GTX 470 SLI is impressive, but we kick it up a notch higher by overclocking these two bad boys.

Can it take top honors?

Introduction

GTX 470 SLI performance was very strong. What our Total Performance Rating graphs showed us was that compared to a stock HD 5970 the setup is on a whole a nice chunk faster. The score it got, though, wasn’t enough to take out top honors thanks to Sapphire and its HD 5970 TOXIC. Not only was the model able to outperform the SLI setup in stock form, but it also managed a bigger lead when it was overclocked.

The GTX 470 has a secret weapon, though. Unlike the GTX 480, the GTX 470 loves to be overclocked. There’s really some massive performance on tap with the overclock we achieved on the Galaxy GTX 470 OC GC of 803MHz on the core, taking the lead over the much more expensive GTX 480.

Doing the math, the GTX 470 SLI setup when overclocked should be able to beat out the HD 5970 TOXIC in both forms. For starters, the GTX 480 is faster than the HD 5870 and what we’re essentially doing today is offering almost SLI GTX 480s since we’re clocking the cards up. Since the GTX 470 SLI setup was able to beat the stock HD 5970 by a nice little margin, yet fell behind the HD 5970 TOXIC only slightly, there’s no reason it shouldn’t take out top spot today.

If it does, though, at what cost? — Let’s quickly see what we did with overclocking before we get into the actual results.

The Setup

We today decided to use the Xtreme Tuner HD software again. We were impressed with it when we overclocked the Galaxy GTX 470 by itself and since we found out it supported SLI overclocking, we thought we were onto a real winner.

Due to the fact we’re running SLI, we didn’t want to be as aggressive with the overclock as we did before. In saying that, though, we set both fans to 100% to make sure the clocks we got ran as stable as possible.

What we ended up with was a 775MHz core clock, 1550MHz Shader clock and a 3820MHz QDR memory clock. While it’s not quite the 803MHz / 3932MHz QDR clock we offered in our stand alone overclocking article on the Galaxy card, it’s not that far off. Considering we’re starting at a core speed of just over 600MHz, this really is a massive overclock for two cards. Before we go onward, I’ll mention that the setup was 100% stable at these speeds.

Test System Setup and 3DMark Vantage

We would like to thank the following companies for supplying and supporting us with our test system hardware and equipment: Intel, ASRock, Kingston, Western Digital, Noctua and Thermaltake.

The line-up we’re looking at today is going to be the same as the one we looked at recently when we looked at the SLI setup not overclocked. That means we’ve got the GTX 470 and GTX 480 in single form along with the HD 5970 and HD 5970 TOXIC. We’ve also of course got the GTX 470 in SLI at the default speeds.

Let’s get started!

Resident Evil 5 revolves around Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar as they investigate a terrorist threat in Kijuju, a fictional town in Africa.

Again across the board we see some nice gains. The GTX 470 SLI already had the win at all resolutions; this overclocked one just cements it.

The Gods have disappeared and the old sun has died, letting a vile twilight engulf the world of Nyn. In exchange for all treasures the mortals possessed, the evil giants agreed to forge a new sun and hurl it into the sky.

But the deal was betrayed, the treasure stolen and now the mortals flee the wrath of the giants. Under the light of a new sun the mortals stumble into a world changed and twisted by an age of twilight. The long journey home has become a conquest of survival.

Note: Supporting DirectX 11 we have seperated the graphs for NVIDIA and ATI cards. While the numbers between the two brands can be compared you have to make note that ATI based HD 5000 series cards are running DirectX 11.

Seems the GTX 470 SLI OC setup is hitting a bit of a wall at 150 FPS. You can see it performs strong at 2560 x 1600; here it’s equal first.

Product Homepage: http://www.hawxgame.com/

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X is an arcade-style flight simulator video game developed by Ubisoft Romania and published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and iPhone OS.

The fundamental gameplay mechanics are similar to those of other console-based flight series. Players take on enemies with over 50 aircraft available. Each mission is at real world locations in environments created with commercial satellite data. A cockpit, first person, and third person view are selectable. The third person view gives the player an external view of both their plane and the target.

