Do you want to know how to overclock 1050 TI ? Then you have landed in the best place. Iam here to tell you the step by step procedure to do that. But first let us know about the card. Here we are taking the MSI 1050 TI for reference.

OVERVIEW

MSI GTX 1050 TI is powered by a full PASCAL GP107 GPU. The GP107 is the first GPU built with a 14nm processing speed and packs 768 CUDA cores, 32 ROPs and 478 textures units. The MSI GTX 1050 4GB is Nvidia’s latest Pascal based GPU. It has a TDP of 75 Watts and is based on a new 14nm GP107 processing core which has approximately 66% of the key resources (CUDA cores, texture units, memory bandwidth and transistor count etc.) found on the 3GB GTX 1060.

Comparing user benchmarks for the MSI 1050 TI and 3GB 1060, it is observed that the 1050 TI is falling a little short on expectations but as it is found that, the 1050 TI has only one single benchmark so the average score may probably improve after gathering more samples. How To Overclock?

The most important part of the graphic card user is: overclocking

First you should have the latest drivers of your card as well as the latest version of MSI Afterburner.

CLICK OVERCLOCKING

Wanting to get more performance out of your graphics card, but procedure of the working is not known or simply people do not want to risk it, so to get out of this: The new OC Scanner feature in 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING afterburner will help to solve this problem at the instant click of a button. It’s also absolutely free and functions great too. The best part is: it’s completely safe as well. This blog article will explain in detail how OC Scanner in 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING works and guide on the usage of it.

OVERCLOCKING: NOT AS SCARY AS IT SOUNDS

Overclocking has always been a hobby for a relatively small group of hardware enthusiasts, mostly because of the small amount of time it is taken to understand it completely. Over the course of recent years, we’ve seen the manufacturers engineering newer ways to minimize the occurrence of accidental damages in their products, and the same goes for 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING too.

These days, most Graphics Processors have built-in safety measures that restrict the changes that can be made with overclocking software like afterburner and others, to know the values, consider the safety point of view. The processors and drivers themselves also continually monitor things like temperature and owner usage so that action can be taken to ensure the safety of the product and 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING is not an exception. A great example of this is known as Thermal Throttling. If a GPU gets too hot, it will automatically reduce its effective clock speeds to reduce the workload and output in terms of produced heat until it reaches a level deemed to be considered as safe.

Steps to overclock

STEP 1: Before running the test, it should be made sure that the fan speed is set to 100% in Afterburner in 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING for maximum cooling capacity. This will increase the noise production of the fans, but it’s a price one may have to pay, wanting to squeeze extra performance out of your 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING. The Unigine Valley test will put the graphics card through its paces, showing the heights of the temperature rises and loud sounds of the fans too. Let the benchmarking software run for about 15 minutes for 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING GPU temperature to settle at its top value.

STEP 2: Setting the fan speed to 100% while benchmarking and watching the GPU temperature closely

STEP 3: Starting to go into Settings and checking the boxes that say “Unlock voltage control” and “Unlock voltage monitoring”, which will allow to increase the Core voltage of the 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING. Next, increasing the Core Clock value by 10 and clicking the Apply button on the bottom right. The 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING will now adopt the newly selected clock speed setting it as default, which should be visible on the Hardware Monitor.

Now it’s time to see if the 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING has become cool or not, after running the unagile Valley test. There is no need to panic if the system screen suddenly turns black and displays an error after that, this may happen often, when the 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING becomes unstable and crashes or overheats under stress. Relax, as the graphics card most likely hasn’t had any damage, but it may have simply reverted back to its default values. If this happens, it is advised to reboot the PC in order for the display drivers to run properly before the continuation of the other processes.

Crashes can happen for different reasons too, the most common being the improper selection of the clock speed, not being able to maintain the internal voltage or the 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING becoming unstable because of the overclock. The first cause for crashing can be solved by slightly increasing the Core Voltage. This will increase heat output of your 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING, so it is suggested to do this if one has enough margin before reaching the maximum safe temperature.

The second cause for crashing can be due to overheating or simply because of the insufficient accommodation of higher speeds of the 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING. Also, it should be kept in mind that, every card is different, thus luck is also a factor.

STEP 4: Increasing core voltage and power limit, after starting the overclocking process as described above, it’s a matter of trial and error though, until the sweet spot for 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING is found. Afterburner allows to save the settings as well after making of a profile at any point, which allows to switch between stock settings and the new high-performance setup for gaming whenever it is needed.

Final Review Of 1050 Ti

If a powerful GPU is not needed (without VR or 4K etc.) instead only a graphics card with latest features is needed, such as: up to date OpenGL extensions or Vulkan / Direct3D 12 support, with reasonable 3D performances and small impact on electricity bill, then  1050 TI OVERCLOCKING  is the best choice which one can make. Depending on the benchmark, the GTX 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING is around 20% faster than the non-TI version. MSI’s VGA cooler is one of the best VGA coolers available in the market. 1050 TI OVERCLOCKING is a good investment, and surely one won’t regret it.

The MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB operating model you are looking at should be aware of how to overclock Geforce gtx 1050 ti serves today comes factory overclocked 1342MHz base and 1455MHz boost clocks. You can also use the MSI Afterburner Utility to see how far we can drive the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. NVIDIA claims that you’ll be able to “reach speeds over 1,900MHz with ease” while overclocking the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.

Without making any other improvements, you will increase the core clock to +175 MHz and the memory clock to +750 MHz. The base clock was increased from 1342 MHz to 1517 MHz, and the boost clock was increased from 1455 MHz to 1630 MHz. After knowing how to overclock Geforce gtx 1050 ti, you can make further changes.

Get to know about overclocking an Nvidia GeForce gtx 1050 ti card

The 4GB GDDR5 memory card was locked at 8008 MHz, and that we couldn’t get over 1911MHz on the core after running some benchmarks and looking at the logs. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti’s overclocking limitations should also be known to the user.TheMSI overclocking barrier was most likely limiting cards which are usually locked.” Although lower-end cards may be limited, we disagree that the majority of NVIDIA graphics cards are closed.

You can look through the GPU-Z logs and know about how to overclock an Nvidia GeForce gtx 1050 ti card from benchmarking runs and plotted a couple of them for you to see. The only time you can reach over 1900 MHz was when you will be in the game menu or loading the maps or when the GPU load wasn’t 100 per cent.

In Deus Ex, they divided, the average clock speed was 1846 MHz, and in Battlefield 4, it was 1837 MHz, both of which are very respectable considering the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti’s suggested base clock is 1290 MHz on paper.

It is found that the clock speed in Battlefield 4 was only 99 per cent until the very end when it finally reached 100 per cent load for the first time. This made it essential to know how to overclock EVGA gtx 1050 ti. GPU-Z revealed that the card was power restricted when gaming, causing the clock speeds to fluctuate.

This made users curious about the clock speed accuracy on the stock MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC, so you need to know how to overclock Zotac 1050 ti and check it out and discover that the clock speeds were still inconsistent. The average 1724 MHz during the BF4 run above, and it eventually flatlined at 1721 MHz at the end. As a result, the 175 MHz core clock overclock and the average score clock in Battlefield 4 increased by 113 MHz from 1724 MHz to 1837 MHz.

How can you increase the game frame rate safely with overclocking Nvidia 1050 ti SSC?

  1. First and foremost, upgrade your RAM to 8GB; this will not explicitly increase your FPS, but it is now a requirement. A Requirement by almost all the popular games
  2. Update your graphics drivers.
  3. Connect the laptop to the charger and then play if you want to play at a high frame rate because the graphics and CPU are not at 100% while the computer is in battery mode. As a result of this, when you begin to plug in the charger, the laptop would believe that “the device does not require battery saving.” Depending on your computer, you can expect a 5 per cent boost in inefficiency.
  4. When playing games, try not to use too many apps at once.
  5. Since the fans inside laptops sucking air from the back, try to keep the laptop’s bottom as open as possible. As a result, try to play on a desk, as laptop cooling is critical. Thermal throttling (in layman’s terms, reducing output due to heat) will occur if the laptop gets too hot.
  6. Set your laptop’s power frequency curve to 1960 MHz on core clocks and +700 MHz on memory clocks using MSI afterburner. This should have equivalent frame rates to a 1050ti
  7. Since games are demanding more and more CPU power, you can undervolt your CPU so you can reach higher clocks for longer.
  8. Clean your laptop’s fan with compressed air to improve cooling and, as a result, long-term performance.
  9. To get higher fps, lower pointless game settings like fxaa, softer shadows, lower ambient.

However, you might overclock it and know so far about how to overclock gtx 1050 ti SSC.  However, whether or not your motherboard supports overclocking is a matter of personal preference. Look up how to overclock your graphics card on the internet. When it comes to overclocking, each graphics card is unique. To overclock my CPU, I used MSI afterburner. My motherboard, however, does not allow overclocking. But you’ll have to look it up on Google.

This will ensure that everything runs smoothly. You have a higher risk of frying your card if you try to increase the memory too much.

It is essential to note the video for any tears or anomalies in the benchmarking software. These anomalies may indicate that you have overclocked your memory. Keep in mind that you should go slowly and check the video on Heaven every 10 MHz on knowing about how to overclock MSI gtx 1050 ti.

Reduce the memory MHz until there are no more errors once you notice signs of memory failure. Before starting the GPU OC, remember what the memory is clocked at and reduce it to the normal.

Step 3: Overclocking your graphic card

You should repeat the same steps as before, except this time, you’ll adjust the core clock values in 10-MHz increments. Know about how to overclock MSI gtx 1050 ti, and don’t be concerned if anything goes wrong. That means you went a little too far. Reset the Core clock until there are no more problems, then write down the number. Reset it to its default state, and you’re good to go.

