Which graphics cards are better?

NVIDIA TITAN Xp | Review and testing of video cards NVIDIA

At the beginning of April 2017, unexpectedly for its fans, NVIDIA announced the release of the next most powerful graphics accelerator in the world — TITAN Xp , thereby «writing off» the most powerful TITAN X Pascal until recently. Why the novelty received the name «Xp» — the company does not explain.

Externally, the new video card completely copies the already mentioned TITAN X Pascal. Interestingly, even the inscription on the case remained the same, and does not have a lowercase «r», as on the box. The cooling system has not changed either — a radiator with an evaporation chamber and a fan were inherited from the previous Titan.

The novelty is based on a full-featured GP102-450-A1 chip of the Pascal graphic architecture, endowed with or more stream processors than the TITAN X — 3840. The same number of processors has a professional Quadro P6000 solution.

NVIDIA TITAN Xp contains 224 texture units. Along with this, the video card is endowed with 96 raster operations units and 11 gigabytes of GDDR5X video memory with a data transfer rate of 11.4 Gb / s. The width of the memory bus remained the same as that of the «TITAN X» — 384 bits. The bandwidth of the memory subsystem is 547. 7 gigabits per second. The clock frequency in Boost mode is at around 1582 MHz, which allows computing power to reach 12 TFLOPS.

Power consumption of the new product is 250 W. The manufacturer’s recommended power supply for the system is 600 watts. The video card requires a pair of 6- and 8-pin auxiliary power connectors. The graphics card dimensions are as follows: 4.376 inches high, 10.5 inches long, and 2 slots wide.

Tested in 3DMark Fire Strike, , TITAN Xp outperforms GeForce GTX 1080 Ti by about 3-5%. And over TITAN X Pascal, on average, up to 10%.

The price tag for NVIDIA TITAN Xp is at the same level as the once TITAN X, namely $1200. In Russian rubles, the cost is 88900. The novelty will be sold only in those markets where it is possible to purchase through the NVIDIA online store. The new model is positioned, first of all, as a video card for professional use, and is aimed at those who are not ready to pay a “tidy” sum for a Quadro or Tesla.