Set above the skies of a near-future world, increasingly dependent on private military companies with elite mercenaries who have a relaxed view on the law. As these non-governmental organizations gain power, global conflict erupts with one powerful PMC attacking the United States.

Big numbers across the board and some huge performance gains; nothing is touching the setup here which is awesome to see.

Darkest of Days takes the player through time into historic battles in an effort to save key individuals from certain death. The battles range from Custer’s Last Stand at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876 to fighting in Pompeii as ash and fire rain down from an erupting Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. Other locations include the battles of Antietam and Tannenberg, and a German World War II P.O.W. camp. There are different missions in every time period and the game takes about 4 hours to complete.

The game features over twenty weapons, both from the original time period as well as those brought back from the future. In addition, there are artillery weapons from different time periods to assist in battle.

Note: With the PhysX set to Medium or High Darkest of Days take advantage of the NVIDIA PhysX abilities. For that reason we will test ATI cards at the Low preset, NVIDIA based cards though will be tested at Low and High.

DOD isn’t the biggest fan of overclocking, but it’s clear the game doesn’t have an issue here with some massive numbers being seen.

Averages across the board are up; minimums are also, except 2560 x 1600 which seems slightly lower. Still, a very good number, just a little weird.

Batman: Arkham Asylum exposes players to a unique, dark and atmospheric adventure that takes them to the depths of Arkham Asylum — Gotham’s psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. Gamers will move in the shadows, instigate fear amongst their enemies and confront The Joker and Gotham City’s most notorious villains who have taken over the asylum.

Using a wide range of Batman’s gadgets and abilities, players will become the invisible predator and attempt to foil The Joker’s demented scheme.
Batman: Arkham Asylum features an original story penned exclusively for the game by famous Batman author and five-time Emmy award winner Paul Dini, whose credits include Lost season one and Batman: The Animated Series.

Note: With support for PhysX NVIDIA based cards will be tested with the technology on and off, ATI cards will be tested with the technology off due to it not being supported on their cards.

In the non PhysX tests Batman AA performance went backwards at all resolutions. With PhysX on, though, performance improvements were great. This is a bit of a weird one.

The game’s story takes place during World War II and centers around a cargo pilot named William Augustus Grey (voiced by Nolan North) who is teleported to another world while flying through the Bermuda Triangle. In this world, known as the ‘Void’, Will encounters an alien race as well as other humans, which are known as the Watchers and the Survivors respectively.

Will reluctantly joins the Survivors who are engaged in a feud with the alien race to satisfy his desire to return to Earth. While aiding the Survivors, Will discovers that the Void is a middle ground that connects both the Watchers homeworld and Earth. It also becomes apparent that the Watchers are supplying the Axis powers with various supplies for reasons unknown. With the help of Nikola Tesla, Will utilizes retrofited Watcher technology to combat the Watchers and eventually find a way to escape the Void.

Like Batman AA, non PhysX testing performance was a little all over the place. PhysX testing on the other hand saw a good boost in performance.

For the first time in the industry, the company’s patent-pending GPU acceleration makes its way into Wi-Fi password recovery, reducing the time required to recover Wi-Fi passwords up to a hundred times.

Supporting up to four NVIDIA boards such as GeForce 8, 9, and 200, as well as ATI video cards such as RADEON HD 4000 Series and up, Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor allows building servers with supercomputer performance at a fraction of the price.

While SLI isn’t made use of, the massive overclock is.

Badaboom

Version and / or Patch Used: Release 1.2.1.7
Developer Homepage: http://www.nvidia.com//
Product Homepage: http://www.badaboomit.com/

Badaboom eliminates the frustration of video conversion by providing users with speed, efficiency, quality, and a sleek interface. In a practice that used to take several hours, Badaboom converts feature-length movies in a matter of minutes while keeping the videos looking crisp and clear.

By harnessing the power of NVIDIA CUDA-enabled GPUs, Badaboom offloads the CPU to allow users to continue browsing the Internet or checking email without decreased system performance, making transcoding high-quality video fast, easy, and painless.

Note: With the requirement for a CUDA enabled graphics card to run Badaboom, this means that we can only use NVIDIA based cards for this test.

