LGA 1156 (Socket H)
LGA 1156 ( or Socket H ) — socket for Intel processors of Lynnfield and Clarkdale architecture. Released in 2009 to replace LGA775 in the desktop segment and LGA771 in the server segment. Designed for desktop computers, workstations and server systems of medium and entry levels.
Processors with this socket are no longer manufactured or supported. It was replaced in 2011 by the LGA1155 socket (Socket h3).
nine0007
Socket H is made according to LGA (Land Grid Array) technology, that is, it contains spring-loaded or soft contacts, to which the processor is pressed using a special holder and lever. The number of contacts is 1156. The size of the installed processors is 37.5 × 37.5 mm.
LGA 1156 socket processors have a three-level cache memory, an integrated memory controller (two DDR3 channels up to 1333 MHz), and a PCIe controller (16 PCI Express 2.0 lanes).
nine0007
The quad-core processors for this socket (Lynnfield) were manufactured using the 45 nm process and did not feature integrated graphics. Later, dual-core processors (Clarkdale) came out, which were produced according to the 32 nm process technology, but only their computing cores and cache memory. The graphics core they were equipped with, as well as the memory controller, PCI Express and DMI buses, were produced using the 45 nm process technology and placed on a separate chip. Both chips were connected via the QPI interface.
nine0007
Core i7, Core i3, almost all Xeon processors, and dual-core Core i5 processors support Hyper-Threading. In addition, Core i7, Core i5 and Xeon implement automatic overclocking technology (Turbo Boost).
The processor is connected to the chipset via the DMI 2.5 GT/s bus. The FDI bus is used to connect the chipset with the video core of the processor.
Motherboards with LGA 1156 socket use Intel Ibex Peak series chipsets, in particular P55, H55, H57, Q57 (for desktop systems), as well as Intel 3400, 3420, 3450 (for servers).
nine0007
All LGA 1156 socket chipsets and processors are compatible. However, the Intel P55, 3400, and 3420 chipsets, which were released before the Clarkdale processors, do not support on-chip graphics. A motherboard with these sockets can install a Clarkdale processor (may require a BIOS update), but its video core will remain unused. At the same time, a third-party video chip is usually built into such boards and the graphics core of the processor has nothing to do with the outputs of the motherboard.

Intel Xeon L3426 processor overviewThe Xeon L3426 server processor uses the Lynnfield microarchitecture at its core. Appeared in parts stores from July 1, 2009. It will require an expensive cooling system since the calculated thermal power is 45 watts. The processor works with motherboards on LGA1156 sockets. 45 Nm process technology — 774 million total transistors. Intel claims bus power is 2.5 GT/s DMI. The temperature of the processor under load reaches 583 degrees. nine0007 The processor supports PCI Express, this will allow you to connect various devices. The installed PCI Express version 2.0 adapter provides 16 lanes. Supports DDR3-1333,DDR3-1066,DDR3-800 memory in 2-channel mode, with a bandwidth of 21Gb/s. The maximum amount of memory that the processor will see is 32 GB. At the same time, the new Turbo Boost technology will give better processor performance by significantly increasing the base frequency to 3200 megahertz. Good Server Processor 2009of the year. An ideal solution for organizing a server system.
Competitors and Analogs of the Opteron family, here you can add a slightly newer Opteron 6172. On the LGA1156 socket, among other processors, we note models from intel: Xeon X3470 on the Lynnfield microarchitecture, Core i7-880, released in 2010, model 875K LGA1156 from the Core i7 series, Xeon X3460 2009year of manufacture, Core i7-870 of 2009, released later than Xeon X3480.If you cover the entire series of Core processors, then L3426 holds 9th place in the list. The most similar processor models under the Intel brand are Xeon X3460, Core i7-870S, Core i7-860S, Xeon X3470, Core i7-860, Xeon X3440, Core i5-760, Xeon X3450, Core i5-750. They run on the same Lynnfield microarchitecture and LGA1156 sockets.
Technologies and InstructionsThe Intel Xeon L3426 Processor supports many modern instructions and technologies. nine0007 Standard instruction extensions MMX, SSSE3, SSE3, SSE2, NX, Streaming SIMD Extensions 4, Intel® Extended Memory 64, Streaming SIMD Extensions are supported. |
