    • AMD Ryzen 5 4500U

    • AMD Radeon RX Vega 6

The AMD Ryzen 5 4500U is a notebook processor based on a microarchitecture codenamed Renoir. The Ryzen 5 4500U processor is the mid-range model in the new Ryzen Mobile 4000 lineup, combining Zen 2 architecture processor cores with second generation Vega integrated graphics. The AMD Ryzen 5 4500U is built on 7nm design standards and has doubled the performance per watt and 20% overall efficiency compared to AMD’s previous generation Ryzen Mobile 3000 processors.

The Ryzen 5 4500U processor has six cores and operates at frequencies of 2.3-4 GHz, which significantly exceeds the frequency performance of the previous generation of mobile AMD Ryzen. Unlike the predecessor Ryzen 5 3500U, the new Ryzen 5 4500U does not have SMT (simultaneous multithreading) support, so we only get six threads, the predecessor, as we know, had 4 cores and could process up to 8 threads. The chip has 8 MB of L3 cache, 3 MB of L2 cache, as well as support for a dual-channel DDR4-3200 and LPDDR4-4266 memory controller. The 4500U has a rated power and heat dissipation (TDP) of 15W, although the end device manufacturer may change this figure to 10-25W, which will have a corresponding effect on frequencies and performance.

The AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor integrates 2nd generation Vega 6 graphics with six compute units (384 stream processors). Compared to the previous generation Radeon RX Vega 6 (Raven Ridge), the frequency has increased significantly to 1500 MHz. Graphics performance is highly dependent on the efficiency of the cooling system in the laptop and the configuration of the RAM. In general, the Vega architecture brings some improvements over Polaris and supports DirectX Feature Level 12_1. According to the benchmarks, the performance of the Vega 6 will match the discrete Nvidia MX 150. In games, the performance will be between the MX150 and MX250. Vega 6 integrated graphics show a significant performance boost over the previous generation of AMD mobile APUs. Through increased frequencies, architectural improvements and the use of faster memory, the new graphics promise a performance boost of up to 59%, and the first tests confirm this. Testing in games look here.

    Synthetic benchmarks

    CineBench R15 rendering

Comparison of processors by the CINEBENCH cross-platform test suite — a benchmark widely used to evaluate the performance of Intel and AMD processors. It is based on the popular animation software CINEMA 4D of the German company MAXON, which is actively used by studios around the world to create 3D content. The CPU test involves rendering a certain scene in multi-threaded mode (all CPU cores are used). Rendering is the process of obtaining an image from a model using a computer program. Based on the result of the processor test, it is easy to calculate its speed — the faster the processor calculates the render, the more points it gets.
