1020MHz

The graphics processing unit (GPU) has a higher clock speed.

2.GPU turbo

1392MHz

1085MHz

When the GPU is running below its limitations, it can boost to a higher clock speed in order to give increased performance.

3. pixel rate

41.3 GPixel/s

16.3 GPixel/s

The number of pixels that can be rendered to the screen every second.

4.floating-point performance

1.98 TFLOPS

1.31 TFLOPS

Floating-point performance is a measurement of the raw processing power of the GPU.

5.texture rate

61.9 GTexels/s

40.8 GTexels/s

The number of textured pixels that can be rendered to the screen every second.

6.GPU memory speed

1752MHz

1350MHz

The memory clock speed is one aspect that determines the memory bandwidth.

7.shading units

Shading units (or stream processors) are small processors within the graphics card that are responsible for processing different aspects of the image.

8.texture mapping units (TMUs)

TMUs take textures and map them to the geometry of a 3D scene. More TMUs will typically mean that texture information is processed faster.

9.render output units (ROPs)

The ROPs are responsible for some of the final steps of the rendering process, writing the final pixel data to memory and carrying out other tasks such as anti-aliasing to improve the look of graphics.

Memory

1.effective memory speed

7008MHz

5400MHz

The effective memory clock speed is calculated from the size and data rate of the memory. Higher clock speeds can give increased performance in games and other apps.

2.maximum memory bandwidth

112.1GB/s

86.4GB/s

This is the maximum rate that data can be read from or stored into memory.

3.VRAM

VRAM (video RAM) is the dedicated memory of a graphics card. More VRAM generally allows you to run games at higher settings, especially for things like texture resolution.

4.memory bus width

128bit

128bit

A wider bus width means that it can carry more data per cycle. It is an important factor of memory performance, and therefore the general performance of the graphics card.

5.version of GDDR memory

Newer versions of GDDR memory offer improvements such as higher transfer rates that give increased performance.

6.Supports ECC memory

✖MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

✖Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Error-correcting code memory can detect and correct data corruption. It is used when is it essential to avoid corruption, such as scientific computing or when running a server.

Features

1.DirectX version

DirectX is used in games, with newer versions supporting better graphics.

2.OpenGL version

OpenGL is used in games, with newer versions supporting better graphics.

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

    vs

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

    Introduction

the GTX 650 saw a real jump in performance when changing generations — the GTX 750 almost doubled the GTX 650 in terms of gaming performance. In today’s material, of course, nothing of the kind should be expected, since we will be comparing architecturally very similar cards — the GTX 750 Ti and the GTX 750 — the only significant difference between them is the disabling of one SMM multiprocessor in the latter, shown in the figure below in gray .

You can even theoretically estimate in advance the maximum achievable degree of superiority of the GTX 750 Ti over the GTX 750 — one additional SMM multiprocessor (in addition to the four already available in the GTX 750) should provide the GTX 750 Ti with a lead of up to 25%. Naturally, such an increase can be obtained only in cases where the performance depends on the computing capabilities of the video accelerator, and not on any other factors — the CPU count rate, the bandwidth of the main or video memory, and so on. Minimum (maximum) quality settings mean either a set of corresponding minimum (maximum) settings built into the game, or a set of settings in which all basic settings are set to minimum (maximum). The only exception in the maximum settings is for the «heavy» anti-aliasing modes SSAA and MSAA, which are not used.

    • With SSAA, everything is extremely simple — it is excluded for the reason that in the absolute majority of cases it is implemented by rendering at a higher resolution than the set one, which deprives the latter of its meaning, but I want to get performance numbers in specific resolutions. For the same reasons, both in the maximum and minimum quality settings, the rendering resolution is always set to 100%.
    • MSAA is excluded because in modern games that use the popular technique of deferred lighting and shading, developers need to implement the MSAA algorithm themselves, and the computational cost of MSAA is higher (often significantly) than using the traditional approach to rendering. As a result, MSAA is no longer a universal anti-aliasing method, since it is by no means implemented in every modern game, but I want something specifically universal so that there are no significant differences between the maximum settings in different games.

In addition, it will be extremely convenient to have the same set of settings used when testing both graphic and central processors, and in the latter case, the use of «heavy» anti-aliasing modes SSAA and MSAA should definitely be avoided. And in general, the trend in the industry is obvious — the classic versions of SSAA and MSAA are used less and less, while inexpensive temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) and post-processing anti-aliasing (PPAA) methods dominate. Of course, modern variants of multisampling are gradually gaining popularity, for example, multisampling based on NVIDIA DLSS deep learning, but this is a completely different and not really written story yet. Therefore, even at maximum settings, preference is given to relatively inexpensive and widely used methods of temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) and post-processing anti-aliasing (PPAA), such as MLAA, FXAA and others. Of course, it will be possible somehow to do a separate optional study of the impact of MSAA and SSAA on performance, but these anti-aliasing modes will not appear in the main methodology.

Medium settings are settings that are «halfway» from the minimum to the maximum — either some built-in set of average quality settings, or a set of settings in which all the main settings are set to some average between the minimum and maximum values. True, there is an obvious ambiguity here in the case when the number of built-in presets or the number of possible values for most settings turns out to be even, say, equal to 4. That is, there are, for example, either 4 built-in presets, or most of the settings have 4 options for values - conditionally minimum, medium, high and maximum. In such a situation, we will consider both options as average settings, since choosing one of them or any combination of them can introduce an imbalance in the results. In the case when the number of built-in sets of settings or the number of possible values for most settings is odd, say, 3 — conditionally minimum, average and maximum — everything, of course, is simple and unambiguous.

There will still be several resolutions in video card tests for obvious reasons. For now, we will limit ourselves to HD and FHD, since both lower and higher resolutions are hardly interesting in the practical use of the tested cards. The intermediate option (1600×900) is excluded in order to save time. More productive cards will also be tested in QHD (2560×1440), but I don’t promise 4K (3840×2160) yet, because I’m not sure that I will even get to cards where it would make sense, and a monitor with such a resolution is still needed buy.

In professional software, the GTX 750 Ti is faster than the GTX 750 by 0% (NX 8.0 CAD benchmark from Siemens PLM, snx-03) to almost 20% (ImageVis3D volumetric imaging benchmark, medical-02), and in On average, the GTX 750 Ti outperforms the GTX 750 by only 10%.
