The woman needs to be here. A natural skinny and absolute beauty. There is a quote about Audrey’s Hollywood arrival. Along the lines of «When Audrey Hepburn arrived, everyone went one diet.»

I absolutely adore Audrey Hepburn, she’s like one of my favorite actresses, but i don’t think that she was a natural skinny. She had an eating disorder, that only few people know about. Still, she’s the greatest.

I believe she is not a ‘natural’ skinny as in born with it but because of her circumstances. I think she was placed in some kind of concentration camp and therefore, during her career afterwards, she was always smaller because of that traumatic experience. That, and she was also a ballet dancer ever since her youth.

Yeah, I think that’s true (and also that she was too tall to be a professional ballerina) but I also read/heard that she tried to make sure she maintained a slim figure.

Yes apparently she did have an eating disorder. But I don’t think that she starved any more than Victoria Beckham does — and they both are pretty healthy, at least they both have children, so I don’t know what heights should one aim if that is not enough!
But as I read in a magazine, she was the queen of discipline. She was always clean and tidy, there is not a picture of her where she would look bad, not even on a street or grocery shopping. She was never late — her mother, Russian ballet and film-making thought that. And her dress size never changed one bit — so said her life time dresser Givenchy.
I also read that usually for breakfast she had two hard boiled eggs, a toast and 3 or 4 cups of coffee with hot milk; for lunch it was either yoghurt and fresh vegetables or cottage cheese and fruit; for dinner: some steamed vegetables and fish or meat. She wouldn’t have desserts, but the best indulgence in the world she thought was a piece of a good chocolate cake. She had a weakness for chocolate, although she never let herself go. She is supposed to be a good cook too.
I love her elegance and will power — so inspiring!

I have heard that she had a lifelong eating disorder, wish I could find more on it.
Still- the woman was disciplined! It took her a week to start and finish a small chocolate bar. She baked brownies for friends and stage crew; cooked and ate pastas. Even shrank back to her dress after two pregnancies.
I strive for that disciplined

Actually, she suffered of malutrition during World War II when she was a child. Also, she was very active (she liked to garden and wanted to be a ballet dancer) and she actually loved eating (especially pasta), but she never ate too much.
I think she’s wonderful. Can you believe she had a 20″ waist?

Not a concentration camp, but she hid in a house in the country during WWII Nazi occupation of the Netherlands and there was little food delivered at that time because the Nazis blocked the ways.

I’ve recently developed an obsession with Audrey
Not only or particularly as thinspo, but in general. Wonderful actress, fashion inspiration and (maybe its just because I’m a bit OCD myself) — but I love how meticulous, punctual and perfect she was

I absolutely adore her and most movies she’s starring in.
A little rumour: She was actually a pretty chubby kid, loved chocolate and all. Then WWII came and she became malnourished. However when she was on a cruise to Rome in order to shoot Roman Holiday, she gained about 15 pounds putting her at a slim weight (I think 5’7» and 118 lbs, if I’m not mistaken) due to all the free food on the boat. The director was pretty angered and didn’t believe she could lose it because he had some weight issues too, but she did (in about two weeks) and then vowed to herself to never exceed 103 pounds.
And I just have to add some picture spam… :]

Monroe — a cute cold, just for the masses.
and Audrey Hepburn — well, there is something in her, although you can’t call her a classic beauty either. but the breed is there. nine0003

2222 Monroe luxury? Yes, she is a poor woman. But in principle, it is clear why she is still admired by the general masses. What is female beauty? These are not necessarily ideal facial features. What about talent? Monroe had talent? I think that’s why Hepburn is considered «one of the most», because with a completely not very outstanding appearance, she had a certain talent. The same can be said about Sophia Loren. After all, as you know, initially her appearance was not considered a standard. It became after she became famous. nine0003

people who write that Audrey is «at most cute», «ugly», okstites!! No, well, I understand that those who grew up on Megan Fox and Buzov have completely different concepts of beauty. But have you ever seen a movie with Audrey? The beauty of an actress is not only a face, it is also a talent, an overall image, posture, etc. Audrey is also insanely photogenic, I have not seen a single unsuccessful photo. nine0003

By the way, I will speak about Monroe (since she was remembered here). Whatever she was — bl.ya.dyna, hys.terich.ka, vul.gar.shchina, but she had a rather specific game, and not a single actress to this day has been able to repeat even remotely her languid manners, you.e. being in front of the camera and flirtatious.

