ASUS and ROG Unveil Innovative Monitors at CES 2022
LAS VEGAS, USA, January 5, 2022 ASUS and ROG today during CES® 2022 announced its latest lineup of displays for gamers, creative professionals, mobile business users, work-from-home employees and remote students.
ROG continues to push the boundaries of display technology, and the new ROG gaming displays are in abundance at CES 2022. The ROG Swift OLED display range includes the 42-inch Swift OLED PG42UQ and the immersive 48-inch Swift OLED PG48UQ, the world’s first OLED gaming monitors to feature an anti-glare Micro-texture coating. ASUS, also known as AsusTek, was founded in Taiwan in 1989. They make a wide range of gaming monitors with different resolutions and refresh rates, and they also offer monitors aimed at content creators, including portable monitors. Their gaming monitors often offer great performance, and they’re reliable, but in terms of price for performance, they’re sometimes beat out by other brands.

While ASUS mainly focuses on gaming monitors, they have a few office-oriented monitors in their ProArt lineup, which mainly focus on color accuracy and photo editing, and the ASUS ProArt Display PA278CV is a great option.
It has the same 27-inch, 1440p screen as the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM, which is big enough to open two windows next to each other, and the text clarity is decent. The stand has outstanding ergonomics, providing a very wide swivel range and allowing you to rotate the screen into portrait mode. Its IPS panel also has wide viewing angles, so you can easily share your screen with someone else because the image remains consistent from the sides.If you’re a photo editor, you’ll be happy to know it has remarkable out-of-the-box accuracy, so you won’t have to get it calibrated, and images look life-like. It has a great selection of inputs, including a USB-C input that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and delivers up to 65 W of power, meaning you can charge your tablet or phone with it. There’s a similar monitor, the ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV, that costs less and doesn’t have this USB-C input, so if you aren’t going to take advantage of it, then consider this monitor as both are great for productivity.

It has the same 1440p resolution as the PG279QM, but the main difference is that it has a lower 170Hz refresh rate, which is what you can expect for something cheaper. It’s impressive for gaming, and its variable refresh rate (VRR) support works with both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards to reduce screen tearing. It’s also great for co-op gaming because it has wide viewing angles and good ergonomics.It has low input lag for a smooth and responsive gaming experience. Unlike some other ASUS monitors, the input lag doesn’t significantly increase at 60Hz, which is great if you want to use it for console gaming. It works well with the PS5 and Xbox Series X and even downscales a 4k @ 60Hz signal, which results in a sharper image than a native 1440p signal. If that’s something you’re interested in, then the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM is good. As expected for a low-cost display, it has a smaller screen size and lower resolution than the ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ, but it still has a higher 240Hz refresh rate that you can overclock to 280Hz, which means that you get a fast gaming experience. This monitor looks best with high-frame-rate games because it has a quick response time at its max refresh rate and low input lag. Even if the response time remains quick with 60Hz signals, the input lag increases at 60 fps, so you’ll notice a delay while gaming, which is a common problem with ASUS TUF Gaming monitors.Despite its budget price, it has a few extra gaming features like Shadow Boost to see opponents better in dark games, a virtual crosshair that your system won’t detect, and VRR support to reduce screen tearing. If you find the 25-inch screen too small, there’s a similar monitor, the ASUS VG279QM, which performs nearly the same and has a 27-inch screen size, so you can get whichever size you prefer.

If you’re just looking for a simple and cheap ASUS monitor, the ASUS VG246H is a good choice. Unlike the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM, it isn’t designed for gaming; instead, it’s more of a simple monitor for work purposes, like if you need something cheaper than the ASUS ProArt Display PA278CV. It has a 24-inch screen with a 1080p resolution, which may not seem like enough for multitasking, but it has decent text clarity and is a good choice if you need to buy two to put in a multi-monitor setup.
Like other ASUS monitors, it has outstanding ergonomics that make it easy to adjust.Although it doesn’t have many extra features, it has an sRGB mode that results in amazing accuracy, as colors don’t look oversaturated. It’s great if your work requires accurate colors and you don’t want to spend extra on calibrating the display. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support HDR, but that’s normal for a cheap display. While it doesn’t get bright enough to fight a ton of glare, it’s still a decent choice for well-lit rooms, as it has good reflection handling if you have a few lights around.
