Knowing where to buy RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti video cards for MSRP at the end of September isn’t as challenging as it was at the beginning of the year. With the RTX 40 series now being formally unveiled, with no RTX 4070 to speak of yet, the mid-range Ampere card will co-exist alongside Ada Lovelace until next year.

You can find the RTX 3070 available for its actual retail price of $499.99 right now. Currently, your options at Amazon include the Zotac Gaming RTX 3070 Twin Edge OC and PNY RTX 3070 Uprising for MSRP. It’s currently not known how long these discounts will persist, so slow and steady doesn’t win this race. What’s more, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Founder’s Edition is available at Best Buy for $599.99

We’ve had an RTX 3070 Ti in one of our gaming setups for a while, and it’s easily one of the best graphics cards on the market for the money. It’s definitely worth seeking one out if you’re interested in 1440p and 4K even two years after release. If you’re wanting to build or upgrade your machine into one of the best gaming PCs that you can, either of these GPUs will see you through.

RTX 3070 price

Nvidia RTX 3070 was launched with an MSRP of $499 and an RRP of £469. It offers very capable performance for its price tag, with its 5,888 CUDA cores and 8GB VRAM clocked at 1.73GHz. There’s little debate that both the RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti are extremely powerful GPUs for Full HD, 1440p with little to no compromises, as well as decent 4K performance.

Keep that in mind when weighing up your options as far as getting the standalone card goes, and only buy from trusted, reputable brands if you are going to invest in one at a little extra than anticipated.

If you’re interested in the fast-track approach to an RTX 3070 or RTX 3070 Ti GPU then the best advice we can offer right now to avoid splashing out necessarily is to aim for the RTX 3070 laptop deals or RTX 3070 PC deals to circumvent the spiking graphics card market at the moment.

RTX 3070 Ti Stock Tracker — Where to Buy the Latest GPU

Nvidia’s new Ti model, the RTX 3070 Ti, is the latest Ampere GPU to try to bridge the gap between power and affordability. With an MSRP of $599, it’s supposed to be a step closer to the RTX 3080 in terms of power without costing as much, although some partner cards are charging customers as much as $1,000.

Almost double MSRP is eBay levels of markup, and while there are $599 cards out there, stock on the best graphics cards is so low across the board that you’d be lucky to find any RTX 3070 Ti cards, let alone an affordable one.

With that in mind, we’ve prepared this guide to help you grab an RTX 3070 Ti from official sources. As of publishing, we’ve actually had some luck finding stock…assuming you live in Europe.

US RTX 3070 Ti retailers: Amazon | B&H | Best Buy | Gamestop | Micro Center | Newegg | Nvidia

UK RTX 3080 retailers: Amazon UK | eBuyer | Overclockers | Scan

As of publishing time, some sites still don’t even have RTX 3070 Ti listings up. Amazon and B&H are the big culprits here, although Amazon does have a few overpriced third party seller listings up. Best Buy and Newegg do have cards listed, but Best Buy says it’s sold out and Newegg says it’s out of stock (aside from what you can find in the Newegg Shuffle or from third party sellers). Micro Center does have in-store availability, but stock will depend on your location.

Amazon hasn’t built a landing page for the RTX 3070 Ti yet. A search for the card also only reveals scalped RTX 3070 and 3060 cards.

RTX 3080 Ti deals at B&H
B&H has two RTX 3070 Ti models up on its site, starting at $849 and going up to $999. They’re out of stock, of course.

RTX 3070 Ti deals at Best Buy
Best Buy has 8 RTX 3070 Ti models listed on its site, starting from the $599 Founder’s Edition and ranging in price up to a $1,019 model from PNY. All are sold out.

RTX 3070 Ti deals at Newegg
As usual, Newegg has the widest selection of cards, but they’re all out of stock. Keep an eye out for future Newegg Shuffles , since while your chances are small, they’re also probably your best bet to actually get one of these cards.

Electronics Manufacturing & Development *Video Cards

According to Videocardz, the RTX 3090 Ti graphics cards will go on sale on January 27th. On December 17, NVIDIA may introduce the 16GB RTX 3070 Ti.

