Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) V18.
0.5.9 Released.
Display Driver Uninstaller is a driver removal utility that can help you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics card drivers and packages from your system, trying to remove all leftovers (including registry keys, folders and files, driver store).
The AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL video drivers can normally be uninstalled from the Windows Control panel, this driver uninstaller program was designed to be used in cases where the standard driver uninstall fails, or when you need to thoroughly delete NVIDIA and ATI video card drivers.
The current effect after you use this driver removal tool will be similar as if its the first time you install a new driver just like a fresh, clean install of Windows. As with any tool of this kind, we recommend creating a new system restore point before using it, so that you can revert your system at any time if you run into problems.
If you have problem installing older driver or newer one, give it a try as there are some reports that it fix those problems.
RECOMMENDED USAGE :
-The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best.
-Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe).
-It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues.
-You do NOT need to uninstall the driver prior using DDU.
Keep note that NVIDIA/AMD/INTEL did not have anything to do with this, I do not work at or for NVIDIA/AMD/INTEL and they should not be held responsible for anything that may go wrong with this application.
If you need help for using DDU, check this GUIDE
System Requirements:
.NET framework 4.8
Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11 (32/64 bits) (Insiders preview is at your own risk)
ChangeLog:
Intel: Additional removal for «CTA» and «Intel(R) Niagara Falls I2C» drivers.
Intel: Additional removal of registry region «CLSID», «Pnplockdownfiles».
Driver Store: Additional removal for «CTA» and «Extension» drivers for intel.
All: HKCR, «Installer\Dependencies» and «package cache» folders cleanup.
All: Warn the user if they are not at least on .NET Framework 4.8 and close DDU.

Playing games rarely but can kick me out of the game with an error NVIDIA device is not removable and cannot be ejected, I tried a lot to solve it… Something worked, something didn’t work… So I decided to try the last method, driver rollback, I’ll say right away that these drivers were from the very beginning, on YouTube more than half of the videos on how to return the previous drivers, I need to download and change them myself . .. But since I’m a moron and on YouTube I can’t find a normal video If I could, then I’m writing this here, give me a video where they will explain everything from beginning to end, how to find out which drivers you need to download and how to change them, in general, I need to explain everything from scratch.

there is practically no point in downgrading (downgrading the version), firewood is being improved and performance is increasing, you need to download drivers for your nvidia video card https://www.nvidia.ru/Download/index.aspx?lang=ru from here you need to download them, here you need to choose your video card model, most likely you have a geforce series, and there already choose your model, you know Windows, I hope what you have and figure it out (if not, then open the explorer on the left, find the computer -> right click -> properties and see what bit depth is there Windows and version), you download the firewood and during the installation it will be possible to check the box somewhere so that a clean installation is performed.
If you can’t help through ddu, there shouldn’t be anything complicated, downloaded installed, went to select nvidia and uninstalled firewood, there will be buttons and it is recommended to restart the PC

Try to do a clean install first, so you don’t screw up anything, download the drivers and just install, and where you need to check the clean install box, if there are no such checkboxes, then just continue the installation and see if the problem is solved.

