How to fix Samsung Magician won’t recognize SSD error

If you can’t get Samsung Magician to detect your SSD, this article will help you with a list of proven troubleshooting steps. Below is a set of methods that other users in a similar situation have used to resolve the issue.

2. At an elevated command prompt, type the following command and press Enter:

   bcdedit / set {current} safeboot minimal

   Note: If the command is not recognized, try the following: bcdedit / set minimal safeboot

3. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS settings at the next boot.
4. In the BIOS settings, change the SATA mode (or SATA mode) to AHCI, save the changes, and exit the BIOS.
5. Open another elevated command prompt (after step 1) and type the following command:

   bcdedit / deletevalue {current} safeboot

   Note: If the command is not recognized, try the following: bcdedit / deletevalue safeboot

6. Restart your computer again. The next time you start your computer, it should boot with AHCI drivers enabled. Once startup is complete, open Samsung Magician and see if your SSD is recognized.

Method 5: Checking the power requirements of your SSD

Some users have reported that there are certain models of Samsung SSDs that require more power than standard USB 3.0 ports can provide. This becomes a problem if you are using a USB 3. 0 to SATA adapter to connect your SSD.
