Introduction
As always, among the representatives of the same model range there are more and less successful specimens. Those that are better are equipped with a good cooling system, higher frequencies, an optimized fan control algorithm and other features.
Due to the constantly rising dollar exchange rate, the GeForce GTX 980 Ti is not the most popular video card now, although it was affordable for many six months ago. However, she still deserves attention. We previously tested two GeForce GTX 9 models80 Ti — Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming SOC and MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G, now it’s time to complete this list.
This time the hero of the review will be Palit’s video card — GeForce GTX 980 Ti Super JetStream. Can she surprise us, and if so, how exactly?

– printed circuit board length, excluding cooling system and video output port bracket.
B PCB width, excluding PCI-E pins and cooling system.
C — height from the horizontal plane of the printed circuit board to the level of the upper surface of the cooling system.
D – diameter of the fan/s along the outer radius.
A1 – length of the printed circuit board, including the cooling system (if it extends beyond the printed circuit board) to the bracket for the video output ports.
1 — width of the printed circuit board, excluding PCI-E pins, but including the measurement of the cooling system (if it extends beyond the printed circuit board).
1 — height, taking into account the back plate (if any) or radiator mounting screws to the level of the upper surface of the cooling system. If it is lower than the height of the back bar of the video output ports, then the height is measured to the top of the bar.
The Palit video card turned out to be quite large. This is especially noticeable in thickness. Instead of the standard 35-40 mm, the company decided to take two and a half expansion slots, but at the same time used the extra thickness for the benefit of cooling. The CO radiator is very thick and efficient.
Openings on the back for hot air outlet. Such a simple and elegant step allows you to additionally remove heat from the case. It is not clear why other manufacturers neglect such an elementary solution.
True, we had to sacrifice the second DVI port, instead of which DisplayPort appeared. In total, the JetStream version provides the ability to connect up to five monitors: DVI, three DisplayPort and MiniHDMI 2.0.
PCB
It’s worth noting that Palit’s engineers drew inspiration from the GeForce GTX 980 Ti reference PCB template.
So much the better for us, the power system was not affected and the PWM converters remained standard.
A total of eight power phases are allocated for the GPU, made using Dr. MOS technology. Coils migrated from the reference printed circuit board. We will probably hear them again during the noise test. Two more phases are used for memory chips.
The phases on the video card are real, without doublers or parallel connection. Therefore, in total, such a circuit will provide more than 600 watts of power. Let me remind you that the reference version consumes only 275 W — there is more than double the power reserve. Why do you need such a powerful power supply system? The answer lies at the end of the video card.
If necessary, the Palit GeForce GTX 980 Ti Super JetStream can disable current and maximum voltage protection. Another good news for overclockers is that the place where the protections are removed is not covered by a warranty sticker. Carefully removing the resistor is a matter of five minutes. Nearby there is a «ground», and + 5V, and + 12V. Well, voltage measurement points are a logical step towards a complete overclocker set.
Is Palit really serious about adapting top video cards for overclocking on freon and nitrogen? It seems that yes, but so far there are not so many overclocking results. Perhaps later such models will be of interest to well-known masters of their craft.
It has already been mentioned above that the Palit version is not far from the reference design of the GeForce GTX 980 Ti. Therefore, one should not be surprised to find the NCP 81174 PWM controller familiar to all Maxwell video cards.
The video card is powered by two connectors: 8pin and 6pin. The margin of safety of the chains is sufficient, the only problem is that manufacturers rarely leave users the opportunity to use it completely.
Twelve SK Hynix R2C memory chips, rated at 1750 MHz, located on the front side.
GM200 GPU assembled on a substrate in 2015, 19 weeks to be exact. The declared frequencies of the video card: 1152 MHz (GPU Boost up to 1241 MHz), memory — 7000 MHz (nominal 1750 MHz).
