I lost my wireless keyboard adapter: what should I do?

Active PC users often ask what to do if they lost the adapter from the wireless keyboard what to do if a problem occurs. In most cases, the answer is the same — buying a new device. But do not rush, because there are a number of methods that allow you to solve the problem without significant expenses.

What to do

Keyboard adapter — a receiver that provides communication between two devices, receiving and transmitting information. If the user has lost this device, the second part of the kit becomes useless, and the question arises what to do. It will not be possible to directly contact a computer or laptop (if this option is not provided), but there are a number of alternative options. nine0003

Write to support

The first thing to do if a person has lost the receiver is to contact the manufacturer’s support service and ask how to connect the wireless keyboard to another adapter. The letter should describe the situation and ask for help in solving the problem. Alternatively, support workers are asked to take a picture of the device, or at least dictate its exact name. You can request a new USB adapter later. But keep in mind that the option is relevant only for large companies, for example, Logitech. nine0003

Representatives of budget companies, if the adapter from the wireless keyboard is lost, can recommend ways to solve the problem or advise you to buy a new device. If the manufacturer nevertheless agreed to delivery, please provide the correct address. If it is Moscow or St. Petersburg, there should be no difficulties.

Check compatibility on the manufacturer’s website

The next solution to what to do if a person suddenly lost the receiver is to try to connect a wireless keyboard through a third-party adapter. There is no need to waste time on the usual selection. Better to go the wiser way:

  1. Go to the manufacturer’s website.
  2. Find information on the equipment you are interested in.
  3. Look up adapter interchangeability data.

But what to do once the necessary information is found? It’s simple — order a lost device on Avito or another website.

Look at websites selling used keyboards

If the user has lost the adapter from the wireless device, this is not a reason to run to the store and make purchases. Try to find the product on sites that sell old products. Perhaps someone is selling the adapter separately or together with the keyboard, but at a bargain price. The main thing is that the device models are fully consistent with each other. But remember that even in this case there is a risk of incompatibility. nine0003

Use the Unifying receiver

Many people ask what to do and how to bind a wireless keyboard to another adapter if you suddenly lose the right device. This is real when it comes to Logitech products. The inscription Unifying indicates the possibility of using any receiver with the same picture. In addition, up to six different devices can be connected to such a device: not only a wireless keyboard, but also mice, clickers and other equipment.

If a person suddenly loses the adapter, do the following:

  1. Download and install the Unifying software from the official website. It is with its help that the necessary configuration will be performed.
  2. Register on the official Logitech website. Once again, we note that this method is available only for the company’s products. During registration, please provide only true and accurate information.
  3. Write to technical support and tell them about the current situation, they say, they lost the adapter from the wireless keyboard, and a replacement is needed.
  4. Attach a photo of the device and serial number to the application.
  5. Wait for a response and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Sometimes support workers ask clarifying questions, and then send the equipment to the address of the applicant. After that, it remains to install the program and configure it for your keyboard. How to do this is given in the instructions for the device.

Tuning over another USB adapter

Many people ask if it is possible to reflash the adapter if it does not fit for some reason, and what to do about it. This method exists, but does not always work. In addition, for a successful connection, a full match of the two models is necessary. It is important to remember that the receiver and the wireless keyboard recognize each other by ID. To enable them to interact, take the following steps:

  1. Switch on and enable the wireless keyboard. Replace the batteries beforehand or they are exhausted.
  2. Move the device closer to the USB port.
  3. Plug the adapter into the socket.
  4. After 10-15 seconds, turn on the keyboard and hold down the ESC button.
  5. Wait for approval.

Depending on the device model, you may need to press other keys, and sometimes this is not necessary at all. More precise information can be obtained from the manufacturer and on forums of interest. Write an explanation, saying that you lost the receiving device and you need to use another one to connect the wireless keyboard. nine0003

What can replace

In conclusion, let’s consider whether it is possible to connect a wireless keyboard without an adapter if you have lost the latter. This is possible if the device is designed for such operation. For example, some models can also connect via bluetooth. To connect, do the following:

  1. Install the drivers, if not already done.
  2. Right click on the Bluetooth symbol on PC.
  3. Open the menu and search for the device. nine0022
  4. Find or connect to a wireless keyboard.

If the device is not designed to work without a USB adapter, and the user has lost it, try the methods discussed above. If they did not help, the only way out is to buy new equipment. The device cannot be restored.

Thousands of complaints can be found on the Web, they say, they lost the adapter from the wireless keyboard, what to do. In this case, try to find a receiver, order the same one from the manufacturer, or use another device with a similar model. As a last resort, replacement of the equipment can always become rescue. nine0003