Nothing that will really surprise you here.

Temperature and Sound Tests

Temperature Tests

With the TES 1326 Infrared Thermometer literally in hand we found ourselves getting real-world temperatures from the products we test at load (3D clock speeds).

There are two places we pull temperature from — the back of the card directly behind the core and if the card is dual slot and has an exhaust point we also pull a temperate from there, as seen in the picture.

The top card ran very warm; a lot warmer than the second card in this situation.

Sound Tests

Pulling out the TES 1350A Sound Level Meter we find ourselves quickly yelling into the top of it to see how loud we can be.

After five minutes of that we get a bit more serious and place the device two CM away from the fan on the card to find the maximum noise level of the card when idle (2D mode) and in load (3D mode).

Both fans at 100% and the noise level wasn’t the worst we’ve seen to date, which was nice. It’s still very loud, though.

Power Consumption Tests

Using our new PROVA Power Analyzer WM-01 or «Power Thingy» as it has become quickly known as to our readers, we are now able to find out what kind of power is being used by our test system and the associated graphics cards installed. Keep in mind; it tests the complete system (minus LCD monitor, which is plugged directly into AC wall socket).

There are a few important notes to remember though; while our maximum power is taken in 3DMark06 at the same exact point, we have seen in particular tests the power being drawn as much as 10% more. We test at the exact same stage every time; therefore tests should be very consistent and accurate.

The other thing to remember is that our test system is bare minimum — only a 7,200RPM SATA-II single hard drive is used without CD ROM or many cooling fans.

So while the system might draw 400 watts in our test system, placing it into your own PC with a number of other items, the draw is going to be higher.

Power draw is high! 777 Watt on our minimalist setup here. You want to make sure that you’ve got a good quality power supply for this configuration. We would be recommending something in the 1000 Watt area.

Total Performance Rating (TPR)

Total Performance Rating

The TPR graph is a combination of all our benchmarks in which NVIDIA and ATI are on an even playing field. This includes benchmarks where PhysX can be forced off like Dark Void and Batman: Arkham Asylum, but not Darkest of Days.

The TPR number is a combination of:

3DMark Vantage, Heaven Benchmark V2, CINEBENCH R11. 5, Resident Evil 5, BattleForge, Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X., Far Cry 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum (PhysX Off), Dark Void (PhysX Off) and our three High Quality tests which include Far Cry 2, Resident Evil 5 and Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.

All of the benchmark results achieved are then combined into a single number. As this graph will grow over time and cards won’t be re-tested, next to each model you’ll find the driver version that was used when the card was benchmarked.

Even with some weird results in Dark Void and Batman AA, the GTX 470 SLI Setup when overclocked just performed extremely fast. Our TPR graph really helps put this into perspective.

Total Value Rating (TVR)

Total Value Rating

The TVR graph is the TPR score divided by the price of the video card. The price of the video card is based on the list price of the model on Newegg.com. In the event the card isn’t listed, it will be based on the U.S. $ MSRP given to us by the manufacturer.

In the event we can’t source a price from either, the product will not receive a TVR rating. As with our TPR graph, the amount of video cards on the list will grow over time and the price of the model won’t change from what it was when first reviewed. For this reason the U.S. $ price that the card is based off will be included next to the name of the model.

In the event you want to find the TVR rating yourself based on the current price, all you have to do is simply divide the TPR number by the list price.

TVR numbers are rounded to the nearest whole number; 100.3 will be 100; 100.8 will be 101 and 100.5 will be rounded down to 100.

The same price and a hell of a lot more performance does good things for the overall value rating. Not the best value, but quite an improvement.

Final Thoughts

I really quite like the GTX 470. Out of the box performance is a little ordinary, but a mean overclock on these cards with upgraded coolers and performance is very strong. At the moment the Galaxy card overclocked at 800MHz+ core is the best value card we’ve tested to date. We’re sure that the Palit would be sitting up there as well if we did a separate OC article on that, because the model is even cheaper than the Galaxy offering.

