This page describes how to uninstall a device or driver package on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Before uninstalling a device, we recommend physically unplugging the device from the system. If the device is uninstalled before it is unplugged, the operating system may rediscover the device and reinstall drivers for it in the time between the uninstall and unplugging the device.

First, open Settings (you can do this using the Windows+I keyboard shortcut) and type Remove. Select Add or remove programs. If the device or driver package that you wish to remove appears in the list of programs, select uninstall.

If your device or driver package does not appear in the list, you’ll need to use Device Manager to uninstall the device. If that device is the only device using the driver package, then the driver package can also be removed via Device Manager. To launch Device Manager, select the Start button, type Device Manager, and press Enter.

    Then follow these steps:

    1. Select the View menu and turn on Show Hidden Devices.
    2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry for the device you want to uninstall, and select Uninstall.
    3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, if you wish to remove the driver package in addition to uninstalling the device, select the Delete the driver software for this device option. When ready to complete the operation, select OK.

You may also need to restart the computer.

For more information about uninstalling driver and driver packages, see How Devices and Driver Packages are Uninstalled.

Remove a device from Find My Devices on iCloud.

    com

You can use Find My Devices on iCloud.com to temporarily remove a device from a device list or disable Activation Lock on a device that you have already transferred or sold.

To access Find My Devices, go to icloud.com/find.

If you set up two-factor authentication but don’t have a verified device, you can still use Find Devices. Just click the «Search for Devices» button after entering your Apple ID.

Removing a device from the device list

If you are not using the device, you can temporarily remove it from your account so that it disappears from the device list. When the device reconnects to the network, it will reappear in the list if it has Activation Lock enabled (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple Watch) or is paired with an iOS or iPadOS device (AirPods or Beats headphones) ).

    1. Turn off your device or put your AirPods in the case. Before removing a device from the list of devices, it must be taken offline.

    2. In the Find My Devices app on iCloud.com, click All Devices and select the device you want to wipe.

If there is no All Devices list, you have already selected a device. Click the name of the current device in the center of the Find Devices toolbar to see a list of devices, and then select a new device.

    3. Click Remove from Account.

You can delete an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac by completely disabling iCloud on that device. Disabling iCloud on a device will disable all iCloud features for that device.

If you forget to turn off Find My before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple Watch, you can turn off Activation Lock using Find My Devices on iCloud. com.

If you still have access to your device, see the Apple Support article Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, Activation Lock on Mac, or Activation Lock on Apple Watch.

    1. In the Find My Devices app on iCloud.com, click All Devices and select the device you want to wipe.

If there is no All Devices list, you have already selected a device. Click the name of the current device in the center of the Find Devices toolbar to see a list of devices, and then select a new device.

    2. Erase device data.

Since the device is not lost, do not enter a phone number or message.

If the device is offline, remote wipe will not start until the next time the device is connected to the network. When the device data is erased, you will receive an email.

    3. After confirming that you want to erase your device, click Remove from account.

All your content has been deleted and another user can now activate the device.

You can also use the Find My app on any device that’s signed in with the same Apple ID. See Use the Find My app to find people, devices, and things.
