Corsair CX450 PSU Review: Two Flavors, Tested And Compared — Tom’s Hardware

Tom’s Hardware Verdict

Of the two variants of Corsair’s CX450, the Great Wall version is more efficient than CWT’s, especially under light loads, and has a more efficient 5VSB rail. It uses a rifle bearing fan and has a more-aggressive fan profile. But since you can’t choose which manufacturer’s version you get, we had to award this PSU the lower score of the two variants. Regardless, this is a very good PSU for its price.

Features & Specifications

Corsair’s budget-oriented CX450 is unique in that it’s manufactured by two different OEMs—Great Wall and Channel Well Technology (CWT)—each of which uses a distinct platform. The only way to tell them apart is by their RPS numbers, reference designators given to each model. Both configurations share the CX450’s principal weakness: fixed cables. However, they both utilize modern platforms featuring LLC resonant converters and voltage regulation modules, along with high-quality fans.

Priced at $49.99 on Corsair’s website (and cheaper elsewhere), Corsair’s CX450 isn’t the cheapest name-brand 450W power supply out there. That honor goes to EVGA’s 450 BT with a list price of $45 (and a street price closer to $30). Although the 450 BT is a solid option, it’s based on an outdated platform, comes equipped with a lower-quality sleeve bearing fan and includes a three-year warranty. Meanwhile, Corsair covers the CX450 with five years of protection. It’s worth spending the extra money for a more modern design and extra warranty coverage.

Corsair has a habit of quietly updating its products without changing their names, but still improving them. As a result, it’s sometimes difficult to distinguish between the older and newer designs. Further complicating matters, if you buy the PSU online there’s no telling if you have Great Wall’s or CWT’s version. Fortunately, there’s not much difference between their performance. Noise output is another matter entirely, though.

The aforementioned RPS numbers help with identification. Corsair CX450s that CWT made are stamped with RPS0053, while the ones Great Wall made say RPS0063. Since we have both versions in our lab, we tested them side-by-side to determine if one is better than the other.

Specifications

On paper, the specifications of both platforms are identical. The only notable difference is their fans: CWT’s is technically a higher-quality model.

A five-year warranty is on the long side for a budget power supply. Plus, all of the protection features we’d expect from a name-brand PSU are there. Moreover, we’re big proponents of the CX450’s 143mm depth measurement, which makes it fairly compact.

The minor rails offer up to 110W combined power, though they’re capable of much more in practice. Meanwhile, the +12V rail can deliver the PSU’s full power on its own. This is a clear indication that both platforms utilize DC-DC converters for generating the minor rails. And at a maximum of 15W, the 5VSB rail serves up sufficient capacity.

There is only one PCIe connector available. After all, the CX PSUs are mostly for office PCs with integrated graphics engines or low-end discrete boards. Still, it’d be nice to see Corsair offer a couple of PCIe connectors since the CX450 has enough capacity to support them (particularly since there’s only one EPS (entry-level power supply specification) connector, too). You don’t get a ton of SATA connectivity, though four connectors should be plenty for a $45 PSU. Meanwhile, the four-pin Molex connectors are all made available through a single cable.

Overall, we’re satisfied with the cable lengths. However, the distance between four-pin Molex connectors should be at least 15cm.

Features & Specifications

We’ve been wondering when a power supply manufacturer would come up with a product able to match the performance of Corsair’s AX1500i. Now more than three years old, the AX1500i remains unrivaled in our benchmark results thanks to its advanced digital platform.

The company loves a challenge, though. Not willing to wait for the competition to catch up, Corsair is ready to extend its advantage even further. If you ask us, it’s strange to spend time and money on a new PSU when the existing one is already class-leading. But Corsair apparently wants to show everyone that it has the know-how and necessary partners to rock this industry at will.

Enter the AX1600i. We’re naturally expecting great things from this model, given what we measured from the AX1500i. Currently, the best 1600W PSU is EVGA’s 1600 T2, and it’s based on an analog Super Flower platform. So of course we’re anxious to see how that holds up to an all-digital architecture.

The 80 PLUS program starts looking obsolete in the context of advanced PSUs like this one. Even the organization’s highest rating (Titanium) cannot fully describe the potential of modern digital platforms. For now, they’re lumped into the same category as older ones. Thankfully, Cybenetics’ ETA efficiency standard has a higher level (ETA-A++) that the AX1600i cannot reach. In three or four years, we think we’ll start seeing PSUs capable of hitting that level’s requirements. It’ll take fully digital converters on every rail though, including 5VSB.

