Many graphics card vendors have different ranges through which they group cards based on different levels of tweaked performance and for MSI this has mainly resided around the top level Lightning series cards, much like the GTX 680 Lightning that we looked at mid last year in June and the lower entry level HAWK range that offered up value options for the budget user. MSI however have noted that there is a gap to be filled in between these two card ranges and this is where the Power Edition range of cards come into play.
The Power Edition is MSI’s way of offering up a balance between overclocked performance off the shelf and great value for that performance at the same time. This is not to mean that cut backs have been in other areas however. With these cards we still see the same high level of quality that we would with any other card including the feature of MSI’s Twin Frozr cooler and Military Class III components.
The 670 Power Edition comes in a blight blue box with minimal detailing of the card’s features on the front. We do see though that this is an overclocked card and features the Twin Frozr IV cooler as well as an enhanced PWM design and triple overvoltage. Under the front flap we find a whole host of information on the cards features including a dust removal system that spins the two fans in reverse for thirty seconds to expel any dust that may have built up.
Alongside the card we find a pair of molex to 6-pin power adaptors and the obligatory DVI to VGA adaptor as well.

Performance
GPU clock speed
1020MHz
The graphics processing unit (GPU) has a higher clock speed.
GPU turbo
1098MHz
When the GPU is running below its limitations, it can boost to a higher clock speed in order to give increased performance.
pixel rate
28.6 GPixel/s
The number of pixels that can be rendered to the screen every second.
floating-point performance
2.74 TFLOPS
Floating-point performance is a measurement of the raw processing power of the GPU.
texture rate
114 GTexels/s
The number of textured pixels that can be rendered to the screen every second.
GPU memory speed
1502MHz
The memory clock speed is one aspect that determines the memory bandwidth.
shading units
Shading units (or stream processors) are small processors within the graphics card that are responsible for processing different aspects of the image.
texture mapping units (TMUs)
TMUs take textures and map them to the geometry of a 3D scene. More TMUs will typically mean that texture information is processed faster.
render output units (ROPs)
The ROPs are responsible for some of the final steps of the rendering process, writing the final pixel data to memory and carrying out other tasks such as anti-aliasing to improve the look of graphics.
Memory
effective memory speed
6008MHz
The effective memory clock speed is calculated from the size and data rate of the memory. Higher clock speeds can give increased performance in games and other apps.
maximum memory bandwidth
192GB/s
This is the maximum rate that data can be read from or stored into memory.
VRAM (video RAM) is the dedicated memory of a graphics card. More VRAM generally allows you to run games at higher settings, especially for things like texture resolution.
memory bus width
256bit
A wider bus width means that it can carry more data per cycle. It is an important factor of memory performance, and therefore the general performance of the graphics card.
version of GDDR memory
Newer versions of GDDR memory offer improvements such as higher transfer rates that give increased performance.
Supports ECC memory
✖MSI GeForce GTX 670 Power Edition OC

[Taipei, Taiwan] MSI, the world’s leading motherboard manufacturer, is pleased to announce a new line of motherboards based on the AMD X670 platform, which will include truly advanced models, namely MEG X670E GODLIKE, MEG X670E ACE, MPG X670E CARBON WIFI and PRO X670-P WIFI. Compatible with the upcoming AMD Ryzen™ 7000-series processors, this line-up combines cutting-edge technologies and a host of new features that gamers and hardware enthusiasts alike will appreciate. Meet MSI X670 Series Boards! nine0011
AMD Ryzen 7000 processors are the first chips manufactured by TSMC using 5nm FinFET manufacturing technology. With them, AMD is introducing a new processor socket and platform that supports PCIe 5. 0, DDR5 memory, and more. The X670 chipset is available in two versions: the X670E version allows you to use the PCIe 5.0 mode for both the PCIe slot and the M.2 slot, and the X670 version is only for M.2. In addition to supporting PCIe 5.0 and DDR5, all MSI motherboards based on the new chipsets offer a rear USB-C port capable of operating as a DisplayPort 2.0 video output 1 , and MEG series boards also have a front USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C port with power supply up to 60 W (according to the Power Delivery standard). The power supply system of the boards themselves has been strengthened. It is now available in 24+2 phases and uses smart power modules rated up to 105A. for self-assembly of computers. At the same time, gaming boards based on the X670E chipset offer additional features for personalization. For example, the M-Vision dashboard not only shows hardware monitoring data, but also allows you to control PC parameters using a touch interface. MSI X670E series motherboards also feature M. 2 Shield Frozr SSD screwless cooling system and similar system with magnetic mounting 2 . There is a special button on the rear panel that allows you to boot your computer with safe settings, turn the backlight on and off, and activate the turbo fan mode. All MSI boards based on the X670 platform will be compatible with devices equipped with 2nd generation addressable lighting, allowing enthusiasts to make their builds even more colorful.
MEG Series: Become a Legend
The MEG X670E GODLIKE and MEG X670E ACE MEG Series motherboards offer unparalleled functionality. Made in the E-ATX form factor, they are endowed with a powerful 24 + 2 phase power supply system with 105-ampere power modules. For effective cooling, they use a composite type radiator and a heat pipe. On the reverse side of the board there is a heat dissipator plate that helps to reduce the operating temperature of the transistors, and there is a metal reinforcing plate to protect the entire device from bending and damage. MEG series boards support up to four M.2 slots, one of which operates in PCIe 5.0 x4 mode. Also included is an M.2 XPANDER-Z GEN5 DUAL expansion card with two additional M.2 drive slots (in PCIe 5.0 x4 mode). nine0011
MPG series: set your genre!
The MPG series offers a new AMD platform with various additional enhancements. The MPG X670E CARBON WIFI model offers users two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and four M.2 slots, while a pair of each type can simultaneously work in PCIe 5.0 x4 mode. The 18+2 phase power system with 90 amp power modules is cooled by an oversized radiator. In addition to modern characteristics, the board stands out for its great design. Finished in carbon black, it boasts a unique radiator finish. nine0011
PRO Series: Business Only
The PRO Series is widely popular among corporate users and creative professionals. The PRO X670-P WIFI model can easily handle any load thanks to the powerful Duet Rail (14+2 phase) power system with a pair of 8-pin connectors.
