With the RTX 2060 having brought the Turing architecture to a new low in terms of pricing, partners have been quick out the gate with a variety of card designs – standard for a new Nvidia launch. At one end of the scale, there are cards like the Asus RTX 2060 Strix OC, which is packed with features but ludicrously overpriced to the point of comedy. Then we have more sensible cards like this one from Palit; it won’t have fancy features or advanced cooling, but the RTX 2060 doesn’t necessarily need it, and Palit is able to hit much more reasonable pricing with the RTX 2060 GamingPro OC as a result. This card typically retails for £350, which is only £20 more than the now out of stock Founders Edition.
The downside to this approach is there’s no real sense of luxury here. The card is supplied without any accessories, and the run-of-the-mill design is thoroughly unexciting. The all-black plastic shroud with glossy highlights does at least retain colour neutrality, but you don’t even get a backplate to cover the ugly PCB and exposed cooler on the back. In fairness, the card isn’t heavy or big enough to make having a backplate a necessity, but the preference is always going to be having one these days.
This unimposing card measures just 235mm long and fits a proper dual slot form factor in terms of depth and height, so it’s a valid contender for cramped cases. As mentioned, aesthetic niceties are few here, but Palit evidently couldn’t resist having a little bit of lighting for the feature list and has installed a single small light strip along the top edge that glows static white.
The ‘OC’ in the card’s name reveals that Palit ships the card with a factory overclock. The boost clock has been raised by a rather impressive nine percent to 1,830MHz, but as usual the 6GB of GDDR6 memory is left at 14Gbps. Amusingly, this is the same as we saw on the £455 Asus card, although Palit isn’t alone in offering such a speed in a more basic card, as it’s a common boost speed to see among overclocked partner cards. Exact in-game boost speeds of cards will as always also depend on power/thermal/voltage headroom, but it’s great to see Palit not skimping on the core overclock.
The overclock is enough to raise the TDP from 160W to 190W, which is pretty substantial but not unexpected given how the Turing architecture typically responds to clock speed increases. It’s still a relatively low figure, though (RX 590, a lower end part, is rated at 225W), and the single eight-pin PCIe connector will supply the majority (150W) with the remainder coming from the PCIe 3.0 slot itself (up to 75W).
Palit has run with a very minimal display output configuration, enabling just one apiece of dual-link DVI-D, HDMI 2.0b, and DisplayPort 1.4. The latter is the one you’ll need to take advantage of any variable refresh rate technologies like G-Sync or FreeSync, which modern Nvidia cads now support. A second DisplayPort would have given multi-monitor users a bit more future-proofing, perhaps, but most gamers probably won’t mind the loss. Like many other RTX 2060 partner cards, VirtualLink over USB Type-C is also missing.
The dual-fan cooler uses nine-blade, 90mm fans that are large enough to run almost edge-to-edge on the shroud. The open design means that most air will be recycled into your chassis, with at least some off it directly hitting your motherboard. Sadly the fans are not semi-passive, so even when the GPU is near enough totally idle the fans will remain on.
The heatsink itself uses a copper baseplate to cool the GPU, and as usual this feeds a bunch of copper heat pipes that feed a single aluminium fin stack. The heatsink also fills the volume of the card well enough so as to not waste space, and although the copper isn’t nickel-plated you can’t actually see much of it. Pleasingly, the memory modules, chokes, capacitors, and the main voltage regulator are all directly cooled by an integrated metal plate and thermal pads, so despite the more budget leanings Palit is clearly still taking cooling seriously.
The stubby PCB is based on the reference design and features largely the same layout. Since this is an overclocked part, the GPU is the TU106-200A, with the ‘A’ indicating that it is binned and thus permitted to be sold by Nvidia partners in overclocked cards like this one. Non-overclocked RTX 2060s aren’t that common, though, and even the stock-clocked Founders card using the ‘A’ variant. Meanwhile, you get a 6+2 phase power configuration, which is really a lot for a card like this (no bad thing). Palit also includes DrMOS components on this PCB.

Fire Strike
항목을 측정해 봤습니다.
DirectX12 기반의 4K 게이밍 성능을 나타내는 지표인 Time Spy는 7천 후반대로 높은 점수를 뽑아주고 있으며,
Fire Strike에서는 1.8만점에 가까운 17594가 나와 3세대 라이젠 시스템과도 궁합이 잘 맞는 것을 알 수 있습니다.
