Home Hardware ZeroLemon Galaxy S4 7500mAh Extended Battery Review

Introduction
Need more juice power from your Samsung Galaxy S4? Try out the world highest capacity battery for Galaxy S4 at 7500 mAh from ZeroLemon. Yup, that’s almost 3X larger than stock battery. No worry about running out of battery when playing games or watching movie on your Galaxy S4 now, right? Let’s find out…

ZeroLemon Galaxy S4 7500mAh Extended Battery

  • Battery: Length: 13.9cm / Width: 7.2cm / Thickness: 1.6cm
  • NFC Supported: Yes

Design

ZeroLemon Galaxy S4 7500mAh Extended Battery is not small and light (as expected). Therefore, you can’t use stock battery cover and case. So ZeroLemon has a custom made TPU case for you. There are 2 colours to choose – black and white. By applying a screen protector, you will have a fully covered protection on your Galaxy S4. Check out the case photos here – front, top, bottom and back. By the way, speaker sound is softer as redirect output from back to bottom.

Performance Review

18 hours and 33 minutes screen on. Yes, you can watch more than 10 movies with ZeroLemon Galaxy S4 7500mAh Extended Battery easily. That’s the result from benchmark that I ran – looping 1080p MP4 videos at maximum brightness and in airplane mode. Almost 3X performance when compare to stock battery with 6 hours and 31 minutes screen on (stock battery screenshot – 1, 2 & 3). Perfect add-on for hardcore gamers because you don’t need to swap battery. Or face the problem that can’t charge during intensive 3D gameplay (charging is not fast enough than battery draining when overheated). For normal usage, it can last for 4 to 5 days easily. No worry when you are away from power source, right? As for NFC, it is working perfectly.

Note – all the battery life benchmarks were ran after 5 cycles of fully discharge and recharge.

Conclusion
ZeroLemon Galaxy S4 7500mAh Extended Battery gives you 3X battery life performance than stock. NFC supported and with 180 Days Zero Lemon Guarantee. At $39.99, you can’t go wrong with it.

Battery Zero0 Capacity Review for Samsung Galaxy S4

2x bigger, 3x heavier phone, TPU back cover and working NFC.

The first thing I did when I bought the Galaxy S4 was looking for batteries that last longer than the original ones. My idea was to buy a Hyperion model of the same make as used on the SIII and I knew it was good. But shipping to Brazil was offensive. jokingly about DroidBR, suggested 9 battery0017 ZeroLemon 7.500 mAh.

After researching the brand’s mentions, I found some positive reviews on blogs from Android and also XDA. I didn’t think twice and bought mine on eBay. The total cost (battery + shipping) was about 125 reais. ZeroLemon has options for various devices such as Dass , Note II , Galaxy Nexus , Optimus G , among others.

The phrase I heard most often: «But the cell phone is a mess.» No doubt he stayed twice is more than and three times is the heaviest than with the original battery. But for those who use the phone intensively, I think this is one of the best alternatives. With intensive use of the Internet, music, games, until the battery drops below 40%.

Others said, «But I don’t live in the jungle, I’m always close to places with energy.» Well, it’s still true. I live in Sao Paulo where I can always find an outlet to charge my device. However, this is not my usage profile. I prefer not to depend on wires and sockets, especially on weekends when I like to leave the house without worrying about battery , wondering if she would last the rest of the day.

Last week I had a great example of how these batteries can help. I worked all day and at the end of the day I was going to travel. Since traffic in Sao Paulo was above average, we turned on the Waze on two devices and we tried alternative routes. We had a lot of problems at the airport and had to use a lot of 3G and also make a lot of calls. At the end of the «fun» I still had more than 50% battery , while other devices were below 10%….

Enough talk, let’s talk a little about the battery. I found the quality of ZeroLemon to be much higher than Hyperion . From the packaging used for shipping to the back cover. To use the battery, you need to remove the original back cover and replace it with a TPU cover. OUR battery takes the place of the original battery as well as the entire back of the device. OUR NFC it works fine. I think it’s better than talking to show with pictures.

