As Radeon R9 270X e GeForce GTX 760 disputaram o mercado das placas de vídeo intermediárias em 2013, ano em que foram lançadas. Com especificações parecidas, os componentes tendem a apresentar performance praticamente idêntica em games lançados naquele período. Atualmente, cinco anos depois, as duas placas de AMD e Nvidia ainda são opções relevantes para quem busca a montagem de um PC gamer mais em conta.

Apesar disso, será que existe uma opção melhor entre as duas? Outra possível dúvida entre usuários é se ainda faz sentido investir em produtos tão antigos. Veja, a seguir, o comparativo de ficha a técnica entre a Radeon R9 270X e a GeForce GTX 760.

Especificações

Como as placas são de marcas diferentes, há algumas diferenças nas especificações que não podem ser comparadas diretamente. Um exemplo claro disso é a contagem de núcleos dos processadores gráficos de ambas. Na GTX 760, há 1.152 núcleos CUDA, na Radeon são 1.280 núcleos stream.

Em termos de velocidade, o processador da R9 270X pode ser um pouco mais rápido, alcançando clocks de 1.000 a 1.050 MHz, contra os 823 a 1.033 MHz da 760 da Nvidia. Em relação às memórias, a GeForce pode ser encontrada com 2 ou 4 GB de RAM GDDR5, mesma configuração da R9 270x.

O que muda em termos de memória é o barramento. Todas as R9 270X usam 256 bits para ligar processador gráfico à RAM. A GTX 760 tem versões com 192 e 256 bits. Quanto maior o barramento, maior a via de comunicação entre os dois componentes e mais rápida deverá ser a placa.

Lançadas em 2013, Radeon R9 270X e GTX 760 disputaram o mercado intermediário de forma bem direta dada a performance bastante equilibrada de ambas. No geral, benchmarks observados no acervo do UserBenchmark, site que agrega testes realizados por usuários, determinam que a GeForce é apenas 3% superior.

Como a margem é bem pequena, não é raro encontrar situações em que a Radeon ou empata ou supera a 760. Na época do lançamento, a imprensa internacional verificou, por exemplo, que a 270x era mais rápida em jogos como F1 2012 e Batman Arkham City. Hoje, cinco anos depois, é possível dizer que as duas placas são bem equivalentes e entregam desempenho do mesmo nível.

Tradicionalmente, a AMD tende a lançar processadores e placas de vídeo menos eficientes. Isso se confirma na comparação entre 270X e 760 da Nvidia: a TDP da placa da AMD é de 180 watts, 10 a mais que os 170 watts da GeForce GTX 760.

Embora a diferença não seja tão grande, o usuário deve verificar que a Radeon pode esquentar mais, além de exigir controle de temperatura mais agressivo – característica que pode significar ventoinha acionada com mais intensidade ao longo do uso. Outro impacto dessa diferença deve se manifestar na conta elétrica: a Radeon tende a gastar mais energia para funcionar.

Há uma enorme vantagem para a placa da AMD nesse ponto: ela ainda é encontrada nova no mercado nacional. Do outro lado, a GTX 760 sumiu das prateleiras e encontrá-la nova por aí é uma questão de muito mais pesquisa e sorte. Usada, a 760 pode ser encontrada a preços que partem dos R$ 400.

Embora disponível, é importante observar o preço da R9 270X: a placa da AMD pode sair por preços que começam nos R$ 850 e atravessam a barreira dos R$ 1 mil. Como se trata de um hardware antigo, é difícil encontrar justificativa para valores tão salgados.

Custo-benefício

Se você tem que escolher entre as duas, talvez a R9 270X seja a melhor opção dada a facilidade de encontrá-la nova nas lojas do Brasil. No entanto, antes de comprar, é interessante questionar o custo-benefício: a R9 270X é uma placa lançada em agosto de 2013 e é vendida a preços muito altos no país.

Pelos R$ 850 dos anúncios mais baixos encontrados na Internet no momento, você pode investir em uma GTX 1050 ou Radeon RX 560. Ambas placas de entrada são mais atuais – e com performance similar, se não superior à R9 270X.