Step 4: Combine all the overclocking readings.

It would be best if you were an expert at overclocking your hardware by now. This step is the most crucial of them all. It’s a lot like what you were doing before. First, knowing how to overclock Asus gtx 1050 ti, all you need to do is set your memory and core clock to the previously determined values. Run Heaven, and if it crashes, lower the memory and GPU values by 10 MHz at a time until everything runs smoothly.

Step 5: Know about performance and perform necessary testing

This is the last and most crucial step. After the benchmark appears to be running smoothly, you can leave Heaven running for around 15 minutes to see if your machine can handle the tension.

Make sure you test your latest settings in your favourite games to ensure they run smoothly as well; if there are any issues, lower the settings. You now have the complete knowledge to overclock your GTX 1050 ti or other graphics card.

Conclusion

If the GTX 1050Ti is identical to the GTX 750 Ti, it is hardware limited to 75 watts maximum to the 750 was regulated to 60 watts maximum, ensuring that you don’t use more power than the PCIe bus can handle. So you could get objects or spaz on your screen and know about how to overclock MSI gtx 1050 ti gaming x 4GB manually. Still, aside from potential drive corruption from shutting down inappropriately when something is attempting to write to your drive, you’re very unlikely to harm your device or graphics card. Enter your motherboard’s specifications to see whether it allows overclocking. And there is a lot of software which you can use to overclock your GPU. Walkthrough — DTF Guides

Everything you need to know about «free» FPS in games.

It’s already the end of summer, and video cards are in no hurry to reduce their prices. The annual autumn wave of releases will begin very soon, and many of them will require powerful graphics hardware. Try to follow our advice so as not to be left behind in the new gaming year.

Note: This guide only applies to desktop PCs and is about so-called «safe overclocking» (without raising the voltage or changing the cooling system). However, with any manipulation of the hardware, there is always some chance of damaging it. Therefore, study our advice very carefully and follow them at your own peril and risk.

Step 1: Prepare the computer

If, after opening the side wall of the system unit, at best you want to sneeze, then rather arm yourself with a cloth. After turning off your gaming machine from the network, removing the sweater and moving the wool carpet from the floor, thoroughly wipe it inside and blow out all the dust from the filters (it is better to do this outside).

The second thing to do is to make sure you have enough power in your power supply. To do this, find the model of your graphics card on the website of any of the major stores (for example, GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon R9280X) and pay attention to the column «Recommended power supply». If it says “400 W” and exactly as much (or even less) is on board your PC, then after overclocking, the system may freeze and even turn off — higher frequencies always increase power consumption.

As for the power supply parameters, it is worth setting either balanced or high performance mode. Better balanced — it will allow the system to «rest» when the game is not running. Contrary to popular myth, it does not affect performance, but only uses resources wisely. You should not turn on, perhaps, the economy mode.

Step 2: Install the required software

The most important programs for any beginner overclocker are GPU-Z and MSI Afterburner. The first one (in the image on the left) gives out all the characteristics of your video card: from the exact model name (Name column) and core (GPU) to frequencies (Clock), memory bus width (Bus Width) and support for various technologies (Computing). The second allows you to increase the frequencies of the core (Core Clock) and memory (Memory Clock), as well as control the behavior of the cooler (Fan Speed) and play with the voltage (Core Voltage). The latter, by the way, is not recommended for safe overclocking.

Any software, of course, should be downloaded only from official sites, so as not to run into various «surprises» when installing it.

Superposition Benchmark by Unigine

Among other things, you should also install one of Unigine’s popular benchmarks: Heaven Benchmark, Valley Benchmark, or the brand new Superposition Benchmark. If your graphics card is more than five years old, then the super-modern Superposition may not start — then put any of the first two.

Benchmarks allow you not only to admire the beauty of 3D scenes that almost overtake modern games, but also to quickly “warm up” the video card after overclocking to check the system for stability.

Step 3: Testing the current performance

Start GPU-Z first and compare the values from Default Clock (standard graphics core frequency) and Boost from the top line (current graphics core clock in games). If they are different, then your video card is factory overclocked and the boost in Afterburner will be added on top. In this case, the stock of megahertz may not remain so significant — for example, the GeForce GTX 1060 STRIX OC model from Asus is already overclocked by more than 250 units of clock frequency.

Next, look at the number of megahertz in parallel graphs: GPU Clock and Default Clock, as well as in the upper and lower Memory. At the top, the current frequencies are written without taking into account factory overclocking, and at the bottom — the original ones. Paired items must match. Otherwise, your graphics card is already overclocked. Later we will definitely reset it through the MSI Afterburner program.

Now run the built-in performance test in any demanding game (such as GTA 5 or Rise of the Tomb Raider) and record the average frame rate in a notepad. After that, open one of the Unigine benchmarks mentioned above, do not change anything in the settings (they will adjust themselves to your computer) and click the Run button.

Upon completion of testing, the benchmark will return the results: total score, minimum, maximum and average FPS, maximum temperature of the graphics card, and so on. All of this information should also be recorded.