Not everything was rosy, though. The heat is an issue, even at 100% fan speed. I mentioned to some people that generally speaking, my office runs hotter than the rest of the house because of the computer gear. It would run a little hotter again when I had the test beds running, but the problem I had with the GTX 470s SLI when overclocked was that the temperature went up another level. Considering it was only 16c here in Perth when I was doing this article, the heat in the room was worrying.

During our testing we had the top card (Palit) running over 100c with the fan set to 100%. It’s not like it was even hot outside. As mentioned, it was only 16c that night and the worst we saw the card was 103c. Now, the last thing I want you to think is that the Palit card is not a good one. In the stand alone review we saw it performed much better than the reference cooler. We could’ve put the Galaxy card in this spot and we would’ve seen the same numbers, so please don’t think that Palits cooling solution is inadequate.

People can cry till they’re black and blue that the heat and noise doesn’t make a difference, but I’m honestly telling you it does. It’s bearable with one card; a lot of people will have a problem with it, but enthusiasts will handle it. SLI on the other hand is just a different ball park. It’s something you really need to take note of before you go down this path. These numbers weren’t seen during Furmark or anything super intensive like that; it was just games like Dark Void and Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.

Performance is awesome, though. I really can’t wait to see what happens when we take GTX 480s for a spin in SLI.

ASUS GeForce GTX 470 ENGTX470 Video Card Review

    By Nathan Kirsch •

    The ASUS Voltage Tweak GTX470

Earlier this month NVIDIA released the GeForce GTX 470 and GeForce GTX 480 graphics cards. We had a review on the GeForce GTX 480 on launch day, but sadly NVIDIA didn’t send out a GeForce GTX 470 for us to evaluate at that time. Well, our friends over at ASUS didn’t want us to be left out so they sent over an ASUS ENGTX470 graphics card to review for our readers. Now that we were finally able to get our hands on one we can bring you some benchmark numbers!

The GeForce GTX 480 is the flagship desktop gaming graphics card right now from NVIDIA, but at $499 they are too expensive for most consumers and even if you can afford one they are very hard to locate. The GeForce GTX 470 retails for $349 and offers less performance than the flagship GeForce GTX 480 graphics card since the GeForce GTX 470 features just 448 CUDA cores, 56
texture units, and 40 ROP units. The GeForce GTX 480 features 480 CUDA cores, 60 texture units and 48 ROP units. NVIDIA claims that a GTX 470 strikes a
perfect balance between price, performance, and power. Let’s take a look at the ASUS ENGTX470 to see how things really compare.

The ASUS GeForce GTX 470 graphics card that we have on the test bench
today is a dual-slot single GPU video card that measures in at 9.5″ in
length. The GeForce GTX 470 is
one inch shorter than the GeForce GTX 480, so it should be able to fit
in more cases and be easier to route wires around for those looking for a clean system build. The ASUS GeForce GTX 470 graphics card (ENGTX470) features reference clock speeds of 607MHz core clock and 837MHz on the 1280MB of GDDR5 memory that runs on a 320-bit memory interface.

The front of the ENGTX470 is pretty plain, but features a very nice looking carbon
fiber sticker that looks sharp in our opinion. How can you go wrong with a black plastic fan housing with the black carbon fiber sticker?

Flipping the ASUS GeForce GTX 470 video card over we don’t find too many interesting
things, but we can make out two small holes. These allow for a small amount
of extra airflow into the video cards cooling fan, which helps improve
cooling performance. We have seen this for a couple years now on several
NVIDIA graphics cards and it appears to work well. The GeForce GTX 470 graphics cards does support SLI and has a
pair of SLI bridges located along the top edge of the graphics card. The
NVIDIA GTX 400 series support two, three, and quad SLI configurations.

The ASUS GeForce GTX 470 GDDR5 graphics card has a pair of
dual-link DVI-I outputs along with a mini-HDMI output header. The GeForce GTX 400 series of graphics cards are the first that we have seen with this connector. ASUS does not including an adapter with their bundle, but they do include a DVI-to-HDMI adapter. Both the Dual-link DVI and HDMI outputs can be
used to send high-definition video to an HDTV via single cable (including audio if running HDMI). A regular sized HDMI header was not used since it
couldn’t fit next to the pair of DVI outputs.

