The game takes place in the post-apocalyptic wastelands of former Russia, where the player must cope with the new dangers of the world and participate in the fight against mutated creatures, as well as hostile people. Traveling across Russia, you will bond with your companions, attract new like-minded allies and face fierce enemies in the wastelands. The player owns an arsenal of unique firearms and other weapons that can be upgraded. The game features a mixture of linear levels and open locations available for the player to explore. There is also a dynamic weather system, a cycle of day and night, and the changing seasons of the seasons as the story progresses
