A Good Choice For A Quality Build – LiquidSky.com

There are a lot of factors to consider when discussing the quality of MSI motherboards. However, in general, MSI motherboards are good quality products. They offer a variety of features and options that are appealing to consumers, and they generally have good reviews. MSI motherboards are a good choice for those who are looking for a reliable and affordable option.

The real issue is the Killer NIC software, which is a trash program that frequently causes problems with the NIC (such as packet loss). MSi mobos are just fine. It is possible to purchase an Intel 1GB 2x NIC for $25 on eBay and use it instead. There is no way to get support from Asrocks, and their website for drivers downloads is also terrible. It’s never a good idea to give them a recommendation. The MSI board is the more powerful and reliable of the two boards mentioned above. According to the specifications, it also supports the following speed RAMs:DDR4-1866 / 2133 / 2400 / 2666 / 2811 / 3000 / 3300 / 3466.

I don’t recommend anything less than 2933 for top performance. These boards are not as strong as others. Only the Taichi boards are effective. The gskill F4-3200C16D-16GVGB has a recommended speed of 2400 hertz and an Intel® G4-3200C16D-16GVGB with a recommended speed of 1600 hertz. So why not go with asrock that supports up to 2933? I believe so depending on user experience, despite the fact that the MSI boards I’ve used were horrible, Asus and Asrock have had no problems.

MSI’s laptop range is unquestionably among the best in the industry. High-end laptops, primarily targeting gamers and streamers, are designed by the company’s customers. MSI is widely regarded as a master in the use of high-end hardware, particularly video cards, in its laptops.

MSI is a well-known name in graphics technology. Their products are made by both AMD and Nvidia, and their customer service is excellent.

MSI’s motherboard reliability is critical to the company, and they conduct extensive testing in order to keep them up to date. It is common for higher-end products with thicker PCBs and better power stages to outlast and outperform lower-end models manufactured by either company. The ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 HERO EVA Edition comes in a heavy-duty aluminum enclosure with a heavy-duty VRM heatsink, a double-sided M.2 shield Frozr, and an enlarged chipset cooler. It has a direct 191-2+2 phase power design, Core Boost, and Game Boost. Many of its features appear to be aimed at gamers, who are frequently concerned with their thermals.

Msi Motherboard Issues

I have had several issues with MSI motherboards. The first one was that the onboard audio stopped working after a BIOS update. I had to go into the BIOS and disable the audio, then re-enable it. The second issue was that one of the RAM slots stopped working. I had to remove the RAM and put it in another slot. The third issue was that the motherboard wouldn’t boot up sometimes. I would have to unplug everything, then plug it back in and try again.

The error code 99 appears in the bottom right corner, and it has no apparent solution. This error code can be caused by a variety of factors. If this problem persists, the CMOS battery can be cleared or the BIOS / UEFI can be reset to default. Regardless, the instructions will differ depending on the type of software you are using. When using MSI motherboards, a 99 error code is frequently associated with an error regarding the connection of USB devices via front-panel ports. Several users have been able to resolve the issue by disconnecting unnecessary peripherals. You might also be dealing with an I/O (input/output) problem if these workarounds were effective.

Check to see if you can get past the 99 error code if you remove all non-essential components from your computer. If you still have issues with I/O, try connecting older peripherals via PS/2 ports instead of the standard PS port. Some users have been able to solve the problem by sending in their entire computer for a new one.

Reddit — Dive into anything

Back in the days of DDR3, MSI used to be amazing. Overclocking i7s up to 5 ghz at times, surviving bent pins, drops, Ram sticks being inserted incorrectly by people I was teaching how to build PCs, shipping across continents, etc. MSI mobos were KING in my eyes.

When I started my January build to finally upgrade from a 4790k to a 10900k, I was instead met with disappoint after disappointment.

It all started with a Z490 Gaming Carbon Wifi. Fully confident it would POST first try, I set up the entire case and I only got a CPU socket error LED. No problem, just reseat and possibly replace a 10900K, right?

Wrong. 10900K comes in, same CPU error. Tested on a motherboard borrowed from a friend showed that both 10900Ks were fully functional. So, off I sent my mobo to be serviced. January turns to February, motherboard comes back, end of story, yes?

Wrong. Z490 Gaming Carbon Wifi comes in, posts, and everything works. For 11 days. One late night after work, I decide to fire up my system for a gaming sesh and I get another CPU error for my motherboard. I testbench it, borrow my friend’s motherboard again, and sure enough, motherboard has issues again. So again, I send it off, and just as a precaution, I buy a Z590 Gaming Carbon Wifi just in case the other one breaks again. February turns to March, Z490 comes back for the second time, posts, all is good, right?

Wrong. Z490 dies again about three weeks later. Went to shake my computer to wake it up one morning and nothing happened. Went to power on my PC and saw the same “CPU EZ DEBUG LED” of death once more. Luckily, having my new Z590 Gaming Carbon Wifi on backup, everything is great once I replace it, right?

Wrong. Z590 straight up refused to take memory on channels B1 and B2. I troubleshoot, update my BIOS, but still nothing. So again, I send off another one of my motherboards to the factory. The Z490 had lost my faith, so I ended up selling it on eBay under “Parts Only”. March turns to April, Z590 comes back, everything is okay now , right?

Wrong. However, this time, it was less of MSI’s fault and more of mine. I was rebuilding my system late at night and dropped my CPU on the pins. Yknow, like an idiot. “No problem”, I thought, “ back with my old Z97 motherboards, I could bend pins back no problem.” So, out comes my trusty tweezers and magnifying glass, bend the pins back, end of story, right?

Wrong again. Pins straight up broke off. I was aghast. My heart sank to my pelvis. This was betrayal on another level. This was an “Et tu, Micro Star?” moment for me. Maybe today’s pins are built different, maybe I am an idiot for building late at night with my mental capacity not at 100%. Either way, April turns to May, then to June, I use my Z590 box as a paperweight for my concrete invoices, and I’m back on my Z97 system with my 4790K. No more room in the budget to keep ordering motherboards, I wait until I have enough spending money for one final Hail Mary: MSI Z490 A-Pro

This leads me to today. I have been troubleshooting this motherboard since Monday of this week, and after countless hours on forums, on call with my IT buddies, and lots of McDonald’s to satisfy my motherboard-lender friend, I have finally gotten my DDR4 system to post. Mobo only detects memory on channels B1 and B2, but it finally works. Complete opposite of my Z590 memory behavior.

I have only one question: What happened, MSI? Where did the quality go? All of these motherboards were bought brand new, yet time and time again, these DDR4 boards have done nothing short of causing me anguish.

I am not mad, nor am I upset at all. I’m just disappointed. This feels very much like finding out an old friend has lost their moral compass, and is not acting like themselves anymore. It is heart breaking. I truly hope, one day, I can refer my friends to MSI motherboards again and know, beyond reasonable doubt, that their system is in good hands.