PALIT RTX 2060

Unboxing
The Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G comes in the usual eye logo packaging that we’re familiar with – you’ll only see the eagle if it’s under the AORUS branding. Just like the rest of the RTX 20 series cards in the market, it uses GDDR6 memory and comes with real-time ray tracing and DLSS features for the existing and upcoming RTX games.
At the back of the box, you’ll find more of the highlighted features such as the Windforce cooling fan design, copper heatpipes that is in direct contact with the GPU die for better cooling performance, RGB Fusion 2.0 lighting and the included metal back plate at the back of the PCB.
The Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G
Since Gigabyte has drawn a clear line between its Gigabyte and AORUS branding, you’ll be seeing this same design across the higher-end of each series under the Gigabyte brand. The triple-fan design is pretty similar to the RTX 2080 Gaming OC 8G, with one the middle fan rotating in opposing direction for better cooling performance.
Despite having a triple fan cooler, this card only takes up two PCIe expansion slot. So, you’ll get some extra clearance for small form factor chassis. The only RGB lighting you’ll get on this card is the translucent GIGABYTE logo that can be disabled via RGB Fusion when not needed. It’s not flashy and over-exaggerated in terms of design, so those who like simple design for their graphics card might find it to their liking.
To power the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G, you’ll need at least a 500W power supply with 8-pin PCIe power connector. That’s pretty much the same as the GeForce RTX 2060 Founders Edition.
The backplate on the back of the PCB looks pretty similar to the one on the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 GAMING OC 8G, albeit it’s slightly shorter.
Here’s a quick design comparison for both the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Founders Edition and the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G. Apart from the obvious difference in length, the Gigabyte card appears to be slightly slimmer than the RTX 2060 Founders Edition.
As for the display output, you’ll get a total of three DisplayPort and one HDMI on the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G. Unlike the RTX 2060 Founders Edition, this doesn’t comes with a USB Type-C port.
On the RTX 2060 Founders Edition, you’ll get two DisplayPort, one HDMI, one USB Type-C and one DVI-D.
Test System Setup
For our games benchmark test, we’ve selected a number of AAA titles to run at its highest possible settings using the following setup under ambient temperature of 30°C:
The test is done separately for games that support both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 at the resolution of 1920×1080, 2560×1440 and 3840×2160.
Games Benchmark
Starting off with 1080p, we can see that both the RTX 2060 Founders Edition and RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G can handle majority of the selected AAA titles at above 60FPS with the highest settings without much issue.
Both the latest Assassin’s Creed running at its highest settings are deemed too heavy for the RTX 2060 to handle, so we recommend tuning it down from ultra to high for the best result. As for Battlefield V with DXR enabled, the result aren’t looking that good without DLSS. Higher numbers can be achieved with DLSS enabled but we’re looking forward to see better improvement in terms of graphics quality in the next DLSS update from the game publisher.
As we scale up to 1440p, both the RTX 2060 are still capable of maintaining 60FPS on most of the selected titles. Though, we can notice some of the games i.e Watch Dogs 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Tom Clancy’s The Division at DX12 started to fall below 60FPS.
It gets rather challenging for both the RTX 2060 as we move on on to 4K resolution. Based on the result above, you can see that maintaining 60FPS at 4K resolution and highest settings is probably something you should leave it to the RTX 2080 or RTX 2080 Ti. If you insisted on playing these AAA titles on 4K using the RTX 2060, lowering the settings to medium or high is recommended but at the cost of the graphics quality in overall.
Temperature
The GPU idle temperature is around 44°C and hovers around 66°C most of the time during our games benchmark. Enabling real-time ray tracing feature for RTX games will result in a slightly higher peak temperature reading at 67°C. Compared to the RTX 2060 Founders Edition, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G is 10°C cooler on full load. Manual adjustment on the fan curve via AORUS ENGINE to suit your need if you’re not comfortable with this temperature.
Verdict
Based on the game performance benchmark alone we can already see that the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G does pack quite a punch of its own. Although 4K resolution might be a bit too much for it to handle, the benchmark result shows that the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G has no problem in handling the selected AAA titles at 1080p and 1440p on the highest settings.
Apart from being faster than a RTX 2060 Founders Edition, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G also runs much cooler on load with its signature triple-fan cooler. Unlike it’s AORUS counter part, it’s not going to be a fancy decorative piece in your system when it comes to RGB lighting. Even so, there are still some sacrifice to be made when it comes to having a triple-fan cooler – especially when it comes to the length of the card itself. This means that the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G will have lower compatibility with small-sized chassis as compared to the RTX 2060 Founders Edition.