In my opinion, a cell phone should serve what I like to do, it should be available without worrying about the load on the phone. battery . This should be hostage to my usage and not the battery limitations imposed by the manufacturers. we have already discussed here how our authors get around this issue. See the gallery below:

#read | Samsung Galaxy S4 breaks records with ZeroLemon battery

Samsung Galaxy S4 is known for one important difference from most flagship Android smartphones. It allows the user to change the battery himself. Smartphone manufacturers are extremely reluctant to use removable batteries. The fact is that the priority today is aesthetics, modern ideas about which are closely related to the thickness of the phone. Very thin phones are in vogue. But beauty, or rather following the current trend, deprives the user of the opportunity to replace the battery with a more capacious one. AnandTech reviewer Brian Klug tested the Samsung Galaxy S4 with the ZeroLemon extended battery and came to some interesting conclusions. The capacity of this battery is 7,500 milliamp-hours (mAh, mAh). The battery of the future is still in the works. Let’s look at what the industry has to offer today.

Testing was conducted using a Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition (SGS4 GPe) with native battery «on board» for comparison. So, the ZeroLemon 7500 mAh battery is much larger than the standard SGS4 smartphone battery, whose capacity is “only” 2600 mAh. Both lithium-ion polymer batteries are 3.8V and the increase in capacity of ZeroLemon is achieved by increasing its size.

Extended battery consists of two parts. The first «detail» in shape resembles a native battery, which is placed in the corresponding socket of the phone. The second is two enlarged cells that protrude from the back of the smartphone. And this means that another back panel is required.

ZeroLemon’s custom-sized rear panel is a rubberized cover that covers the power button and volume controls while still allowing them to be used. It has openings for the microphone, headset, IR Tx/Rx port, speakers, and the bottom microUSB port. The panel partially covers the Tx / Rx antenna and, theoretically, is able to attenuate the signal. In practice, during testing, a significant decrease in radio performance was not detected. The rear speaker is also covered.

It should be noted that the thickness and weight of the phone with extended battery increases significantly. To evaluate the order of magnitude, you should compare the physical parameters of the native and extended batteries. The Stock 2600’s stock battery is 7.94mm thick (including the back cover) and weighs 43.5 grams. The ZeroLemon battery is significantly bulkier at 132.3 grams and thicker at 17.0 millimeters.

3G/4G LTE Web Navigation

The first test tested the ability of the batteries of various smartphones to hold a charge while browsing the web using both cellular and Wi-Fi networks. The display brightness was set to exactly 200 nits, and the pages loaded on a schedule to ensure that the workload on all tested phones was the same.

Samsung Galaxy S4 with an extended ZeroLemon 7500 mAh battery (in this and subsequent graph this device corresponds to the sky blue stripe) lasted 2.7-2.8 times longer than its brother with the native battery (orange stripe), and Exactly 14.17 hours. The Apple iPhone 5 battery lasted only 8.4 hours of such a load. In this and the graphs below, on the left is the phone model, and on the right is the time in hours during which the battery held a charge.

Web navigation via Wi-Fi

ZeroLemon 7500 mAh batteries lasted 19.2 hours of Wi-Fi navigation. That is, it held a charge more than three times longer than a standard battery of the same phone.

Battery charging time from zero to 100%

An annoying feature of the extended battery is the truly gigantic time it takes to fully charge it. It took more than seven and a half hours to charge it with a «Samsung» two-amp charger. If you use a USB BC 1.2 charger, it will take more than twelve hours to charge the ZeroLemon’s voracious battery.

On the one hand, almost eight hours doesn’t sound very optimistic. On the other hand, it is this time that a person needs to sleep. Therefore, if you put the phone to charge at night, by morning it will be full of energy and ready to serve its user again.
