The Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 ($1,249 to start) is an ultra-thin 2-in-1 laptop that’s tailor-made for people who are always on the go. Like last year’s Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360, this iteration features a gorgeous AMOLED screen that’s perfect for media consumption. It’s also ideal for work thanks to its speedy performance.
Though a Windows laptop at its core, the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 comes loaded with a slew of Samsung software. This could be good or bad, depending on how invested you are in the Samsung ecosystem. If you are, then you’ll find that this 2-in-1 pairs nicely with your Samsung tablets and phones. Otherwise, all of these applications are effectively bloatware.

The Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 has a starting price of $1,249 on Samsung’s website . This configuration features a 13.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED screen, an Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
We reviewed the larger high-end configuration, which costs $1,549 and features a 15.6-inch FHD AMOLED display, an Intel Core i7 CPU, 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The 2-in-1 is available in silver, graphite and burgundy.

At 13.97 x 8.98 x 0.47 inches, the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 is one of the thinnest laptops we’ve ever reviewed. Though a tad heavy at 3.11 pounds, it’s still light enough to carry with you wherever you go.

Save for a small, almost imperceptible Samsung logo, the lid on our graphite review unit is entirely black. The interior is as tasteful as the exterior, with a full keyboard, spacious trackpad and large display with thin bezels. The top bezel is about twice as thick as the side bezels to accommodate the built-in webcam, while the bottom bezel is about half an inch thick.

The graphite finish gives the device an air of elegance. While the chassis feels both smooth and rugged, it smudges easily, even if your hands are clean. This isn’t a deal-breaker, but it was disappointing seeing my fingerprints all over the laptop after every use.

The Galaxy Book2 Pro 360’s 15.
6-inch display is perfect for both work and watching content. Tent mode is great for watching shows like Moon Knight and Peacemaker. But no matter how you situate the laptop, you’re going to have an ideal viewing experience.
The AMOLED screen delivers strong contrast between blacks and whites and helps colors appear more vibrant. This is especially true for content like the final Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness trailer, where you’re bombarded with an array of colors and particle effects. Despite all the chaos on screen, everything comes through with crystal clarity. The latest Stranger Things season 4 trailer also looks stunning on this display.

Our Tom’s Guide brightness test revealed the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360’s display achieves an average brightness of 366 nits. This bests the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360’s 264 average and surpasses the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 7’s 351 average. However, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio reigns supreme with an average of 487 nits of brightness.
Per our colorimeter test, the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 produced 123.6% of the sRGB color gamut (the closer to 100%, the better). This is just slightly above its predecessor (120%) and well short of the Yoga 9i Gen 7 (197%).
Screen resolution tops out at 1080p. While I’d prefer a minimum 1440p resolution for a 15-inch laptop, the AMOLED screen’s rich picture quality made the lower pixel count negligible. While a 2K or 4K screen would’ve been better, the Full HD display is good enough.

You won’t find a wide range of ports on this laptop.
Like its predecessor, this 2-in-1 has a pair of USB-C ports and a USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 port. It also has a microSD card reader and a headphone jack.

The ports are located on both sides of the laptop. Since they’re placed near the back of the device, you won’t have to worry about cables getting in the way.
Unfortunately, if you have USB-A accessories, you’ll need to use an adapter.
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 review: Performance
- Powerful enough to handle multiple tasks
- Outperforms its predecessor and some competitors

The Galaxy Book2 Pro is thin in design but not in performance. Thanks to its Core i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM, the laptop is powerful enough for your everyday computing needs – whether that’s work, content consumption or both.
When we ran it through the Geekbench 5.4 multi-core CPU benchmark test, the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 scored 9,043. This not only exceeds the 5,575 that the previous iteration achieved, but it also outstrips the Yoga 9i Gen 7’s impressive 7,150 score.

The Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 transcoded a 4K video to 1080p using Handbrake in 9 minutes and 34 seconds. This easily trounces the 16 minutes and 24 seconds its predecessor took to perform the same task.
The Surface Laptop Studio (11:24) and Yoga 9i Gen 7 (12:18) come close but are still over the ten-minute mark.
While a solid work laptop, the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 comes up short in the gaming department. In our testing the laptop could only run the Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Gathering Storm graphical benchmark at an average of 24 frames per second, which is just below the 30 fps minimum we’d like to see. As such, you’re better off playing games on streaming services like GeForce Now and Xbox Game Pass.
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 review: Keyboard and touchpad

The full keyboard has plenty of space for you to type for many hours comfortably. In fact, I wrote the majority of this review on this device without a hitch. It has one of the best keyboards on any laptop I’ve reviewed. The keys provide a satisfying amount of resistance, even if you’re accustomed to mechanical keyboards.
I also like how I can adjust the backlight to adapt to ambient lighting conditions.

The large touchpad is as intuitive and easy to use as the keyboard. It’s responsive and accurate and never failed to properly read all of my swipes and gestures.
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 review: Audio
- Good audio for a laptop

Laptops don’t always have the best audio quality, but I found the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360’s speakers to be surprisingly strong. Highs, lows and mids come through nicely and nothing ever becomes muddled. With that said, the bass isn’t as prominent as I would like, and non-existent in some cases.

A song like Dream Theater’s “Awaken the Master” lacked power due to the middling bass, though all of the intricate guitar and keyboard solos sounded decent enough. But if you’re watching interviews or other conversational content on platforms like YouTube, the speakers are more than good enough.
If you absolutely hate how the speakers sound, you can always use your favorite pair of the best headphones.
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 review: Webcam

The 1080p webcam built into the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 is an improvement over the 720p camera found on last year’s model. That’s about the only thing I can say since the quality is basic at best. You’ll need to be in a room with better than average lighting conditions when using the webcam. Otherwise, you’re going to appear washed out and somewhat blurry.
I don’t normally expect much from laptop cameras, but considering how important video conferencing has become during the global pandemic, I can’t forgive such a mediocre webcam.
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 review: Touchscreen and S Pen

The touchscreen is extremely responsive, no matter if you’re using your fingers or the included S Pen.
As I normally do with 2-in-1 laptops, I often alternated between using the touchpad and touch controls while using the device and it all worked fantastically.

Since Windows 11 and Samsung apps are touch-friendly, the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 makes for a viable, if awkward, tablet. Like the ginormous Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, it can be difficult to use the Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 as a tablet for long periods of time. But so long as you hold it with two hands, this shouldn’t be an issue.
The S Pen functions as well as you’d expect for a digital pen. I’m not artistically inclined myself, but if you’re an illustrator, I’m sure you can get plenty of use from the S Pen. It’s a solid stylus.
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 review: Software

Like the best Samsung phones, this laptop comes pre-installed with a slew of Samsung applications.
You’ll likely ignore the vast majority of them. However, there are a handful of useful apps for those invested in the Samsung ecosystem.
Apps like Samsung Notes and Smart Switch sync files and photos with your other Samsung devices. You can even automatically connect to tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 to use as secondary monitors. The Microsoft Your Phone app also makes it easy to switch from working on your Android phone to the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 (and vice versa).
Despite all the Samsung software, this is still a Windows 11 laptop. If you’ve used Microsoft’s latest operating system or have read our Windows 11 review, then you’ll know what to expect.
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 review: Battery life and heat
- Lasts for 12 hours
- Runs a tad hotter than we’d like
The Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 lasted for 11 hours and 59 minutes on the Tom’s Guide battery life test, which tasks the laptop with surfing the web over Wi-Fi with the screen set to 150 nits of brightness.
This is less than the previous iteration’s impressive 13 and a half hours of tested battery life. With that said, this laptop still lasts over an hour longer than the Surface Laptop Studio (10:42).