Corsair’s big milestone with the AX1600i is switching from silicon to gallium nitride FETs. Due to their extremely low gate charge and output capacitance, GaN FETs can be switched at extremely high speeds with reduced switching losses and improved efficiency compared to silicon ones. Moreover, GaN FETs offer up to 40% more power density than their silicon counterparts, and their faster switching speeds help minimize the dimensions of other components, especially transformers.

This diagram illustrates a typical PSU’s major blocks. As you can see, there is a power factor correction stage that optimizes power grid efficiency. The PFC circuit operates as a boost converter, providing a DC output voltage close to 380V. This voltage needs to be stepped down, of course, to provide a DC bus supply that the system can utilize. A number of topologies are viable for this stage, but inductor-inductor-capacitor (LLC) and phase-shifted full-/half-bridge are commonly used to generate a bus voltage of 12V. Afterwards, the 12V rail is routed throughout the system, undergoing multiple conversion steps to power CPUs, GPUs, memory, storage, and more.

GaN introduces some major differences compared to a SI-based solution, illustrated in the diagram above. The PSU’s architecture and density change due to the special features of GaN components.

  • PFC: By enabling a totem-pole topology, GaN devices reduce the number of active power switches (FETs) and filtering inductors by 50%. Moreover, a significant increase in switching frequency, which can reach up to 10x, significantly reduces the size of magnetics while improving overall efficiency to over 99% (versus 96% for today’s Titanium-class power supplies).
  • LLC Resonant Converter: The DC/DC stage takes advantage of GaN’s superior switching characteristics to push the resonant converter switching frequencies to over 1 MHz. A higher frequency reduces transformer size, while improving power density and efficiency.
  • Point of Load (PoL) DC/DC: GaN has a major impact on those converters. First, it enables a single step conversion from 36-60V in order to power your hardware, reducing the number of components needed and enabling smaller PSUs. Additionally, the smaller footprint of a GaN-based solution allows designers to easily stack the power stages for different load demands and place them close to the load for better/faster transient performance. This means that there is no need for multiple rail outputs (12V, 5V, and 3.3V), which currently impose a two-step conversion. From a single voltage output, the individual components are able to generate all required voltages. Nowadays, most components have their own DC-DC converters. But they don’t all use the same voltage. With GaN-based solutions, those components can generate the needed rails from a single, higher voltage rail without increased losses, all while using fewer components in a more compact chassis.

It is easy to foresee that GaN-based solutions and digital circuits are the future of PSUs. Thanks to the new topologies emerging and their higher capacities, we might soon see a PSU with over 94% efficiency (115V) throughout its operational range. Such a product would satisfy the Cybenetics ETA-A++ requirements. If you want to dive deeper into GaN, you will find more info here and here.

Specifications

Besides 80 PLUS Titanium and ETA-A+ efficiency certifications, Corsair’s AX1600i also carries a LAMBDA-A badge for its low noise output. The suite of protection features is comprehensive, and you’re able to disable/enable the semi-passive fan mode. Plus, it’s possible to pick between three fan profiles or set a fixed rotational speed through the bundled Corsair Link software.

Despite what GaN FETs enable, this model’s dimensions are typical of what you’d expect from a 1.6kW PSU. A 10-year warranty is impressive, though. Currently, only Seasonic dares to offer an even longer warranty on its Prime family. Finally, the 450 bucks price is intimidating, that’s for sure, but this is the best performing PSU and its cutting-edge platform has a high production cost.

The minor rails are overkill, reminding us of a previous era when most system components relied on 5V instead of the 12V rail.

Speaking of the 12V rail, it offers monstrous capacity, delivering up to 1600W or 133.3A of current. We did expect a more capable 5VSB rail, though 3.5A should be enough in most cases.

Corsair gives you lots of cables and connectors, since 1600W has to be distributed among them. Six of the PCIe connectors are hosted on dedicated cables, while the other four are on two cables using a typical daisy-chain scheme. There are 16 SATA connectors and nine Molex ones, along with a couple of FDD adapters for anyone still requiring Berg connectors.

Cable length is satisfactory, though the distance between peripheral connectors is too small. Corsair should leave at least 15cm, especially between the four-pin Molex connectors.