Step 4: Raise the frequencies

You will need the previously downloaded MSI Afterburner utility to work with the graphics card frequencies. Immediately after launch, it will most likely look different from the image below. Nothing is clear in the new interface, so just go to the settings, go to the «Interface» tab and select Default MSI Afterburner v3 Skin. Now much better.

For safe overclocking, we need only three sliders: Core Clock, Memory Clock and Power Limit. The first adds the number of megahertz to the current core frequency in games (in GPU-Z it was the Boost item), the second overclocks the video memory (Memory), and the third increases the power consumption limit of the graphics card. By default, MSI Afterburner is configured in such a way that you can turn the Power Limit to the maximum and this will only add stability (but you need a power supply with a margin). Note that not all graphics cards of recent years benefit from overclocking video memory. Therefore, sometimes it is worth overclocking only the core.

First, just in case, press the Reset button (suddenly the video card is already overclocked). And now you can add a few megahertz to the Core Clock column, but not more than 100 units. After that, press the Apply button and run the benchmark again. In extreme cases, the test utility will simply turn off during operation, which means you need to reduce a dozen megahertz and try again. If the benchmark has reached the results, then do not save anything yet and gradually move towards increasing the frequency until the benchmark starts to turn off. As soon as this happens, return to the previous Core Clock value.

When the benchmark is already stable, this does not mean that everything will be fine in games. Therefore, now you need at least half an hour to play something demanding on the video card: the same GTA 5, the latest Tomb Raider or Battlefield 1.

If there have been no freezes and image distortions for a long time, then the core overclocking is successful. If not, drop another ten megahertz. Then run the benchmark again and play around. Repeat until you find a reliable elevated frequency. At the same time, make sure that the maximum temperature of the video card is not higher than 80 degrees (you can see it in the benchmark results or in the MSI Afterburner sensors).

Now let’s move on to memory overclocking. To begin with, reset the frequencies with the Reset button so that the increased core frequency does not interfere and you can immediately understand that the failures started due to the video memory. After that, repeat the procedures above: add about 300 megahertz to the current frequency and then slightly decrease or move forward by 20-40 units, interspersed with tests, until you find a stable value. Next, set the core to the frequency that you found during its overclocking. Most likely, problems will begin: slow down 10 megahertz from the video memory, if it doesn’t help, then continue to slow down until stability is restored.

After all this, you need to test the fully overclocked video card in games again.

Step 5: Measure performance gain

Overclocking added about 500 points to the author of these lines

When stable core and memory frequencies are found, it remains only to find out how much the performance has increased. Everything is simple here: for the last time we run the benchmark, and then the built-in performance test from GTA 5 or other games mentioned above. Now we compare the results after overclocking with those recorded in step 3.

If the increase is at least 10%, then this is already very good (the average maximum on air cooling is about 15%, occasionally 20%). In this case, you need to open MSI Afterburner, press the Save button, then the flashing number 1 and lock the lock on the left. Now overclocking can be quickly activated through this figure.

If, after overclocking, only 1-2 frames are added in games, then it is probably better not to risk it and press the Reset button.

How to overclock a video card? | Price catalog E-Catalogue

Most modern video cards are slightly overclocked right at the factory, and some models, such as Inno3D and Zotac products, are quite strongly overclocked. But even more hidden performance can be «squeezed» out of the graphics accelerator with your own hands. Overclocking will help increase the frame rate in games by 10 to 20 percent, but perhaps this is just enough to reach a comfortable 30 or 60 FPS, and thus allow you to wait with an expensive upgrade. It’s definitely worth a try!

Preparation for acceleration

In theory, overclocking a video card resembles the same procedure with a central processor: you need to find the optimal balance between the frequency of processor cores (graphic core), RAM (video memory) and supply voltage (power consumption limit). In practice, unlike overclocking the processor, which is performed through the BIOS menu of the motherboard, overclocking of the video card is carried out through Windows applications.

Almost all major video card vendors have their own proprietary overclocking utilities: ASUS GPU Tweak II, Palit ThunderMaster, Sapphire TriXX, etc. The most popular due to their versatility (they support overclocking of their own and other models) are the paid EVGA Precision (sold on Steam) and the free MSI Afterburner. It is on the example of the second that we will give advice on overclocking.

In addition to the overclocking utility, you will need a “warm-up” application that loads the video card to the eyeballs. It can be MSI Kombustor, AIDA64, FurMark, Unigine Valley or any modern demanding game, preferably with a built-in benchmark. The advantage of the gaming benchmark is that it repeats the same scene over and over again, which allows you to accurately measure the frame rate before and after overclocking. In games without a benchmark, it is almost impossible to repeat the same actions twice.

General principles

When you launch MSI Afterburner for the first time, you must uncheck the box next to «Startup» so that the program does not start automatically after the operating system boots. This will allow, in case of unsuccessful overclocking and PC freezes, simply reboot the system and return the video card settings to standard values.