When it comes to the retail price, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G is definitely not the most affordable RTX 2060 around. At the price of RM 1,999, it is rather expensive if you were to consider that it’s not as solidly built and lacks of the support for USB Type-C which can be found on the RTX 2060 Founders Edition. Though, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro 6G does have its own qualities to compensate for this.
Pros
- Decent cooling performance
- Performs better than a GTX 1070 Ti in most cases
- Supports DLSS and Ray Tracing features for RTX games
- Bundled with free game for a limited time (Battlefield V or Anthem or Metro Exodus)
Cons
- Doesn’t support NVLink
- No USB Type-C
- Price is a bit steep

Introduction
We’ve tested quite a few Palit cards over the past few months. And then they suddenly discovered that they completely forgot about the younger RTXs in the form of 2060 versions without the Super additive.
In the meantime, these accelerators are not out of production at all, they still officially open the model range of NVIDIA video cards with hardware support for ray tracing and are widely represented in retail.
We chose for review, in our opinion, the optimal version of the GeForce RTX 2060 produced by Palit — the GamingPro OC model. In terms of cost, this video card is located close to the lower price limit of the GeForce RTX 2060, but at the same time it is an overclocked «non-reference» with an advanced cooling system. At least at first glance. And how it all works in practice, as usual, we will find out in the review.
Packaging and scope of delivery
Box standard for the series. I like this design even more than the more expensive JetStream line. Simply because it is immediately clear which particular model is in front of us.
recommendations
At the same time, the quality of printing on the outer «dust jacket» is at its best, and its back side is simply full of information.
A full-fledged strong cardboard box is hidden under the outer layer of thick paper. And inside it, the video card is additionally protected from all sides by polyethylene foam.
The antistatic package is also not forgotten:
Traditionally, modern video cards do not have any delivery set, except for the quick start guide.
As there are no plugs on the slots and output ports. But the plastic casing of the cooling system protects the film.
Design and construction Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro OC
I’m not even going to take it off — it won’t hurt to check how the video card works.
And for those who definitely want to know how it looks without the film, you can bring the official photo of the manufacturer in the same angle:
And from the frontal projection:
Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro OC has medium dimensions. The whole structure is 235 mm long, has a height close to the standard for expansion cards and occupies exactly two expansion slots (for comfortable work, it is better to have at least three free in a row).
I am not in vain specifying the dimensions of the whole structure, because the length of the board itself is about 170 mm (this is the ITX format). But the cooling system, which strongly protrudes beyond its limits, significantly increases the dimensions of the model.
Moreover, the local heatsink on four heat pipes uses all the available space, protruding to the level of the board in that part. It was specially designed for PCB of this format.
As part of this review, I did not have the opportunity to disassemble the Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro OC, but everything is clear with cooling and power systems. We can safely assume that direct contact of the tubes to the video processor is used. But in the case of not the hottest GeForce RTX 2060, this is not as critical as, for example, with the GeForce RTX 2080 Super.
Everything else is more than decent: two 90 mm fans, a large dissipation area of a vast array of aluminum fins honestly soldered to heat pipes; 6+1 power supply system (GPU and memory) using DrMOS.
Power connector is one, but full-fledged, eight-pin. The recommended minimum PSU power is 500W.
But with the output ports, the manufacturer saved in comparison with modern standards. Just one Display Port is not enough in today’s times. But, in addition to the usual HDMI, there is also the good old DVI.
This graphics card is perfect for upgrading a battered gaming computer with a not the most modern monitor and will be able to breathe new life into it for a while.
This concludes the review part, it’s time to move on to the tests.
When the system is turned on, the rather bright white illumination attracts attention. Glowing, alas, is not the obligatory inscription GeForce RTX, but simply a wide strip under it. The backlight is not RGB, and it will not be possible to control (and also disable) it using the standard Palit Thunder Master utility.
Cooling efficiency, noise level and overclocking potential
Before us is a well-overclocked GeForce RTX 2060 relative to the reference level. The GPU Boost frequency is increased from the standard 1680 MHz by as much as 150 MHz — up to 1830. Of course, there are models with higher factory overclocking. But before us, let me remind you, is one of the most budgetary GeForce RTX 2060 in general.
At the same time, at no load, the temperature of the video processor at room temperature of 23-24°C, which I consistently maintain indoors during all my tests, is only slightly above 30 degrees. And the fans of the cooling system rotate at a speed of about 1000 rpm, making noise that, from a distance of 100 cm from the plane of the video card, only minimally stands out from the background level of 30 dB. The sound level meter recorded 31 dB.
