Pentium 987 — Intel — WikiChip

Pentium 987 is a 64-bit dual-core budget mobile x86 microprocessor introduced by Intel in 2012. Fabricated on a 32 nm process based on the Sandy Bridge microarchitecture, this chip operates at 1.5 GHz with a TDP of 17 W. The Pentium 987 supports up to 16 GiB of dual-channel DDR4-1333 memory and incorporates Intel’s HD Graphics IGP operating at 350 MHz with a burst frequency of 1 GHz.

Cache Organization

Cache is a hardware component containing a relatively small and extremely fast memory designed to speed up the performance of a CPU by preparing ahead of time the data it needs to read from a relatively slower medium such as main memory.

The organization and amount of cache can have a large impact on the performance, power consumption, die size, and consequently cost of the IC.

Cache is specified by its size, number of sets, associativity, block size, sub-block size, and fetch and write-back policies.

Note: All units are in kibibytes and mebibytes.

✖Asus VivoBook X202E 11.6″ Intel Pentium 987 1.5GHz / 4GB / 500GB

Flash-based storage devices such as SSDs have no mechanical components. Due to this, they are typically faster, run silently, and are more shock resistant than traditional HDDs.

4.internal storage

The internal storage refers to the built-in storage space available in a device for system data, apps, and user-generated data. With a large amount of internal storage, you can save more files and apps on your device.

5.CPU speed

2 x 1.8GHz

2 x 1.5GHz

The CPU speed indicates how many processing cycles per second can be executed by a CPU, considering all of its cores (processing units). It is calculated by adding the clock rates of each core or, in the case of multi-core processors employing different microarchitectures, of each group of cores.

6.CPU threads

Intel Core i3-3225

Intel Pentium 987

Which one to choose?

It’s time to choose the winner. What is the difference and which is better in Intel Core i3-3225 vs Intel Pentium 987 comparison? Which processor is more powerful and faster? It is quite simple to determine — look at the comparative table of all characteristics. A processor with more cores/threads, as well as a higher frequency and large L2-L3 is the absolute winner!

CPU cores, base and turbo speeds

Who will win the Intel Core i3-3225 vs. Intel Pentium 987 comparison. The overall performance of a processor can be easily determined based on the number of cores, threads, and base and turbo clock speeds + L2 volume -L3. The more cores, L3, and clock speed, the more efficient the processor. Please note that high specifications require the use of a powerful cooling system.

IPS (In-Plane Switching) is a technology used for LCD displays. It was designed to overcome the main limitations of conventional twisted nematic TFT displays such as limited viewing angles and poor color quality. PLS (Plane Switching) is a type of IPS screen developed by Samsung, with higher brightness and lower cost.

    Performance

    1.Random Access Memory

Random Access Memory (RAM) is a form of memory used to store work data and machine code currently in use. It is a temporary, fast-access virtual storage that can be read and modified in any order, allowing fast data processing.

✔HP Chromebook 14 14″ Intel Celeron 2905U 1.4GHz / 4 devices Flash-based information storage such as SSD drives do not use mechanical components. Because of this, they tend to be faster, quieter, and better able to withstand shock than traditional hard drives.

    4.built-in memory

Built-in memory is the built-in space for storing system data, applications, and user data in the device. With more internal storage, you can store more files and apps on your device.

    5.CPU speed

    2 x 1.5GHz

    2 x 1.4GHz

CPU speed indicates how many processing cycles per second a processor can perform, considering all its cores (processors). It is calculated by adding the clock speeds of each core or, in the case of multi-core processors, each group of cores.

    Geekbench 5, 64bit (Single-Core)

Geekbench 5 is a memory-intensive, cross-platform test. A fast memory will greatly push the result. The single-core test uses only one CPU core, the number of cores or hyper-threading capability is not taken into account.

    Geekbench 5, 64bit (Multi-Core)

Geekbench 5 is a memory-intensive, cross-platform benchmark. A fast memory will greatly push the result. The multi-core test uses all the CPU cores and has a big advantage of hyper-threading.

    iGPU — FP32 Performance (Single-precision GFLOPS)

Theoretical processing performance of the processor’s internal graphics unit with simple precision (32 bits) in GFLOPS. GFLOPS specifies how many billions of floating point operations the iGPU can perform per second.

    Blender 2.81 (bmw27)

Blender is a free 3D graphics software for rendering (creating) 3D bodies that can also be textured and animated in the program. The Blender test creates predefined scenes and measures the time(s) required for the entire scene. The less time it takes, the better. We chose the bmw27 as our reference scene.

    Geekbench 3, 64bit (Single-Core)

Geekbench 3 is a cross-platform benchmark that is memory intensive. A fast memory will greatly push the result. The single-core test uses only one CPU core, the number of cores or hyper-threading capability is not taken into account.

    Attention!

This update is a standalone update that targets Windows 10 release to market (RTM). This update also includes Intel firmware updates that were already released for these operating systems at the time the original equipment manufacturer (RTM) version was released. In this article, additional microcode updates from Intel will be offered for these operating systems as soon as they become available from Microsoft. By default, such protection will be disabled for Specter variant 4 (CVE-2018-3639: «Smart Bypass Storage (SSB)»). Verify that Specter Variant 4 Protection (CVE-2018-3639: «Smart Storage Bypass (SSB)») is enabled for the Windows client using the registry settings described in the following article:

Check with the device manufacturer and Intel through their web — Sites regarding their recommendation of firmware for the device before installing this update on the device.