Beginning overclockers are advised to overclock only in safe mode — without increasing the voltage of the graphics chip. By default, changing the voltage in Afterburner is disabled. If you still decide to experiment with voltage, in the «Settings — General» menu, activate the «Unlock voltage control» option and restart Afterburner.

The management of the maximum power supply (“Power Limit” slider) and the maximum allowable temperature (“Temp. Limit”) is blocked in Afterburner for most modern video cards. You can use it either in proprietary configuration applications from the manufacturer of the graphics chip (this will be discussed below), or by flashing to an unofficial BIOS version.

The main sliders of interest to us in Afterburner are “Core Clock” (graphic core frequency) and “Memory Clock” (video memory frequency). We will raise them. You can find out the approximate overclocking potential of your video card model from text reviews on specialized hardware sites or video reviews on YouTube.

It is also worth considering that overclocking is always a lottery: the same video card model, depending on the success of a particular instance (ASIC current leakage rate), can overclock better or worse. Reviewers often receive test samples directly from manufacturers. For tests, of course, specimens of the best quality are selected, while everything goes to retail. Accordingly, it is better to set the overclocking frequency of the core and memory a little lower than the one declared by the browser.

In Afterburner, the real real memory frequency is indicated (for example, for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti it is 1750 MHz), while in the characteristics of the video card and in the reviews — the effective frequency is four times higher (7000 MHz). Accordingly, if you want to get a memory overclock of 400 MHz, as in the review, then you need to add only 100 MHz to Afterburner.

After setting the overclocking frequency, click the «Apply» button. If you make a mistake, click «Reset». Now we need to test the efficiency and, most importantly, the stability of overclocking. This can be done using the aforementioned «warm-up» utilities or games. It is recommended not to exceed 85°C (shown in the graphs at the bottom of the Afterburner window). In case of exceeding the norm, either increase the speed of the fans of the video card (the “Fan Speed” slider), or lower the overclocking frequency a little so that the PC remains quiet further.

If you overdo it with the frequency of overclocking, Windows may give an error «The video driver stopped responding and has been restored» or even show a «blue screen» (BSOD). In this case, simply restart the PC with the button on the case. By trial and error, having chosen the optimal combination of increased frequency and stable operation under load, click the «Save» and «Startup» buttons so that Afterburner starts up with the OS immediately with active overclocking in the future.

Features AMD Radeon

On average, Radeon graphics cards are more power-hungry and hotter than GeForces from the same year. Therefore, they are characterized by a strict limitation of the maximum power. Sometimes, it comes to the ridiculous: some Radeon RX 480 models, such as HIS, operate at a frequency lower than the declared one by default. And all because the manufacturer has set a too tight power limit.

You can remove the restriction using the Crimson application (the old name for Catalyst), which is part of the AMD graphics driver package. The Radeon 400, 500 and Vega models are configured by the WattMan function, while the Radeon 7000, 200 and 300 series are configured by the OverDrive function. As a result, the maximum allowable overclocking frequency and the heating level of the video card increase. Therefore, the temperature should be monitored even more carefully.

Features NVIDIA GeForce

The GeForce 600, 700, 900 and 1000-series video cards, in addition to the nominal core frequency, also have the Boost automatic overclocking frequency. Simply put, if the temperature and power consumption are within normal limits, the video card overclocks itself.

The latest NVIDIA 1000-series has especially strong auto-overclocking — at 300-500 MHz. This partly eliminates the benefits of manual overclocking: we increase the nominal value, but the real frequency still cannot exceed the Boost mark. Overclocking video cards without an additional power connector is especially unpromising: GT 1030, GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti.

The GeForce 600, 700 and 900-series models have weaker auto-overclocking, and the temperature and power consumption limits are less strict. Therefore, it makes sense to overclock these video cards, unlike the 1000-series.

Farewell

In order to avoid possible overheating and subsequent breakdown of the video card during experiments with overclocking, it is necessary to increase ventilation inside the PC. To do this, you can either increase the speed of the case fans, or temporarily remove the side wall of the case. Once a balance between increased frequency and tolerable heat is found, the wall can be returned to its place. Also, if your video card is more than three years old (that is, the warranty period has already expired), it is recommended to replace the thermal paste. And if more than five years, then also thermal pads (for example, on the Arctic Thermal Pad).

Packaging and Contents

For the Gaming series of video cards, MSI has often adopted the color red for packaging. In the case of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G, a black box awaits the buyer. On the front side, not only the image of the video card itself is shown, but also key technical features are indicated.

The back of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G package is dedicated to the description of the graphics card cooling system and the backlight element. The system requirements for this video card model are also indicated here. In particular, the power supply will require a power of 300 W with one 6-pin PCIe power connector.

In addition to the graphics adapter itself, the box also contains a user manual, an assembly guide, a customer thank you card, and a CD with drivers and proprietary software.

