Una Mirada Más Cercana
La portada de la caja luce un fondo oscuro con acentos en dorado. Una imagen parcial de la Seasonic X-1250 se encuentra en la esquina inferior derecha junto con el logotipo de la certificación 80PLUS Gold. Logotipos propios de la marca, la Serie X y capacidad del modelo están presentes también.
Desplazándonos a la parte posterior de la caja, se nos presenta una imagen del interior de la fuente de poder. Seasonic ha se ha esforzado por explicarnos algunas de las características más importantes de la misma.
Descubrimos varios accesorios que nos facilitaran la instalación de la unidad, así como la administración de los cables.
Tenemos varios cinchos, organizadores de velcro y tornillos. También hay un manual de usuario y una calcomanía a modo de decoración.
Como es de costumbre en los modelos de gama alta, un estuche atractivo alberga todos los cables modulares que se utilizan con la fuente de poder. Los cables tienen un diseño plano para facilitar su manejo dentro del gabinete. Solo el cable ATX tiene un diseño redondo por su grosor.
Una base gruesa fabricada con hule espuma tiene la importante tarea de proteger la Seasonic X-1250 contra cualquier percance que pueda ocurrir durante su manejo.
Aparte de la base de hule espuma, la Seasonic X-1250 esta guardada en una bolsa negra de terciopelo que tiene grabado el logotipo de Seasonic en dorado. Esta pequeña bolsa asegura que la fuente de poder llegue al usuario final libre de rayones y polvo.
Las unidades con capacidades mayores a 1000W suelen venir en tamaños más grandes por los componentes internos adicionales que conforman su fabricación.
Por lo mismo la Seasonic X-1250 mide 190mm de largo, 150mm de ancho y 86mm de alto. El cuerpo tiene un acabado negro mate con acentos dorados. La ventilación de la unidad es apoyada por un ventilador de 120mm en la parte inferior.
En uno de los lados, se puede apreciar el logotipo de Seasonic y otro de la Serie X en tonos dorados.
En el lado opuesto, encontramos una etiqueta grande que nos especifica los detalles técnicos de la Seasonic X-1250W.
La Seasonic X-1250W es una unidad completamente modular por lo tanto tiene un panel donde se ubican todos los conectores modulares para conectar los cables. Estos conectores están ordenados en filas. Cada uno tiene su señalamiento respectivo para que el usuario sepa cual cable va en cual conector. Por último, vemos un interruptor para elegir el modo de control de ventilador.
A través del interruptor, el usuario puede elegir entre el modo S2FC o el modo S3FC. El modo S2FC mantiene el ventilador en operación todo el tiempo mientras el modo S3FC mantiene el ventilador apagado hasta que la carga sobrepase cierto porcentaje de la capacidad de la fuente de poder.
A esta nueva característica, Seasonic le ha denominado “Hysteresis” que consiste en un circuito integrado que controla con qué frecuencia se prende y se apaga el ventilador. Asumiendo que la unidad se encuentre en un entorno con una temperatura ambiental de 25°C, el ventilador se prende cuando la carga sobrepasa el 30% de la capacidad de la unidad y se apaga cuando la carga disminuye abajo del 20%. De esta manera, el ventilador se prende y se apaga con menor frecuencia que da resultado una reducción de la pérdida de potencia en el modo sin ventilador o modo silencioso.
Seasonic favorece el uso del diseño en forma de panal en su panel trasero de sus unidades porque brinda mayor eficiencia de ventilación y a la vez menor nivel de ruido. El interruptor de encendido y apagado tiene un tamaño grande para facilitar su uso.
Una vez abierta la unidad, podemos apreciar el modelo del ventilador de 120mm. En esta fuente de poder en particular, Seasonic implementa un ventilador Sanyo Denki San Ace que es muy conocido por su alta calidad, confiabilidad y flujo de aire.
El ventilador con modelo 9S1212h503 utiliza rodamientos de bolas y consta de siete aspas para mover una cantidad grande de aire para enfriar los componentes internos de la unidad.
Seasonic ha elegido utilizar su plataforma insignia XP3 para la X-1250W. Y como siempre podemos observar componentes de alta calidad en su manufactura. La disposición de los componentes esta ordenada y el trabajo de soldadura es impecable.
La Seasonic X-1250 utiliza nada menos que tres capacitores japoneses primarios de alta confiabilidad. Al acercarnos a ellos, descubrimos que provienen de la marca Hitachi y están certificados a 390uF, 420V y 105C.
La parte secundaria está dotada de capacitores electrolitos y capacitores polímeros que son de Nippon Chemi-Con.
Los disipadores de calor están dispersos a través de la unidad. Se encargan de enfriar los diferentes áreas y componentes como los FETS, rectificadores, controladores.
Metodología De Pruebas

Esto nos permite tener una idea acerca de las fluctuaciones de cada riel. Se medirán los voltajes con el equipo de pruebas en reposo y cuando este en carga completa. Cada prueba se ejecuta durante un periodo de 10 minutos.