The ASUS GeForce GTX 470 video card requires a 550 Watt or greater
power supply to power the GeForce GTX 470 as it has a max board power
(TDP) of 215 Watts. NVIDIA also suggests that your power supply have a
minimum of 38Amps on the +12V rail. It also requires that the power
supply has two 6-pin PCI Express power connectors for proper connection. It should be noted that
the NVIDIA minimum system power requirement based is based on a PC
configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2GHz CPU. For comparison sake the GeForce GTX 480 video card needs a
minimum 600W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current
rating of 42A) in case you are wondering what the big brother for
    this card requires.

Since the GeForce GTX 400 series run rather hot it was noted to us that
SLI requires optimal cooling and airflow. Poor ventilation will result
    in high fan speeds.
For SLI use, NVIDIA strongly recommends that you test in a well
    ventilated case (rather
than an open bench). If three PCI-E slots are available, the cards
    should be installed in
the inner most and outer most slots. This ensures optimal cooling for
the GPUs. NVIDIA said that 4-way SLI (Quad SLI) support for GTX480 will
be supported in specific motherboards (same as GTX 285). AS you can see from the photo above, the heat sink used on the GTX470 is quite large and features five copper heat pipes.

Looking at the ASUS ENGTX470 from the top you can better make out the five cooper heat pipes that help keep the 448 CUDA cores cool during use.

In short, I finished my purchase, I’m going to take the second one, I’ll do it from my computer in SLI. and then in a year, it will be possible to buy all new hardware except for the cooler))

    Good price/performance video card.

Pulls all modern toys to the maximum, since the monitor from a person who collected a small resolution (1280 * 1024). The case in which I put it was quite roomy and well ventilated, during the tests I never brought the video card cooler to maximum speed.

    Didn’t like the build quality.

Maybe I just came across such a copy ?

In the store where I took it I examined the appearance, but due to dim lighting I didn’t notice oxide in some places of soldering on the back side of the video card, which indicates the poor quality of the flux flush at the production stage of the video card. When installed in the motherboard slot, the card entered, but it turned out to be screwed to the case with only one screw. The second hole went a couple of millimeters to the side and the screw no longer fit.

All games fly at maximum speed (Call of Duty Black Ops), tests pass with a bang, directx11 anti-aliasing set to maximum and in 3DMark Vantage got almost 11000, LOST PLANET 2 Benchmark average fps 42 class B (both tests).

With automatic settings, the cooler card is almost inaudible (2000 rpm).

Among the advantages, the first is performance!

All modern games run at maximum with acceptable FPS.

    Good overclocking potential.

3D Vision — You can play regular games in 3D, even on a regular monitor, just need multi-colored glasses.

PhysX support, the quality of physics with this engine enabled in Metro 2033 is simply amazing.

CUDA support, and now some video converters already know how to use CUDA together with the CPU, which can significantly increase the encoding speed. And over time, the number of programs supporting PhysX and CUDA will only increase.

Quiet, in idle mode it is completely inaudible, and the temperature does not exceed 45 degrees.

Perhaps overpriced, but this card is worth its money, works honestly, even in full.

High temperature at maximum load is about 82 degrees, but when the cooler is turned on at maximum speed, it drops to 65, at the same maximum load

    Advantages:
fast card, the price has fallen and the demand is growing. More video memory compared to 460gtx (but if you are not going to put
2 cards via Sli, then one 470 is better than 460) overheating of the core and detachment of the GPU crystal), was restored with a reball and sold for 2500r, since this has not been around for a long time)

    Comment:
In order to use this card, it is desirable to have the appropriate hardware, because I have a 2 nuclear percent that does not allow it to reveal its potential (I will install the Q9500 quad), well, for overclock water cooling, otherwise this product will burn like a match. Also, I was given a 3-year warranty for this model (which is not unimportant, because my 9800GX2 died for 3 years and was replaced with this one at no extra charge)

    ander.z2010, 22.10.2014

    Advantages:
Very fast card. 3DMark Ventag 18080 parrots. Crisis in max below 38 frames did not fall. Price in Mitino 11000r

    m

    Disadvantages:
It heats up very strongly up to 93 s. I put 2 additional screw teletars on the sys block, it dropped to 89. In calm mode, 51 s. Noisy a lot, put new firewood became noticeably quieter.

