Please help me with the choice of video card.
1050Ti or 2060? | Render.ru

Hello colleagues! Help, please, with the assembly of the computer. There is a choice of buying a 1050TI or 2060 video card.
I heard the news, about a year ago, that Kaos groups are going to connect a video card to the rendering process in the near future in new vireys. And so, I collect a computer and the guy who advised me gave me this video, where the question arose.
Who will open from the beginning — the results of tests for rendering at 12:44 minutes are reviewed, incl. v-ray.
According to this video, the new vira seems to have added the ability to render faster on new 2060 video cards due to tenser cores. And a test of 1070 gtx and 2060 rtx is given. And the second renders the scene with a VR in 3dmax 2 times faster.
Until recently, I thought that a not very productive card was enough, since rendering is mainly done by the CPU, and the video card is rather weak and it only participates in drawing viewports and denoising after rendering, that is, 1050ti is enough for the eyes.
That is the essence of the question: yes, the hardware is good, but if the difference in performance between the cards is insignificant when working with 3Ds max and CAD, then overpaying 18 thousand does not make sense. And if the increase in performance is 30-50% + the possibility of interactive rendering without strain, thanks to the map, then it makes sense to invest and it will pay off quickly.
What do you think?
Is there really a performance increase in viray (up to 50%)?
And, if so, is it worth buying it now, given that on a new card you will have to wait N months for a stable set of drivers to be released?
3dsmax, v-ray, sometimes corona. I work in interior design. The processor was purchased by AMD 2700X and the environment for it, the only thing left to choose is a video card.

Yes, the test lab was also shocked at first.
Especially because of this, three additional tests were carried out, everything was confirmed.

Comparison of budget gaming graphics cards — GTX 1050 vs GTX 1050 TI
To play modern video games comfortably at least at medium settings, and in some cases at least at the minimum, a discrete is simply necessary. But what if the budget is limited? Advice for a gamer — look at the GTX 1050 or 1050 TI.
These two graphics cards are inexpensive options that can provide comfortable gameplay. What is the difference between these two versions, what are the features of each of them, and how they perform in tests, the article tells.
Curious: Which is better for a monitor: DVI or HDMI — comparison of 2 interfaces
NVidia GeForce GTX 1050
There are many manufacturers of such a video card, which has every right to be called «super popular». So the cost of devices can vary significantly depending on the amount of memory and some other parameters. But for gaming, this card is suitable from any brand.
For example, a 2GB device from MSI DDR5 is quite viable. Of course, you won’t be able to play all modern blockbusters at ultra settings, but it’s worth buying it as an economical option. The good news is that this is an overclocking version: it is already overclocked from the factory, which gives a performance boost and eliminates the need to try to overclock the card yourself.
Interesting: The development of Microsoft Xbox consoles: 4 stages of becoming a game console . Anti-aliasing and vertical sync will have to be sacrificed, but everything will be displayed in FHD resolution. Battlefield 1 in campaign mode with a high preset will also please. The average FPS mark in the tests is 53, but this did not affect the gaming comfort, judging by the reviews. High settings in PUBG are not a problem if the player is happy with 40-45 FPS, but the gameplay is pretty smooth.
If we talk about more serious projects, such as Watch Dogs 2 or Assassin’s Creed Origins, then we can advise you to consider 3 GB versions of devices, for example, from Gigabyte. Yes, and the CPU will need a much more powerful one.
Any GTX 1050 graphics card can be recommended as one of the good gaming solutions. It has two main advantages that can become key selection criteria:
- optimal cost-performance ratio;
- excellent energy efficiency.
Minus was also found. By modern standards, this option is no longer enough to enjoy the latest gaming hits with an ultra-graphics preset, and even at a resolution higher than FHD.

NVidia GeForce GTX 1050 TI
The four-gigabyte GTX 1050 TI can be called one of the best gaming solutions at the moment. Judging by the reviews, comfortable gameplay is ensured with it if the other components of the assembly match.
Advice : In order to enjoy gaming with this graphics card, you need at least 8 gigabytes of RAM (or better, twice as much) and at least a quad-core processor.
A good example is the model from MSI. Yes, this is not the most budget option, but the choice in its favor is made not only due to performance, but also due to silence, as well as a TDP of 75 degrees. In addition, this card, unlike some other models, has its own cooling. In addition, it shows quite high FPS in tests. And it is also bought by owners of cases with a transparent wall — its design is very attractive. The following parameters also allow you to recommend a model:
- DirectX 12 support;
- GDDR5 memory;
- GPU clock speed 1290 MHz stock and 1392 boost.
- 128-bit bus at 7008 MHz.
The same board from ASUS is an equally interesting variant with almost identical technical characteristics, except for the GPU frequency (here 1379 MHz in stock and 1493 in boost, and in overclocker mode — 1392/1506 MHz).
All video adapters have convenient utilities for streaming, as well as editing parameters and overclocking. In tests with modern games (Fallout 4, GTA 5, Watch Dogs 2), there is practically no difference: models from both manufacturers gain 50-60 FPS.

