AMD released the third-generation Athlon, code-named «Palomino», on October 9, 2001 as the Athlon XP. The «XP» suffix is interpreted to mean extended performance and also as an unofficial
reference to Microsoft Windows XP.

Switch to the die picture page!

Palomino was the first K7 core to include the full SSE instruction set from the Intel Pentium III, as well as AMD’s 3DNow! Professional.
It is roughly 10% faster than Thunderbird at the same clock speed, thanks in part to the new SIMD functionality and to several additional
improvements.

An Athlon XP-M’s using a given core is physically identical to the equivalent desktop Athlon XPs counterpart, only differing by the configuration used to achieve a given performance level.
Processors are usually binned and selected to become a mobile processor by their ability run a given processor speed while supplied with a lower (than desktop) voltage. This results in lower
power consumption, longer battery life, and reduced heat over using a normal desktop part.

    Benchmarks

    Overall performance rating

The rating is calculated according to the formula, taking into account all the data: test results of all benchmarks, structure, year of release, frequency, temperature, instructions, number of cores, threads, auto-overclocking technology, socket, and as well as other data. The results of the overall rating showed that the Athlon XP 2600+ outperforms its rival Celeron M 430 in most parameters. The Celeron M 430 barely gains 204.19points.

    PassMark CPU Mark

The benchmark includes a wide range of tools for evaluating PC performance, including the CPU. Among the tests there are encryption, integer calculations, floating point calculations, extended instructions checking, compression, game physics calculations, multi-threaded and single-threaded tests. It is also possible to compare the results with other configurations in the database. This is perhaps the most famous benchmark tester on the web. All of our processors have passed PassMark testing. Performance Test showed a clear advantage of the Athlon XP 2600+ processor (242 points) over the Celeron M 430 (169points). The Celeron M 430 with a score of 169 clearly loses in this test.

    Cinebench 10 (32 bit) Single-threaded test

The main speed test mode is working with light, global illumination simulation, multilevel reflections, spatial light sources, photorealistic rendering of a 3D scene, as well as procedural shaders. It is possible to check many processor systems. Single in its work uses only one core and one thread for rendering. This benchmark for video cards and processors is now very outdated. Works under Mac OS X, Windows systems. Uses the ray tracing method. MAXON appeared, and is based on the 3D editor Cinema 4D.

Cinebench 15 (64-bit) Single thread test

Cinebench Release R15 is the latest tester from the Finnish Maxon team to date. In the Single Core version, one thread is used for rendering. Using this program, they test the entire system: both video cards and processors. For the CPU, the result of the calculation will be the value of PTS points, and for video adapters, the number of frames per second FPS. A complex 3D scene is being rendered with a large number of lights, objects and reflections. Celeron M 430 single-threaded test in Cinebench R15 showed a result of 26.94 points, slightly ahead of the competitor. With a score of 23.92 in this test, the Athlon XP 2600+ is not far behind.

    Geekbench 4.

    0 (64-bit) Multi-threaded test

64-bit multi-threaded Geekbench 4 test. It is the wide support for various operating systems and devices that makes Geekbench tests the most popular at the present time. It In Geekbench 4, the 64-bit multi-core Celeron M 430 received a score of 817, well above the Athlon XP 2600+. In this test, the Athlon XP 2600+ scores a very low score of 511.17 compared to the Celeron M 430.

    Geekbench 4.0 (64-bit) Single-threaded test

This product, like its earlier versions, can run on operating systems running Mac OS, Linux, Windows. For the first time ever, Android and iOS smartphones are also supported in this version of the benchmark. The Single-Core version uses one thread. The latest single-threaded version of Geekbench 4 to date for testing home PCs and laptops. The Celeron M 430 scored higher in the Geekbench 4.0 single-thread test with a score of 851. But its competitor Athlon XP 2600+ is doing much worse — 507.28 points.

    Geekbench 3 (32 bit) Multi-thread test

Multi-Core program Geekbench 3 — will make a great stress test of your PC and show the stability of your system.

    Geekbench 3 (32 bit) Single-threaded benchmark

The Geekbench multi-platform benchmark is often used to evaluate a Mac system, but it can run on both Linux and Windows. The basic purpose is to test the performance of processors. The 32-bit version of the program loads only one thread and one CPU core.

    Geekbench 2

On our site you can find up to two hundred CPU models that have test data in this program. To date, there are newer updates, the current fifth and fourth. Outdated version of the Geekbench 2 tester.

    X264 HD 4.0 Pass 1

In fact, this is a practical test of system performance by transcoding HD video files to the new H.264 format, the so-called MPEG 4 x264 codec. This test is faster compared to Pass 2, since the calculation is done at the same speed. This is the most appropriate test for multi-core and multi-thread processors. The number of frames processed per second. is the result of the test. The processing speed of MPEG 4 video in the Celeron M 430 is slightly higher than in the Athlon XP 2600+, and amounted to 7. 28 FPS. Athlon XP 2600+ managed to score 6.52 FPS, slightly behind the first processor.

    X264 HD 4.0 Pass 2

This is a slightly different, slower test based on video file compression. The same MPEG4 x264 codec is used, but the processing is done at a variable rate. The resulting value is also measured in frames per second. It is important to understand that this is a very real task, and the x264 codec is used in a large number of encoders. As a result, we get better video quality. That is why the results of the checks really reflect the performance of the platform. During the encoding of the video file by the Celeron M 430 processor into the mpeg4 format, a processing speed of 1.6 Frames / s was obtained. While the Athlon XP 2600+ is slightly behind with 1.52 FPS.

    3DMark06 CPU