The face of a little girl, and in her eyes sex. Plus, a pronounced female figure. She is the epitome of the type of innocent, depraved girl, from which the roof blows

Monroe is a cutesy simpleton. Audrey is the girl next door. Sophia Loren, yes, a beauty, but her husband filmed her. And there were better ones: Gina Lolobrigida, Michel Mercier, Grace Kelly, Silvana Pompanini, Romy Schneider. nine0003

A matter of taste, I guess. I don’t like her either, she’s cute at best. Sophia Loren, Aishwarya Rai are generally scary. My ideal is Marilyn Monroe, but for some she is a collective farmer. But all of them somehow went down in history as beauties. It’s just that they all had (have) special facial features that are different from ordinary women

Audrey Hepburn style.
Secrets of the make-up artist of the star. — Virginia Wertz School of Makeup
Secrets of beauty and the image of an actress from the make-up artist of the most beautiful woman of all time.
«Amazement that gives birth to inspiration.» This is how you can describe the emotions and impressions that evoke the so-called «Golden Age of Hollywood» — the period from the 30s to the 50s of the last century. The time when the stars of great women shone in the sky of cinema: Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot and many others. The time that gave the world classic style icons, whose images for many years remain the ideal for women, sex symbols for men, inspirational muses for designers, stylists and makeup artists. Women, each of which is unique, inimitable and beautiful in everything — from the style of clothing and makeup, to unsurpassed talent and an exciting life story. They were admired, imitated, idolized. Their style and image set new standards of beauty, changing the fashion trends of an entire era. nine0003
Against the backdrop of brilliant sexy Hollywood divas, embodying emphasized femininity and sex appeal, a star of a completely different “shape” suddenly lights up. And the world sees a tall, thin, dark-haired girl, with a soft oval and aristocratic features of a sweet face and huge, shining eyes of a doe. Audrey Hepburn became a new style icon — restrained, intelligent, sophisticated, whose feminine and soft image among men was considered the most stylish. Favorite muse of Hubert de Givenchy, an ideal for imitation of millions of women, adored by millions of men, a wonderful actress and woman — her style conquered the whole world, and throughout her life Audrey was faithful to him. nine0003
In 2004, Audrey Hepburn topped the list of the most beautiful women of all time. Of the hundred contenders, Audrey’s candidacy was supported by more than half of the participants in this vote, who considered her the embodiment of natural beauty.
Audrey Hepburn’s style is based on maximum naturalness. For example, she never changed her natural hair color, remaining a brunette (the only addition created by Hubert de Givenchy were slightly bleached bangs). The features of her face were so harmonious that they made it possible to «blind» absolutely any image. It is thanks to Audrey Hepburn that the term «babydoll face» becomes popular. nine0003
The main aspiration in make-up for the actress has always been minimalism and elegance. The basis of her image is gentle purity, beauty and innocence, a combination of classic style and sophistication. Perhaps that is why «makeup in the style of Audrey Hepburn» is still one of the most sought-after and relevant today, is popular among makeup artists and remains a favorite of many women.
What are the secrets of the beauty and attractiveness of the actress?
As it turned out, in the absence of such, in principle. nine0003
Audrey had only a few rules that she followed in her makeup and personal care.
“I’m not one of those who live by the rules,” she admitted to a Vogue journalist. I don’t need to sleep long to keep fresh. I love to walk, I spend a lot of time outdoors, I breathe oxygen … Eight to nine hours of sleep is enough for me to look good. If I sleep less, then sometimes I rest during the day. And if that doesn’t work, then it’s not a disaster. I am very calm and sober about myself. I do what I have to do, and everything else is not important. nine0003
In her daily life, the actress rarely and little used cosmetics. “I like to look natural,” she said, “because that suits me the most.”
However, «Audrey Hepburn-style makeup» is a few signature, recognizable and irreplaceable details of her image.
The elegant image of Audrey Hepburn in the movie «Breakfast at Tiffany’s» is familiar to every modern girl who is interested in fashion trends and a variety of styles. Photos and paintings of the actress are an elegant detail in the design of many stylish interiors, decorate the pages and covers of magazines, inspire designers to create new collections and creations. nine0003
Having met famous Italian make-up artist Alberto de Rossi on the set of Roman Holiday, Audrey Hepburn continued her collaboration with him throughout her career, and Alberto himself and his wife became her close friends.