NVIDIA announces embargo dates in advance to its partners. The documents include all dates related to the forthcoming product, such as «product announcement», «sample review» or «shelf date». In the first white paper on the RTX 3090 Ti from NVIDIA, only the shelf release dates are listed, which is January 27th.

The portal reports that on December 17, NVIDIA will announce its RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB graphics card. It will be released January 11th. The card is said to have the same number of CUDA cores as the 8GB model and the same clock speeds. In this case, we mean a full-fledged GA104 graphics processor (more precisely, GA104-401) with 6144 cores.

Note that the RTX 3090 Ti will go on sale at the same time as the RTX 3050.

Users note that with the current prices of video cards, it is easier to wait until their shortage is over, since devices with average characteristics are sold at a price comparable to the cost of a powerful graphics card.

In May this year, the GeForce RTX 30 in the European market was three times the recommended price. The most expensive of them was the GeForce RTX 3090 card, whose cost rose to $3.7 thousand (with a recommended $1.4 thousand). In June, the Chinese company Colorful introduced the iGame GeForce RTX 309 video card0 KUDAN. It was released in a limited edition of a thousand pieces and was sold for $4.9 thousand. That same month, NVIDIA unveiled the RTX 3080 Ti (for $1,200) and the 3070 Ti ($599). The company claimed a 1.5x performance increase over the previous generation RTX 2080 Ti. The new graphics card is close to the RTX 3090 in terms of performance, but with half the amount of video memory.

On July 20, the American network Best Buy began selling scarce GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080 Ti, RTX 3080, RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards. However, the buyer had to take a live queue and receive a card for the purchase, no more than one in one hand.

Recently, we got acquainted with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti video card announced at Computex 2021. Now let’s talk about the second new product — NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti .

The original RTX 3070 is based on the GA104-300 GPU, which includes 6 GPCs (Graphics Processing Cluster) with 8 SM modules each. However, two of them are disabled, resulting in 5888 CUDA cores, 184 texture units and tensor cores, 96 raster blocks and 46 RT cores.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti received the full version of GA104-400 with all 48 active SM modules. Its GPU includes 6144 CUDA cores, 192 texture units and tensor cores, 96 raster units and 48 RT cores. In addition to changes in the structure, the frequency formula of the GPU has also slightly increased — from 1500 / 1725 to 1575 / 1770 MHz for the base and dynamic frequencies, respectively.

Compared to the identical positioning model from the previous generation, namely the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, the new product received third-generation tensor cores and second-generation RT cores. This made it possible to significantly increase the peak performance of the former from 72 to 174 Tensor-TFLOPS, and of the latter from 24 to 42 RT-TFLOPS.

As a result, the characteristics of the older graphics cards of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 line are as follows:

An important change from the RTX 3070 is the switch from GDDR6 to GDDR6X memory with a higher effective clock speed. Throughput increased from 448 to 608 GB / s with an identical 256-bit bus.

Like the rest of the Ampere lineup, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti supports a number of useful technologies. We talked about them in more detail in the reviews of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and two NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 from ASUS and GIGABYTE.

Let’s briefly recall that NVIDIA Reflex reduces system latency and increases the speed of the character’s response to your commands. Fans of Valorant, Apex Legends, Fortnite and other popular shooters can already appreciate its advantages.

RTX enhances visual realism with real-time ray tracing effects. And if the video card cannot provide a sufficiently smooth frame rate at the given quality or resolution settings, then DLSS technology can be activated. Over 130 apps and games support RTX and/or DLSS.

The NVIDIA Broadcast suite of technologies is designed to make streaming easier. It makes it easy to add virtual chromakey or remove background noise for clear audio transmission.

And if you use a graphics card for work purposes, you can take advantage of the NVIDIA Studio platform with specialized drivers and unique tools.

The list of useful NVIDIA technologies does not end here, but it’s time to move on to getting acquainted with the video card itself using the example of GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GAMING OC .

Packaging and Contents

The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GAMING OC comes in a color printed cardboard box. On its sides, key design features and some technical characteristics of the video card are marked.