    Comment:
Works in MULTI SLI with 8800 GT very well, 680 watt system unit nets both.

    Nowichkow Alexander, 10/16/2013

    Advantages:
High performance (well, for example, in GTA4

FPS did not fall below 72, despite the fact that on 8800gtx it was about 30). Almost the lowest price of all versions of the GTX470, it runs well, does not bake with noise, and most importantly, it supports all the latest technologies.

    Disadvantages:
The minimum power supply for it is 550 watts.

    Comment:
A good video card for good money, I advise everyone, I chose between it and the HD5870, tested both and still settled on the GTX470.

    Sokolovsky Andrey, 02/28/2011

    Advantages:
Fast enough video card, works well with high resolutions.

    Disadvantages:
Despite the well-ventilated case, it was covered after 3 months of operation, the temperature did not rise above 82 degrees

    Comment:
It looks like they released a somewhat raw video card on the market, it’s hard to say the problem is nVidia or MSI … MSI following the default released a card with improved cooling a month later. But what about users who have their first video cards? There are not so many services that serve MSI even in Moscow

    Klorodov Yura, 02/05/2011

    Values:
    Passenger capacity = 3348*320/8000 = 133. 92gbit/C

    Pixel filterate = 607*40 = 24280mpixels/C

    Textory phyllite = 607*56 = 33992MTEXELES/C

    and this is without acceleration!

    Disadvantages:
    1. The valve makes a lot of noise, but only after 70%. If you set it to 100%, you get the feeling that a little more and the computer will begin to levitate above the floor =))

    2. It gets very hot, you need to put a cooler at least 120x120mm 1600rpm above the vidyukha.

    3. The maximum GPU temperature is 105C.

    Comment:
    1. In idle (2D) 50% cooler speed temperature 40C-50C (GPU load from 0-5%).
    2. 3D cooler speed 70% 60C-67C (GPU load 30-60%).
    3. 3D cooler speed 70% 75C-85C (GPU load 90-99%).
I installed the Scythe Slip Stream (SY1225SL12H) 1600rpm 120x120mm cooler in front of the video camera, of course there is a hole in the case behind the valve for taking in colder air and a mesh for filtering dust).
Result (rotation speed of the vidyuhi valve remains the same):
    1) 38-45; 2)55C-60C; 3)70C-76C
    OS-Win7 64bit. GA-X38-DS4(25C-30C). Processor 4 cores Intel Q6600 socket 775 (25C-35C on the base valve).

    Pupkin Dimasik, 01/05/2011

    Advantages:
    High performance

Low operating temperatures (yes, that’s right)

    Acceptable price

    Disadvantages:
    Didn’t notice

    Comment:
Excellent vidyuha (before it was 8800Gts 512mb) — all games run at max!!! when the room is about 32 — the current heat) in 3D about 70 (Crysis warhead all max 16qc anti-aliasing) when not so long ago my 8800 in idle gave out 55-60 at 100% cooler speed !!! I advise everyone !!! Who wants to take with a reserve for the future (far) — I advise Gtx480 … Thank you all

    Very satisfied.
All games just fly at maximum graphics settings at a resolution of 1280×1024.
Tried playing Crisis, Arcania — Gothic IV, GTA IV, Left 4 Dead 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, MAFIA II, Mirror’s edge, Risen, Colin McRae Rally Dirt 2, WRC Rally 2010 and many other games…

    Golubev Ivan, 06.10.2010

    Advantages:
a very powerful card suits absolutely everything! The temperature does not rise above 65 degrees

    Disadvantages:
    they simply do not exist!

    Comment:
take it, you won’t regret it. It’s mostly suitable for gamers!

    08/15/2010

    Advantages:
    1. Good price for high performance.

    2. All games run without brakes. (Crisis, Metro 2033, Mafia 2, GTA 5). I played everything on the maximum of my monitor 1680 * 1050.