But how does the Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro OC perform under heavy load? We check:
The GPU heats up to a maximum of 70 degrees — this is an adequate value. At the same time, the cooling system fans have to spin up to 2200 RPM. The noise level from a distance of one meter in the process is 40 dB. It is quite noticeable, but for a gaming video card, this must be recognized as normal. Firstly, in a closed case, noise will be less audible. And, secondly, games are usually accompanied by their own soundtrack.
At the same time, the real frequency of the video processor in MSI Kombustor is very pleasing — 1800 MHz. But this is clearly not the limit. Let’s try to overclock it:
In my case, the Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro OC worked stably with the GPU Boost set to 1960 MHz and 8350 MHz for memory (against 7000 regular ones for the local 6 GB GDDR6). And the real frequency when warming up at 1950 MHz looks just fine. At the same time, a temperature of 75 degrees is more than tolerable. The only thing that could be better is the noise level.
When overclocked, the fans have to spin up to 2500 rpm, and the noise level from a distance of 100 cm increases to 43 dB. But for performance and good overclocking, you have to pay something. In reality, you will also have to pay more money — for electricity. True, not much: if when you start the MSI Kombustor without overclocking the video card, the power consumption of the entire system is 290 W, then with it — 40 W more. To summarize, in general, the overclocking potential and cooling efficiency of an inexpensive video card definitely deserve praise.
And let me remind you once again that in the reviews of end-vendor video cards, we do not aim to re-examine their performance. So, in the case of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, the results of gaming and synthetic tests can be found, for example, in this review of mine.
Conclusion
This is the fourth Palit GamingPro series I’ve tested. This line from the manufacturer is budgetary, and not all models in it turn out to be successful. Definitely one of the most affordable on a particular GPU. But not always quiet and with decent overclocking potential.
Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro OC is an example of a good budget graphics card. At the price of one of the cheapest GeForce RTX 2060, a factory overclocked accelerator with good overclocking potential is offered. What else does a diligent gamer need? Unless the noise level could be a little less, and the backlight could be more successful (or you could do without it at all).

Introduction
This review will cover the third custom RTX 2060 based card, the Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro OC (NE62060T18J9-1062A). It’s also the company’s highest-end version, getting GPU acceleration up to 1830MHz out of the box, Micron’s GDRR6 memory, a 2-slot cooling solution, and no backplate or fan stop at idle. In general terms, the card should be very similar to the flagship variant from EVGA from the last review. Another thing is the cost.
Priced at $359, only $10 ahead of NVIDIA’s Founders Edition. And as usual, we are still interested in comparing temperatures, noise levels and manual overclocking, since the performance of the most charged RTX 2060 cards with GDDR6 memory and 6 GB after 3 tests has already been generally identified.
Other custom options on RTX 2060:
- ZOTAC GAMING RTX 2060 AMP
- EVGA RTX 2060 XC ULTRA GAMING
- MSI RTX 2060 Gaming Z

Current prices
In Russia, the Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro OC video card can be bought at the following price (note that all prices are updated in real time): for this product!
Temperatures and internals
- Length — 23. 5 cm
- Noise ~ 39 dB
- Weight ~ 0.7 kg
Let’s start the review of the video card with its configuration, it is rather modest. Card set consists of:
- Box
- Video card
- Manual
- Driver disc
Let’s traditionally start reviewing the video card with its coolers. The card is equipped with 2 medium-sized fans that cover most of the graphics card.
At first glance, the coolers in the 2060 reference inspire more confidence in reliability than in Palit GamingPro.
Let’s move on to the back of the video card, namely the backplate. This model does not have it. From the back of the video card, we see the back of the circuit board.
Note that the back side of the printed circuit board does not cover the entire area of the video card, but approximately 90%. On the remaining uncovered area, we can see the grille.
Recall that the backplate does not serve as cooling, moreover, on the contrary, if it is installed illiterately, the card will heat up even more. The backplate serves as a kind of protection for the back of the PCB and adds rigidity to the structure.
Note that on the top of the video card, under the inscription «Geforce RTX» there is an LED strip.
Let’s proceed directly to the internal analysis of the video card, namely to the printed circuit board and the internal cooling system (let’s start with it).
The internal cooling system consists of a fairly large radiator grill that runs through the entire area of the graphics card.