Review – ASUS GTX 760 vs ASUS R9 270x

¡Hola amigos de ModdingMX! En esta ocasión les traemos el review de 2 poderosas tarjetas de vídeo que tenemos actualmente en el mercado, se trata de la ASUS GTX 760 y la ASUS R9 270X, ambas ofrecen rendimiento muy bueno colocándose en la gama media, por lo cual es una buena opción si queremos aumentar el rendimiento de nuestra computadora pero no tenemos el presupuesto para una GPU de gama alta.

En el caso de ambas tarjetas vemos un aumento en su rendimiento debido a que cuentan con overclock de fabrica, una característica que ASUS quiso incorporar en sus GPU haciéndolas más rápidas que las tarjetas de referencia.

Empaque y Accesorios

Para analizar el empaque no hace falta hacer distinción entre Nvidia y AMD debido a que ambas cuentan con su color característico (Verde GTX 760, Roja R9 270X), encontramos la tecnología DicrectCU II en el centro del empaque así como las características principales en la parte baja justo a un costado del modelo de cada GPU.

En la parte trasera del empaque encontramos información detallada de las tecnologías incorporadas por ASUS en cada GPU, tales como son:

  • DirectCU II
  • Super Alloy Power
  • GPU Tweak

También podemos encontrar las conexiones del panel trasero de cada GPU por lo cual podemos conocer que dispositivos son compatibles.

En la parte superior encontramos información similar en ambas tarjetas de vídeo, localizándose el logotipo de ASUS por la parte izquierda y en el resto información con las características, destacando la tecnología DirectCU II.

En su contraparte encontramos en diferentes idiomas los requisitos del sistema que ASUS recomienda para conectar alguna de las GPU destacando la fuente de poder con 500W como mínimo.

En ambos laterales encontramos información sobre DirectCU II, así como el modelo especifico en cada GPU, destacando también el color característico de cada fabricante del chip de vídeo.

Una ves que retiramos la cubierta de cartón con la descripción de las tarjetas de vídeo, encontramos un empaque de cartón rígido, sobresaliendo en esta ocasión el de la ASUS R9 270X debido a su diseño negro con el logotipo de ASUS en dorado, mientras que en la ASUS GTX 760 solamente se observa una caja en color blanco sin ningún estampado.

Ambas tarjetas se encuentran protegidas por una bolsa antiestática así como una cubierta de hule espuma en los alrededores del empaque evitando cualquier movimiento de las tarjetas durante su traslado.

Como igual en ambas tarjetas encontramos un manual para su configuración, un disco con los drivers y utilidades, además se incorpora un adaptador de corriente, para el caso de la ASUS GTX 760 encontramos un convertidor a 8 pines que es la única alimentación extra que necesitaremos, mientras que en la ASUS R9 270X encontramos un adaptador de corriente de molex a PCI-e 6 pines ya que para la alimentación de la tarjetas requerimos 2 conectores de 6 pines. Finalmente en la R9 270X se incluye también un puente CrossFire.

Concluyendo esta primer sección observamos ambas tarjetas de vídeo, las dos cuentan con un diseño muy similar dominado por el color negro y con vivos en rojo, algo muy característico e identificado con la serie ROG de ASUS. La principal diferencia radica en el tamaño debido a que la tarjeta ASUS R9 270X es 5 centímetros más larga que la GTX 760.

A detalle – ASUS GTX 760

Es momento de analizar la tarjeta de vídeo ASUS GTX 760. Encontramos un diseño ya característico en color negro y con lineas en rojo, se observa además las protecciones en las conexiones de la tarjeta, lo que evita que se dañen por el polvo; en cuanto al tamaño podemos decir que la GTX 760 es mas chica que su competidora en esta comparativa.

Por la parte posterior encontramos algunos componentes, se observan también los conectores SLI protegidos como los demás conectores por cubiertas de plástico, en esta ocasión la tarjeta de vídeo no cuenta con un backplate como su hermana mayor la GTX 770, aunque esto es derivado a que el peso de la GTX 760 es menor con lo cual no era necesario.