As expected, the PCIe cables have some wires that are thicker than typical 18AWG ones for lower voltage drops under high loads. Both EPS connectors consist of only 16AWG wires, while the ATX connector also uses some 16AWG wires.

Power Distribution

Through the Corsair Link application, you can enable over-current protection for each of the 10 eight-pin sockets into which the PCIe and EPS cables are plugged. You can also set OCP on the other sockets, used by the 24-pin ATX, peripheral, and SATA connectors. This means that power distribution is optimal. It’s also possible to define a custom OCP level, with the maximum being 40A for each virtual rail.

Our only complaint is that all rails are labeled as PCIe in Corsair’s software, and there is no indication of which rails handle the peripheral and 24-pin ATX connectors. Obviously, Corsair Link needs an update in order to fully support the AX1600i.

10 Best Power Supply Unit (PSU) Brands for PC Computers

Building a PC can be complicated and technical work. Although the power supply unit (PSU) is one component that seems simple, it is still an important element for building a reliable and efficient computer.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

You won’t have to worry about compatibility issues between your PSU and your GPU or CPU for example, but that doesn’t mean you should overlook your power unit entirely.

The amount of raw power a PSU can provide is of course important, but so is efficiency and other practical issues like how well it will fit inside your existing PC’s form factor.

We’ll start by discussing the biggest and best PSU brands in the industry and then dig a little deeper into the exact specs you should be paying attention to when shopping for a PC power supply unit.

Note that the list below is in no particular order. All of the brands below are solid and reliable so whichever you choose you will not go wrong.

Table of Contents

  • Recommended PSU Models

Recommended PSU Models

  1. Great Overall Value for Money: Corsair RMX Series
  2. Best Budget PSU: EVGA 500 W1
  3. Best for Gaming PC: Seasonic FOCUS GX-850
  4. Best for Quiet Operation: be quiet! Straight Power 11

EVGA is best known for developing impressive graphics cards (GeForce models) that push the limits of the latest technology, but they’ve also earned a reputation for creating power supplies that can sustain truly beastly gaming rigs.

The efficiency of their PSUs is especially praised – and that’s in part due to the fact that they employ fully modular designs on most of their models.

They also employ a technology known as an Active Clamp Circuit to recycle a majority of leaked energy, and their PSUs depend on consistently reliable Japanese capacitors for even better reliability.

EVGA maintains a robust catalog, allowing you to find a sensible option regardless of your demands of your budget.

Corsair is a leader in the PSU market, but most of their manufacturing is done by another company known as Seasonic (see this brand below).

Fortunately, Seasonic is as meticulous in the manufacturing process of the PSUs they make for Corsair as they are with the ones they make for their own brand.

But that means that you might want to perform a little more due diligence when investing in a Corsair PSU.

They buy their PSUs from other manufacturers, and that means that the quality can vary some depending on the model.

Fortunately, their expansive catalog of power supplies means you’ll have a lot of options to choose from.

Corsair is a big name in the gaming community and sells everything from keyboards to headsets.

Cooler Master is a brand synonymous with crafting the most effective fans, cooling systems and cases available in the PC builder market, but they’ve only recently begun to build their own power supply units.

The verdict is still out on how they stand up next to more established names, and it will of course take some time before they fully bolster their catalog with a range of power options.

But the early results are promising. Their PSU models make use of copper screws instead of soldering in many places to make for a sturdier design — and of course they place an emphasis on offering as much efficiency as possible while minimizing the thermal footprint of the power source.

When other popular brands are selling your exact products under a different name, you know you’re doing well.

That’s the case with Seasonic — a brand that’s become synonymous with power supply units because that’s the bulk of what they do.

And while the quality of models can vary depending on the price and the specs, this is the rare PSU brand that doesn’t have any below average units in its catalog.

The brand is primarily focused on power supply units, but they also offer power solutions scaled to the needs of industrial consumers and a selection of PC cases that can pair very well with their PSU models.

There are only three different PSUs in MSI’s MPG line, but the Taiwanese tech company is confident enough in their quality that they’re willing to back them with a 10-year warranty.

That confidence speaks volumes, but it also reflects a design that exclusively makes use of high-quality Japanese capacitors and offers efficient cooling while still maintaining a compact form factor.