In our standard heat test, which involves running a heat gun over the laptop after streaming 15 minutes of full HD video on it, we found the hottest point to be on the center underside of the 2-in-1, which peaked at 97.7 degrees Fahrenheit. In contrast, the Surface Laptop Studio (88 degrees) and Galaxy Pro Book 360 (85.5 degrees) run much cooler.
We generally consider temperatures over 95 degrees as being uncomfortable. Since this laptop runs 2 degrees hotter than we’d like, we recommend keeping it on a desk or other solid surface instead of your lap.
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 review: Verdict
Like last year’s model, the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 makes a strong case for Samsung laptops. As we’ve seen in this review, it has all the features folks want from a work and everyday laptop, including a large and vibrant screen, roomy keyboard and speedy performance.
It’s on par with other 2-in-1 devices and dedicated laptops.
Though a rock-solid device, those who own the original Galaxy Book Pro 360 don’t need to upgrade to this latest iteration. Yes, it runs better based on our testing, but last year’s model still makes for a great work and recreational machine. The minor improvements aren’t worth it if you have the 2021 iteration.
Despite the middling webcam and Samsung bloatware, the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 has a lot going for it and is a 2-in-1 we highly recommend to those who are in the market for a powerful, portable laptop that pairs nicely with Samsung devices.

Laptop or tablet? These devices can do both

If you’re looking for a portable productivity device, a laptop is probably your best bet. If watching videos or mobile gaming is your top priority, opt for a tablet. But what if you want a device that does all these things and much more?
That’s where a 2-in-1 device comes in. In recent years, devices that can operate as both a laptop and a tablet have become increasingly popular.
However, a word of warning: you’ll be hard-pressed to find a device that excels at both. In some cases, you could buy a capable laptop and tablet for the same as a premium hybrid device. But the convenience of needing just one device will convince many people to opt for a 2-in-1.
Most of the devices below run Windows 11 out of the box – those with Windows 10 are eligible for a free upgrade, but it’s not compulsory.
Chrome OS and iOS are both represented here, while we also consider Android tablets if they’re good enough once you connect a keyboard.
There’s a range of options here, encompassing a range different designs and price points. Best 2-in-1 laptops and tablets
1. Microsoft Surface Pro 8 – Best Overall

After several years of minor updates to its flagship 2-in-1, Microsoft delivered some serious upgrades with the Surface Pro 8.
That includes a more modern design, with slimmer bezels allowing for a larger 13in screen within almost the same footprint. Display has always been a strength of the Surface Pro line, but adding an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate takes it to the next level.
Microsoft has also upgraded both the front and rear cameras, with the former one part of an excellent video calling setup. Dual studio mics and impressive quad speakers complete the set.
You also get improved battery life and the customary processor upgrade (now from Intel’s 11th-gen), although it’d have been nice to see more ports.
It’s the keyboard cover that transforms the Surface Pro 8 into a portable computer, though. The latest ‘Signature’ iteration is the most convincing yet, and it includes a dedicated Slim Pen 2 stylus.
But this is a pricey add-on to a device that was already more expensive than its predecessor. If you can justify spending this sort of money, you’ll probably want to make it your main computer – that’s possible, for a certain type of person.
However, you may want to consider the new Surface Pro 9. In particular, the new ARM-based models add 5G, boost battery life and bring new AI features.

2. Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 – Best Convertible

Samsung’s Galaxy Book Pro 360 is the pick of the bunch when it comes to 2-in-1 devices. The fusion of great design with powerful internals and attractive screen make it the convertible to beat, especially as it’s priced in line with other premium laptops.
A combination of 11th-gen Intel chips and Iris Xe integrated graphics deliver solid all-round performance, even if there’s no discrete GPU.
Battery life is also excellent, rivalling some of the longest-lasting laptops you can buy. Elsewhere, the display provides a rich, vivid viewing experience, even with the resolution capped at 1920×1080.
However, the 360-degree hinge is the big selling point here. It can be adjusted to any angle from regular laptop to tablet, alongside an S-Pen that magnetically attaches to the back of the display. There’s also the option for 5G support, but the competitively-priced 4G will offer everything most people are looking for in a 2-in-1 laptop. This slight extra affordability gives the Pro 360 the edge over other Samsung options, although the Galaxy Book Flex 2 is a better choice if you want an S-Pen built into the device.

