              Why are Russian processors better?

              Elbrus processors are designed primarily for the consumer, whose main priority is information security. This primarily applies to state institutions and the defense sector. It is not correct to compare Elbrus with AMD, Intel and other processors. Let’s understand why?

              Russian Elbrus processors have the most important criteria by which they outperform AMD and Intel processors.
              Let’s start with the fact that the architecture and command system of the Elbrus processor is a completely Russian development. Often, when talking about these processors, they evaluate them only by performance, and do not consider other important criteria at all. Referring to past comparison tests with outdated processors, for example with one such as the Intel Core i7 2600.

              At the same time, without thinking at all that they have a completely different purpose, and they were not developed for playing World of Tanks. Or they argue their conclusions by the fact that even Sberbank refused to use servers based on Elbrus due to their insufficient performance.

              And yes, there is no doubt that Elbrus performance is extremely low, even compared to the outdated Intel Core i7 2600. AMD and Intel?

              To answer this question, you need to remember what the main requirement is for computing systems that serve the government and defense sectors. This requirement will be information security.

              AMD and Intel: security holes

              What kind of information security can computer systems based on AMD and Intel processors have? In fact, none. If at the stage of their design and production, companies can freely make hardware bookmarks for any purpose. And after the distribution of these processors around the world, covertly collect the necessary data. A bookmark is a hardware tool hidden in the processor, with the help of which interested parties can access confidential data or remotely control a computer.

              In addition, AMD and Intel processors also have a large number of hardware vulnerabilities introduced unintentionally, in this regard they are full of holes like a sieve.

              AMD and Intel recognize the existence of unintentional vulnerabilities in their processors, and regularly publish reports about this.

              But this is a server segment, where information security is the holy of holies. And how safe can they be used in the defense sector? But this is the security of our state.

              Elbrus: advantages of processors

              In the Elbrus processors, despite the fact that they are produced at the production facilities of another state, the Taiwanese company TSMC, the probability of introducing «bookmarks» tends to zero. Since TSMC is not provided with all documentation for the processor, only the photomask is provided. And it is impossible to determine from a photomask and from its documentation how billions of transistors interact with each other. And without understanding this, it will not be possible to develop and implement any bookmark into the processor. In addition, Elbrus uses “secure computing” technology to detect errors in software that can be used as vulnerabilities. Hardware protection of the processor detects such errors and blocks the possibility of their execution. Also, high information security is ensured by the protected Russian operating system «Alt 8SP» used to work with Elbrus and the architecture of E2K processors, whose roots go back to the USSR.

              The main difference between the E2K architecture and others is that the parallelization of threads in it is carried out by a software compiler, which does this much more efficiently than hardware compilers of other architectures. This architecture also supports Windows, though only in emulation mode, converting codes on the fly and losing up to 30% of performance.

              Thus, the computing systems built on Elbrus processors have every legitimate reason to become the most reliable information security systems. And the decision to choose systems on Elbrus or on AMD and Intel should depend on what criteria the user has in priority, overall performance or information security.

              It’s no secret that in terms of technology they are significantly inferior to other processors. Yes, in some way this is true, the manufacturing process by which the promising Elbrus-16C processor will be produced will be only 16 nm, and the manufacturing process of the previous version of Elbrus-8C is 28 nm, which is far from up to 7nm AMD Ryzen processors. But even this drawback, under certain circumstances, for example, when the processor is operating in conditions of ionizing radiation, which is quite typical for the defense industry, turns out to be an advantage. The fact is that the smaller the physical dimensions of the processor transistors, the fewer atoms of matter in them, and the faster their atomic lattice is destroyed under the influence of radiation. Conversely, larger transistors will be destroyed more slowly, and the overall operation of the processor under the influence of radiation will be longer.

              By the way, the British bourgeoisie has already written more than once that the Russian Elbrus processor should not be underestimated, and in the future, it has every prospect of competing with American processors from Intel and AMD.

              It is worth recalling that not so long ago, electronics manufacturers Lenovo, HP and Acer were invited to release laptops on Russian processors as part of an experiment. The release of computers on Russian processors Baikal-M for retail customers will be handled by iRU. The performance of the new computing technology is comparable to the budget versions of HP or Lenovo computers on Intel processors. True, at the same time, Russian options will cost 15-20% more expensive with comparable characteristics.

                    Hello. Today we will think with you about what is still better than Intel or AMD . I’ll probably start with the fact that our stationary computers, laptops, netbooks are built on one of these technologies, Intel or AMD . That is, they work on processors manufactured by the company Intel or AMD . These two big companies can be said to make the weather in the world of computer technology. I think you understand what I mean. Before buying a computer, everyone probably thinks about which platform to choose, what will be more adequate for the price and how this will affect the quality and duration of the computer.                     Intel is better than AMD

                    In the first case, I want to tell you what is good about Intel processors and why they are. Well, Intel is the undisputed leader in the computer field, someone may disagree with me, but it still seems to me that this is so. For example, a dedicated server hosting company uses Intel processors in its servers. First, I will write those pros and cons that are already taken into account when choosing processors from Intel and AMD.

                    Pros

                    • Intel sets the standards and this is more true than not
                    • Intel processors work more stable and much longer
                    • These processors have lower heat dissipation (they heat up less)
                    • Work faster than AMD processors, even at a lower frequency.

                    Cons

                    • Intel processors are about 20% more expensive than AMD
                    • Lose to AMD processors in games and when working with graphics.

                    AMD is better than Intel

                    Of course AMD processors have their advantages and disadvantages. In general, it is customary to think that AMD is worse than Intel , but many will not agree with this, and rightly so. Now point by point:

                    Pros

                    • Price , they are cheaper than Intel and are a good way to save money when buying a computer. This is the biggest plus.

                    Cons

                    • Break more often and heat up more
                    • Work slower than similar Intel processors (questionable).
