Moving on to the next point of difference, weight. Everything is simple here: less mass — less inertia, so a lighter mouse is always preferable. True, heavy mice are easier to control, so beginners often do not like models lighter than 90-100 grams: at first they are harder to handle.

Wired or wireless? Now the answer is already unambiguous — it is better to abandon the cables: they interfere and limit freedom of movement. There is nothing to be afraid of: modern wireless technologies are able to provide the required response speed and connection stability — there will be no significant difference compared to the wired model (we do not take into account possible interference). There is no point in worrying about charging either: until the battery wears out, you will have to connect to USB no more than a couple of times a month, and the process itself takes an hour at most. Another issue is the price: wireless models are always significantly more expensive due to the battery and radio modules, which at the same time add extra weight to the mouse. Manufacturers have to come up with ways to reduce the overall weight of the device, which means additional investment in development at the design stage, and therefore a higher retail price.

And the last thing you need to decide is the sensor. If we consider only those mice that will be discussed below, then there is no need to focus on this point: all models from our list have good and reliable optics. Let’s start with more or less affordable models. Logitech G305 Lightspeed is a wireless mouse based on the Logitech Hero optical sensor. In terms of performance, it is not inferior to the top sensor Pixart 3366 with much greater energy efficiency. If we operate with exact numbers, the following comes out: with one AA battery (namely, the G305 is powered by this), the mouse works up to 250 hours in the game, and if you put it in power-saving mode, it can last up to six months. The only problem is weight: the weight of the G305 with the supplied alkaline battery reaches 98 g. However, no one bothers to switch from alkaline to lithium — then the weight will drop to 89 g. In terms of shape, the mouse is very simple: all lines of the body are gentle, without special ergonomic recesses — the G305 looks a bit like a bar of soap. There really is something in common, but only if you try to hold the mouse with your palm: for this, it fits with a stretch. But with a finger grip or a “claw” there are no difficulties: the G305 fits comfortably in my 18.5 cm hand, it should be the same with smaller hands. But in the palms of a larger mouse, most likely, it will not sit normally: the sides will seem too narrow.