But the small things really set these models apart. That includes the flat cabling designed to simplify the organization of your PC case and port connectors designed to flexibly suit a variety of different GPU configurations.

Thermaltake doesn’t usually top the lists of the most beloved PSU manufacturers, but they’ve been consistently putting out quality power supplies a little more under the radar for a long time.

Whether you’re looking for a simple and modular 500-watt PSU or a pricey 1200 watt PSU with blinking gaming lights, there’s probably something in their catalog that’s tailored specifically to your niche.

Their efficiency rating can also scale based off of what you need. Thermaltake’s extensive product line offers full coverage for the various tiers of 80 PLUS efficiency standards as well.

If what you want is variety, you’ll find no shortage of it in Antec’s catalog. They maintain roughly a dozen different PSU lines that cover the gamut from the low cost and energy efficient Earthwatts line all the way up to the beefy High Current Gamer Extreme series.

The show piece here is the HCG 1000: a powerful thousand-watt gaming PSU with a DC to DC converter design and a max energy efficiency of 92%.

While every product here isn’t a slam dunk, Antec’s quality is overall impressive — and they also make a wide range of cooling fans and PC cases too.

If there’s a component that can help reduce overheating on your PC case, chances are that Enermax produces it.

They produce nine different series of PSUs with efficiency ratings ranging from 80 Plus Bronze to 80 Plus Titanium.

The breadth of options here is staggering, leaving you with precise options for practically any build or setup you could want.

Among the best PSU lines produced by Enermax is the Revolution D.F. — a powerful but lean power supply that’s powerful enough to match the needs of the latest gaming specs but also manages to operate with practically no noise at all.

You’re likely most familiar with ASUS’ line of laptops, but they’ve gone to one of the biggest names in the industry when it comes to designing their PSUs — Seasonic.

The starting point for ASUS’ power supply units are Seasonic’s highly praised Prime series, but they didn’t stop there.

These inclusions are a grab bag of practical and aesthetic effects that range from extended heat sinks to RGB lighting to LED screens for monitoring the internal specs.

These PSUs are built on proven technology and even expand on them, but they tend to be on the pricier end of the market as a result.

The main advantage of Be quiet! PSUs is right in the name. While the power supplies range in quality from the top shelf Dark Power 12 all the way down to the budget-priced TFX Power 3, these are each some of the quietest PSUs in their respective classes.

Be quiet! doesn’t produce their PSUs in house, but they rely on dependable manufacturers like the FSP Group to build the components to their specifications.

Be quiet! also produces coolers, fans, and PC cases that are designed to minimize heat while staying nearly silent even during high workloads.

Important PSU Specs to Evaluate

While the brands listed above are ranked as the best PSU producers, most of the larger brands include a range of products that can vary from mediocre to exceptional.

In other words, you should do a little homework on a specific model if you want to make sure that your PC is equipped with the best power supply.

These are the specs to pay attention to when shopping for one.

Power Output:

The typical power supply can have an output ranging from 450 to 1600 watts, but this isn’t a situation where more is better.

Ideally, you’ll want a wattage that’s as close as possible to the demands of your specific build as possible.

Fortunately, there are numerous online calculators where you can plug in your computer specs and determine your ideal wattage.

Rails:

These deliver voltage from your power supply to your computer, and there are usually three which are each calibrated to carry a different voltage level (+3.3V, +5V and +12V).

Most PC users can just invest in a typical three-rail PSU without having to worry about more details, but there are alternatives.

Single-rail PSUs are ideal for overclocking gaming rigs, while PSUs with more than three rails can greatly minimize the risk of a shortage.

Modularity:

Convenience is the main advantage of a modular PSU, and it’s increasingly becoming the standard in the industry.

Fully modular power supply units feature fully detachable cables to minimize the clutter and allow them to seat more easily in your PC case.

Most PSUs will have at least some detachable cables — but fully non-modular PSUs have the advantage of being very cheap.

Cooling:

It’s rare to find a PSU that doesn’t come with its own internal cooling system in the form of a self-powered fan.

You typically don’t want to invest in a fan that’s larger than 140 mm or smaller than 120 mm, but larger fans allow for more efficient cooling while making much less noise.

A good internal fan can dramatically improve the lifespan of your PC, but it should be paired with other internal cooling systems like case fans for the best results.

Form Factor:

Fortunately, form factor for PSUs is relatively basic. Most will meet the standards of ATX, micro-ATX, or mini-ATX specifications, and it’s simply a matter of finding the one that suits your specific computer case.

