windows media center — Has anyone else in the UK noticed WMC EPG information being retired by Microsoft in early May 2021?
UPDATE (Later same day) Surprised (and a little embarrassed) to find my WMC guided data repopulating later in the day, in spite of the convincing MS-service cessation message, and a morning spent searching for info about it before posting the question below. I don’t think it’ll prove to be permananetly solved, so appreciate Tetsujin’s comment advice.
While Microsoft’s WMC EPG (Electronic Program Guide) service appears to have been switched off in the US some time ago (Jan 2020, according to MS), it only ceased working for me, under WIN7 and in the south of England, just this morning (May 12th 2021).
Has anyone else in the UK had the same experience, thereby confirming that this very likely is the official discontinuation in the UK, please? (Or might it just be a bug in my WMC?)
If the EPG has been discontinued in the UK, has anyone found a suitable replacement in the UK?
As always, advice appreciated. Thank you (in anticipation).
I use EPG Collector to download Freeview HD (DVB-T2) OTA EPG data. It can also upload this data directly into Windows Media Center.
I use Task Scheduler to run it twice a day (6:30am and 12:30pm). The latter one is to catch any last-minute changes to the evening schedule for that same day.

Vista media don’t Center EPG no data available from 01/01/13 all opinions?
Windows Media Center — EPG «no data available» of 01.01.2013
Can I update my Guide in Media Center — without any error, but almost all my channels will display «no data available» from the 01. 01.2013. Everything worked perfectly until now.
It seems to have been a cut-off time.
Indicates the end date of the Guide: 08.01.2013 18:59 but he also States date of end 01.01.2013 at 13:00.
I hope that Microsoft decided not to abandon the Windows 7 Media Center EPG support — this is the reason why I bought my pc in the first place.
After forcing an update of the guide to update now
Media Center Guide ‘no data available ‘.
I noticed that every now and then I see «No Data available» for some channels in the guide. Its random when it happens and what channels show it. The only way that I can’t bring back data is to go in the guide editor and make a small change and keep the guide. After recording, the guide is complete again. After a week or two, the same problem is back. Could be timed with the release of the automatic guide.
The channales than what is happening on are on my list dishnetwork.

The location on the external hard drive has been added to my library and everything seems fine and dandy, but I can’t see any files on the USB which is where everthing is strored.
Is this a bug or is it simply not taken any supported?
PS. the drive is connected on the computer and I disabled sleep to avoid all the problems that may relate to the reader not to wake from sleep.
Make sure that the external hard drive is NTFS format.

Can I reformat a computer with vista media center edition on it and then perform a new installation of xp? I don’t like vista and want to go back to xp.
If you have an XP disk and license, you can go back to XP
but make sure that the manufacturer of your computer has XP drivers available for this model computer
If you have not an XP license try to buy one at a computer repair shop
you boot from the XP disc and format in this way:
to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start
It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu
Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

Vista Ultimate 64 Media Center Guide showing now «No Data available» on all THE TRACKS!
At Microsoft, Please will someone give me a solution to this? I see other users having the same problems, but none of the solutions have worked on my system.
Problem: The guide in my Vista Ultimate 64 Media Center went to the indication «No Data available» on two large local stations to show on all THE stations, making it unusable guide and the Media Center unprogrammable.
The Media Center and the Guide were great features and additions to my ATSC OTA television until mid-June, when this two station (and their substrings) launches it first stood. Now it’s total.
I downloaded both MCETVPack Windows6. 0-KB966315-x 64.msu and Windows6. 0-KB967632-x 64.msu , but the TWO open a dialog box reading «this update does not apply to your system.»
I tried to configure my TV options in Media Center repeatedly, but this does not change a thing.
Please give me a solution that works with my system.
Hi John Pendleton.
Please check that the updates of windows are installed on the computer, including service packs.
I would like for you to try the following steps as well:
Go to the media guide and select the channel that you have a problem with.
Make sure that you can recover the programs before performing this procedure, because if you cannot receive the programs you won’t have the registration guide either.
Open the Program Guide and navigate the Canal problem. Right click on the channel of the problem and choose settings. Then click TV, click Guide, and then add announces to the channel, click the channel of problem and change to one of the channels below the list (for example, 4Music).
Click Save button. Now click on the channel you selected (for example 4Music) and repeat the procedure but cela suite scroll delay to find the channel of problem.
Click on save and go on the media guide and registration should now appear. If this is successful, you will need to perform this procedure for the other channels as well. Check if the guide works correctly. Let us know the results in your response.
I hope this information is useful.

