Everything is like in most shooters, only the nanosuit makes the game stand out from the crowd

What impression did the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo have on one of our readers? And we remind you that the GameWay feedback contest continues.

On March 1st, PC gamers waited for a demo version of this highly controversial game to appear. Having played enough, it’s time to draw conclusions about whether the developers were able to fulfill their promises, which sounded so impressive and convincing.

Perhaps, first I would like to touch on the topic of graphic content Crysis 2 , because this is what Crytek games are famous for. The game is based on the CryEngine 3 engine, which, according to the developers, should surprise us with an unprecedented beauty picture. Did the developers deliver on their promise? I think it would be possible to say “yes!” with confidence if the demo had the opportunity to delve into the graphic settings of the game in detail.

But, alas, in the “Video Setting” section, we were only allowed to change the quality level of the picture. There are only 3 levels — Gamer, Advanced, Hardcore. Gamer is recommended to be enabled on very weak machines, and Advanced and Hardcore for stronger ones. There are no special differences in the picture between Advanced and Hardcore, therefore, if your FPS sags, you can calmly lower the graphics settings to medium. I think that in the full version of the game we will be allowed to rummage through the settings, adjust anti-aliasing, anisotope filtering and other goodies, since for a project of this level it is simply not solid to have such meager settings.

In the demo, we weren’t even allowed to use DX11. I played at the maximum graphics settings and I can say with confidence that the graphics are good — the textures look just fine, the special effects are sea and they are at a high level, the picture is very juicy. But there are also disadvantages — the draw distance is a bit muddy, water rendering is worse. I think in the full version these disadvantages will be corrected by detailed graphics settings.

The multiplayer part of the game also pleased. Even though the multiplayer is similar to many other shooters, nevertheless, it is distinguished from the rest by a nanosuit that radically changes the gameplay itself. In multiplayer mode, you can use 3 functions of the suit — movement speed, increased protection of the suit (strength), invisibility. The balance is excellent, there are surprisingly few campers, and camping here is not particularly successful, despite the possibility of invisibility — stop for 30 seconds even in the darkest corner and, most likely, you will be found and shot during this time. AT Crysis 2 contains elements of parkour, so even the most avid campers have no desire to sit in the corners. For a series of murders, we are given awards, which involuntarily resembles Call of Duty.

There are two modes in the demo version of the game — «Team desmatch» and «Capture points». There are also two cards. Despite the fact that they are quite small, it is very difficult to be a sniper here — there are a lot of shelters on the maps, and because the game makes you run actively, snipers remain in the “span”.

Speaking of classes, there are three of them — attack aircraft, sniper and scout.
