The French magazine published the first full tests of the new desktop CPU AMD Ryzen

Volodymyr Skripin

Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Head of News

Our French colleagues at Canard PC Hardware publish in a new issue of the magazine the results of their own performance tests of new AMD desktop processors related to the as yet unofficial second generation Ryzen. Photos of the magazine pages with summary results in gaming and synthetic applications were published by one of the users of the popular Reddit forum, VideoCardz reports.

PR-management course for those who are all together.

Head of Corporate Communications of Kyivstar to share knowledge and secrets of success.

I want to go to the course

First, let’s recall that the new CPUs differ from the existing ones in higher frequencies, a thinner manufacturing process (12 nm) and support for faster DDR4-2933 memory. Now to the tests.

So, according to the results of testing in imaging and video packages, the new AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor, which includes eight Zen + multi-threaded cores and a frequency of 3.7 to 4.35 GHz, showed the best result. The result of the novelty turned out to be better than not only the current flagship for the AM4 platform in the face of the Ryzen 7 1800X, but also the head of the Intel Coffee Lake-S family in the face of the Core i7-8700K. The result of Ryzen 5 2600 was at the level of Ryzen 5 1600X, and the performance of Ryzen 5 2600X was slightly lower than Ryzen 7 1700. Note that testing with image rendering always fully reveals the potential of the processor architecture, in this case, testing was carried out using Mathematica, PovRay, Blender, 3DSMax and Corona.

The next test is to test AMD Ryzen 2 in games. GTA5, GRID Autosport, Battlefield 4, ARMA 3, X3:TC, Witcher 3 and COh3 games were used for testing. Games are rarely optimized for multi-threading, so here in the kings is the one with higher clock speeds. It’s not surprising that the Ryzen 7 2700X loses out to the higher-clocked competing Intel Core i7-8700K and Core i7-7700K models, but thanks to higher frequencies, it outperforms all current models — compared to the Ryzen 7 1800X, the superiority is 4%. Further, all hope for overclocking, although given that the top frequency of the Ryzen 7 2700X reaches 4.3 GHz, there is hardly a large margin here.