3. Apple iPad Pro (12.9in 2021) – Best iPad

Apple doesn’t make MacBooks with a touchscreen, let alone a 360-degree design.
However, the iPad Pro is the closest the company has got to a laptop replacement, especially using the new M1 chip.
Performance is predictably excellent, while the gorgeous 120Hz display is another real highlight. It can also comfortably last 10 hours on a single charge, provided you’re not carrying out demanding tasks.
Cameras are also the best you’ll find on any tablet, while the iPad Pro retains the ultra-premium design and build we’ve come to expect from the line.
It’s also worth considering the
11in version, but this 12.9in variant comes much closer to replacing your laptop. You will need to pair it with a pricey Magic Keyboard, though, and the iPad Pro is still held back by the limitations of iPadOS.

4. Huawei MateBook E (2022) – Best Value for Money

Huawei has dabbled in 2-in-1 devices in the past, but the latest MateBook E is its best effort yet.
The device isn’t dissimilar to the Surface Pro 8 in design – high praise considering it’s significantly more affordable. However, that entry-level model has just an 11th-gen Core i3 model under the hood – most people will probably want to step up to i5, where you’ll find solid all-round performance.
A 12.6in display is slightly smaller than some rivals and only 60Hz, but opting for OLED makes up for it. Huawei has maintained slim bezels around the edge of the display, which house a solid webcam.
There’s also an impressive webcam for video calls, but no Windows Hello face unlock. That means you’ll need to rely on an underwhelming fingerprint sensor built into the power button. There’s also only one USB-C port.
The included keyboard cover (with built-in stand) and stylus sold separately are both superb, but battery life is another key weakness.
There may be one too many compromises here for most people, but it remains a compelling option and very good value for money.

5. Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio – Most Versatile

With the Surface Laptop Studio, Microsoft has solved one of the Surface Book’s key design drawbacks: needing to house many of its components under the screen.
Ditching the detachable display for a new flexible hinge design achieves this, although you’re now limited to just three fixed positions. But the Laptop Studio excels as a traditional laptop, while there are credible use cases for the other two modes – with the display pulled forward or laid flat.
The high-res 120Hz panel itself is a joy to use, while video calling features remain a highlight. The keyboard and trackpad take some getting used to, but deliver a convincing experience. With great battery life and solid performance (thanks to 11th-gen Intel CPUs and optional RTX 3050 Ti GPU), there’s a lot to like here.
But whether you buy the Surface Laptop Studio will likely come down to two things: whether the design works for you and if you can afford the high asking price. If your answer to both is yes, you won’t be disappointed. With no second-gen model expected until at least 2023, you don’t need to worry about this being out of date anytime soon.

6. Asus ROG Flow Z13 – Best For Gaming

Gaming on a PC usually requires a permanent desktop or bulky laptop, but Asus has proven that doesn’t need to be the case.
The ROG Flow Z13 offers incredible power within a thin and light design, with a choice between top-spec Intel or AMD CPUs and a discrete RTX 3050 Ti graphics card. Performance drops slightly when running on battery power, but connecting the optional XG Mobile helps deliver desktop-level gaming.
Elsewhere, the large 13.4in Mini-LED display delivers an immersive gaming experience. You get a choice between Full HD or 4K, with both offering a silky-smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
A built-in kickstand and detachable keyboard (included in the price) makes the Flow Z13 impressively versatile, although you might be disappointed by the lack of ports. It’d also have been nice to see some better speakers too, but most gamers will be connecting headphones anyway.
But battery life is a key weakness, with less than 90 minutes of AAA gaming on a single charge. The situation is much better in general use, but at around five hours, it’s still worse than most rivals.
Ultimately, the Flow Z13’s high price tag will put people off.
But it’s an exciting first step into the world of gaming 2-in-1s.