Alberto de Rossi’s father was a make-up artist, and Alberto himself was his father’s apprentice from the age of 14. De Rossi was a friend of many of the most beautiful women of his time. In addition to creating looks for Audrey Hepburn, he also authored the stylish makeup of Elizabeth Taylor in the movie Cleopatra, whose alluring image and one of the amazing and interesting makeup in the history of modern times, still attracts the attention and inspires makeup artists around the world. nine0003
Audrey Hepburn herself spoke of her makeup artist as follows: “Alberto is not only pretty, but also a really great makeup artist. When he finishes his make-up, I am sure that I look much more beautiful than I really am.
One of the most beautiful features of Audrey is her radiant skin and her delicate face, shining with beauty and health, despite the actress’s addiction to smoking — the actress smoked two or three packs of cigarettes a day, not parting with this bad habit throughout her life. life. From her experience in the theater, Audrey knew and saw the damage to the skin caused by the careless removal of makeup, and therefore she always cleaned her face very carefully. There were no special tricks in this, the actress just always washed her face before going to bed, however, she used black soap, which cost $ 25, and the actress also did steam baths for her face twice a week. The basis of all her makeup was an impeccably matched tone, perfectly evenly applied to the skin of the face, and the natural shade of the powder was selected in accordance with the natural tone of her skin. nine0003
One of the tricks of Alberto de Rossi was such a simple trick: after cleansing his face with water and soap, he applied a thin layer of foundation on the skin of the face and neck, then powdered, brushing off the excess with a brush, and then sprinkled the face of the actress with Evian water, and I wiped it off with a tissue after a couple of minutes. Thanks to this procedure, Audrey’s skin seemed to glow from the inside.
Audrey Hepburn always said: “The beauty of a woman is not in clothes, figure or hairstyle. She is in the sparkle of her eyes. After all, the eyes are the gate to the heart where love lives. nine0003
The actress received a very sweet and kind nickname «Bambi the Deer», thanks to the natural shape of her round eyes, and a clear open look. The eyes of the actress are a bright and expressive detail of the whole image skillfully emphasized by cosmetics, which has become the hallmark of her makeup.
Make-up artist Alberto De Rossi is the inventor of the well-known “deer look” of the actress. Probably the most popular fact about this gorgeous makeup artist is that to create Audrey Hepburn’s unique eye makeup, he used a rather complex and lengthy process of applying several layers of mascara, and then separation each eyelash safety pin.
To give the actress’s eyes such a beautiful almond shape, the make-up artist used a black or dark brown pencil, the line of which on the upper eyelid was drawn in such a way as to visually lengthen the shape of the eyes — expanding from the inner corner to the outer. Along the line of the lower eyelashes, the eyes are also underlined with a pencil.
One of the signature and recognizable details of the actress’s make-up, of course, is her expressive, well-groomed and rather wide eyebrows, which immediately attract attention in any photo. It was Audrey Hepburn who brought the natural shape and density of the eyebrows into fashion, thereby displacing the trend towards the notorious “eyebrow strings” in the style of Marlene Dietrich. nine0003
Alberto de Rossi believed that eyebrow make-up is incredibly important, and excessive use of tweezers makes them look unnatural.
He said: «Eyebrows should be plucked very moderately, leaving as many natural hairs as possible — men are repelled by eyebrows drawn in pencil.»
De Rossi created natural, thick gull-wing eyebrows for Audrey’s look, visually enlarging them by completing the line at the top of the arch. The makeup artist used shadows, wax and eyebrow powder to achieve this result. nine0003
Audrey was one of the first stars to have her makeup focused on one thing, making her look more natural than other actresses of the time.
Alberto de Rossi believed that the most common mistake many women make in makeup is that they “do not understand the color harmony of cosmetics” and do not match the chosen shade of lipstick with the color of their hair, eyes and skin: “They want lipstick to match or contrast with what is below, not above the neck. In most cases, this is a mistake.» nine0003
Audrey’s lips are quite full by nature, but in makeup, the actress preferred to make them visually a little larger, using a special contour — emphasizing the so-called «cupid’s bow», visually lengthening the upper lip, making it a little wider than the lower one. Lipstick color was usually matte and had a natural tint. When choosing a red lipstick color for makeup, a natural red tint was also preferred, however, the equipment with which the photographs of the time were taken added a little yellow tint, making the lipstick color appear orange in some of the actress’s shots.
