This device cannot start (code 10) OS: Windows XP Game-Edition 1.1.1 RC3
LAPTOP: HP Compaq CQ61-423ER (on Intel PM45)
DEVICE: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (sound)

Everything worked fine on the seven, I did not try it on other wasps.
Installed GE 1.1.1, downloaded and installed the video driver, downloaded all other drivers via DRIVER CHECKER. After installing IDT_High_Definition_Audio For WinXP_Vista_Win7, the program asked for a reboot — it rebooted. After loading, the command line came out, where it tried to start in the tray or somewhere else (for the first time I encounter IDT), but it didn’t work — having written something, the line closed. Audio devices in control panel sound settings — not found.

Sound driver from Vista/Win7 can be installed on XP, but it won’t work (incompatible). Uninstall the 7 audio driver and download the XP driver for your audio.
