Here I present collated results for a range of different systems for the
3Dmark06 benchmark, with the assistance of my friend John who’s
contributed further P55/X58/Z68-based results using some GPUs I don’t
have (eg. 4890). See after the tables for extended system details.

Data is grouped according to CPU/system, and subgrouped by graphics card
model. This is to make it easier to compare different configurations, eg.
when checking for bottlenecks. The group containing the highest overall
score for each CPU/GPU grouping is listed first. Other results are included
as people send them to me (CPU-Z/3dmark.com links required), credit list
after the tables. I might add an extra page later which just lists all the
results in order of overall score.

Note that when comparing results, a
strong CPU can mask a weak GPU, and vice versa; thus, don’t rely on only
the overall score, ie. compare the individual test fps data aswel.

John has two Radeon 4890s, two Palit GTX 460 1GB Sonic Platinums (800MHz
core), a GTX 550 Ti and a couple of 5850s. I have a range of different
GPUs, sometimes four of the same model so I can compare both SLI/CF and
RAM capacity issues, eg. 4x 8800GT (2x 512MB, 2x 1GB).
Note that I did earlier tests using an i7 860 system, but that’s now been
replaced with an i7 870 setup at a higher clock. I’ll remove the 860
results at some point.

John’s i7 2700K is running on an ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 with 16GB DDR3/1333.

John’s i7 860 system (Gigabyte P55M-UD2, Titan Fenrir, Xigmatek Asgard case):
1 x 4890, Score P10454, http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=2606819
2 x 4890, Score P13624, http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=2607129

2 x GTX 460 in SLI, CPU 2.8GHz: Score P26921. GPU score 23708, CPU score 45364.

Other notes:

In CPU descriptions, IB = IvyBridge, SB = SandyBridge, HW = Haswell.
Prior to running benchmarks, it’s a good idea to empty all temp files and
force all pending idle tasks to completion. Select Run from the Start menu, enter:

  %temp%

Press CTRL+A, then delete in the normal manner.

For the idle tasks, select Run and enter:

  Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks

And obviously, make sure other apps which might interfere are turned off,
eg. antivirus programs, web browsers, etc.

Abstract: Built on Intel’s 65 nanometer manufacturing process and with two physical processing cores running at 3.2 GHz each, backed up by 2MB of L2 cache, the socket 775 chip certainly makes quite a splash.

3DMark06 is
the worldwide standard in advanced 3D game performance benchmarking. A
fundamental tool for every company in the PC industry as well as PC users and
gamers, 3DMark06 uses advanced real-time 3D game workloads to measure PC
performance using a suite of DirectX 9 3D graphics tests, CPU tests, and 3D
feature tests. 3DMark06 tests include all new HDR/SM3.0 graphics tests, SM2.0
graphics tests, AI and physics driven single and multiple cores or processor CPU
tests and a collection of comprehensive feature tests to reliably measure next
generation gaming performance today.

3DMark06 test results for the Intel Pentium D 940 are
quite competitive, but then again 3DMark06 is mostly videocard limited.

3DMark 2006

You bought a video card from nVidia, and your friend bought a video card from ATI. You say that yours is the coolest, and he, what is his? Then 3DMark 2006 (Fig. 4.24) will help you — this is a program for calculating system performance when working with three-dimensional graphics. The more points the computer scores, the better. Clearly, if you have more points, then you win.

Very often, when choosing a video card, the question pops up: «Which one is faster and better?». The current computer market is simply replete with various offers from different manufacturers. This article will be useful to an ordinary person who does not want to read numerous reviews or does not have time to determine the best video card from the whole variety. This article will help many people decide which video card to buy — Radeon or GeForce.

When choosing a video card, you should also keep in mind the amount of video memory. In the article, this fact is almost not taken into account due to the small impact on overall performance. Of course, the more — the better, but in any case, it is preferable to take a card with a more powerful chip than with more memory. Video cards with a large amount of memory will be very useful for owners of large FullHD monitors and those who like to play at high screen resolutions.

3DMark06 for Windows — Tour-info

3dmark06 test

3DMark06 — the name «3DMark» already means the standard for testing 3D graphics, and good results and video in it systems as a whole. It should be noted the objectivity and accuracy of this tool in assessing the performance of video cards. And, most importantly, an easy-to-use interface. 3DMark includes four gaming tests, as well as tests of the processor, individual 3D components, and image quality. The processor test allows you to evaluate its role in typical 3D work. 3D component tests «isolate» the performance of key features, mostly related to shaders. A number of image quality tests help to understand how well the video card «gets along» with the drivers.

The key feature of the new 3DMark06 package is two graphics tests that will allow you to evaluate the video card’s capabilities to work with ShaderModel 3.0 and HDR (High Dynamic Range). Two more graphics tests (formerly called gaming tests) are based on shaders of the second version. All graphics tests are optimized to measure the performance of a video card, however, according to the developers, the role of the central processor will also increase, it is responsible for physics and AI calculations, so 3DMark06 has two processor tests.

3DMark06 has returned the ability to play that was in 3DMark 2001. The mini-game is based on CPU benchmarks and uses a proprietary engine written by Futuremark. In five minutes, you need to shoot as many cars as possible, for each of which 30 points are given. The game is only available to owners of the Advanced and Professional Editions.

In the basic version, you can only run basic tests, there is no way to change any parameters, use the built-in features for comparing the quality of screenshots, studying the effect of smoothing and filtering, and plotting.

Minimum system requirements: Intel or AMD compatible processor 2.5GHz, 1GB RAM, DirectX. All tests require graphics cards that support ShaderModel 2.0 or higher.

3dmark06 test

3DMark06 is a popular 3D benchmark for testing your computer’s speed and performance, especially in 3D graphics. Avid gamers who want to test the capabilities of their DirectX9 graphics card will especially like this program. For proper operation, the program requires a set of DirectX 9.0c libraries, a processor with a clock speed of at least 2.5 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, a video card with Pixel Shader 2.0 support with 256 MB of memory, and Windows XP. Some tests in the unregistered version of the program are inactive. To get the full functionality of the program, you need to purchase a license for the Pro version.

It is important to remember that the device you are about to test must have a DirectX 9.0c compatible video card in order to successfully start and run processes. When 3DMark06 runs the test, we can observe the FPS, that is, the number of frames per second. Then just press the «Esc» button to stop checking and go to the results. Here 3DMark06 lists the shortcomings of our computer compared to other systems. It is also possible to view test results online.

3dmark06 test

These benchmarks should not be used to test modern hardware

Benchmarks have a natural lifespan that ends when they no longer provide meaningful results on modern hardware. The benchmarks on this page are no longer supported by UL Solutions. They are available here for entertainment only. They may not work with current operating systems and the online services may have been retired. We recommend using the latest versions of 3DMark and PCMark to test modern hardware and devices.
