Experience using a 3200 mAh battery for a Samsung Galaxy SII smartphone / Sandbox / Sudo Null IT News
Good day.
After reading the article “The experience of using a 3600 mAh battery for the HTC Sensation smartphone”, I also wanted to purchase a high-capacity battery for my Samsung Galaxy SII.
Without much hesitation, I bought it in the same store as the author of the article. Here. The purchase price at the time of writing is $98.95. For that money, you get an extended 3200mAh battery for the Galaxy S2 and two back covers. Normal, and with a stand, white or black to choose from. It is very strange that there were two of them, since this is not written anywhere on the site, only from the photographs of the goods one could guess what awaits us. It took three weeks for the parcel to be delivered to Minsk from Hong Kong.

And so she came. In standard packaging with pimply polyethylene inside.
Directly in the package were found two covers, one battery + instructions for the initial calibration of the battery in English.
Battery
The declared capacity of the manufacturer is 3200 mAh, the voltage is 3.7 V. The size of the battery is 2 times thicker than the standard one (which has a capacity of only 1650 mAh).
This capacity allows the Galaxy SII to work for about 5 days. An hour of music, an hour of surfing on wi-fi internet, a minimum of calls/sms per day. Experimentally, it was found that a full battery charge is enough for 23 hours of continuous music playback in headphones or 13 hours of continuous video playback with a resolution of 448×296, the sound is output to headphones.
Caps
As I said, there are two of them. One with a retractable iron stand, the second — the usual, without the bells and whistles. The back side of the covers is rough, no gloss, which is very cool. Does not store fingerprints. Both are plastic. The camera holes are great for picking up dust.
And there are covers for reinforced batteries and glossy ones, for example, my friend has one like this.
There were no problems closing the lids, but there were problems with the reverse procedure. To open it, you need to make more efforts than to remove the standard cover. And the hook on the new lids is a little less. The thickness of the phone with the new cover is 1.5 cm.
The folding piece of iron turned out to be a handy thing. Watching TV shows/YouTube with it is really convenient.
Terminals
It was easy for me to get used to the increased size of the smartphone, after a week of operation you generally stop noticing that something has changed. There are no problems with wearing either, the Galaxy S2 still fits in a jeans or jacket pocket. You don’t feel any discomfort.
Appearance certainly suffers. When I’m used to seeing my SII as thin and stylish, and then such a hump sticks out … But you have to sacrifice something for the sake of increased autonomy. Thin and capacious batteries have not yet been invented.
As for the expediency of acquiring a high-capacity battery, then everything is individual. If you are often away from outlets, then of course I recommend buying it, but if it’s not difficult for you to recharge your device once a day / two, and you rarely go somewhere, it’s not worth it.
Tested on Samsung Galaxy SII with Android 4.0.3. Firmware Omega ICSrus 15.0.1.
