AMD Opteron 6272 Processor Overview
AMD’s Opteron 6272 processor based on the Interlagos core architecture is designed for server organizations. The release of the processor took place on November 14, 2011.
Frequency of 2100 megahertz is quite enough for the most important tasks assigned to servers. And the new auto-overclocking technology will provide the maximum power of the processor by significantly increasing the clock frequency from 2100 to 3000 MHz.
The processor is designed for motherboards based on Socket G34 sockets. The system bus speed will be 3200 MHz 16-bit HyperTransport (6.4 GT/s). The process technology is 32 nanometers — the total number of transistors is 2400 million. The maximum temperature threshold for processor cores under heavy load will be 69degrees. This processor will need advanced cooling as the TDP goes up to 115W.
Good server processor in 2011. It is used for organizing hosting.
Competitors and analogues
On the Socket G34 socket, AMD models should be noted among the rivals: Opteron 6378 based on the Abu Dhabi architecture, a slightly more modern model of the Opteron 6386 SE processor, model 6380 from the Opteron processor series, Opteron 6344 manufactured in 2012, Opteron 6287 SE from 2011, model 6376 Socket G34 from the Opteron processor series. Of the competitors from Intel, it is worth noting the Xeon E3-1290 2011 release, X5687 LGA1366 model among the Xeon X processor line, model 2630L on the LGA2011 socket from the Xeon E5 family, Xeon E3-1280 on the Sandy Bridge architecture, v3 LGA1150 model from the Xeon E3 family, and this list also includes the Xeon E5 -2430L based on Sandy Bridge-EN architecture.