7. HP Chromebook x360 14c – Best 2-in-1 Chromebook

It’s not all about Windows devices and iPads where 2-in-1s are concerned though – there are plenty of options if you’re looking for a Chrome OS device.
HP’s Chromebook x360 is our top pick, combining super-fast performance with a great design and excellent keyboard & trackpad. The Full HD display is another highlight, even if it doesn’t get very bright, while the Bang & Olufsen speakers deliver an excellent audio experience.
Elsewhere, you also get a great port selection and impressive battery life, all for a price that won’t break the bank.
If you can look beyond poor outdoor visibility and some occasional bugs, the x360 14c could be a great option for you. Just make sure you’re content with the limitations of Chrome OS.

8. Microsoft Surface Go 3 – Best Budget 2-in-1

If you don’t have much money to spend, the Surface Go 3 is an excellent option. It’s one of the smallest devices to run a full version of Windows 11, making the OS more portable than ever.
There aren’t many upgrades here compared to the
Surface Go 2. In fact, the only change of note is the introduction of new processors, but impressive performance from the Intel Core i3 chip justifies this move. However, this is likely to take a significant hit on cheaper models.
The 10.5in touchscreen display is excellent, and the video calling experience is very good. But the Go 3 does suffer from poor battery life, while chunky bezels give the impression of an older device. You’ll also need to buy a Type Cover separately to make the most of it.
Nonetheless, if you want a solid tablet experience that avoids the limitations of Android and iOS, the Go 3 is a solid bet. With the Go 4 not expected to arrive until 2023, you don’t have to worry about it being out of date anytime.

9. Samsung Galaxy Book 2 360 – Premium but affordable
If you’d rather not pay the premium for Samsung’s ‘Pro’ branded convertibles, the regular Book 2 360 is nearly as good.
It still excels at the basics, with an excellent 13.3in OLED touchscreen, great performance from Intel’s 12th-gen CPUs and all-day battery life. You also get fast charging and a decent port selection, all within a device weighing only 1.16kg. Despite this, it remains impressively sturdy and durable.
However, it’s not all good news. The Book 2 360’s 720p webcam isn’t great, while a unreliable trackpad means you’ll soon want to connect a mouse. You’re also missing out on a discrete GPU, something several rivals offer.
But for under $1,000/£1,000, this is a great convertible laptop that will serve many people well. If you don’t absolutely need convertible functionality, it’s also worth considering the Galaxy Book 2 Pro.

But that’s to be expected from a first-gen device that’s only the second ever folding tablet/laptop to ever come to market. The Zenbook 17 Fold’s hinge is impressively durable, and it enables a range of different form factors that simply aren’t possible on the other devices in this list.
You can use it as a huge 17.3in tablet, use the built-in kickstand for hands-free use or fold it in half for a unique scrolling experience. Then there’s the dedicated keyboard accessory, which can create a desktop replacement or attach over half the screen to create a convincing 12.5in laptop experience.

There really aren’t many around these days with Microsoft’s Surface range being the most obvious. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S8 Series is another option, but Android still isn’t great for productivity. The limitations of iOS (or iPadOS, as it’s officially known) also hold back the iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard, but it’s a credible alternative.

Much of what you need to look for in a convertible laptop/tablet is the same as for a regular laptop and tablet.
You’ll want to get the best specifications for your money including the latest processor, amount of memory and storage plus a good-quality screen. Make sure you read our reviews to find out more about each device, including benchmark results.
The design, though, is going to be a big part of your buying decision and you need to choose a device which fits your needs best. A laptop-first design is likely to be bigger and heavier but is likely to offer longer battery life (there’s more space for a bigger battery).

Although a convertible tablet might not have many physical ports (some still have full-size USB though), they are smaller and lighter than a hybrid laptop making them great for travelling.
