The PS4 Pro was released back in 2016, so finding a GPU equivalent to it these days isn’t going to set you back much cash. If you’re looking for some modern alternatives which are great for those on a budget, we’ve got you covered. Check out the PS4 Pro equivalent graphics cards we’re showing off right here in this article.

GPU equivalent to the PS4 Pro

Although something like the GTX 1060 may be truly closer to the PS4 Pro’s performance, the RTX 3050 and the RX 6500 XT work well as more modern equivalents to the PS4 Pro. The RTX 3050 has 2560 shader units and is designed with an 8nm process size. Like the RX 6500 XT, it features a size of 6 nm, 4 GB of VRAM, and 1024 shader units.

The RX 6500 XT would certainly be better suited for 1080p than 1440p, whereas the RTX 3050 is a little more capable if you wish – we’d still recommend sticking to 1080p though. Both GPUs are from the latest generations of GPUs. Ampere in the case of the RTX 3000-XT as well as RDNA 2.0 on the 6500XT. This PS4 Pro GPU was manufactured in 2016 as a component of the GCN 2.0 architecture, so it was manufactured prior to the two GPUs by a significant amount. However, because of their nature, SoC (System on a Chip) GPUs are highly designed for the specific games that they’re playing.

PS4 Pro GPU equivalent performance

If you’re thinking of building a system with similar performance to the PS4 Pro, the RTX 3050 and the RX 6500 XT are the most suitable for this. In reality, it’s probable that they’ll perform better than the PS4 Pro. This is a console that was released several years before these GPUs.

The PS4 can play games at 1080p at 30 frames per second (while this isn’t completely accurate, it’s a good enough representation of its capabilities). In terms of a graphics card, it is said that the GTX 1050 Ti can play at 1080p at 30 FPS in a snap, or perhaps at a higher setting than the PS4. If you pair this with a 6-core Intel processor, the PC might be similar to the PS4 in terms of performance. However, due to the cost of motherboards that support 8th generation chips, it’s a good idea to use Ryzen 5 1600.

Should I buy a more modern GPU?

Buying a more modern GPU is a great idea if you want to future-proof your gaming PC. Entry-level cards still deliver fantastic performance, even above the level of the PS4 Pro.

What GPU is equivalent to PS4?

The PS4 strives to achieve 1080p at 30 FPS. Considering that several newer consoles have been introduced since the console’s 2013 release, it is somewhat out of date. What graphics card is, therefore, comparable to the PS4? Exclusively that will be covered in this post.

It is unfair to compare a PS4 to a PC graphics card. The games that are released on the hardware are tuned for the power of the GPU that was specifically designed for the system.

That is not the case with PCs because they can be combined in an unlimited number of ways with a wide variety of CPUs and GPUs.

What GPU is equivalent to PS4?

The PS4 GPU is roughly comparable to the AMD Radeon 7850 or Nvidia GTX 750 Ti. On paper, these can seem comparable, but in practice, things work differently.

The AMD Radeon 7850 and Nvidia GTX 750 Ti are both highly-dated graphics processors. For this reason, we advise purchasing an Nvidia GTX 1050 or the more recent GTX 1650. You have the option of choosing the RX 570 or RX 6500 XT from AMD. All of these graphics cards will perform better than the PS4 and be able to play games at 1080p at 60 frames per second on moderate settings.

The PS4’s base model has a throughput of 1.84 Teraflops. The same is true with the console’s small version. The AMD Radeon 7850 has a throughput of 1.7 Teraflops, whereas the Nvidia GTX 750 Ti has a throughput of 1.4 Teraflops. On paper, the performance appears to be relatively similar, but in practice, it can differ from game to game.

Although most games are restricted to 30 frames per second, the PS4 is capable of 1080p resolution. Competitive games may be played at 1080p 60 FPS on both the Nvidia GTX 750 Ti and AMD Radeon 7850 when the settings are set to low or medium.

Please be aware that graphics card prices currently range widely, making it challenging to get one for the MSRP. We do not advise purchasing graphics cards for twice or three times the MSRP.