PSU Ratings (Efficiency Ratings)

Apart from the specs listed above, there’s a formal system of PSU ratings that help evaluate the efficiency of a particular unit.

Investing in a PSU that bears the 80 Plus certification is generally recommended, as it ensures that you’ll get at least 80% efficiency from the energy your PSU produces.

Fortunately, it’s pretty rare to even find power supplies that don’t meet the 80 Plus standard.

PSUs that meet these standards for certification are further broken down into a number of tiers to more accurately evaluate their efficiency.

  • 80 Plus Bronze: Efficiency of 82 to 85%
  • 80 Plus Silver: Efficiency of 85 to 88%
  • 80 Plus Gold: Efficiency of 87 to 90%
  • 80 Plus Platinum: Efficiency of 89 to 92%
  • 80 Plus Titanium: Efficiency of 90 to 94%

The best power supplies (PSU) for your PC in 2021 — Accessories

Tiffany Garrett

Accessories

The Best Power Supply for Your PC This is the most important part of your PC build since it is what is responsible for providing power to the entire system. It is important to choose a power supply from a reputable brand that has enough capacity to power your PC. Here is a collection of our favorite recommendations.

  • Best Smart: NZXT E850
  • Best Overall: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 650W

    Staffing

This 650W SuperNOVA P2 from EVGA is completely modular, allowing for the required cabling only. It also has an economy mode and a platinum-rated badge that suits even enthusiasts. EVGA also provides a full 10-year warranty on this power supply. That’s all you need to build a PC with the latest AMD or NVIDIA GPU.

    • $140 at Newegg

    Runner-up: Seasonic Focus 550W

Seasonic is a famous brand in the PSU industry. The company not only sells its own power supplies, but other manufacturers use their platforms for competing power supplies. The Focus series is Seasonic’s line of midrange powerhouses and this 550W unit is more than enough for most PCs. It’s semi-modular, rated 80 Plus Gold, and delivers consistent power to all your components.

    • $80 at Amazon
    • $95 at Newegg

Best Value: Corsair CX Series CX 450W

Corsair’s more affordable 450W power supply lacks fancier features such as modular cabling allows you to reduce the price to an absolute minimum. Sure, it’s cheaper than other PSUs on the market and the efficiency rating isn’t the best, but it’s a safe bet for an ATX PC on a budget. The CX450 proves that you don’t need to spend big money on a decent power supply.

Top Enthusiast: Rest easy! Dark Power Pro 12 1000W

We really only recommend 500W to 850W for a single GPU gaming PC, but if you want to seriously overclock, plan to add a second GPU, or have a ton of accessories to work inside your rig, it might be a good idea. get a PSU like be quiet! Dark Force Pro 12. It is very expensive, incredibly efficient, well built and has a lot of power. It is also protected by a 10 year warranty.

    • $280 at Amazon
    • $280 at Newegg

    Best Smart: NZXT E850

NZXT’s E-series power supplies use Seasonic internals along with NZXT’s CAM monitoring software. They provide trouble-free operation thanks to high-quality equipment and have a 10-year warranty. NZXT and Seasonic make a powerful duo for the ATX compatible PC. With its sometimes very loud fan, this 850W PSU is great for everyday work and enthusiasts alike.

    $165 at NZXT

    Choosing the Best PSU

It’s hard to choose a good PSU for your build as there are many from reputable companies. PCs do need around 500W with a single dedicated GPU, and a 1000W PSU from an unknown brand probably won’t be as good as an 850W option from the likes of Corsair. That said, the EVGA SuperNOVA P2 650W solution is a great all-rounder.

We strongly recommend that you avoid saving too much money. It is better to spend a little more on this component in order to get a device that has the necessary protective features, as well as high reliability and support from the manufacturer. Just remember one thing when shopping: power isn’t everything. Don’t pick the highest number you see.

The best power supply for your PC is extremely important to the long-term stability and reliability of your system. Unfortunately, PC PSUs receive little attention compared to more talked about components such as graphics cards and processors. It does not help that the PSU market is flooded with products from manufacturers that use low-quality components. You can choose a high-quality and efficient power supply only if you have the necessary knowledge. Our review presents models of proven PSUs from reliable manufacturers. There are also recommendations for choosing the device you need.