Windows Media Center EPG does not have the correct data
Windows Media Center EPG on my computer is so ugly!
Description is separated in two, and it’s always the last part that displays first, so you’ll have to roll down to the bottom to read the description.
The series is difficult to use, because the series 1) is not always marked as series (so you can select ‘plain’ Record), and 2) the title contains often series of numbering (e. g. «the bodyguards (1:6)»), so even if it is marked as a series, it will record ever «Guards body (2:6)» or other titles (the Media Center will just try to record any episode of «Bodyguards (1:6)»).
It is the broadcaster who create * data, and then displays in Media Center via Broadcasting Dataservices Ltd., or who are the last to blame?
What is MS Media Center that does not have the correct data?
I am in Denmark, if this has an impact on the response.
Thank you and best regards!
Thank you for your response. I appreciate your time.

Windows vista Media Center will not download the latest options for my region. It is under the TV signal, TV download
configuration options. When I finally get through all the steps I get only 1 station with a signal strong enough. I was able to get much more than that in the past.
I suggest you to follow the steps in this link and check if it helps:

«No data available» Media Center Guide
4 February 20114 Hi, I’m in London, I have two machines Vista Home Premium and a Windows 7 computer. I use a tuner TV USB Hauppauge on each of them. Everything worked well until the middle of December 2013. After updating the Guide two Vista machines now show «No data available» for some of the channels including BBC1, ITV, channel 5 and many others. I can receive the channels but not see their guide ads. The EPG Hauppauge also works fine on Vista machines. The Windows 7 machine is not affected and displays complete information.
I see this fault happened in January 2013, and it was a result of Microsoft to not renew their contract with Red Bee. I visited Red Bee (they are close to me) but they don’t know about this topic and say that they do not have a contract for the end user of Microsoft verification.
I have tried everything I can think of including Windows Vista Factory reload, change of postal code, change the transmitter and c and nothing seems to work. I lost days trying to find an answer to this, and he sends me nuts!.
Please someone knows how to fix this?
You are welcome. Sorry for the bad link.
You can also try the settings /’ add lists to

Why Windows Vista Media Center Program Guide stopped working
I’ve been using Windows Vista Media Center as my main way to watch and record the TV, music, and Photos for a few years (shortly after Windows Vista came out).
Since January 1, 2013, the program guide showed no data.
I believe that this is because the Microsoft agreement with the broadcasting of the Data Services to the United Kingdom is exhausted.
What is Microsoft doing about this?
Can what steps I take to restore my Media Center if you work?
Hello Nikki Locke,
That’s great, that you have found a solution. However, you can view the following information.
Please see the thread below because there was a problem with the program guide in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It must be corrected. If not, let us know.
Check also that all your Windows updates are up-to-date.
Vista Media Center crashes when you watch live TV
I have Windows Vista Ulitmate w / sp1 is installed. I use a Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150 mce card (which works fine on my Windows XP startup). Yet whenever I start Live tv in media center it can run for a second or even a minimum (if I’m not looking to change the channel) and then blue screen, which is too fast to see coups. I tried to reinstall the card and with or without the software driver. Here is a report of the Event Viewer error. Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks for posting on answers.microsoft.com community forum.
An event that I did research I found this instance occurred on another system, and this is what has been the instance;
Whenever you select live TV in Windows Media Center, it is as he tries to access the TV tuner card, but it times out. I have the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR150, Media Center Kit for the PCI slot. When she finally leaves tries to display the TV it says «Decoder error» and «video decoder is either defective or is not installed. » Restart the computer or Windows Media Center. «
Because your system is not allowing the error before the reading of the reboot of the system.
We download the Vista decoder for and then try it to run your process again.
Here’s a general link for set-top boxes, however, you can go to the website of cards and looking for the decoder from here or try a search online because it is decoder Vista. Don’t forget no decoders are not usually created by Microsoft, and we can not guarantee the results of third party downloads or the stability of your system after such a transfer, so be careful when downloading from other sites.
Please let us know if there are any necessary information or if that solves the problem.
Thanks again for posting on our forum.