Para la alimentación energética de la tarjeta de vídeo es necesario un conector PCI-e de 8 pines, en el caso de que tu fuente de poder no incluya este conector en los accesorios se incluye un adaptador, también observamos un emblema que destaca la tecnologia DirectCU II.

Si eres un gamer extremo y requieres de más poder de procesamiento gráfico, en la GTX 760 es posible realizar un arreglo SLI, para ello contamos con los conectores en la parte superior, aunque no se ha incluido el puente SLI.

Ahora encontramos la tecnologia Direct Power encargada, en conjunto con la tecnología Super Alloy Power, de dotar de alta calidad energética a nuestra GPU con lo cual aumentamos su rendimiento y capacidad de overclock; así mismo obteniendo mayor eficiencia se puede reducir las temperaturas de PCB hasta en un 17%.

Para analizar el interior de la GTX 760 fue necesario remover el disipador retirando los 4 tornillos que lo sujetan, es importante mencionar que si haces esto en tu tarjeta de vídeo tu garantía quedará anulada, es por ello que nosotros te mostramos su interior.

Justo a un costado del chip gráfico encontramos los componentes de la tecnología Super Alloy Power, los cuales nos otorgan mayor rendimiento y confiabilidad, esta tecnología se incluye en los capacitores, chokes y mosfets.

Como observamos en el chip gráfico Nvidia GK104 a 28nm las temperaturas no serán uno de los problemas ya que hace muy buen contacto con el disipador, lo que nos garantiza hasta un 20% menos de temperatura sin sacrificar un trabajo silencioso ya que el sistema instalado es hasta 3 veces más silencioso gracias a la tecnologia DirectCU II.

Para realizar lo que comentamos, la tecnología DirectCU II dota de mayor eficiencia al momento de enfriar los componentes como lo son las 4 pipetas de cobre de 10mm, que al hacer contacto directo con el GPU se encarga de disipar el calor de manera óptima.

Finalmente en el panel trasero de la GTX 760 encontramos los conectores de vídeo donde contaremos con una conexión HDMI, un Display Port así como los conectores DVI-D y DVI-I, también se cuenta con una rejilla por donde se arrojará el aire caliente hacia fuera de nuestro gabinete.

A detalle – ASUS R9 270X

Al momento de analizar a la tarjeta de vídeo ASUS R9 270X podremos ver que la principal diferencia es el tamaño ya que es 5cm más larga que la GTX 760. En cuanto al diseño nos encontramos de igual manera los colores negro y rojo, variando únicamente el tamaño de las lineas.

Para la protección de los conectores también se han incluido cubiertas plásticas, con lo cual se agrega protección contra el polvo cuando no estemos utilizando dichas conexiones.

Para la R9 270X también se ha agregado un emblema destacando la tecnología DirectCU II así como un emblema de ASUS por un costado.

En el caso de multi-GPU podremos realizar un arreglo por medio del puente incluido en nuestros accesorios, ya que nuestra tarjeta es compatible con la tecnología de AMD CrossFire.

A diferencia de nuestra tarjeta en comparativa la ASUS R9 270X requiere de 2 conectores PCI-e de 6 pins para su alimentación energética, en este caso también se nos incluye un adaptador de corriente por si nuestra fuente de poder no cuente con ambos conectores.

Como otra de las diferencias, observamos que en la parte posterior de la tarjeta de vídeo contamos con un mayor número de componentes, que en conjunto con su tamaño, hacen de la ASUS R9 270X una tarjeta más pesada que su competidora.

Retirando los 4 tornillos que sujetan al disipador podremos observar los componentes internos de la tarjeta de vídeo, observado el chip gráfico y los componentes de la tecnología Super Alloy Power.

Como la tecnología Super Alloy Power de ASUS no es exclusiva para algún fabricante de chips de video, tendremos esta cualidad incluida en ambas tarjetas, por lo cual ambas nos ofrecen un rendimiento estable y un sistema confiable debido a que contaremos con la última tecnología en capacitores, chokes y mosfets ofreciendo mayores capacidades de overclock.