GTX 1050 Ti. Drivers 2016 vs Drivers 2020 — PC-01
Contents
In continuation of the article about AMD Radeon RX 470 and performance changes from driver versions, I propose to do a similar study of the video card from Nvidia.
for the GTX 1050 TI selected drivers:
- 376.33 (December 2016)
- 441.87 (January 2020)
Test system:
- i9-9900K (Stock)
- ASUS Z170 I Pro Gaming
- 2 8GB DDR4 G.Skill Ripjaws V F4-3600C17D-16GVK (3600MHz XMP profile)
- EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC Gaming ACX
Game Benchmarks
The Division
Frame Time Graph (click to enlarge)
Nvidia, on the contrary, sees an increase of 4% in average and median FPS, but for less than 0. 1, 1%, nvidia has no difference. The distribution shows that the increase is clearly higher than the testing errors.
GTA V
The figures show a drop of about 1-1.5%.
The frame time graphs also show that the old drivers are a little better.
It can be seen from the probability distribution that there is almost no difference in the medium FPS region, but the old drivers are better in long frames and short frames.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow
Six Siege
An increase of about 4-5% for all frames, including long ones.
And the distribution shows that the increase is much higher than the testing errors.
Rise of the Tomb
Raider
In terms of numbers — on average, new drivers have grown by about 1.5%.
But the old drivers are slightly better in terms of drawdowns, but the test scenes are short, there are friezes from loading locations in the benchmark, so in general everything is rather controversial with drawdowns.
But in general, the difference is slightly higher than the errors.
Ashes of the
Singularity : Escalation
In the benchmark, as with AMD, each run is very different from each other, so little is visible in the frame time graphs.
But according to the probability distribution graph, you can already see those approximately 2% performance gains that the numbers speak of.
Watch Dogs 2
As in the case of AMD and RX 470, the 4 Gig card has friezes from loading and the difference between driver versions does not exceed the test errors, in general, nothing has changed much in 3 years.
The Witcher 3
Not very synchronous, I managed to make runs, they are shifted by about 2 seconds for different driver versions, however, it is clear that there is not a very big difference in performance.
The probability distribution allows us to see that at low FPS, older drivers are preferable, and only at medium and high FPS, new drivers come out ahead, but all this is slightly above the errors.
Conclusions
First of all, who read the material about AMD, I can remember that performance deteriorated in a third of games, increased in a third, and remained unchanged in a third, and as I already said, it did not change on average for all games.
RX 470 on 2016 and 2020 drivers
With nvidia, it turns out that in almost all games there is either an increase, or approximately the same results in different driver versions, or a very slight drop in performance.
GTX 1050 Ti on 2016 and 2020 drivers
And as a result, averaging the results of 7 games, it turns out that in terms of median FPS, the increase was almost 2%. In other words, nvidia, like AMD, does not worsen performance, but rather tries to increase it.
Performance change. Comparison of AMD, Nvidia from different versions of drivers
Well, in fact, each had its own «jambs» that the companies corrected after the release of video cards with drivers. AMD was overclocked and the drivers partly fixed it, and nvidia was too bad with DX 12, and nvidia partly fixed it over time. Hence the growth of both.

NVIDIA GTX 1050 vs GTX 1050 Ti: Which is better? — Notebook News
Tiffany Garrett
Notebook News
The graphics card (GPU) market has experienced massive inflation, mostly due to cryptocurrency mining, and for many, the best graphics card options, such as the NVIDIA GTX 1080 or GTX 1080 Ti, are simply out of reach. Others don’t need that much power, which is why NVIDIA makes lower-end models like the GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti.
If you’re investing in a new PC soon, be it pre-built or custom, you might be wondering which particular GPU matters the most. Let’s compare these two to find out which one is best for you.

What do you need from a graphics card?
Comparing the GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti was a lot easier until May 2018 when NVIDIA decided to add the 3GB GTX 1050 to the mix. Like the GTX 1060 with the 3GB and 6GB models, these are two separate products under the same name, differing on most product pages only in the amount of video memory inside.
NVIDIA has no doubt decided to add the GTX 1050 3 GB as a relatively inexpensive option with a little more power and as an option more suited to gamers than crypto miners. In a statement to PC World, an NVIDIA spokesperson said the following:
It depends on the game, but on average a 3GB GTX 1050 is about 10 percent faster than a 2GB GTX 1050.

No pricing or final release date yet, but we have the exact specs from the NVIDIA website. It looks like the GTX 1050 3GB will fill roughly the same role as the 2GB model, which is a low-cost, entry-level entry-level GPU. Neither should be used for VR in most cases, but it can provide smooth 1080p playback with popular esports titles, as well as some other non-intense titles. Note that the 3GB model doesn’t support SLI, meaning you can’t chain the two together for extra power.

As for the GTX 1050 Ti, it meets the minimum requirements for an Oculus Rift, though you could certainly do better, especially if you’re using an HTC Vive. When it comes to standard games, the 1050 Ti provides a superior experience over the standard 1050 models.
Related: Is the NVIDIA GTX 1050 good for gaming?
If you’re building or buying a PC that you’d like to last as long as possible without requiring a GPU upgrade, the 1050 Ti is your best bet.
To better understand how these GPUs work, let’s compare real-life benchmarks. Since there are no benchmarks available for the GTX 1050 3GB yet, I’ll stick with the 2GB model and the GTX 1050 Ti.
UserBenchmark GTX 1050 2GB averages around 61.8 frames per second (FPS) when playing Overwatch at 1080p at max settings. In DOTA 2 it averages around 81.6 FPS at 1080p on max settings. A GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB of memory averages around 70.6 FPS in Overwatch and around 107 FPS in DOTA 2 at the same resolution and settings.
These esports games can be played on any GPU, but what about games that require high performance hardware? The GTX 1050 2GB averages around 38.2fps in Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) at 1080p at max settings and around 43.5fps at Battlefield 1 at 1080p at max settings. Under identical circumstances, the GTX 1050 Ti averages around 44.2 FPS and 44.5 FPS, respectively.
It’s clear from these tests that while esports games are within reach, you’ll either have to live with lower FPS or lower settings to play other modern hits.