Media Center «new configuration data TV could not be downloaded.
When initially implemented in Vista Media Center worked perfectly, then after about 3 months or so he left the information download guide. I couldn’t find a solution at this time. Then I udated for Windows 7. Now, he will even not be passed the original installation of the region. Comes back with the error «Failed to download» new TV configuration data could not be downloaded. Existing data, if any, will be used as you continue through Setup TV signal. That would be perfect, but there is no data available. Have you tried a lot a lot of difficulties on this and other sites, nothing seems to work. Really frustrated. Help, please.
If you have double NAT. I don’t know why you’re using TWO routers.
Here’s what to try:
start by writing down all of the current settings in the router DLink for SSID
name, password for wifi and the admin password security.
1. unplug the cable modem. Shut down all computers.
2. unplug the USR8004 and remove it from your network
3. disconnect the DLink router and then plug this DLink WAN port in the
cable modem. Plug any computers wired on the on the DLink LAN ports
4. plug the DLink router and make a DLink router factory reset. I think
There is a hole reset at the back where the ports are, use a folded paper
5. when the router comes back to the top (you’ll know by the lights), turn on a wired
computer and you connect and configure the wireless, exactly as you had before and
reset the admin password on what you did.
6. the router should reboot. When that happens, reconnect the cable modem
7. with the computer cable that is already in place, check the connectivity
8. turn the touchsmart and nothing else
This should solve the double NAT problem.

Qosmio G50 — cannot install the FM Tuner in Windows Vista Media Center?
Can someone help me get the most out of Windows Vista media center with my new Qosmio G50.
There is a tuner inside this laptop and I have the antenna and its plugged in. The drivers all seem to be installed but WMC tells me that I don’t have the hardware to run FM stations and I can’t make it work. Also, I can’t record library but although I can’t watch TV no problem at all.
Someone out there have the answer?
Are you sure that your equipped G50 FM tuner to 100%?
As I know a few models of G50 has been equipped with a tuner TV with antenna TV port that allows to connect a coaxial cable to this port to watch a TV program and then save.
But as I said earlier, this feature is not included with all models of G50.
Sorry, but I didn’t find any info regarding the FM tuner.
e-Manuals Program (EPG) for updating Media Center
Electronic Program Guide (EPG) for Windows Media Center is a menu-based system, providing regularly updated menus for broadcast programming and scheduling information. EPG is updated on July 7, 2015 with new video data packages compatible with new data providers, for customers in the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. While every effort has been made to ensure this transition is smooth, users may see differences in their EPG experience including the following :
The channel mapping list can be changed with the new package required to go through the TV setup to download the new lineup.
Some lineups may no longer be available in the new package.
Depending on your location, some feeds do not have metadata in the guide. This is presented as «no data available» in the manual, however this channel can be configured and monitored.
The currently scheduled one-time entries need to be reset. They will work as expected Looking ahead.
Some series will stop recording showing while this series will continue to show in the list of recordings. Requires «stop» recording the series and set the recording again. This can result in duplicate recordings of the gear cycle being displayed next to each other; an instance of the series for existing episodes already recorded and an instance of the series for new entries starting. Both will work properly.

We are removing channel data for channels that are no longer available in affected countries.
We update other channel data in each vulnerable country.

A client with a scheduler should take the following steps to save an existing recording schedule:
Users must view and reset the currently one-time recording schedule to display updated data.
Entries assigned to certain channels at certain times need to be reset according to any updated channel numbers.
To ensure that they continue to record properly, the records scheduled for the various programs must be viewed.
Some series may stop recording even if that series will continue to show in the list of records.