    Disadvantages:
    1. Gets hot. If you leave the video card fan in automatic mode (45% in msi afterburner), then for example in Crisis it heats up to 82 degrees.

    2. At fan speeds above 55%, a buzz is already heard. 100% — as if you turned on the vacuum cleaner.

    3. No game discs included.

    Comment:
An excellent video card for the money. The price / performance ratio is currently the best.

Out of order after 4 years of not the most intensive use. More precisely, the video card works without a serious load. But as soon as you turn on a movie or a game, the temperature jumps to 115 degrees, the cooler starts to work at full capacity. Turning off the movie or game does not help. After a while, the computer freezes. Cleaned from dust all the time. So the reason is in the video card itself.

    Shkrob Pavel, 08/02/2010

    Advantages:
    Nvidia, 1280GB, Size, Convenient overclocking

    Disadvantages:
speed vidyuhi, and this is extra noise.

    Comment:
Personally, I was chasing up to the parameters 762/1600/2000, but this is not the limit, Windows score is 7.9. The good news is that the hot air completely leaves the case and does not overheat the system.

Conclusion: Vidyuha for those who have money for a good body and a powerful processor, without it it is a dummy.

    Pak Lesha, 07/22/2010

    Advantages:
The card is really powerful, if you take into account — I have a stone E6700 Conroe, 2Gb of memory with a 975 chipset and a Cheftek 500W power supply. The very first crisis set everything to Max smoothing Max. There are no brakes at a resolution of 1680 * 1050. So, if you have a branded 500W power supply, feel free to purchase it.

    Shortcomings:
    One shortcoming!

Without the utility, the cooler does not spin up more than 72%. For me, it would be better to make noise, but the cooler accelerated to 100%. At a temperature of 40 in the room, it overheats to 82 degrees in the Crysis game, since the cooler does not spin up to 100, but above the blue screen. Therefore, I run the afterbuner utility to overclock the cooler to 100%.

    Comment:
The picture on my AS-IPS monitor is great.

    06/14/2010

    Advantages:
Excellent performance, DX11 and all the bells and whistles of Nvidia

    Disadvantages:
The price of NVidia itself is very high, + in our region — just rudeness of speculators.

    Comment:
Excellent, powerful vidyuha: all games run on W7 at «very high», with max. smoothing (22″ monitor) — crisis, metro 2033…
It’s buzzing… and like all powerful vidyuhi (before it was 9800GTX+) t did not rise above 80 degrees.

Game characters and objects have become more realistic, as if they stepped off the movie screen. Performance in games and picture quality have improved significantly. The architectural developments of the GTX 480 and 470 made it possible to achieve truly realistic geometry. PhysX effects are now processed much faster, and developers can use GPU computing power in games even more efficiently.

    Specifications

    34.0

The three columns on the left show the speed of geometric tessellation in three tests that only measure tessellation performance. As the complexity of the geometry increases, the performance of the GF100 increases. The hair and water demos include shader and compute operations in addition to geometry operations. The right column shows the performance of tessellation state blocks (a set of draw calls from a frame) in a DirectX 11 application.0003

Superflow 8XAA and texturing (smoothing speed — HAWX)

In the previous generation video cards in the 8xMSAA mode depended on the specific game; for example, Tom Clancy’s HAWX in 8xMSAA mode did not work quickly. In the GF100, the speed of 8xAA has been greatly improved. In 4xAA mode, GF100 is 1.6 times faster than GT200. At 8xAA, the GF100 is 2.3 times faster and only 9% slower than the GF100 in 4xAA mode. The GF100 also supports the new 32x Coverage Sampling (CSAA) mode, which provides the highest image quality and more realistic geometry in games using overlap values.

Texturing speed compared to GT200 (application state blocks)

The texture blocks support jitter sampling via a DirectX 11 Gather4 instruction that fetches four texels from a 64×64 pixel grid in one action. GF100 provides hardware support for DirectX 11 Gather4, significantly speeding up the processing of shadow maps, shading models and post-processing algorithms. Using the new sampling model allows you to effectively implement anti-aliased soft shadows and custom texture filters in games.