A metal plate is attached to the grill, on which the thermal pads are located. They serve as additional cooling for the memory and VRM area.
It also has a copper plate with thermal paste attached to it, which fits snugly against the GPU.
There are also 4 copper heat pipes running through the entire radiator grille. They serve to remove heat from the video card.
Let’s move on to the printed circuit board. She looks very good.
As we wrote earlier, the memory is additionally cooled with thermal pads. The card is equipped with 6 gigabytes of GDDR6 graphics memory from Micron.
As for the GPU, after removing the thermal paste, we see that we have Turing 12nm FinFet — TU106-200A-KA-A1. Country of origin — Taiwan.
It is worth noting that the thermal paste at the factory was not applied very well and spread noticeably.
Next we see the VRM area.
Let’s move on to thermal images.
Thermal imager
All thermal images were taken under maximum load for a general idea and understanding of the cooling system with a slight overclocking of the core and memory.
Measuring point | Celsius) |
---|---|
M1 | 57.8 |
M2 | 58. 5 |
M3 | 73.3 |
M4 | 38.4 |
Installing the thermal imager from the back of the video card, we get the following results:
M3’s hottest spot is 74 degrees . This is area VRM .
Pretty high temperature, especially considering the fact that the backplate does not interfere with thermal images (it is absent), which means that the temperature of the back of the video card with a minimum error.
M2 — 59 degrees. This is the area of memory. A good indicator, considering that the video card consumed 170 watts at the time of the picture.
M1 — 58 degrees. This is the area of the GPU. Good result.
Measuring point | Celsius) |
---|---|
M1 | 59. 4 |
M2 | 53.7 |
M3 | 41.9 |
M4 | 26.6 |
M5 | 44.4 |
Installing the thermal chamber on top, we get the following results:
M1 — 60 degrees. This is the VRM area.
It is also worth noting that the coolers work satisfactorily: residual heat at the top of the video card is not observed, but rather dissipates. However, the VRM area gets quite warm.
In general, the cooling system works satisfactorily, given the fact that the card consumed during testing from 160 to ~ 180 watts, which means it generated quite a bit of heat.
Memory and power consumption
The video card is equipped with 6 GB GDDR6. Most often supplied by both Samsung and Micron.
This model is equipped with Micron memory.
In terms of power consumption, the card consumes from 110W to 190W, depending on the miner, algorithm and overclocking, where 75W goes through the riser, and the remaining 35W or 115W through 1×8 Pin PCI-e connectors from the power supply.
It is also worth noting that in the reference 2060, the graphics card power was moved to the side. Palit, on the other hand, retains the old design and places food at the top of the map.
For a farm of 6 reference RTX 2060 graphics cards and a connected power system (motherboard, SSD, processor), you will need 1 power supply for 1400 watts or 2 units for 700-750 watts.
You can find out how to power a farm with 2 power supplies on our website.
Also on our website you can choose a great block for mining: the corresponding section contains detailed articles about different power supplies: their configuration, efficiency, drawdowns, ripple, analysis and much more.
Outputs
The Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro is equipped with the following outputs:
- Dual-Link DVI-D
- HDMI 2.0b
- DisplayPort 1.4
An interesting fact is that Palit, like NVIDIA, returned the DVI port to the 2060 video card, most likely due to the fact that it belongs to the budget variants of the 20 series.
How Much You Can Earn
Like the 1060, the RTX 2060 is great at mining algos like Ethash, EnergiHash, TimeTravel10, ProgPow, X16R, X22i. Most of the coins of these algorithms are very profitable for mining.
Following are the algorithms, mining of which will bring you a little less profit, but they are still worth considering: Equihash(210.9), BCD, Zhash, Equihash(144.5), AnonyPoW, CryptoNightV8, CryptoNightHeavy, Skunkhash and others.
Well, at the end there are coins whose mining is unprofitable — these are coins that have switched to ASICs, or have been mined by ASICs for a long time, as well as coins that have scrambled: Equihash, CryptoNight, LBRY and many others.
Note that on profitable algorithms there are coins that are unprofitable to mine on this video card. This is due to their course, complexity and other factors.
We also add that if you want to receive coins of unprofitable algorithms, then you can resort to the “pseudo mining” technique. In this case, you must mine any coin of a profitable algorithm and sell it on the exchange in exchange for a coin of an unprofitable algorithm that you want to have.
The same method can be used for less profitable algorithms. However, in this situation, the process will be slightly different: you must start mining a profitable coin of a profitable algorithm and sell it during the day in exchange for a coin of a less profitable algorithm you need.