The new Chieftec Polaris range consists of three models from 550W to 750W. All are 80 PLUS Gold certified, and the most powerful member of the range (this model) is also certified by Cybenetics, achieving ETA-A efficiency and LAMBDA-Standard++ noise levels. Given the efficiency of this platform, louder operation was expected, but Chieftec is a German company, and the Germans are known to prefer silent PC components. The noise level of LAMBDA-Standard++ is not bad. The Chieftec Polaris Series 750 W, or PS-750FC, is fully modular and is made by High Power, a pretty good OEM, especially in the mid-range.

        Chieftec BDF-750C 750W

The appearance of the CHIEFTEC PROTON BDF-750C can’t be called remarkable — it looks like an ordinary modular ATX source. The length of the modular cables is 160 mm. A large 135 mm turntable (on the official website it is designated as 140 mm) occupies almost the entire bottom panel. It is covered with a removable grill, and closer to the edges there was a place for four mounting screws. The main sticker indicates that a maximum of 750 watts can be squeezed out of the device, and all of them are available on the same + 12V line. Such a high load capacity of this channel (99.5-100%) is typical for absolutely all solutions of the CHIEFTEC PROTON line. The smaller +5V and +3.3V lines are also capable of putting out an incredible 120W, which is enough for the needs of a modern computer.

      • 79)

The new RM750x is clearly better than the previous version, offering similar performance in a compact chassis and a quiet fan profile. The icing on the cake is the presence of two EPS connectors, which make this PSU compatible with power-hungry platforms. The second generation Corsair RM750x retains the same look and feel, so the only way to tell it apart from its predecessor is to compare their size. The new model has a depth of 16 cm, while the old one is 18 cm. It can be said that the RM750x aims to be one of the most compact 750W devices.

TOP 3 best budget power supplies for a computer

Simple desktop computers work well with PSUs up to 400 watts. They are enough for the stable operation of the processor and the entry-level integrated or discrete graphics card, as well as for connecting peripherals. The 300W models are best suited for simple replacement options for new PCs and the PSU of older PCs. Devices with power from 400 to 450w can already be used in advanced systems, including those that can handle simple games.

HIPER HPP-500 is a good budget option that has APFC and a sufficient set of connectors. It uses ChengX brand capacitors. In particular, there is a 180 uF capacitor on the input rectifier. For the 500-watt version, this seems not enough. On the other hand, since it is equipped with an active bandwidth equalizer, the input current fluctuation should be much lower, which reduces the power requirement. The bundles of cables coming out of the device are quite long. There are five in total. Only the main one has a braid, the rest goes «as is». Two branches for peripherals with a length of 80 cm: the first is MOLEX, the second is SATA. An active equalizer can smooth out your computer’s power consumption and reduce peak currents.

        R-Senda SD-2000W

The model is made in a standard form factor and can fit into a spacious case. This is a PSU that is similar to the ATX variants, but somewhat longer. It has a complete set of power cables and allows you to connect many different types of devices. To connect video cards, the manufacturer has implemented as many as sixteen 6 + 2-pin connectors — two each on eight cables 60 cm long to the nearest connector. Additional connectors are represented by a set of cables with ten SATA connectors with a distance of 50 and 60 cm (depending on the cable) and eight Molex connectors with a distance of 60 cm. The R-Senda SD-2000W PSU is a good option for mining systems in terms of price / quality ratio. It has a high-quality component base, good cooling, thick wires (which is very important for round-the-clock operation), as well as low cost.

The ZM1200-EBT is fully modular, meaning every cable is detachable, including the main 24-pin ATX cable. With the exception of the 24-pin cable, the rest are «flat» type ribbon cables with black wires and plugs. The 24-pin, on the other hand, consists of ordinary colored wires, black connectors and is wrapped in a black nylon braid. ROG Thor 1200W is well suited for users. You won’t find a quieter device in this power range. And the OLED screen makes this PSU stand out from the competition even more. Asus asked Seasonic to make a number of modifications to the Prime Platinum platform, the most important of which is the installation of a microcontroller, which, in addition to the digital interface, is also responsible for the circuitry that provides power consumption data. In this Asus model, all heatsinks have been replaced with larger ones to give optimal airflow, resulting in reduced acoustic noise. All components used in this platform are of high quality, and what is especially nice is the ball bearing cooler, which is much more resistant to heat compared to FDB.
