The TV box is relatively easy to disassemble, despite the fact that there are no bolts. For disassembly, you need to pry something at the junction of the parts. Everything is held in place by snaps.

The first switch on took about half a minute. During this, the operation of the cooler was clearly audible. Noise can even be compared with a stationary PC, since it was only short-lived. The very first turning on of the system takes about 10-15 minutes, after which we are greeted by the standard Windows 10 desktop. And although during the initial setup, Russian was selected as the main one in the list of languages, but the system was in English.
For Russian, it was necessary to download the appropriate language pack. True, I had to tinker with it a little — it did not swing through the settings. The problem was that the Windows update services were initially turned off (which, for example, I do almost immediately), but after turning them on, the language pack also began to download. Installing the language, by the way, took a long time — 20 minutes.

Also, do not forget about the possibility of using external memory up to 128GB. Speaking about this, by the way, it is worth mentioning the possible inconveniences — the box has only 1 USB 3.0 connector, and two MicroUSB, one of which will initially be occupied by power. So with the bundled OTG, only two USBs will be available. But just for the comfortable use of the box, namely the keyboard, mouse, you need two connectors. And in this case, it will not work to expand the memory. Fortunately, in such a situation, a regular USB hub will help well. Although the design will be quite menacing 🙂

Hardware platform.
The Intel X5-Z8350 is built on the Airmont architecture, which has significantly improved power efficiency and overall performance compared to the previous generation Silvermont. Together with the 8350 model, the Z8500 was also announced, the differences between which are mainly in the clock frequency of both processors — the first operates at a frequency of 1.44-1.92 GHz, and the second at 1.44 to 2.24 GHz (in Burst mode). So their performance differences are relatively small and amount to no more than 10-15%. But speaking of performance, this SoC is not suitable for complex tasks, and is more intended for ordinary surfing the Internet and performing simple tasks in the same offices, etc. In terms of performance, it can be compared with the Snapdragon 800 and 801, which, as many people know, have not been able to boast of anything for a long time. This «TV box» does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi, which is already indicated in the specifications on the store page. But I didn’t notice any problems with working at 2.4GHz — Wi-Fi connects quickly and for the entire time of use there was not a single problem with it: there were no drawdowns / similar glitches. Unless, my tariff plan is 100Mbps, and the box is fixed at 72Mbps. The difference is small, so it does not play a special role. I think everyone knows this game. Since the system is far from intended for games, I decided to try just such an undemanding, for 2017, game. At the first start, the minimum resolution of 640×480 was automatically selected. Naturally, I changed to FHD.
