The Intel Core i7-870 is a Desktop processor with 4 cores, launched in 2009. It is part of the Core i7 lineup, using the Lynnfield architecture with Socket LGA1156. The core-count is effectively doubled, to 8 threads. Core i7-870 has 8MB of L3 cache and operates at 2.93 GHz by default, but can boost up to 3.6 GHz, depending on the workload. Intel is building the Core i7-870 on a 45 nm production process. Intel’s processor supports DDR3 memory with a dual-channel interface. It is worth noting that this processor does not have integrated graphics. This processor can run on motherboards with the following chipsets: 3450 / NVIDIA NF200, H55, H57, P55, P67, Q57.