Para la R9 270X no contaremos con Direct Power pero si con la tecnología de DIGI+ VRM encargada de ajustar el voltaje de manera eficiente por lo cual, con una menor perdida de energía nosotros obtendremos hasta un 15% menos en consumo energético comparada con el diseño de referencia.

Ya habíamos mencionado el peso de la tarjeta por su tamaño y los componentes que la constituyen, por lo cual ASUS agregó un suporte extra en el PCB, evitando con ésto que se curve o dañe una vez que la añadimos a nuestro sistema.

El chip gráfico AMD Radeon Pitcairn a 28nm también viene protegido por medio de la tecnología DirectCU II, por lo cual tendremos mayor eficiencia en las temperaturas generadas tras largas jornadas de juegos.

Como se observa, a diferencia de la GTX 760, en esta ocasión las pipetas están distribuidas en ambos lados del disipador, por lo cual gracias a la la alta densidad de las aletas el calor se disipa eficientemente.

Concordando con los conectores del panel trasero en la R9 270X encontramos una conexión HDMI, un Display Port así como los conectores DVI-D y DVI-I, y de igual manera contamos con una rejilla por la que se arrojara el aire caliente fuera de nuestro gabinete.

Tecnologías

ASUS DirectCU II

ASUS promociona este sistema con el lema «20% cooler and 3X quieter» que consiste en un exclusivo disipador de calor que cuenta con un par de ventiladores a prueba de polvo.

Cuenta con un gran disipador de calor de alta densidad con aletas amplias para una mejor disipación, lo que nos ofrece una temperatura 20% menor que con los disipadores de referencia.

Tiene 125% mayor área de disipación y cubierta hecha de aluminio de alta conductividad y una operación casi silenciosa con ventiladores especialmente calibrados.

En esta tecnología, las pipetas de cobre están en contacto directo con el procesador de gráficos, lo que hace más eficiente la transferencia de calor y como consecuencia lo mantiene más fresco

 

Super Alloy Power

Super Alloy Power es la tecnología que se utiliza en los capacitores, chokes y mosfets que se instalan en las tarjetas ASUS. Esta tecnología les proporciona 2.5X mas tiempo de vida a los capacitores, mantiene los mosfets a una temperatura de trabajo menor y les da mayor rendimiento; con ésto maximiza la capacidad de overclock de la tarjeta de vídeo.

 

DIGI+ VRM

DIGI+ VRM está integrado con ajustes digitales para modificar el voltaje de acuerdo a distintos escenarios. Debido a los cambios precisos de voltaje nos da un bajo ruido eléctrico, con lo que obtenemos un overclock mas estable.

Otra de las cualidades de DIGI+ VRM es que transfiere de manera inteligente la corriente entre las fases, resultando en una menor perdida de energía, reduciendo el consumo energético hasta en un 15% en comparativa con el diseño de referencia.

Adicional a las ventajas anteriores, al ajustar dinámicamente la frecuencia reduce hasta en un 50% la interferencia electromagnética (EMI).

GPU Tweak

GPU Tweak es la herramienta que nos proporciona ASUS con sus tarjetas gráficas para monitorear en tiempo real distintos valores de nuestra tarjeta tales como voltajes, temperatura, frecuencia, velocidad de los ventiladores entre otros más. Además nos sirve para overclockearla de una manera sencilla e intuitiva, permitiéndonos modificar frecuencias, velocidades de los ventiladores entre otros valores, todo ésto para obtener un rendimiento mayor de nuestro hardware de vídeo.

Es momento de analizar el software a detalle:

En la primer ventana que nos despliega observamos por la parte izquierda un monitor con las características mas importantes de la GPU como lo son la temperatura , el porcentaje de uso, voltajes y todo esto se va generando en tiempo real por lo cual podremos estar al pendiente del estado de nuestra tarjeta de vídeo.

