The Intel Xeon E5450 processor was released in 2006 for server systems built on the LGA 771 socket.
it turned out that after minor modifications, this processor could work perfectly on the LGA 775 socket, which was the most massive on the home PC market. At the same time, the hardware of servers and data centers was being updated, and many used processors were put up on Chinese sites at competitive prices (at the moment, processors are being sold already prepared for installation in the LGA 775 socket without additional manipulations).
This processor is almost an exact copy of the Core 2 Quad Q9650 processor, which even today costs 2.5 times more on the well-known Chinese marketplace! At the same time, the only difference is the lower requirement for the cooling system (80W for the E5450 and 95W for the Q9650).

what’s the difference?
The only difference in them is that the revision e0 or slanq has a slightly higher overclocking potential
You can determine the revision by the third line on the processor cover (the revision slbbm is indicated in the photo in the header).
Overclocking and performance
For overclocking (by bus) you will need a motherboard based on p45, p35 or p43 chipsets (in descending order of the best option). For maximum overclocking, you will also need RAM running at 1333 MHz.
Buy motherboards on socket LGA 775:
- p45: First option, second option, third option.
- p35: One option.
- p43: First choice, second choice, third choice.
Buy DDR2 RAM:
- First option,

- third option.
Cooling: the Snowman cooler (buy) proved to be the best.
Standard overclocking to 3.6 GHz will be done by most of the above motherboards after you set an arbitrary bus value. For such frequencies, RAM running at a frequency of 800 MHz will be enough.
Overclocking procedure (they may vary depending on the motherboard):
- Turn off all power saving features in the motherboard and set the PCI-E value to 101 MHz.
- Set DRAM-FSB to 1:1.
- Set the bus to 10 points and reboot, checking the stability of the system.
- If everything is ok, raise the tire further until the required frequencies are reached.
