Check Out AMD’s CPU, GPU Recommendations For The Best Starfield Experience At 1080p, 2K, 4K

By

Vineet Washington

Looking for the best Starfield experience? These are the best picks for CPUs and GPUs.

AMD has shared a specification breakdown for Starfield for players to have the best experience at different resolutions. With the game less than two months away from release, AMD has been getting everyone excited for the launch, as well as trying to promote its latest Ryzen 7000 series processors and Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs. The breakdown also has recommended motherboards to pair with the latest Ryzen CPUs.

Bethesda has worked with AMD on implementing the latest graphics technologies in Starfield to give fans of the red team the best possible experience. It features support for FidelityFX Super Resolution which is AMD’s response to Nvidia Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) upscaling technology. Being the exclusive PC partner for Starfield, AMD has been trying to push its latest CPUs and GPUs along with the game.

RELATED: The Best CPUs in 2023

The Starfield website shows a specification breakdown, depending on the kind of experience the player wants to have. The same was also shared by the game’s Twitter handle. It categorizes experiences at three resolutions i. e. 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. For the best experience at 1080p with “great visuals and framerates”, which the company calls the “Heroic Experience”, it recommends the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU, Radeon RX 7600 GPU, and the AMD A620 motherboard to bring it all together.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X

When looking at the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, you’ll find it’s a perfect intro price to the new generation of CPUs. You can finally access PCIe 5.0, DDR5 RAM, and the switch from pins on the CPU (which have a really high chance of bending) to having the pins on the motherboard instead.

For an “Epic Experience”, AMD recommends the Ryzen 7 7700X CPU, a Radeon RX 6800 series GPU, and an AMD B650 motherboard. The company says this setup can deliver “max visual settings and high fps” at 1440p or widescreen displays.

For a “Legendary Experience”, it recommends the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU, and an AMD X670 motherboard. With this, players should be able to game at 4K and get the “absolute best Starfield experience.

  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is AMD’s latest and greatest CPU when it comes to gaming. With an excellent and highly efficient gaming performance that tops the charts currently, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is here to stay and has a crown to claim thanks to its 3D V-Cache-enabled prowess when it comes to gaming on a PC.

  • XFX Radeon RX 7900XT GPU

    $779.99 $999.99 Save $220

The XFX Radeon RX 7900XT is based on AMD’s latest and most powerful graphics chips. The AMD RX 7900 XT is powered by the new RDNA 3 architecture, which delivers AI acceleration, a new AMD Radiance display engine, and a Chiplet design. There’s also an improved 2nd generation of ray-tracing and AMD Infinity Cache features.

This specific XFX GPU features 20 gigabytes of graphics memory on a 320-bit memory interface, a clock speed of 2400 MHz, and a powerful triple fan cooling solution.

    $779.99 at Amazon

It should be noted that these are in no way the minimum or recommended requirements for Starfield. These are suggestions from AMD to have a great experience on hardware they have probably tested with the game. Most of the CPUs and GPUs mentioned are the latest offerings from the company. AMD has been promoting the game with a game bundle that went live on July 11 and will last till the end of September. So, even though these combos will surely offer a great Starfield experience, users can find the best combination for themselves, of course considering the minimum requirements.

The minimum requirements for Starfield, as listed on Steam, are:

  • Windows 10 version 22h3 (10.0.19045)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, Intel Core i7-6800K
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700, Nvidia GeForce 1070 Ti
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 125 GB available space

As for the recommended settings:

  • Windows 10/11 with updates
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, Intel i5-10600K
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 125 GB available space

Starfield will release on September 6 for Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC via Steam.
