Hi all, two questions,

I bought a MSI RTX 2080ti Gaming X Trio and under the specifications listed on MSI’s official website, it says that my recommended psu should be a 750W one. However, i also plan to OC my 9900k and i’m also going to be running all 7 of my case/aio fans from a fan hub that will be connected to my PSU, basically, what is confusing me is according to pc part picker for my build, it says i only need 464W but msi is saying i need a 750W psu and i don’t have my peripherals listed down, so, how much wattage do i need from my PSU?

2nd question is for NZXT H700 owners or anyone in the know, in NZXT’s website, it says that the H700 can accomodate GPU’s up to 413mm in length, is still including the width of the provided Aer F120 fans in the front or is this 413mm excluding the fans?

Thank you.

nine0000 Review of the video card Palit GeForce RTX 2080 GameRock Premium

The release of the Turing graphics architecture is both delight and a certain skepticism. Not all users are sure that the cost of adapters of the 20th series is adequate, and not everyone understands the meaning of innovative technologies. With the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, we figured it out; this is an uncompromising flagship that is expensive, while demonstrating impressive agility in 4K resolution (although not always the final frame / s reaches 60 units). nine0246

There are two equally powerful graphics adapters on the market right now: GeForce RTX 2080 and GTX 1080 Ti.

But what about the more affordable GeForce RTX 2080? As for the more expensive competitor GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. The novelty of the 20th series offers the user not only modern architecture, but also promising graphics technologies. First of all, this is real-time ray tracing and advanced graphics based on artificial intelligence. nine0229

It’s not just about marketing and somewhat abstract functions; these options are indeed being introduced into new games, but it’s too early to talk about perfect optimization.

In Battlefield V (in the future also in Shadow of the Tomb Raider), ray tracing can already be activated, but the specified technology eats up too many hardware resources, as a result, enjoying realistic graphics in 4K resolution is quite problematic even on the top GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. nine0229

Obviously, NVIDIA is opening the door to the future, the hardware base for which already exists (these are 20-series video cards). Is it worth it to upgrade the system taking into account these factors? The answer is ambiguous.

A pragmatic user is sure that it is not necessary to change the GeForce GTX 1080 or 1080 Ti accelerator sufficient for today to a brand new RTX, because this will not give a tangible increase in power (especially in terms of rubles). Actually, this fair statement (supported by independent tests) is increasingly spreading across the worldwide web. nine0229

Technical and functional features

Palit GeForce RTX 2080 GameRock Premium is a top-end modification based on the 12 nm TU104 chip, which replaced (or in addition to?) the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. These two adapters are direct competitors when it comes to average fps in modern games.

The final results in the tests prove this fact. But it must be admitted that for an equal confrontation with the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, the RTX 2080 accelerator lacks a smaller hardware arsenal. Take a look at the screenshot from the GPU-Z program. nine0229

The Palit GeForce RTX 2080 GameRock Premium has 2944 CUDA cores, 184 texture units and less memory (8 GB vs 11 GB). But the transition to the GDDR6 standard (256-bit) had a positive effect on the memory bandwidth, it is higher for the RTX 2080 (and not for the GTX 1080 Ti), albeit slightly.

Palit GeForce RTX 2080 GameRock Premium looks very impressive, it uses a powerful cooling system consisting of a massive radiator and heat pipes ( metal is cooled by two fans). The back of the PCB is protected by a steel plate, which in in game mode heats up to impressive temperatures (it is impossible to touch it even on an open stand, it is very hot).

To match the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, the RTX 2080 needs a smaller hardware arsenal.

But the CO installed here does a good job of cooling the chip; above 69 degrees (at Furmark) we were unable to capture. There is no noise from two propellers, chokes periodically emit a characteristic crackle, but not in all games and benchmarks. nine0229

For additional power Palit GeForce RTX 2080 GameRock Premium, a pair of 8-pin connectors is provided; the manufacturer claims that the PSU power for the correct feeding profile adapter must be at least 650 W (as for the RTX 2080 Ti).

The plastic casing of the Palit GeForce RTX 2080 GameRock Premium has original LED lamps that can be configured through the ThunderMaster program (there are also overclocking and monitoring options). The backlight will help determine the current temperature of the chip, in fact, in this mode lights are nominal and functioning.

The Palit GeForce RTX 2080 GameRock Premium has a miniature switch that allows for instant overclocking. It uses Dual BIOS technology, one is provided for standard clock speeds, the second for increased ones.

The rear interface panel is a classic RTX 2080. The profile card has three DisplayPort connectors, one HDMI and USB Type-C for connecting VR headsets.

Performance and test results

Now it’s time to talk about the real showdown between GeForce RTX 2080 and GTX 1080 Ti. Both adapters demonstrate approximately the same performance both in benchmarks and in games. There are projects in which the RTX 2080 is ahead, and somewhere the GTX 1080 Ti breaks out into the lead. One way or another, the plus/minus result is the same. nine0229

GTX 1080

GTX 1080 Ti

RTX 2080

RTX 2080 Ti

As a result, there are now two equally powerful graphics adapters on the market: GeForce RTX 2080 and GTX 1080 Ti.

Conclusion

Choosing one of the proposed options is quite simple. If you are guided by common sense, namely the price factor, preference should be given to the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. The 10-series graphics accelerator is cheaper than the RTX 2080; both in the store and at flea markets .

Obviously, NVIDIA is opening the door to the future, the hardware base for which already exists.

Another argument in favor of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is 11 GB of memory, this amount will be useful in 4K resolution.