Design and Features

The GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G graphics card, although it is a budget-level graphics accelerator, is not at all cramped in size. Dimensions are 39 x 245 x 127 mm in thickness, length and height, respectively. The video card turned out to be so long due to the use of the TwinFrozr 7 cooling system with two 90mm fans. Due to the matte gray casing with chopped shapes, the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G looks brutal and aggressive.

«GeForce GTX» is printed on the top of the graphics card case to identify the adapter in the installed system.

On the other hand, the plastic shroud of the video card almost does not cover the cooling radiator, allowing you to see the use of a heat pipe in the CO design.

Focusing on the budget segment does not deprive the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G of the right to stand out in the system. To do this, a backlight module with the name of the cooling system and the name of the manufacturer is implemented on the upper end.

The grille for the connector panel is also inspired by MSI Gaming. Here the user will find a pair of DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.0b. With their help, you can display the image on three monitors at the same time.

PCB

Removing the cooling system sheds light on how much shorter the physical PCB of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G could be. But it turned out the way the manufacturer intended it. And this was done primarily with an eye on the TwinFrozr 7 cooling system with two fans.

The GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G PCB has a lot of wasted space, both front and back. But on the reverse side of the PCB, part of the surface is occupied by the MSI corporate logo in the form of a white dragon.

The GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G is based on the TU117-300A1 GPU manufactured in week 50, 2018. In this model of the graphics accelerator, the GPU received a serious overclocking up to 1860 MHz (against 1665 MHz of the reference solution). The graphics processor, made according to the 12 nm process technology, has 896 CUDA cores, 56 texture units and 32 rasterization units. The memory on the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G graphics card is represented by four GB GDDR5 modules manufactured by Micron, labeled 8KB77 D9VVR. The operating frequency of the memory is 8000 MHz, the bus between the GPU has a width of 128 bits.

The power subsystem of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G graphics card is implemented in a 3+1 phase scheme. GPU power management is entrusted to the uP9509S controller, which is responsible for three phases.

Another power phase is dedicated to GDDR5 memory chips. The voltage on it is regulated by the GS7256 microcircuit, soldered in the immediate vicinity of this power harness.

The GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G does not require a large power supply. However, this graphics adapter is equipped with a 6-pin auxiliary power connector, which is required for the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G to work.

Cooling system

One of the main features of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G is its proprietary TwinFrozr 7 cooling system. On this video card model, this CO has a somewhat simplified design.

Thin heatsink consists of multiple aluminum fins and one 6mm nickel-plated copper heatpipe.

The heatpipe in the cooling design of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G contacts the GPU via direct contact. Heat dissipation is also provided using thermal pads and from GDDR5 memory chips.

Two Torx 3.0 fans attached to the plastic shroud of the video card are used to blow the heatsink.

These signature turntables feature a combination of traditional and dispersion blades. According to the manufacturer: more thoughtful aerodynamics of the cooling system radiator and accelerated airflow due to the increased bending angle of the fan blades allow you to achieve better temperature indicators.

These fans are manufactured by PowerLogic. The GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G uses 90mm turntables marked PLD09210S12HH.

Backlighting

The module on the top of the graphics card is the only thing the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G can boast of in terms of lighting. Adjusting the backlight and changing colors is not provided, but for a budget accelerator it is not so critical.

To test the performance of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G graphics adapter, we used a bench based on AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2920X 12-core processor and MSI X39 motherboard9 Gaming Pro Carbon AC. 32 GB of memory were installed in the system, operating in 4-channel mode at a frequency of 3333 MHz.

The system in the form of an open test bench, together with the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G video card, looked like this.

Cooling efficiency and overclocking

GPU-Z information explains why the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G graphics accelerator needed an additional 6-pin PCIe power connector. The manufacturer has set the standard power consumption limit for this video card at 85 watts. The user can programmatically increase this limit up to 100 watts.

TwinFrozr 7 cooling system on GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G supports passive mode. In the absence of load on the accelerator, the fans stop, which ensures completely silent operation of the video card. Under these conditions, the GPU heats up to 47 degrees Celsius, being cooled only by a cooling radiator.

Our experiments with a full load of the graphics card showed that the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G GPU can be heated up to 67 degrees Celsius. To keep the GPU at this temperature, the graphics card runs the fans at 48% or 1534 rpm. At the same time, the Boost frequency of the GPU is confidently kept at 1905 MHz, which is even slightly higher than the values declared by the manufacturer.

We were able to overclock the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G by +160 MHz on the GPU and +1500 MHz on the GDDR5 memory. After overclocking, the GPU temperatures did not change during the load, and only the CO fans slightly accelerated their work to 49% of the potential or 1562 rpm.

We tested the stability after overclocking the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G in the 3D Mark TimeSpy Extreme stress test, which uses 20 runs of this benchmark.

We also measured the amount of noise that our test system with the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G could generate at a distance of 15 cm from the measuring device. The tested video card GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G can be classified as a quiet graphics card.

Gaming performance

We evaluated the performance of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G in 3D Mark and SuperPosition packages at stock and overclocked graphics settings. In numerical terms, the increase was noticeable. But let’s see what happens in real games.