Why should I sell mined coins during the day? This is due to the fact that the rate of the coin you are mining may fall, in which case you will receive as many coins as you would have received by direct mining of the coin you need, and in the worst case, even less. Therefore, in the case of less profitable algorithms, the “pseudo mining” technique works if you sell the mined coins in exchange for the ones you need right away, on the same day.
Let’s give specific examples to prove it. All tests completed on 01/14/2019of the year, that is, the complexity and prices for the given coins are relevant as of 01/14/2019.
Let’s start with profitable algorithms, for example ProgPow, the Bitcoin Interest coin. Per day from 1 video card comes out:
- Total coins — 1.3 BCI.
- Dollar amount equivalent to mined coins – 0.44 $
Not a bad result for a budget video card.
Also, for example, consider another profitable algorithm — X22i, SUQA coin. Per day from 1 video card comes out:
- Total coins — 243 SUQA.
- USD equivalent of mined coins – 0.48 $
In general, we see almost the same result with a slight advantage on the X22i algorithm. But it also happens that some algorithm, or rather one or more of its coins, brings much more than other coins of profitable algorithms. Most often this is due to 2 things:
- The growth of the rate of these coins
- Temporary departure of miners from their production
In these cases, you will start making big profits, but we note that literally tomorrow — the day after tomorrow everything will change, and the profit will be the same, or completely different coins of profitable algorithms will bring a little more profit.
Therefore, it is up to you to decide which coin of a profitable algorithm to mine.
Next, consider the algorithm, for example, Ethash, Ether coin. Per day from 1 video card comes out:
- Total coins — 0.0026 ETH.
- Dollar amount equivalent to mined coins – $0.34
With this algorithm, we already get much less profit. However, the coins of this algorithm can be considered for mining.
Mining settings
In order to start mining cryptocurrency on a 2060 video card, you must first select the coin you need — the one you want to mine.
A list of coins with detailed descriptions, road map, team, forecast and more, you can see on our website.
Consider setting up a 2060 video card in mining using the X16R (Ravencoin) algorithm as an example.

Palit GTX 1060 GamingPro vs RTX 2060 GamingPro
In fact, the video cards are noticeably different from each other. The 2060, like the 1060, has 6 gigabytes of graphics memory. However, in 2060 it is GDDR6, versus GDDR5 in 1060. Also, the card is equipped with a slightly powerful new chip.
As for the cooling system, it is almost the same as that of 1060.
However, in mining, 2060 mines coins much more, which means it brings more profit. Despite this fact, the card is noticeably more expensive.
For the same money (and sometimes much cheaper) you can buy a video card 1070, which gives the same results in mining + — a couple of percent, and in some algorithms a couple of percent more than 2060.
Algorithm | 2060 | 1070 | 1060 |
---|---|---|---|
Ethash | 25. 89 Mh/s | 31 | 23 Mh/s |
ProgPow | 14.1 Mh/s | 13.1 Mh/s | 8 Mh/s |
BCD | 22.9 Mh/s | 20.5 | 12.2 |
X22i | 12.4 Mh/s | 10.2 Mh/s | 6.1 Mh/s |
TimeTravel10 | 30 Mh/s | 28.4 Mh/s | 17.2 Mh/s |
PHI2 | 4.1 Mh/s | 5.8 Mh/s | 4.2 Mh/s |
On our website you can read a review article («RTX 2060 in mining, first impressions»), where we compare it with 1060 and 1070 in more detail. .
First of all, it has not a lot of low-quality assembly. The shroud is flimsy and not made of the best plastic, and the coolers don’t inspire much confidence.
Second is the cooling system. Despite the fact that the card did not overheat much, it did not perform very well, especially in the VRM area. Note that the card was 1 and stood in an open stand, which means it cooled better.
Please note that the reference is 2060, did not exceed 63 degrees!
A farm of 6 such video cards will noticeably heat up against each other GPU temperature can exceed 70 degrees, and VRM over 80 (bad indicator).
We do not recommend setting the cooler speed to 100%, and even this will not help to maintain the normal temperature of the video card. It is better to set the cooler to ~69% and use additional cooling, for example, a fan. It will dissipate residual heat from the cards and thereby cool them down.
With the condition of using additional cooling, the cards keep temperatures around ~ 54-60 degrees.
Based on all of the above, the Bytwork team recommends the Palit GeForce RTX 2060 GamingPro graphics card in mining.
