Which graphics cards are better?
GeForce RTX 2060 Super VS GeForce GTX 1070 Ti in conjunction with a Core i5-10600KF processor
20 x 1080, 2560 x 1440 and 3440 x 1440.
Let’s see who will emerge victorious from this confrontation.
Test configuration, test tools and methodology
Test results: performance comparison
recommendations
Crysis Remastered
1% low and average FPS
Looking ahead, I note an important pattern: in most of the games tested, the GeForce RTX 2060 Super graphics card was faster than its predecessor, the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti. In this material, two aspects will be considered:
- How effective was the veteran’s resistance to the «novice».
- What performance did the test subjects manage to show at resolutions of 1920 x 1080, 2560 x 1440 and 3440 x 1440.
In Crysis Remastered, the overclocked GeForce GTX 1070 Ti was only slightly ahead of the stock GeForce RTX 2060 Super. At the same time, both accelerators showed good results only in the «popular» resolution of 1920 x 1080.
Far Cry Primal
1% low and average FPS
In the prehistoric action game Far Cry Primal, the veteran managed to give a decent fight to his replacement. Depending on the resolution and mode of operation, the GeForce RTX 2060 Super model outperformed the old man by only 5% — 7%. At the same time, both models provided comfortable performance up to a resolution of 3440 x 1440.
Horizon Zero Dawn
1% low and average FPS
In the fantasy adventure Horizon Zero Dawn, the GeForce RTX 2060 Super was significantly faster than its predecessor. The latter, even after overclocking, could only show equal results with the leader operating in the nominal mode. This project submitted to the protagonists only in 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Iron Harvest
1% low and average FPS
In the Iron Harvest alternate reality strategy, parity was fixed between the GeForce RTX 2060 Super and the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti. At the same time, the accelerators showed performance sufficient for a tolerable game of strategy up to a resolution of 3440 x 1440.
Mafia Remastered
1% low and average FPS
In the re-release of the legendary Mafia Remastered, the overclocked veteran managed to slightly outperform the «stock» newcomer. At the same time, both GPUs showed good results in all resolutions.
Project Cars 3
1% low and average FPS
In Project Cars 3, there was a situation similar to the balance of power in the previous game. With the only difference that the heroes of the review obeyed permissions 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440. The same cannot be said about 3440 x 1440.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint
1% low and average FPS
In the action movie Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the GeForce RTX 2060 Super graphics card confidently outperformed the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti accelerator. At the same time, in normal mode, the «newbie» was 6% — 7% faster than the overclocked veteran. Also a big plus for the GeForce RTX 2060 Super accelerator was that it provided comfortable performance at resolutions of 1920 x 1080, 2560 x 1440 and 3440 x 1440.
Total War Saga: Troy
1% low and average FPS
The Total War Saga: Troy strategy showed a typical picture: the overclocked veteran GeForce GTX 1070 Ti was slightly ahead of its successor GeForce RTX 2060 Super. At the same time, both models confidently demonstrated high results even at a resolution of 3440 x 1440.
Geometric mean results of video cards in eight games
1% low and average FPS
The graph of the geometric average performance of video cards in eight games shows that the GeForce RTX 2060 Super graphics accelerator was faster than its predecessor, the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti. Depending on the resolution and operating mode, the gap between the leader and the outsider was 8% — 13%.
Now let’s consider the confrontation between video cards in individual games.
- The GeForce RTX 2060 Super was faster than the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti in Crysis Remastered, Far Cry Primal, Horizon Zero Dawn, Mafia Remastered, Project Cars 3, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Total War Saga: Troy.
- GeForce RTX 2060 Super was on par with the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti in Iron Harvest.
The
The GeForce RTX 2060 Super outperformed its predecessor, the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, in seven out of eight games tested and tied in one test.
Protagonists delivered comfortable performance at 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440 resolutions in most games tested. The resolution of 3440 x 1440 was conquered by the GeForce RTX 2060 Super video card in the Far Cry Primal, Iron Harvest, Mafia Remastered, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Total War Saga: Troy projects.