MSI GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G MSI GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G (OC)

To evaluate the real picture of the performance of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G, we took eight popular games with built-in benchmarks. The average number of frames per second that the video card could produce at a resolution of 2560 * 1080 pixels and maximum settings for 4 GB of memory changed.

And in real games, overclocking the video card gave a slight increase in performance, which will not be superfluous for a budget adapter of the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G level.

Conclusion

The MSI GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G is not just a budget graphics card with a GTX 1650 chip designed for the demanding consumer, but also a technically refined product with interesting advantages. The strength of the considered model of the video card is, of course, its TwinFrozr 7 cooling system with branded Torx 3.0 fans. This equipment allowed the GTX 1650 Gaming X 4G graphics card to get not only high factory overclocking of the GPU, but also a stylish appearance. By choosing this graphics adapter, the user will receive not only a charged version of the GTX 1650, but also a low noise level, and therefore the comfort of using their PC.

Budget products of the Pascal family are still relevant in the video card market, especially when it comes to compact versions for miniature PCs. And if the choice of models for mini-ITX cases is quite wide, but among the smallest low-profile cards, there is nothing more powerful than the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. In this review, we will consider such a video card made by ASUS. Let’s see what are the capabilities of the low-profile model GTX1050TI-O4G-LP-BRK, what is its overclocking and how well it draws modern games.

ASUS GTX1050 TI- O4 G- LP- BRK 90 The package includes only the essentials: a software disk, instructions and an additional plug.

Despite its budgetary status, the video card looks very nice, the design somehow inherits the older ASUS models. The total length of the video card is 18 cm, and the height is half that of a standard device.

The cooler occupies two expansion slots and uses two small fans, but does not exceed the height of the board.

The reverse side of the video card is covered with a backplate. This gives solidity, only the plate is made of plastic, so there is no practical use for it.

This model has three display ports: DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI. The default is a long plug, but a shorter version is included for compact, low-profile cases.

The cooling design is as simple as possible — an ordinary aluminum radiator, on which a case with a pair of 50 mm fans is put on top.

The GP107 graphics chip is quite cold, so this cooling should be sufficient.

Due to the small size of the printed circuit board, there is a dense mounting of elements and a minimum of free space. At the same time, a three-phase GPU power system is implemented, which is quite good for a miniature video card.

The GP107-400-A1 processor has 768 CUDA stream cores and 48 texture units. Four gigabytes of memory are typed in Micron chips (8EA47 D9SXD).

The name ASUS GTX1050TI-O4G-LP-BRK hints at factory overclocking. Indeed, the core frequency has been increased from 1290/1392 MHz to 1304/1418 MHz (Base/Boost). The memory operates at an effective data rate of 7008 MHz.

Boost frequencies are highly application dependent but often drop below 1700 MHz. And in fact, the video card demonstrates frequencies at the level of the simplest cheap versions, factory overclocking does not provide any real advantage. In the Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition benchmark, frequencies ranged from 1670-1720 MHz, in Strange Brigade they were closer to 1730-1740 MHz.

On the open bench, the core warmed up to a modest 64 °C with fans up to 2400 rpm. Noise is moderate.

Video card overclocking is below average. The core was set to 1414 MHz at the base frequency with a maximum Boost up to 1911 MHz. The memory worked flawlessly at 8658 MHz.

The core clocks mostly stayed below 1800 MHz, in heavy games like Final Fantasy XV there were drawdowns up to 1734 MHz. The reason for this frequency spread is the fixed power limit.

Let’s compare the performance of ASUS with the lower-end video cards of the old generation (GeForce GTX 960 and Radeon R9 270X) and the powerful model of an even older family — the GeForce GTX 780 Ti.

Good afternoon, reader, Computia site. Today we will consider the overclocking of the video card. Instructions for use with MSI Afterburner. A detailed review of this program will be required later. Let’s get down to the tests and a step-by-step guide to action.

Introduction. Choosing a program

Today, overclocking a graphics accelerator of a video card is a task within the power of everyone and a safe way in comparison, for example, overclocking a processor. The very process of overclocking a video card does not deprive the video adapter of warranty service, an incomparable plus will be operation at higher frequencies, as a result, performance in games and tasks will increase by an average of 10%. GPU tuning does not require technical knowledge. Today, overclocking a video card is a common task, you don’t have to shamanize with BIOS settings and you don’t need to look for additional tools. This will require the help of several auxiliary utilities.

We need to download two utilities — MSI Afterburner — for overclocking the video card and a small GPU-Z utility. It is also desirable to have the game installed on the computer to measure performance, any modern game will do. For example: The Division 2 or Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Benchmarks for evaluating performance are recommended to download Furmark or 3DMARK. Both allow you to check not only the performance gain, but also whether the video card is overheating. Download programs and proceed to their study.