A list of system requirements for the computer you plan to install it on is located on the back of the package. Based on the recommendations, the power supply must have a power of at least 750 W and support two 8-pin PCIe connectors.

In the scope of delivery, we found only the standard documentation.

Appearance

GIGABYTE GV-N307TGAMING OC-8GD is clearly not suitable for fans of compact cases, because its length is 32 cm, and inside the case it will take almost three expansion slots. Such dimensions have recently become the norm for productive solutions that require powerful cooling.

The top casing of the cooler is made of plastic, partly stylized as brushed aluminum. In general, it looks stylish and restrained.

Company logo on the side with built-in RGB Fusion 2.0 lighting. Illumination can be synchronized with the operating mode of other compatible components thanks to proprietary software.

The reverse side of the video card is covered with a metal plate. It not only improves the design, but also increases the overall rigidity of the structure and protects the PCB from breaking under the weight of the massive cooling system. It also takes a passive part in heat dissipation.

The video card under test uses a PCI Express 4.0 x16 slot and two 8-pin PCIe connectors for power. The cooler does not make it difficult to disconnect the power cables due to the good location of the connectors.

The following set of interfaces is used for image output:

  • 2 x HDMI 2.1;
  • 2 x DisplayPort 1.4a.

The maximum resolution is 7680 x 4320.

Interestingly, we note the switch between two BIOS firmware: «OC» in «Silent». Testing was carried out in the «OC» mode, which is set by the manufacturer by default.

Manufacturer claims to use high quality internally certified Ultra Durable solid capacitors and chokes.

The video accelerator is based on the 8nm GPU GA104-400. Its base frequency is 1575 MHz, and the dynamic one is declared at the level of 1830 MHz.

The video memory is made up of Micron GDDR6X chips with a total capacity of 8 GB. They operate at a reference effective frequency of 19000 MHz. Data exchange between the graphics core and memory is carried out through a 256-bit bus, which is capable of passing 608 GB of information per second.

Cooling System

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GAMING OC graphics card with installed WINDFORCE 3X cooling system occupies almost three expansion slots and has a total length of 320mm.

The cooler consists of a large two-section radiator made of transverse fins and seven copper composite heat pipes with a diameter of 6 mm.

Memory chips and power subsystem elements are in contact with the copper base of the heatsink thanks to thermal pads.

The active part of the cooling system is represented by three fans with an original shape and blade diameters of 80 and 90 mm. They are distinguished by the Alternate Spinning technology: the central spinner rotates clockwise, and the extreme spinners counterclockwise. This reduces airflow turbulence and improves cooling efficiency.

Also available with 3D Active Fan technology. It pauses the turntables at low GPU load to reduce noise.

When automatically adjusting the speed of rotation of the fan blades, in the maximum load mode, the graphics core heated up to 68°C at a critical value of 93°C. The propellers worked at a speed of 2019/2149 rpm (80/83% of the maximum rate). The noise level was above average, but remained comfortable for everyday use.

In the maximum fan speed mode (about 2850 rpm), the GPU temperature dropped to 62°C. The noise has reached a high level and has become uncomfortable for continuous use.

Now let’s look at the behavior of the video card under real gaming load. First, we launched Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in Full HD. The temperature was 57°C with the speed of the turntables in 1642/1835 rpm (70/75% of the maximum rate). The core frequency has risen to 1980 MHz.

The transition to 4K brought temperatures up to 64°C. The speed of the cooling system fans has increased to 1808/1971 rpm (74/78% of the maximum rate). The core frequency remained at the same level.

In the absence of load, the frequencies of the graphics core and memory were automatically reduced, allowing to reduce power consumption and heat dissipation of the video accelerator as a whole. In this mode, the GPU temperature did not exceed 33°C.

In general, the WINDFORCE 3X cooling system does its job, but is not very quiet. This is especially worth considering for fans of manual overclocking: if you increase the frequency of the fans to the maximum level, then uncomfortable noise appears. But there were no extraneous noises in the form of a whistle of chokes during the test.
