickable, it means that your Windows machine does not have a previous driver installed, so you can skip this fix and go to fix 3.

      5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete.
      6. Restart your computer and open Warframe (or other programs that were giving the error) to see if the error is resolved.

Still out of luck? OK. There is one more thing to try.

Fix 3: Update your graphics card driver

A missing or outdated graphics card driver can result in Failed to create DirectX device error, so you should make sure your graphics card driver is up to date.

There are two ways to update the video card driver:

Update the driver manually — You can manually find the latest driver for your video card from the manufacturer, download the driver and install it on your computer. It takes time and computer skills.

Update Driver Automatically — If you don’t have the time or patience, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy .

Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. You don’t have to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don’t have to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don’t have to worry about installation errors.