We start overclocking the video card in Afterburner

GPU-Z is a technical utility. With its help, we need to check the technical characteristics of the video card. The most interesting values for us are the frequency of the graphics chip, it is designated as the GPU (Core Clock) and the frequency of the video memory (Memory Clock). It is with these two parameters that we will conduct experiments.

To start overclocking the video card, we need to run the application that we downloaded earlier — MSI Afterburner , here we are interested in the frequency of the GPU and video card memory. Here you should pay attention to voltage and temperature, if the temperature threshold exceeds 75-80 degrees, you should abandon this idea, you need to conduct several stress tests for problems with the video card. As a result, overheating of the adapter can lead to unpleasant consequences.

GPU-Z, its task is to show us the technical data of the video card, here we are interested in the frequency of the GPU graphics chip (Core Clock) and the memory frequency (Memory Clock) — we will experiment with them. We look at column Default Clock , it shows us the default frequency, the line above shows the overclocked GPU Clock . Nearby are the indicators Memory lock — processor memory, the principle is the same, from the bottom we see the default values, and the top line shows us the frequency during overclocking. It often happens that when buying a video card in stores, overclocking (English overclocking) video cards overclocked at the manufacturer’s factory with already increased values for the memory frequency come across. Here it is worth paying attention to whether the value will differ, in general, you can try to overclock the card even more using our Afterburner program.

MSI Afterburner has long been hailed as one of the best overclocking software for graphics cards — is the «gold standard».

Let’s get started. Stages of overclocking the video card

First of all, after starting Afterburner, you need to increase the power of the video card. The designation in the program as Power Limit — increasing the voltage is necessary in order for the video card to be able to work at higher frequencies, since more voltage is required when the frequency is increased. Move the slider in the direction of increase, it is possible to the maximum values.

Let’s move on to overclocking on core and memory frequencies. Here it is worth combining the values on the Core Clock and Memory Clock of your video adapter separately. It should be borne in mind that each indicator has its own limit on the technical ability to overclock. We fix all indicators and run them for stability after each manipulation. Thus, we can determine at what point the failure occurred when increasing the frequency on the core or memory. For example, we increased the frequency by 100 MHz, and during overclocking it will be obvious to us what caused problems with our card.

It is recommended to add the value gradually in steps of 100-50 MHz to the frequency of GPU and memory Memory. From what indicator to start overclocking does not really matter. Video cards without factory overclocking will in theory overclock better. Therefore, it is possible to increase values above 150-250 MHz at the start of overclocking. We fix the set frequencies by pressing the button — ( Apply) , after which we check that the overestimated frequencies did not affect the performance of the computer and video adapter in any way. Typical signs of a malfunction are the computer turned off, the computer freezes, the screen flickers, changes color or does not respond to our movements, and the like. If everything is in order and none of the listed problems are observed, proceed to the next tests using the graphics card stress testing program.

Tests. Overclocking a video card using Fur Mark

Where do we start? We download the program. We start the overclocking test of the video card, for this we use the program Fur Mark , in the «window» mode we leave the GPU-Z utility open.

First of all, when starting the program, we should check how our video card passes the test. We carefully monitor the temperature of the video card and it is desirable to bring it to a temperature of 80 degrees. As a result of the tests, we fix stable operation for 15-20 minutes in the testing mode. If during testing we do not observe visible problems, you can still increase the GPU Clock values. Our task is to determine the upper frequency limit for the GPU core and memory, at which the video card works without failures.

When we work in the Fur Mark program, it should be borne in mind that stress tests should first be carried out separately by increasing the frequency of the Core Clock and Memory Clock. Do not increase both parameters at the same time. When overclocking the video card, artifacts may appear in games or the computer may shut down involuntarily. How to test video card malfunctions — see the link.

The final test is to launch a modern game. We check whether there will be failures within a few hours. As a result of testing, if the game does not crash for several hours, you can fix the overclocking of the video card and save the settings in Afterburner. It is possible to activate overclocking with a «hot key».

An important point if artifacts are observed during overclocking or the game just crashes / turns off. It is worth paying attention to this item — PerfCap Reason . It will tell us why the test failed. Maybe temperature or voltage, maybe power. Sometimes it affects everything at once. As for AMD video cards, the situation is completely different with them. Unlike cards from Nvidea, the PerfCap Reason option will not be available. You need to monitor the temperature and power consumption yourself.

Summary

The tips in this article are more basic and for beginner overclockers. Remember that you do any manipulations with the overclocking of the video card at your own peril and risk. Do not make thoughtless decisions and carefully analyze what you are doing.

Overclocking GTX 1050 ti for mining in Rave OS and Hive OS is different from overclocking 1050 ti in Windows. Here we do not set the actual value of the frequencies of the video memory and the graphics processor, but enter the value of adding to the base frequency. Those. in the + Core Clock Mhz field, we indicate how much to increase the frequency of the GPU. And in the Memory Clock, Mhz field, we indicate how much to increase the memory frequency divided by 2. That is. by specifying 1000 Mhz, we thereby increase the memory frequency by 500 Mhz.1050 ti in Hive OS