En el caso de la ventana de la derecha tendremos los parámetros de overclock donde podremos modificar la frecuencia del reloj en Boost del GPU y la frecuencia de la memoria, también podremos ajustar de manera manual la velocidad de los ventiladores para disipar eficientemente el calor generado por el overclock.

En el software se incluyen varias pestañas que nos ofrecen mayores características, dentro de «Live Update» podremos actualizar el VBIOS de nuestra GPU en caso de ser necesario.

«Settings» nos permitirá ajustar los parámetros del software activando o desactivando funciones, también podremos configurar atajos del teclado para mayor rapidez en el uso del GPU Tweak.

Pruebas de Rendimiento

Para realizar las pruebas de rendimiento se utilizó un equipo con el sistema operativo recién instalado, instalando únicamente los drivers y software requerido para las pruebas. Se desactivó cualquier proceso que pudiera estar corriendo en segundo plano y que pudiera afectar los resultados de las pruebas, todas las pruebas fueron efectuadas por triplicado y lo que aquí mostramos es un promedio de las mismas.

Los resultados que a continuación se muestran son únicamente válidos para el equipo de pruebas utilizado y en las condiciones antes mencionadas, por lo que no se puede esperar tener los mismos valores con configuraciones diferentes. Nuestros resultados sirven solamente como una guía para mostrar el potencial del hardware que testeamos y de lo que ustedes pueden esperar del mismo.

Dentro de las pruebas de rendimiento decidimos hacer un poco de overclock a cada tarjeta de vídeo mediante el software incluido «GPU Tweak» modificando unicamente los valores en frecuencia del GPU y la memoria.

Conclusiones

Nota: Los comentarios denotados en las conclusiones son hechos en base a las pruebas realizadas así como a las tecnologías que el revisor considera importantes, siendo imparcial y objetivo. En ModdingMX se tiene la filosofía de compartir nuestras experiencias en el modding y hardware, es por ello que las conclusiones y premios otorgados quedan totalmente a cargo del revisor confiando en su experiencia y esperando que ayude a todos aquellos que busquen lo que aquí se expone como un comentario personal.

Al igual que la comparativa que realizamos anteriormente de la ASUS GTX 770 y la ASUS R9 280X nos encontramos con resultados muy similares y esto nos confirma que AMD se puso en serio las pilas en su nueva serie R9, compitiendo de igual a igual con aquellas soportadas con los chips de Nvidia, por lo cual podremos encontrar una escala de precio-rendimiento muy buena en el lado de AMD.

Si bien la ASUS GTX 760 gano en la mayoría de las pruebas fue por una diferencia muy corta y esto también es gracias a las tecnologías con las cuales ASUS dotó a sus tarjetas de vídeo, obteniendo un beneficio extra con el overclock de fabrica en comparativa con los modelos de referencia, y si tu preocupación es que con este incremento el calentamiento sea mayor, contamos con la tecnología DirectCU II, un sistema optimo a la hora de enfriar las componentes y con un ruido apenas perceptible, con lo cual podremos pasar horas jugando sin preocuparnos de las temperaturas en nuestro GPU.

Otro de los puntos es el overclock, debido a que ya cuenta con un algo desde fabrica no nos fue posible elevar en un gran porcentaje el mismo mediante valores de frecuencia, por lo cual si quieres un rendimiento aún mayor tendrás que jugar con voltajes y frecuencias en simultáneo, aunque esto no es inseguro debido a que con las tecnología DIGI+ VRM, en el caso de la ASUS R9 270X, obtenemos un sistema eficiente con alimentación energética de alta calidad y un sistema estable cuando realizamos overclock, mientras en que en la ASUS GTX 760 tendremos Direct Power ofreciendo cualidades similares.

Nvidia y AMD son la clásica guerra que encontraremos en el mundo del hardware, pero con un rendimiento tan similar la decisión de qué tarjeta de vídeo adquirir se basará principalmente en cual marca es tu favorita, así como las características únicas de cada una por ejemplo, en Nvidia el soporte para PhysX y su tecnología CUDA y en AMD su ya lista tecnología Mantle.