Windows updates typically contain new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes. However, some computers tend to run into problems after installing a major update. Among the common problems after updating Windows is the display driver crash issue.
Your display driver may fail due to an outdated driver, compatibility issues with the new update, and a Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) conflict. Thus, here are a few things that you can try to troubleshoot and fix the display driver crash after updating.
1. Uninstalling and Clean Installing the Display Driver
Often display driver problems are caused by the display driver itself. Thus, a quick solution to the problem is to uninstall the display driver and then install it from the manufacturer’s website.
There are many ways to cleanly install a display driver on a Windows computer. In this guide, we will use the Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall the driver and install it from the manufacturer’s website.
If you are unable to boot into Windows due to a severe failure, be sure to download the DDU application to a USB drive and then connect it to your computer. Then boot into Safe Mode in Windows and follow these steps.
Also, there are a few other things to note before you start:
- We recommend that you run DDU in safe mode so that you can safely uninstall the drivers. The uninstaller will detect and warn you that you are not in safe mode when you try to use the application in normal boot mode.
- You may also temporarily lose access to the secondary display as the display driver is uninstalled.
- Reinstalling the driver may require an active internet connection to check and download. If not, be sure to download the offline version of the driver before proceeding with the uninstall procedure below.
To clean install the display driver:
- Go to the DDU page and download the latest uninstaller.
- Run the .exe file and extract it to another folder on your PC.
- Open the DDU folder and click Display Driver Uninstaller.exe. Click «Yes» when prompted by UAC.
- In the DDU interface, click the Device Type Selector dropdown and select GPU.
- Then click the «Select Device» drop-down box and select the GPU brand (Intel, AMD, Nvidia).
- Next click «Clear» and restart.
DDU will create a restore point before uninstalling the display driver. You can use it to restore your PC to its current state if something goes wrong during the process.
- DDU will remove all drivers and components to make room for a clean install. Wait for the process to complete and the computer will restart.
- After the reboot, go to the display driver manufacturer’s website: AMD Radeon Software, Nvidia GeForce Experience, or Intel Graphics Windows.
- Download the latest display driver set available for your GPU.
- Run the installer and wait for the process to complete. Once installed, your secondary display should start working again.
- Restart your computer. After rebooting, the display driver should stop causing problems.
2. Disable multiplanar overlay using the registry editor.
If your display driver crash is also accompanied by a black screen and a hang problem, you can disable Multiplane Overly (MPO) to resolve the issue. MPO is a Windows feature associated with the Windows display driver model that checks for information about multiplanar overlay capabilities.
However, MPO seems to be a common contributing factor to AMD and Nvidia driver crashes, such as the AMD driver timeout error. To resolve this issue, try disabling this feature using the Registry Editor.
Please note that making incorrect changes to the Windows registry can cause system crashes. Be sure to back up the registry and create a restore point as a restore option.
To disable multi-plane overlay:
- Press the Win key and type regedit.
- Click «Registry Editor» in the search results. Click Yes if UAC prompts.
- In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following location:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm
- In the left pane, right-click the Dwm key.
- Choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
- Rename the key as OverlayTestMode.
- Then double-click the OverlayTestMode value to open its properties.
- Type 5 in the Value field and click OK to save your changes. This should disable MPO on your Windows PC.
- After disabling the MPO, restart the computer and check if the display driver issues still occur.
3. Rolling back to a previous version of Windows
Windows 10 and 11 have a handy «go back» feature. This allows you to revert to a previous version of Windows in order to undo any changes the new update has made to your computer.
However, this is not a permanent function. You only have ten days to roll back. After ten days, Windows will delete the old backup, and thus the «Go Back» option will become unavailable.
Follow these steps to roll back a Windows update:
- Press Win + I to open the Settings app.
- On the System tab, scroll down and click Recovery.
- Next, click on the «Back» button.
- Click Restore and follow the instructions on the screen.
If you see the message «This option is no longer available on this computer», you will not be able to use this feature to perform a restore. However, for future updates, you can increase the rollback period from 10 days to 60 days on Windows 11 using a registry hack to get a longer rollback window.
4. Disable Fast Startup
Fast Startup helps your PC boot faster than a normal shutdown. However, sometimes this feature can interfere with normal startup behavior and cause problems with the display driver.
To resolve this problem, try disabling fast startup on your computer. Here’s how to do it.
- Press Win + R to open Run.
- Enter control and click OK.
- In Control Panel, select System and Security > Power Options.
- In the left pane, click Choose what the power button does.
- By default, the shutdown options are greyed out. To enable them, click Change options that are currently unavailable to view the Startup option.
- Uncheck Enable fast startup (recommended) to disable this feature.
- Click Save Changes and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Not all crashes are caused by software
Display driver problems and incompatible Windows updates usually cause the display driver to crash. But in most cases, the solution is simple and does not require repair costs.
However, if the problem persists, consider the possibility of a dying GPU. Signs often include worsening crashes, strange fan noise, frequent crashes, and a dramatic drop in performance.
