As part of this cycle, we have already evaluated the capabilities of AMD Vega and Intel UHD Graphics series iGPUs, as well as Radeon R5 230 and GeForce GT 710 discrete graphics cards with different types and sizes of video memory.
Today we will resume our acquaintance with the GeForce GT 730. It is available on the market in several modifications. Initially, there were variants with a 40nm GF108 processor of the Fermi generation and a 28nm GK208 of the Kepler 2.0 line. They differ from each other not only in microarchitecture, but also in the number of structural blocks: the GK208 has 2-4 times more of them. To save money, you can get a GT 730 with DDR3 memory, or pay a little more for GDDR5 chips. In both cases, get 2 GB and a 64-bit bus, but the effective speed of GDDR5 memory is 3 times faster. This will definitely affect performance, but by how much?
In the meantime, let’s introduce the main participants in this material — MSI GeForce GT 730 with 2 GB DDR3 and GIGABYTE GeForce GT 730 already with 2 GB GDDR5. Both models feature a low profile form factor. The MSI version uses a silent passive heatsink to cool the internal components. In CS: GO is already getting interesting. Even the GT 730 with DDR3 is almost as good as the UHD 630 in terms of average speed and looks much better in the statistics of rare and very rare events. Its advantage over the GT 710 exceeds 30%.
In Dota 2 it is also more comfortable to run on the GT 730. True, only the faster version with GDDR5 bypasses the built-in here. Its advantage over UHD 630 reaches 44%, and over Vega 3 — 65%. nine0003
Forza Horizon 4 clearly favors discrete graphics cards in terms of rare and very rare event statistics. Although playing it at 720p is more or less comfortable only on a GT 730 with fast memory.
When moving to 900p, the situation becomes more complicated again: Vega 3 has an average speed higher than that of the fastest GT 730 by 19%. But the rest of the statistics speak in favor of a discrete graphics card. nine0003
In Fortnite , the GT 730 with GDDR5 is the undisputed leader. The second place is fought between the slower GT 730 and the UHD 630. The first has higher statistics for rare and very rare events: the difference reaches 67%. The second is 10% better in terms of average speed.
At 900p, the GT 730’s fast-memory lead is undisturbed. It bypasses the internal opponent by more than 30%. The closest competitor in terms of average speed is Vega 3, but the gap between them is 18%. According to other statistics, it is much higher. nine0003
An interesting situation happened in GTA V . At 720p, the weaker GT 710 with GDDR5 memory outperforms the GT 730 with DDR3. The difference is in the range of 8-12%. But all opponents in this test pale in comparison to the results of the second version of the GT 730.
Switching to Full HD did not change the situation much. The integrated video core is again getting closer to the leader, but this time we are talking about Vega 3. True, a decent distance of 19-21%.
